This server is my home. I have hundreds of hours on it, and I love it here.
I often stashed stuff in extremely hard-to-find places in the middle of the woods, and this team discovered everything. They found stashes that were literally invisible because of certain glitches.
After that, I established a base very far away from their base, hidden in the middle of the woods. This team found it and leveled it.
I was discouraged, but I knew that raids were part of the game. I had suspicions, so I placed a small base within 1000m of their base, hidden in the woods with two cars. My small base was raided the very next day, and the cars were gone.
Over the months, I witnessed people and teams quit this server because their bases got leveled, but I decided to stay because I love this community. I was highly suspicious of beavers using ESP and voiced my concerns to the admin several times.
I learned today that I was correct and that the beavers were not playing fairly. It hurts to see my arch-enemies banned, but it hurts even more to know that they did this to themselves by cheating.
I fully support the admin team on this server. They are the most humble and honest admins any player could hope for.
I appreciate their time and dedication to making every Dayz player's experience valid and meaningful.

Cheating in DayZ is a complete waste for everyone involved. Duping, esp any of it takes away the adrenaline, anxiety and rush that we all get from this amazing game.
it reminds me of oldschool 'game genie.' ya sure its wildly cool for the first hour...but after that, why even play anymore

i really hope thats true. i dont play dayz anymore, i just manage a home for others. at first i really wanted to play again but now, im very satisfied with what im doing. i just want to be good at it, for everyone elses sake.@@evs9404

when i first started playing dayz, it was official. everyone complained about cheaters but my group didnt see a SINGLE cheater for months. we thought everyone was blowing things up bigger than they were. then the cheaters came. every day. every official server we moved to. until we finally took the community leap@@evs9404

Should build a pre-fab or watchtower with no steps/no visual to the top, like a water tower or something and hide loot inside of it. See if they take interest in it
we dont get cheaters much, we are a 30 pop cap server bc our maps are half the size of official. we could always use new creative tips to catch ill-doers

It’s a shame that server admins have to go through so much ^^%}{. Had my server public for less than 30 days and our bot has auto banned nearly 100 people. We are a bear hunting, PVE only no base raid server. People don’t get that.
oh you mean they dont pay attention and just assume you can raid and pvp and what not? i always wondered why i see bans in my admin tools like "pvp in pve server" or "raided on a no raid server" like why would ppl even bother playing on a server where they cant do what they want to do?
I appreciate you tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, and that you tried to be thorough. Bottom line is, you made the wrong call here.
I watched this entire video and nothing you listed here is "proof," as it claims-- instead, it appears to be textbook examples of confirmation bias.
I don't think you acted maliciously, you had to make a tough call based on the information you had and the methods you used. They were just flawed, and the outcome is a mistake. Further, i think some of the folks cheering in the comments helped poison the well and make sure you made this mistake, because they didn't want this group competing with them next wipe.
You've always struck me as reasonable--- I hope you realize this is a mistake and clear these guys' names. They won't want to come back to your server-- they clearly aren't wanted-- so the people cheering for their bans will still get what they want.
im sorry you feel that way. a large part of me wants to convince every single person and show them every single video and prove my point but simply put, i dont have that time and i dont have to. aside from all of this, chiemsee is half the size as official servers. thats why we have a 30 player cap. and they were 12 of them and as of last night, i found out that number was at least 13, by their own team members admittance. theres NO competition when almost half the server is your team.
from the very first day, i told them the player cap was 5. they fought and fought and fought and bc of a few reasons, i gave up. one of them being, they basically said "well if we cant play with all of our friends then we have to go somewhere else." ok. ive watched my server die 3x bc one team has a crushing monopoly and ive watched 7 other servers, including tsb livonia, heroz, cycle, adventurers livonia, get crushed due to an overwhelming monopoly. and if you know tsb chernarus, the main most popular vanilla server ever, for years a 20 man just wipes the server every couple weeks. no fun. i dont want that here.
Those server size and playerbase concerns are fair reasons to take whatever action you deem appropriate as admin to protect your server. They are not fair reasons to publicly accuse someone of hacking when they have not. Take care.

But why go on to explain the team rule and server health? Better yet, why not title this video "I had to ban a "FAMILY" for breaking team size rules" and leave it at that, rather than claiming it's much worse and you have secret evidence you are unwilling to share?
I'm not even disputing your right to ban people from your server, just to recklessly claim in writing you have "proof" of cheating when in the video you yourself acknowledge it's not proof-- just conjecture based on "experiments" held by people who seem to have a very specific outcome in mind.
Again, I hope you clear their names of the false accusations when your conscience gets the better of you.
well lets not forget as cool as it is that these vids are getting 1k-2k views, this was ONLY meant for members of the server to see. and they DO have the ability to see the proof. the 'not proof' guy where i saw constant examples, i banned him for exactly that...suspicion. any admin can see i dont have proof for that one. says so in the ban. the other two, the ESP guys, the proof is solid. viewing party in our discord for those who want closure on their cheating teammates, and as well for ppl not involved so they can see how conclusive the evidence was, so the new ppl who DONT know me will learn to trust our judgment like many of our other members have.@@robingoodfellow666

i know ppl that have been wrongfully banned. ppl that have a 'proof video' that contradicts the exact same footage taken from the admins perspective, and it sucks to love a specific game so much and be wrongfully branded as a cheater, ending up in them not being able to play 70% of the community servers (CF based) ever again, just bc every admin sees "cheater ban" and re-banning, without any evidence.
The foresight to film setting up bait stashes and having johnny find them on record would’ve been an entertaining video and made a compelling case against him, “To Catch a Cheater” style
ya its WAY harder than just thinking about a scenario and it perfectly working. when i built a bait base...it took hours before he found it. when i did bait stashes, it took days before he was in the area within 1000m. and when i put other bait stashes but in front of him where i thought he was going, he would change to the opposite direction. and when i placed 3 cars, he did nothing for 4 hours until i logged off and an hour later when i logged on, he was already on the 3rd car.
i wish everything happened the way i wanted it to in my head but it doesnt.
loot esp is one of the hardest cheats to prove

Very thorough job well done, better to be safe than sorry! Sad that people like this are around, you gave them the benefit of the doubt, which was a very nice thing to do. I'm sure not many would have even bothered to take the time to listen in the first place. But the leopards spots stayed the same and you got stabbed in the back, despicable behaviour. I really struggle to see what they get out of playing like that, surely its no fun?
Its interesting to me, i was thinking of trying teaming up, but now am sceptical as how would i know if they are or were cheaters? Im barely competent enough to stay alive, nevermind recognise cheating behaviour lol.

I recently went on disability leave from my job with some broken bones and thought about starting Day Z to kill some time for the next 6 to 8 weeks. It sounds like the game might be too toxic / shitty to have any fun. Is there really no way to detect cheating besides playing detective as an admin? Why are so many people in the comments upset by these bans? If Tomato is telling the truth, it sounds pretty obvious that cheating is going down. Somebody give me a reason to start playing. I beg.
regarding the negative comments, most of them are the ppl i banned. i can tell bc their YT names and accounts have similarities with their reddit accounts (they use to support our ads there) and similarities with their in game names that they change every couple days. we have records of all of that ;)
regarding the game, there IS cheating. only real way to reduce that the most is to play low pop servers. like less than 10 ppl. it happens, its a part of it. there is software but its kinda useless the way cheats evolve so fast. definitely not being rude here but even if i DID convince you to play, there are 100 reasons a player might quit dayz anyway. its a steep learning curve and in a lot of cases, requires a tough skin. you can do ANYTHING in dayz. there are ppl that will betray. you could spend 500 hours building a base and one team comes in and takes all those hours from you. and then theres glitches bc the games not perfect. but check out the DayZ official discord. although biased, there are plenty of players that will tell you what they dont like about dayz.

funny thing, when i banned 6 ppl (3 cheating, 3 playing w cheaters), only the two ppl 100% confirmed cheating w a previous ban of cheating did NOT try to defend themselves. case closed.

they do ruin everything, but the "and for what" part, i actually sympathize with some cheaters. theres a wide range of cheaters, many of them i can totally understand, and i get why they do it...while being 100% against it in every case.
example...dudes got 4 kids and a wife, no free time to himself, not enough sleep...just has a couple hours a night to have a couple drinks and play the game he loves. spends 2.5 hours looting only to get domed without seeing a thing and he feels like he cant get any satisfaction in the very little free time he has. so he adds ESP bc he doesnt have the time it takes to invest in dayz to become better. he just wants a LITTLE happiness in his life.

It always sucks when this type of thing happens. cheaters poison everything they touch. Allowing any of them to come at all was a serious olive branch and mad respect for not shuttering the door just because of an accusation. These guys pushed their way in and were prepared to lie, cheat, and do whatever it took to proliferate their shitty fucking dayz experience on others. The worst type of people u find anywhere. No morals, no respect, just a single minded obsession with getting loot and not having to work for it. Insane. How many weeks did they play on the server? What were their stats? Hours played?

literally when they went to 6, i DID jump all over them bc our discord was like "what? AGAIN?" bc we had another big team a month or so earlier. i raised the concerns, we came up w a 5 man rule, then i found the previous violating team AND TWO OTHER TEAMS ABOVE 5 that knew better and still did it so i threw my hands up and was like "screw it...you guys wanna do huge teams? fine. go do it."
then the server died AGAIN, all parties involved were like "ok...we get it now" so on wipe, we put a hard 5 man cooperation rule.

From reading the comments, what I gather as being the primary animus, is that - they took advantage of your good will.
Which is horrible, because you seem to have moved on and no doubt you'll still be willing to offer the benefit of the doubt in the future to different players claiming unfair banning.
But...
It might make you also less likely - which is sad because it creates a grim sense of distrust when 'cheaters' take advantage of good hearted people.

cheater is always they will never play legit it’s too hard for them to because of some deep reasons they have to always win be the best of everyone no matter the cost. It gos back to their morals taught to them by their parents and grandparents. I have played games from the start of gaming back when pong came out. I’m 64 years old never cheated in any game. I love dayz but I too quite official servers because of cheaters. I would log in in bushes to get shot within 2 seconds. I play Pve servers now . I have been killed well over 100 times and only shot 1 player in 8 years on dayz. I have great respect for you admin doing all your work. Shouldn’t have to have admin having to police this game but there will always be cheaters Thank for your story and keep up the good work. 😊😊
if it wasnt for cheaters, i would never have created a server and given up playing. id still be a player. luckily, i LOVE what i do now.
So used to love northmen, but ever since I heard about the admin abuse, it's not worth playing there to get shared ban , so even if the rumors aren't true fuck that if I can't play dayone I'd cry cause I killed the wrong guy

i miss the guys that quit over the cheaters success. yeah, sure...lots of dayz players are soft and quit after a few deaths or a base being raided...but when its done by a cheater and they quit...who knows, if the cheaters didnt cheat them, maybe the innocent would have played for another 100 hours and fallen in love w dayz and stayed. i gotta stop thinking about this lol

@@TomatoKingRAW I can’t say anything about your server I was just here to watch the video, I’m an admin on a different server but I was just stating in general blatant cheaters always ruins good servers so I agree I hope you did catch the cheaters in time so you didn’t lose anybody in the server that’s been there a while or generally likes the server a lot until cheaters come in. I don’t even get the point of cheating it takes all the fun out of it.

I've heard many stories coming out of northmen about banning people. Even some friends of mine who i for sure know weren't cheating. Not sure how they manage to push their bans through CF.
if a server has CF and they place a ban, you can keep it local (your server) or public (anyone who uses CF). you write a reason for the ban and everyone can see it. small servers might investigate but SUPER popular server sets like northmens or spaggies or DayOne...they get 20-50 tickets a day...they cant investigate to the end of time.
the hard part is, ive heard the northmens stories also and it seems like there might be some merit to wrongful bans...but every REAL cheater would HAPPILY cry wrongful ban to hide among the wrongfully accused. thats what happened here, unfortunately, and im the idiot.

@@DemonicAngelKiller incorrect. cheaters RARELY tell their team theyre cheating. they want to appear as if they are very good. and most of the time it doesnt matter how much youre watching someone...they can turn their cheats on and off. player ESP for example. lots of cheaters play like normal w no cheats until they start hearing shots or start getting their ass kicked. then they flip the cheats on, get a kill, and flip cheats off. no admin can SEE that. unless of course you can see a player chasing another player without even being able to see him. even then, you would have to see the victim change multiple directions and the 'cheater' follow without being able to see him. and THEN you would have to get a second example or more. you cant just ban ppl bc you THINK theyre cheating. too much dayz coincidence.

I despise cheaters, they ruin games, I actually agree with one of your comments, cheaters don’t change, they’re fundamentally dishonest people who will spin all kinds of stories to admins, like they have in this situation. I imagine once he was green lighted to play the server, he played legit for a week or two knowing the admin would be watching, then reverted to, or brought in his esp buddy once he felt he could get away with it.
i only know when i know. see, you play for hours and love the game. i have to sit at my comp and watch a bunch of nothing going on for hours and hours. every day. and i have a job. and i sleep. even if i watched 8 hours a day, i have to convince TWO OTHER PPL to sit and security guard watch for the other two 8 hour shifts...every day...forever.
official has no admins, you never find out. and i needed real proof, like northmens didnt do. if you dont want to play the server anymore, i get it. but i dont understand me banning cheaters on the server youre playing on and THATS why you dont wanna play.
@TomatoKingsRAW-ps5px It's because you let known cheats play. It's because you stated a max team of 5 and they said OK and then had 12 but still they were allowed to play on. Teams that big are clearly going to ruin it for everyone else. The most I have seen on the server is 7. I wouldn't want 6 of those to be one team. When I saw the size of their bases, I was suspicious of them. I was an admin, so I know the work involved. I stopped doing it because the owner who I really liked, did something similar and fair players suffered for it.

they are not, but they are low to medium pop. if you dont want to encounter people, you really dont have to most of the time. and you can always be a part of a team where your job is not in the field, like i use to do. base builder, stash organizer, ninja looter, things like that. but loss in dayz is critical to truly experience dayz. id ask you to reconsider going to a PvE server, in general.
Thanks Tomato King i will re think my choices over. I was born into DayZ on official L.A. servers and understand the pure adrenaline and thrill of the hunt, and the sadness of the loss. Would not mind trying it out if possible. I will join the Discord asap.

Most admins do not spend nearly as much time to ban people for blatant esping. And what you are describing is trailer trash levels of blatant. These imbeciles were flat out cheating, and our enjoying themselves dumping all over your server. Ages 14-24, and the emotional intelligence of a fish. I am betting 10 bux their life achievement revolved around that stupid base, while everyone else hated themselves. In my opinion, you need to ban right immediately once suspicious play is detected, and they can appeal afterward, like everyone else handles this. You are hurting your server by treating this as if it was a court of law, and the standard is beyond any reasonable doubt. No, for the sake of everyone else, which is the majority of players, the standard should merely be: more likely this rather than that, and they can appeal.
Also, never ever tell cheaters how you caught them. You are only teaching them how to avoid detection in the future.
ya its tough. they were not detected until very late, even after watching them dozens of times. most cheaters turn their cheats on and off regularly. they turn them on when theyre doing VERY important missions, and then right back off. or they turn them on when theyre getting their ass handed to them. when they WERE detected, we ran a series of tests within a week or so and the other evidence came mostly from them reacting to admins and staff, not players. youll see the first 'blatant' cheating we were aware of soon. its titled "To Catch A Cheater." they never did anything CLOSE to that before.

thats what the last 2 groups said. and i took that into account. i looked at the last 3 weeks of all 12 of them, added all of their hours together...not even 100 hours. only a couple "played." more like, AFK in their towers on a server they almost 50% dominate by being half the pop cap, or they were filling seachests so they could start on wipe day and dominate the server from now until november.
btw id rather have a dead server for a couple weeks than put up with cheaters and ppl that go against the rules (team max 5) since literal day one. if i never made an exception for them on that rule AFTER they broke it, they wouldnt be here to ban anyway.
check battlemetrics in a couple weeks. we are rank 1059 now.

cant help but think this is one of the 7 that got banned. 4 of the 7 either admitted guilt, or admitted something fishy was going on in the ranks, or at the very least are still having civil convos w me. that only leaves 3 others...
i cannot IMAGINE a random other member NOT involved in this at all is leaving OUR server over cheaters getting banned. definitely interesting.
