Brave one on the tarp and bivi mind, not summer yet but good on you for giving it a go. Fair play you did look well prepared and with a dry forecast and a great view all looked good when you pitched up. I remember watching a video once when a rock exploded while this guy was cooking his bait, I do not know who got the biggest shock him or me watching! Not a night for a bit of snow and just as well it did not lay - very interesting indeed. Must have been a real cold night and the morning did not look much warmer, cheers Alan
Brave or mad Alan , I think it’s time we had some warmer weather this cold stuff is getting a little tiresome now 😂 At least it was dry , something to be glad of atb Dave ⛺️👍
I missed this video, I've clicked the notifications back on. Great little camp and set up. Not sure where that is (and happy not knowing) but camping in a lovely craggy area like that- fantastic, nice one, atb, Graham
A bit late to this one Dave but that extra hour sure does make a difference. Good to remember your boy there - it is a special area. Well, them winds make it interesting but you managed. Good going. Here's to spring and them summer. Mark
@@BorderRambler Neither me really Dave - other life has to take precedence sometimes. Me? Yeah, my leg/ankle is getting fitter - so pleased. Have a great week ahead.
Hi Dave, great bivy camp, it’s always a worry in the wind with the tarp, but it survived !! I am just going to bivy moving forwards, just love it Cheers Adrian
Nice one, Dave. Love a tarp camp.. why don't you get some tarp clips that way, instead of moving your tarp around you, attach a tarp clip, move your pole down, and drop a corner , I've done this on several occasion. I watched your last video , that was just to energetic for me lol 😂😂. Looks like your keeping well Dave ..
Hello Joe hope you are well , that sounds a plan I have some tarp clips too , my brain wasn’t working at 0330 and I thought just move the tarp 😂😂😂 I’m enjoying the bike camping with some trips planned when the weather warms up 😎 atb Dave ⛺️👍
Nice one Dave, I do love these locations you camp at, a brave man using a bivvy up on the hill, it looked pretty cold 🥶 When you saw the frog spawn, it reminded me of my childhood when I stood in a stagnant stream and got a whole welly boot full of frog spawn 🤮🤮🤮
Hiding from the hum of vehicles lol, it's like being a naughty kid again - and nice memories about hiking up there with your son many years ago. Good to see you back up the crags, I watched this last night on't big tv, but by heck you're fond of a rough night! And a rough night it looked, with just that tiny tarp and the Robens bivi bag, and the winds changing......and crikey did it look cold! You're as bad as me, taking gloves without fingers in but hurray for the auld hot water bottle - you should invest in some heated socks, they are the absolute biz! The battery packs would equate to the weight of a hot water bottle, and you get a constant 15+hrs of gentle warmth bathing your feet all night, absolute heaven lol. atb Dave, DVS :)
Cheers Donna , yes I’m a glutton for punishment eh 😂 the good thing was it all kept me busy and the time flew by but it was still bloody cold up there 🥶 the hot water bottle saved the day as my feet were blocks of ice until I got into the bag . I will check out the heated socks as nothing worse than cold feet . tfw atb Dave . ps watching your latest very soon 👍
good effort dave . hopefully WHEN we get some decent weather you'll be able to do a lightweight bivvy only camp 😉them pastas are great with a few tasty extras added 😋
A cold one Dave!, I just don't understand the pull of a tarp in the winter tbh Anyway thanks for taking the time to video it so we can watch in comfort indoors! 👍🍺😁
Looking like spring more and more. I’m still in winter camp mode for a wee while yet. What are you using to get those new walking shots? Seen you did it with the bike too. Good to see you back out on a roll. Atb Robert
@@Moffatmountainadventures it’s only 2.7k and is limited to what you can do compared to a dji but is super light and easy to use, unlike setting up the drone and controller to take a shot . It’s great for the bike as it follows you forward facing or following you from behind 👍
Conditions on this camp were very poor, lots of moisture so condensation levels were high, lots of moisture in the bivi on my sleeping bag. More testing is needed, hoping to get back out with the same setup. atb Dave
Would you say the bivvy bag is waterproof. As Robbens site says highly water resistant. I’m interested in this bag but not if it’s not waterproof. Love the video 👍🏻

Nice one Dave, enjoyed that. Lovely looking spot, but far from easy doing a tarp and bivvy camp in those conditions. Good on you for sticking it out 👍
Thanks mate, yeah thought it would be a good idea to summit camp 😂

Looks like a few signs of spring in that pond! Bring on spring for sure! Good to see the morning brightening up. Warmer and longer days are ahead!
Can't wait for the warmer weather that’s for sure . Into march now and not long to the lighter nights 😎 tfw atb Dave ⛺️👍
Thank you for sharing your adventure! Thank you for taking me along, Dave. See you in the next one. Cheers!
Glad you enjoyed it Dan , hopefully it might warm up for my next trip 😎⛺️👍
Lovely views of the Solway up there Dave. Yeah, really annoying when the wind changes direction, but all good fun as they say!👍👍
Thanks Anthony , I should know better not to camp on summits in windy conditions lol , yes always good after the event atb Dave ⛺️👍
I bought that very same hat. Borg fleece lined. So warm.
Yes very warm on my balding head 👍

That was a nice adventure, love the views, the wind was strong and cold but you made it and I can't wait for Spring either, liked and subbed
Too right we have had enough of this cold damp weather now 😂 thanks for the sub atb Dave ⛺️👍
Top notch that Dave, not an easy thing to camp out on a summit in winter in a tarp and bivi, enjoyed that pal!
Thanks Ant , it always seems a good idea at the time 😂 atb Dave

The looked freezing mate🥶💪🏻, great effort, never used a water bottle in the bivy before, but that looked a life saver!👌🏻
Yes it was bloody cold , water bottle certainly worked a treat and kept the feet toastie 👍
You're a brave man tarping and bivvying in this weather Dave.....at least the rain held off though. I liked Woody Woodpecker. 👌

I would say showerproof but might struggle in prolonged rain , I suffered lots of condensation as the conditions were so damp with high humidity !
