    Thanks for this. There are always SO many "general" car reviews that try to show a little of everything and not enough specific reviews to show how one specific thing works. I've watched hours and hours of Ioniq 5 videos and this is the first one to clearly show me how the HUD works and what the "augmented reality" is like. I'm wondering if the HUD works (with or without Augmented Reality) for directions if you're using Apple CarPlay or Andoid Auto for Map guidance?

    • @LemonTeaLeaf
      @LemonTeaLeaf  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks good to know the videos are useful 😄. I'm afraid that android auto and apple car play map direction does not come up on the HUD. would be good if it does but they seem independent of each other.

      That one thing they could do is to have a sound for when the lane assist switchewd off . Had that on the nissan leaf.

    • @AlexWhittemore
      @AlexWhittemore 2 роки тому +1

      I think I agree! AR view would be a lot more useful if somehow the HUD could take up the entire driver's-side windshield, and actually put the graphic over the physical world reliably. But I think having a google maps style "which lane should you be in" graphic is more useful than the mariocart arrows pointing every which way.

    You still have that difference in pack module temperature narrowing your fast charge window.
    1+3 sitting 3-4° low when cold
    When 2+4 are ready at 24°
    Then (9:21) 2+4 sitting 7° higher (44° vs 37°) throttling the top end.
    If they could balance that you'd see the 190kW+ rate over a longer period.
    You mentioned the 45°c limit, that's why the charge slows. They set that as the safe limit for the cells.

    • @LemonTeaLeaf
      @LemonTeaLeaf  2 роки тому +1

      That makes sense why it was sitting at 45°c I'll got more footage with that charging session i'll compile into another video hopefully decypher how the P45 was programmed to deal with the colder weather.

    In adaptive cruise control, I make adjustments to the set speed depending on the driving conditions, because if it is too high and the road ahead clears, the car will speed up quickly to the set speed, and sometimes the conditions for safety needs to be slower so I toggle the speed down where the flow of traffic is adapted.

    • @LemonTeaLeaf
      @LemonTeaLeaf  Рік тому +1

      You could try vehicle setting/drive assist/SCC and set it to link base on drive style and it'll learn your manual acceleration if you don't tend to pull off the lights quickly. Otherwise try link to drive mode and set car to eco for a slower acceleration. But yes I tent to slow down to 65 on the HDA to stop the car rushing to 70.

    Very good James so this work in conjunction with the navigation system if you want the arrows to show up on the HUD so every trip has to be pre programmed . I do like this much better than the Kona's pop up screen, the only thing that would worry me is the cost of replacing a windscreen as in Canada we do get a lot of rocks on the road we may find that our insurance may have to have some kind of rider. Thanks for the video .

    • @LemonTeaLeaf
      @LemonTeaLeaf  2 роки тому +2

      it's actually projected from the top of the dash onto the windscreen which seems to have a thin layer on the windshield to reflect the HUD, so i suspect it shouldn't be that expensive to replace. I could be wrong.

    on the standard hud, you got lane guidance IE highlighted the right 2 lanes, but on the augmented you just get the arrow, that doesn't seem as useful, especially places like Glasgow where the motorways joining left and right, you might end up in the wrong lane.
    BTW, cruise distance bars are seconds, so you set 1-4 seconds distance from the car in front

    A suggestion; focus on max and min battery temps not average. The transitions are then easy to see. 15c 20c 25 c min for cold battery, 45 c 50c are triggers in a hot battery. Will get ~50C type temps at 220kW ie need plus 25c min temps. At high SOC charge rates drop by the SOC curve and at 50kW will normally not heat up (cf 220kW at low soc will heat up). Of course ambient 10c helps but I wonder at 35c ambient how charging will go.

    • @rogerstarkey5390
      @rogerstarkey5390 2 роки тому +1

      I've mentioned this elsewhere.
      The difference in module temps isn't helping, it narrows the fast charge window.
      Seems they have the max temp set at 45° for rapid charge. Needs better balancing between modules 1+3 (37°) and 2+4 (44°).

      Great video about HUD, thanks! What is the Water cooling temperature during charging, the cooling liquid has a hard task, there was 15°C difference between coldest and hottest battery modules. Good point about the min/max rather than the average. I think the modules closer to the outside of the pack is cooler. It would help if they could some how even the heat. Not sure how they can do that without having seperate cooling pipes for each module. Be interesting to see if it'll leat over 46c in summer or if it's the colder weather helping to keep it under the 45c temp?

    Why didn't you change lanes when the animated arrows were clearly pointing you to the left or right lane ?
    The standard mode seems to be better understandable to me, as it does a better job in a less confusing way showing you which lane to choose.
    I would turn off the other vehicles beeing displayed, that's just a little bit too distracting to me, as I can see them anyway through the windshield.
    All you need is speed, the navigation, pre collision warning and the blind spot monitoring.

      I've no issue without the rear wiper although I have applied Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Spray Wax amzn.to/3p9qwJH on the body of the car and a coat onto the glass. so when it rains heavy enough it seems to wash any dirt off. I can still make out lights or shapes behind me if it does get a little mucky. Overall it's not really been a problem for me with all the other safety features. I suppose you could use Rain-X which I'll try after winter. It would be handy to have a rear wiper but i think it's design over function which I'm ok with.

If I use station with 150kW of maximum output, then my charging is normally around 148kW - so basically as it should be. Did someone notice similar behavior? Hi James
    Although I come from Haddington East Lothian Scotland and I am Scottish. I live in Brighton with my wife.
    I am buying an electric car and wanted to apply for the Scottish loan at zero % over 6 years.
    I am excluded as I do not live in Scotland
    Is this fair

      I thought that went i was living in England till I moved back up. I suppose they want people that's living in Scotland to benifit from the scheme as it's funded by the Scottish goverment as the tax in rates up here is different from England.

      Not at all. I like having the directions in the hud. I like the auto battery conditioning. And I like not having pop up messages every few minutes like WAZE does. If I want those I just run Waze in the background. What aspect of the navigation system sucks?
