Totally!
When Nathan started talking about his two cats I laughed out so much I was crying It was the most funniest thing I've ever seen It hurts.
nathan's body language from 2:26 to 2:37 is literally unreal it's like he's in character even when the audience's attention is distinctly away from him
This guy is the most insane comedian I’ve seen in a while and he puts on this deadpan persona. Check out his show he’s pretty ballsy
You wouldn't think it but yeah he actually has nerves of steel lmfao And he's a genius.
It's not much of a put-on. He's extremely deadpan irl.
Nathan: so my cat guards my bedroom... and uh.. you know how sometimes you have like a guard dog? so shes like uhh.............................
Conan: like a guardca-
Nathan: like a guardcat yea haha
Genius.
Timing.
I died when the clip played and he said “That’s the wrong clip” 😂
Weird nobody's bringing up the fact Conan also acted the shіт outta this bit. He was obviously in on the whole thing but made it look like he wasn't to help sell us the illusion. God I love this show.
This honestly could be the greatest talk show bit of all time
It’s right up there with Norm’s Jaques Gatino story.
Nathan Fielder and Aubrey Plaza would be the most awkward combination ever.
I WANT TO SEE THIS
i feel like they would just start making out
@@kurbaga6041 your username might be the greatest ever
@@christophermichael5764 thanks, yours is very average
@@kurbaga6041 that's what she said (the other she...whoever that is)
Lol this is so creative
ChaoticMatters Right! He is brilliant
Too bad Andy Kaufman is the first one to portray this type of character.
heat4yoass .... why’s it “too bad”
What's so creative about it?
This is literally what he does in his tv show
Nathan's a god damn genius
Any other talk show, the host would keep interrupting Nathan and being like "BUT THAT'S SUSAN SARANDON!" and just not letting the joke play out organically, and I truly believe that.
I already hear Jimmy Fallon's voice just by reading your comment
A lot of people are saying that in the comments but Carson absolutely knew how to let a joke breathe
I just realized how weird it is that so many famous people have sat in a seat that Andy Richters butt preheated
Hahhahahah
Nathan is literally a comedic genius, so underrated
He sounds like Tina (Bob's Burgers).
he played one of her love interests on the show
He played two!
He sounds like Mike Birbiglia to me.
He sounds like Tig Notaro.
He speaks like her (slowly and using short sentences) but otherwise I don't see the similarity. He does sound very similar to the Tina voice actor though.
He hates talking about his own show. He really, really does.
his character does*
I don't think so, I think he is just funny, outside the box, and calculated. He doesn't need to tell people about his show, he just needs to intrigue them and be memorable. I think he'll avoid talking about his show purposefully, but not out of hate.
I think he doesnt want his show to be too high profile so he can keep doing it without people knowing who he is
I love that Conan was slow blinking. You can tell he was really getting into character for the cat story.
The fact we’re horrified that Susan doesn’t make a peep is testament to her absolute awesomeness
If it spoke then it's batteries would put it back in sleep mode because they forgot to charge it before the interview. It had been locked in a closet for two decades collecting dust.
She can walk in and people love her. That's power.
Conan's facial expression while Nathan is talking about his cats is my favorite thing about this clip!
Nathan can do no wrong! So funny!
Society Music Thanks, I try
Nathan is the only person who can catch Conan OFF GUARD lol That backup clip got me so bad 😂
Toby Creation so you think Conan, the owner and executive of the show Conan, had no prior knowledge of Susan Sarandon's appearance on his show? I suppose the WWE is real too, right?
it is possible )))
ahhaha
it's all planned, hate to burst your bubble
Lol notice they even had another Conan mug laid out for her. So I'm pretty sure Conan was aware.
Conan said that his vision for his show is for it be a talk show where everything is just gradually coming apart, so I imagine he loved this bit that Nathan came up with.
This is the first I'd ever seen or heard of Nathan Fielder. I am now a devoted fan for life.
Conan is so good about letting bits "breathe". Most comics feel like they need to fill the silence, but he knows to let it live longer for a laugh
I don't know if they're any pet owners out there? lol
Watching this clip 6 yrs later after watching the curse. Lol ive definitely been this boring and meandering about my fascinating pets more times than i can count. Lol i was hoping the clip was a cat vid to really commit.
post-kaufmanism
Avvv Qvvv Neokaufman. Kaufmanesqe.
@@robbieclark7828 I agree - "post" implies it's the opposite. Neo is better
@@localkauf post- means after
@@lh4alfkv2pfkxzrb6 yes - but culturally it implies its a response and therefore an opposing reaction.
E.g. post-modernism is basically the opposite of modernism.
@@localkauf Never thought about that, you are definetely right.
This never gets old and the fact that she did this with a straight face is comedy gold 😂
I love how Conan finally just lets him self laugh at the end there, you can tell he's trying so hard to keep it in and stay serious lol
Nathan is so beautiful, I always say he could be a model on cat food bags
One could even call him The Hunk.
The layup to the "guard cat" comment was comedy gold. Timing is everything and Nathan F has that skill down to a T.
Nathan is a treasure. He takes that awkward dork humor and brings it to levels we have never seen before. Pure genius, totally underrated
Love his show. He is so helpful to small business owners.
This is the funniest thing I've seen in such a long time. Susan almost loses it for a moment there, when she smiles and turns her head away. This bit is genius!
I'm going to defer my comment to my backup commenter...
Susan?
Susan: *Absolute silence*
Good one!
Goodness she is beautiful
So if Nathan Fielder is a bad talk show guest,
and Eric Andre is a bad talk show *host* ?
_I think I've struck gold_
Please yes. Let this happen
I would pay to see that episode of the Eric Andre show
@@littlehamilton117 They would definitely try to out troll each other.
Eric would probably win. Nathan is an incredible character actor, but he's up against somebody just being himself (a psychopath who enjoys torture).
@@williamkim8866 If this ever happened then they would definitely plan/collaborate beforehand. Even though they have really different approaches they both have super similar senses of humor and love to make other people as uncomfortable as possible. Those two would be unstoppable as a duo
Best part about Conan is that he can read his guests and play off them. His reactions alone make the person seem funnier. Not in Nathan’s case he’s already funny.
In a way he is our Andy Kauffman. When is he actually being real? Is his entire life devoted to awkwardness? I love it
What a perfect parallel!
