    I just trawled UA-cam for tarp set up ideas. Normally just line it like a tent. They’re great. Really versatile and the size means you rarely get wet.
    Isn’t it absolutely ridiculous that you go to the shops among hundreds of people with god knows what and that’s ok. Yet you go to the woods or up a mountain in your tent where there’s only you. And that’s not allowed. It has to stop soon like. Anyway. Good to see you still getting oot mate. It all helps. 👍 Atb

    There was a bit of your vid Dave where I genuinely LOLd - when you got all excited by the memory of a biscuit, only to be blown away that there was more than one! And the joy of the dunk... magic. That looked a right windy day so you pitched that really well I reckon, just a bit of give but no flappiness. You're right though - DD tarp S is a bit pokey, and the 3x3 is overkill sometimes. I suppose the military got it right with the good old basha which is somewhere between the two. I need to get one! Anyway, the great thing about having a larger tarp handy is soon enough you won't be looking at the forecast, seeing it's dry, and thinking 'perfect weather to put up that tarp in the local woods' - instead you'll be saying 'p*#sing down with rain - ace! Perfect weather to put up that tarp in local woods' . There's something very nice about being 'open to the elements' as you say, yet still dry - something a tent doesn't really offer. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Good to see you again mate, all the best. Rich.

    • @BorderRambler
      @BorderRambler  3 роки тому

      Thanks Rich , yeah I get excited easily these days lol . I wont lie it was tricky putting it up in the wind but I managed a simple setup , but hopefully I wont have to worry about getting wet when it rains .

    How you find the Hubba vs the Akto. Actually thinking about the Hubba NX for doing the CWT. Atb

    • @BorderRambler
      @BorderRambler  3 роки тому

      Hi Ray , I have just sold the Akto as couldn't justify the amount of times I use it in a year about 3 ! (And I made a profit on it)
      Regarding the Hubba NX I really like it , quite similar inside space to the akto but maybe more headroom. Its a little lighter also and packs away easily with poles separate. However on the downside its a inner pitch first so tricky in wet weather and also not as solid in wild weather .
      Not using the duomid again ? atb Dave

    • @RS.Outdoors
      @RS.Outdoors 3 роки тому +1

      @@BorderRambler Have sold the Duomid. An amazing tent and regretting it now. Only reason for sale was the camo colour as it wasnt good for my photography. So bought an MSR Access 2 in orange which looks amazing for winter mountain stuff. Not that I have had chance to try it out yet. Been looking for a light 3 season replacement for doind the CWT again this year and did think about another Duomid but they only do the dcf version in camo or pear green, yuk. Also thought about a Dcf Notch Li but the waiting time is end of May at earliest and time you put on customs it is around £700. Then there is the Lightwave S10 but it is meant to take a fortnight to dry out after a trip so that's out. No way i am paying Hilly prices as Dcf tents in that range and are far better in wind and rain. Ramble over ;)
