Just ordered a Kia ev6 GT line. Had no idea the heads up display was this functional. Everyone else just glossed over this feature. Not sure why. Thanks so much for making this video. So helpful!
I recently put myself on the waitlist, and thought I'd use this feature every now and then. But seeing this video, it offers alot more than what you'd initially think.
Thank you Mahesh!! I just discovered your channel as I'm thinking of purchasing an EV6 Gt-Line but waiting for the 2025 upgrade. I love your videos as they're very informative and detailed. I'm discovering many things I didn't know before purchasing the EV6. Are you still happy with the EV6? Again, thank you so much for your great videos and insight! : )
Really helpful video. Still tryiing to get my head round the different types of arrows, and what they mean. I was advised that the UFO line indicates whether you are too close (blue), correct distance (grey) or too far behind (absent). If you have HDA set, the car should not get so close to the car in front that the UFO goes blue. Top Tip, 2 bars indicates a distance (time gap) of 2 seconds, the recommended distance for following. Although 99% of drivers these days follow much closer than that. A 2 sec gap is seen by most other drivers, particulary van drivers, as giving enough space to pull in in front of you.
if you turn off augmented reality for the HUD, it will display more information including the 'block cars' on the sides and in front instead of the ufo while still providing all the other information.
Great video and information. The manual was almost making me dizzy with all the pages dedicated to HDA and all its features. Just one thing to comment on which I haven't seen mentioned much is that in order to disable any kind of cruise control / autopilot functionality, it seems like you have to press the HDA button as well as the steering button on the steering wheel. This seems different from traditional cruise control where you could just press one button and no kind of speed or steering would continue. Is this the case with Kia or am I not using the system correctly?
Mám nové auto Kia EV GT ale ještě jsem nevidět na Head Up displeji to "ufo" modrou vodorovnou čáru před vozidlem, ukazuje se to jen někde a někdy? Děkuji.
Pretty interesting video : a deep and very complete analysis. Difficult to do better, many thanks ! I hope users will get downloadable upgrades such as on Tesla when they'll improve the rare weaknesses showed here.
Do you have a problem with the HUD projecting a double image? All symbols seem doubled and very slightly misaligned, like they are badly out of focus. When you look at it with one eye only, it looks sharp, when looking with both it's out of focus (super bad for the eyes when looking at it). Quite a few people are complaining about it online and mine has it too. I'm just not sure if the HUD is simply bad or some units are faulty. BTW you won't see it in the video because you only see it when looking with two yes at it (rather than with one lense) Tried my brother's BMW today and it was super sharp so it's not my eyes (my brother noticed it too on my Kia)
Yes, it does have a double image (for the speed number, particularly). I agree it is not as sharp as I have seen in other cars. My Volvo XC60 has a much crisper image. I somehow seem to have gotten used to the Kia HUD, it doesn't bother me as much as it did at the start.
@@THEDRIVERDOWNLOAD thanks for your feedback. It does seem they all come from the factory like that then, no point in complaining at the service center. Pity that they opted for such a bad HUD in an otherwise fantastic car though
Hello champion, I just received my KIA EV6-GT-line RWD (pack #2), really a fantastic device and I see that you are a GURU on this subject. You have the perfect skills to teach!. Could you please explain to me the difference between the two types of load, that is, what is the technical or logical reason we should establish values different (lowers) from 100% in these two options like a setpoints? I understand that the fast charger (DC) are the public ones and the not so fast home chargers are the famous level 2 (AC). The set points under 100% (for example for AC charger I saw around 80% max.) are it simply to save time during the respective charging process or those are to protect the integrity of the car's battery? Is thru that is not recommended charger the battery to 100% and not either permit to down very close to 0% of charge? is this a myth or is it reality? What would be the "set points" of these values that you would recommend (if those exist). Thank you very much in advance for your explanations. Congratulations and good luck on your channel. Oswaldo
@@THEDRIVERDOWNLOAD I don't think car makers will ever let Apple or Google further hook into car systems (Android Automotive notwithstanding) than the current level of AA or CP, which isn't much at all. For some reason, they think there's some value add for customers with their proprietary navigation systems. Of course, it's more likely that they want the subscription fees that come with navigation updates. Why bother paying them $50 or $120 or whatever a year for navigation when you can hook up your phone and get better directions on the HUD as well? As annoying as it is, is it possible to run navigation on AA/CP and the in-car system (muted) at the same time? Might be the only way to get HUD turn info as well as the better navigation from Google Maps or Waze.
@@ScubaSteveCanada yes, I know. I was wondering if you could run the Kia in-car navigation at the same time as Google maps or waze in AA/CP so you could get turn by turn in the HUD while the infotainment displays the 3rd party navigation.
I was hoping that Ioniq 6 would also pack the augmented reality feauture, but based on several test drive videos that I've watched, it seems not. Disappointing.
Love the EV6 (except for a couple of problems I had with it in the beginning). Haven’t driven the Ioniq 5, but it shares the same drivetrain with the EV6. Styling, suspension and interior room are different. I’ve heard Ioniq 5 has a more comfort suspension and EV6 has a more sporty suspension. And Ioniq 5 is bigger inside. I believe those are the main differences.
Mine does excellent in stop and go traffic. It is also a setting you can adjust. I have mine set to learn from me. As you can choose default which is a lot slower or more.
It does come to a full stop. When the traffic in front of you moves, you can lightly depress the accelerator and it will follow the car in front and stop again...till you repeat.
If the car remains stopped beyond a certain amount of time (the manual doesn't say how much), then you do need to gently tap the accelerator to get it going. Otherwise, it will get going on its own. Hope that answered your question!

🙏 I think the Aug Reality HUD is one of the best features of the EV6.
My dealer told me that I will receive my EV6 on september so meanwhile I can learn how to use it with these detailed videos. Thanks!

If you notice, the display changed back to 65 at the “end road work” sign…looks like it worked properly to me…the construction zone had ended.
Great detail. Makes me nostalgic for my business trips to the South Bay, too!

How often does Kia push updates for all these features? Do you have to take the vehicle to the dealership to get the updates, or are the updates OTA?

How are maps updated
Upravím Ioniq 5 sám skutečnou rychlost podle limitu?
Yes, with HDA2.

If and when you ever do this video again you need to recognize that lane keep assist is different from lane follow assist.
Does it control speed fully in stop and go traffic? I've heard reports of it not accelerating after the car in front moves up.
