I couldn’t find much online comparing the M1 iMac to the M1 iPad (because who would compare a desktop computer with a tablet?!) but like I mention in the video, if there was ever a time to compare the two, it’s now. @@mushifancy2765 I'm not sure what kind of things you'll need specifically for the course, but the MacBook is good if you need an actual laptop. The iPad is good if you want something that functions almost like a laptop, but also has the added benefit of being able to use it as a tablet with the apple pencil. If you don't have a computer then I'd recommend the MacBook over the iPad, but it's really dependent on what you intend to use it for.

Thanks for this comparison which shows just how little there is to choose between them but I think for overall versatility for leisure use as opposed to work I’d go for the iPad, though was surprised the price difference was so little too.

The iPad does seem like a better option for moving around, it’s got a reasonably big screen, and if things flare up with COVID again, then I’ll be training through zoom for a while, my tablet is okay, but the screen isn’t so big. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on these two devices Sophie!

Hi Sophie, it was so nice to see your video come up when I searched for iPad Pro vs iMac! I was wondering which sounds better for watching movies and other content or listening to music. I imagine the direction the speakers point might make a difference (like, the iMac speakers bounce sound off the table)?
Thank you so much! I haven't really noticed much of a difference between the sound quality to be honest! I usually gravitate towards my iMac for watching movies/TV shows because of the larger screen, and if I'm listening to music on either then it's usually via my AirPods.

Excellent comparison! It's quite rare to find these kind of comparisons between these two specific products. I'm in the process of reducing the amount of devices I own and I've "skimmed" it down to iPhone 13 mini, iPad Pro 11 with MK (for when on the go) and a 24" iMac as the central hub at home. I'm definitely a casual user which uses devices as a way to surf, email, store and edit photos, manage files etc (very basic). A few times I just happen to be leaving the iPad Pro in the drawer for a week at a time and that makes me think if I could minimize even more! Its so tough though at this stage to chose what to keep since the very few times I bring the iPad along it works great, together with its exclusive abilities that the iMac doesn't offer. On the other hand the iMac is a versatile and reliable machine for everything! So torn! (The MacBook could merge these two products into a happy medium with sacrifices on both ends)
Great video, no sensational claims, just wonderful facts and explanations about and of both devices. I’ve bought both, similar specs, both 16GB, 1TB. I love them both, use them differently and sought to future proof myself with the higher specs. Not cheap (I’m in Australia) where the iPad cost slightly more than the iMac.

I like both. Just purchased iPad Pro 5th gen and magic keyboard.
It’s a stunning screen and very fast but uncertain about software as I mysteriously lost ability to have my i capitalised mid sentence “I” 😮 autocorrect fine for everything else and auto capitalisation on. Maybe I shouldn’t have done initial setup using my iPhone 6s
Plus I’m uncertain if keyboard lights on my white keyboard working correctly other day it seemed like they got brighter in brighter ambient light not dimmer although haven’t noticed that this weekend. I will contact Apple support if these two issues don’t get resolved.
iMac 24 looks so cute but is the display as brilliant as the iPad Pro? Probably not although both have their place😊
I'm sorry you're experiencing a few little snags with the keyboard! Hopefully it resolves itself! The screen on the iMac is perfect 🥺 I can't fault it!

I used the iMac more than the iPad!
This was a nice comparison and very enjoyable to watch. However, I look at things a little differently. Because, I think most Apple users should have both an iPad and a desktop computer and not, just one or the other. Yet, the mix between the two might change for example perhaps a consumer desktop 24-inch iMac paired with an iPad Air; or a 27-inch iMac paired with an iPad pro, etc. As for myself, I would select a discontinued space gray 27-inch iMac Pro and pair it with, just the basic iPad model with max RAM and cell data service (smile...smile).

This helped my decision better. I want an iPad but my parents said to get the iMac because i do not have a tv in my room to watch movies so they said to watch movies on the iMac
If I had the money right this moment and was given the choice, I would buy the *M1 iPad Pro* over the M1 iMac mainly for portable work reasons. With the battery powering the iPad Pro its much more useful in more situations to me personally.!

Is it possible to use Final Cut Pro on the iPad Pro 12.9” ?
Unfortunately not :( Pro apps like Final Cut aren’t available on iPadOS, just MacOS. There is a video editing app called LumaFusion for iPad but it’s not an Apple app.

If I had the money and the space for an iMac, I'd have both of these. For now, I'll stick with my iPad (though now I do wish I'd gone with the bigger 12.9" screen rather than the 11").
Maybe a future purchase then! How are you finding the 11” so far? Do you use it primarily as a tablet with the Apple Pencil or do you have a keyboard for it too?
@@sophiedodsworth Definitely a future purchase! The 11" is great. I only really use it for my art at the moment - drawing with procreate, and then editing the time-lapse videos with lumafusion. Though it's definitely something I'll be taking with me when I start travelling again.

@@sophiedodsworth The best advice I can give is to just sit down with it and play around. Just press buttons and see what happens, I find that's the best way to learn any new software or app.

I took the iMac 🖥 for using it for school and games. But most of the part for school, and after that playing some good games with good quality. I have an iPad Pro too, but I use it when I’m going to school. When I’m coming back, for homework and projects I prefer using the iMax because the tablet has low battery 🔋 and I have to put it to charge. Now, what’s your opinion, do you think I can use the iMac 🖥 like that? I mean.. I’m not gonna use it for editing videos, because I’m not a UA-camr like you, I’m just saying.
Definitely! There's certain things I prefer a larger screen and separate keyboard/mouse for so the iMac works perfectly for that, and it sounds like that would also be beneficial for you when doing your homework and projects. The portability of the iPad to actually take to school and makes notes would work well, and then transfer to the iMac when you're home!

Hi. How is the white magic keyboard holding up after use. Does it get dirty quickly and do you recommend it
Hi! I thought it would get dirty quickly but it’s honestly not bad at all! You can’t see any fingerprints from day to day use. The edges have got a little dirty now I’ve had it for a few months but it’s nothing a quick wipe down can’t fix. I’m impressed with how it’s held up so far. Hope this helps!
