Your videos are truly appreciated. I recently purchased a 2021 PA special down here in Florida and I feel a surging when just cruising at a constant speed. Have you had any similar issues known for 2021 or any year and if yes how did you correct it? Thanks.
Sorry for the slow response. There are several things that could be causing this. The most common would be fuel pressure. The fuel pump seems to have a short life on the Pan Ams.
I urge everyone to test ride one. It is just a phenomenal bike. For me, I am 6ft 280lbs, I have stenosis and 2 blown discs, and a third is now suspected. In my back. I rode two different roadglides with upgraded suspension, and the Pan America rode way better for obvious reasons. For the company to survive they have to embrace and bring forward new technology. The only thing relatively Un-Harley Davidson is the iconic sound is not quite there. Put a Vance and Hines 450 HO and it sounds great. I just completed purchase on a new to me 2021 model. Gauntlet Grey Special with laced wheels.
Man, as far as I know, it also upgraded SOME MORE IMPORTANT, like: - starter - alternator - and some kind of relay So why don't you mention? You are a Harley dealer?
Just wondering as a dealer what are you guys doing to address the low voltage issue on startup. Either getting the whireing cuz it doesnt want to start or it starts but throws codes. All codes are lack of voltage related. Taking my 21 in finally next week. New battery 4 days ago. Still get it. Have had for almost 3 years now and only 1500 miles. Have a 20 rgs as well thank god. Thisbis crazy that jd is not just fixong these well known issues. I know im gonna get the run around from my hd dealer. Pocono mtn hd. I have such low mileage because I'm afraid to ride it. It literally is a 50/50 chance if it's going to start on the first button push. Just road today. Started up fine due to just unplugging from tender. Went to lunch. Bike sat almost an hour. Had to try 2x to start. Literally 9 out of 10 times i have to try at least 2x. The damn whitrong due to laco of voltage. Have spoke with a few hd dealers just to see what would say. And of course every single one of them I don't know what problem you're talking about we don't have that we haven't fixed anyone's bike for that. How is a software update going to fix a low voltage problem I want someone to really explain this to me. I have case number. Harley will not get over on me on this when they know it's a known issue.
If your dealer is familiar with the Pan America there are service bulletins to address everything your are talking about. Harley will provide them with a list of checks and problem areas. Also, make sure all software updates are done and kept up to date. Those will fix low voltage starting issues as well. I hate it that it has taken you this long to get it to a dealer. These corrections have been available for some time now. Hope things work out for you.
Thank you so much for getting back. I have all updates except the one that came out on 12 23. I have a blue #1 rgs so not my main bike. But I love the crap out of this pan. Have the orange. But since day 1 has had that whirring. But when set up my appt they acted all we haven't heard of that. Yes I put a Dynojet tuner. Not the issue. So now I have voided my extended warranty. Just such B's that HD not standing up and saying hey 21s bring in and we'll fix it. But again thank you for responding.
I will need to ask our service manager for all the details but HD does allow us .4 of an hour to do ECM and BCM updates under warranty. If the vehicle is not under warranty I am assuming HD pays nothing so there could be a charge to the customer.
Thank you for the comparison. Does the cat conv heat deflector work with the HD heavy duty bash guard? There is not much space in between the cat and the heavy duty bash guard.
Since you have your own repair shop have you encountered any of these no start and numerous codes issues that I have seen other you tubers describing. Also if you know Florida Jim who is an Iron Butt and Hoka Hey rider. His PA recently shut down at 47,000 plus miles. His dealer in Fla is replacing part or all of the wiring harness . Please get back to us with your experiences and knowledge on these issues. I love my 2022 but this reliability issue some are having has me concerned. I currently have 10,000 miles on my 2022 PAS. I have several long trips planned this year. Some will be in remote areas. Thank you for your info. I am a loyal subscriber to your very informative channel.
So yes we have seen some of these issues. I have seen some on my own PA as well. But honestly we have been able to fix all of them by keeping our customers informed on any and all updates to the software. I believe a lot of these issues are wire pin connections or internal software issues. Also, there is specific procedures for installation on the updates. Very important that the dealer does them correctly. Not saying yours is not but we had a learning curve on that. I don’t know Florida Jim but I do know Dustyn Monismith which was a Hoka Hay participant last year. If HD MoCo has a tech on it they will figure it out. One more thing and I believe the bulletin number is 1573, it will guide technicians through problem areas on the PA that HD has encountered on PAs. We have been performing this on every PA that has experienced any electrical issue and it has been helpful. On the other hand these bikes mechanically have been sound. Just as soon as I say that mine will dissenigrate probably! Lol

The lead tech bought the second PA that was delivered in 2021 and rides it regularly. So in that respect I am in good hands. Again Thank you and I will be watching.

@@yeagerscycle3450 just FYI the full HD skid plate I got on my 22 PAS is so close to cat that it rubs the cat weld at rear so worth inspecting with plate off.

Harley made several good electrical upgrades to the 2024 models. That was about the only changes tho.

Most of the changes you are referring to was from 23 to 24. This was an older video, 22 to 23

The new part does fit with the HD upgraded skid plate. Tight fit, but I saw one installed on a ‘23 today that also had the skid plate attached.

Windshield spring and bracket 57300390a, parts required for air deflector 70681-09, 57001820 and 10039.
The heat shield on the exhaust will not fit with the bigger belly pan or BETTER after market belly pans jus saying.
Good to know, I had not tried that yet. Weird thing is when you look at fitment of the HD skid pan it does not say it won’t fit on a 23.

A few tweaks, and Harley could make the Pan Am in to a true sport bike. I hope they do.
