I bought an S2000 one month ago... I've been wondering how to lift it properly. I'm glad I watched this video it'll avoid me making costly mistakes. Thanks.
What I find useful is hard rubber hockey pucks placed on top of jack stands to protect car frame from metal to metal damage. They are about $2 each, cheap insurance.
Thanks your video was a great help. It was obvious that the last person to jack up the front driver's side put the jack too far forward.. I picked up the same jack from Canadian Tire on sale, most of the other jacks either are too high or don't have the reach to safely lift the car.
My way was as follows: -Jack left front up so high that I can put a jack stand on left rear - Pull on a fender a little if you want rear slightly higher -Lower left front and raise right front - Now because of 50-50 weight distribution the car is basically balancing diagonally -put a jack stand on left front and right rear - adjust height by hand :) -Put something next to the floor jack on right front - There is very little force involved here as car securely rests on 3 other jack stands with most of the force on left front and right rear one.
I'm using this kind of jack stands as you do, just a bit different shape of that cast part. I was using this method mostly because my jack is too short to reach reinforcement. Also I never go below car without "companion tree stump" :) big enough to be higher than my head and chest. So if anything goes wrong I'm not getting crushed.
No, I just went straight to this method. Actually I did some wooden rams long time ago for my CRX but they doesn't work well because I have slippery tiles in my garage and they ten to slip and jump when trying to go up on them.
Excellent how to video with good detail. Appreciate your pointing out the difference between the correct and incorrect front jack points. Question: I like the idea of protecting the diff with a hockey puck--could that make the jack less stable? Looking forward to your future videos--a video on swapping pads and rotors would be great.
Yes I would say that a hockey puck would make the floor jack less stable which is why you should always use jack stands and be safe. Never go under a car that is only being supported by the floor jack.
Paul Smyers I wanted to leave it in to show that there are mistakes that can happen and that I was guilty of it. Hopefully my mistake will help other people correct theirs.
Don't think he should be working on cars if he doesn't even know where to properly lift the car. Bro is taking about the damage on the car and is causing more by using weak points for the jack stands.
Thanks for the compliment. While I do agree that I am no mechanic, I thought that by making this video it would help the community. I have long sold my AP2 and focused on my career. Once you send me a better UA-cam video I'll highlight it in my comments so people don't waste their time. Have a good day!
Sorry I am not a UA-cam star or have a lot of money invested in equipment but that shouldn't stop people from trying their had at it. Maybe my next video will be up to your standard. Thanks for the reply.
Just exactly the video I needed! Thanks so much for being so concise in your video!!!

Congratulations 👏
Excellent video! Haters gonna hate. Just raised my S2K using this video. I focused on where NOT to jack it up from and all went smoothly. Thanks!
Bro that's a freaking excellent video. Very thorough. Thx

i miss when youtube video guides were like this. so clear
That license plate tho.😂
Holy shit I actually had jack stands on the FRONT part closest to the front wheel. I'm glad I didn't bend anything. Holy.
Very clear and helpful, great video!
Thanks for the clear views of the jacking points. That alone is worth watching this video.
Thanks for the comment.
I have a 1.5 ton jack. Would that work
Detailed vid for newbies like me
Thanks✌🏽✌🏽

Thanks for the comment fellow Canadian.
Good video! Thanks for the help.
One should always endeavour to keep one's pumpkin gouge-free.

mibars What kind of jack stand are you using? In theory it works but it also sounds like it takes more time and could be potentially more dangerous.
I'm using this kind of jack stands as you do, just a bit different shape of that cast part. I was using this method mostly because my jack is too short to reach reinforcement. Also I never go below car without "companion tree stump" :) big enough to be higher than my head and chest. So if anything goes wrong I'm not getting crushed.
mibars Have you tried driving your car into pieces of wood to help raise the car a bit so you can get at the subframe and differential?
No, I just went straight to this method. Actually I did some wooden rams long time ago for my CRX but they doesn't work well because I have slippery tiles in my garage and they ten to slip and jump when trying to go up on them.
Never gouge your pumpkin if you can avoid it.
Hey, im confused because you say not to put the jackstands on the non-overlapping frame rail but then you end up placing it there? Where the X is..
I made a mistake when filming, this is why there is an X and a triangle. Put your jack stands on the triangle.

Someone please tell me where he got that leather center console from.
It came with my 2006 USD S2000. Check out s2ki.com
What's the background music? Very nice vibe to it
Good job man
Why would you include the sections of video that are wrong? Why not just reshoot that so that it's correct?

How come it took you a year to reply to this comment? And why am I asking you this 2 years later?
Looks like you could do with a "how to adjust the handbrake" vid next 😀
lkjlkjlkkj Oh no trust me I know my way around phallic objects
What if I have big muscles and can lift the car with one arm. Do I still need jack stands?
Yes. Rhabdomyolysis.
12 steps and wrong jacking points left in the videos... Man you're gonna confuse the noobs that watches this video! 😂
I left that in there to show how easy it is to make a mistake.
I've been doing this all wrong till I saw this video.
Nice Vid!!! #madvtec
John thanks for the comment man.
