7 Benefits of Using Collagen Daily - Thomas DeLauer
    Skin Health
A study, published in Skin Pharmacology and Physiology, had 114 women aged 45-65 years were randomized to receive 2.5 g of collagen or placebo, once daily for 8 weeks, with 57 subjects being allocated to each treatment group
Found that women who took collagen regularly for 8 weeks saw a 20% reduction in wrinkles
Additionally, after 8 weeks of intake a statistically significantly higher content of procollagen type I (65%) and elastin (18%) in the collagen-treated volunteers compared to the placebo-treated patients was detectedt
For fibrillin, a 6% increase could be determined after collagen treatment compared to the placebo
    www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2...
Procollagen I is capable of stimulating the production of type I and type III collagen and fibronectin
Elastin is a key extracellular matrix (ECM) protein that provides resilience and elasticity to tissues and organs
Fibrillin is a glycoprotein, which is essential for the formation of elastic fibers found in connective tissue
    Joints
Study - Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry
Joint pain in the subjects (80) had been present for 3 months or longer at enrollment
Subjects were divided into two groups and administered either 2 g of collagen or placebo for 70 days
The tolerability profile of the treatment group was comparable to that of the placebo. Intent-to-treat analysis showed that the treatment group, as compared to placebo, had a significant reduction of pain on day 70
The collagen group experienced a significant improvement in physical activities compared to the placebo group on days 35 and 70
    www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2...
    Sleep
Glycine is the primary amino acid in collagen, making up about 33% - it helps lower body temperature - glycine works to increase blood flow to the body’s extremities, which reduces core body temperature via vasodilatation (through the activation of NMDA receptors in the SCN shell)
Important as our body operates a process called thermoregulation on a 24-hour circadian cycle, as does the sleep-wake cycle that allows it to adjust core temperature
Our body temperature slightly decreases at night as a slight drop in body temperature is needed for the body’s physical progression into sleep
*Our thermoregulatory system is abolished during rapid eye movement sleep (REM), due to a loss of thermosensitivity in the majority of the hypothalamic preoptic neurons.
Thermosensitivity during REM is not completely depressed; however, sensitivity to hot or cold stimulation is reduced in REM compared to non-REM and wakefulness
The suggested bedroom temperature should be between 60 and 67 degrees F for optimal sleep
Glycine as a sleep promoter, specifics:
The sleep-promoting and hypothermic effects of glycine are mediated by NMDA receptors in the suprachiasmatic nucleus
Glycine also inhibits the activity of orexin neurons, which are critical for arousal, energy homeostasis, and reward-seeking
    Liver Health
Glycine along with L-taurine are necessary for the synthesis of bile salts
Glycine deficiency may reduce the liver’s ability to synthesize bile - Bile acts as an emulsifier to fats, and is essential for the digestion of fat and fat-soluble vitamins
Bile is also important to inhibit pathogenic bacterial overgrowth, such as clostridium and candida albicans
In studies, glycine has shown to be a therapeutic immuno-nutrient for alcoholic liver disease
    www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1...
    Hormonal Balance
Glycine can potentially help in menopause because of its estrogen-like bone protective effects
A study from the journal Amino Acids investigated the estrogen-like osteoprotective effects of glycine (a main ingredient of placenta) in in vitro and in vivo models of menopause
Glycine induced the up-regulation of estrogen receptor-β mRNA expression - moreover, glycine significantly increased the serum 17β-estradiol levels reduced by ovariectomy
    www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2...
    Recovery
Two main processes for healing torn or ruptured muscles: regeneration of muscle fibers simultaneously with the production of connective scar tissue.
The key to both of these processes is collagen formation.
In a study by Europe PMC, measuring the rates of collagen protein production for 3 weeks after a muscle rupture, scientists found collagen synthesis rates to be heightened in muscle cells during this time
    Brain Health
It’s been found that a certain type of collagen, collagen VI, protects brain cells against amyloid-beta (Aβ) proteins, which are widely thought to cause Alzheimer's disease (AD)

I have been using collagen now daily for the last 3 weeks now in my morning coffee. I feel much better and my husband has noticed greater stability and strength. Also, I have been giving it to my partially crippled puggle, who is 10 plus years old. I was told that he would live no longer than 6 months. A vast improvement for him. I've been giving it to him for at least 2 months now. He's able to walk fast and get n and out of the house now without being carried. I am so grateful.

I started taking collagen at the age of 17 after experiencing a knee injury from wrestling. Doctors recommended cortisone or surgery. The doctor was really pushy about the cortisone so I caved. One month later I'm making an appointment for the surgery. After the recovery process I continued to experience tightness and extreme aches in my knees. I decided to do my own research and came across collagen peptides. Ever since I've been pain free. I went from barely being able to walk and be happy to living normal and working out on a consistent basis. HIGHLY RECCOMEND.

My mother died from Alzheimer’s complications but I believe hers was brought on by statin drugs 😢. I wish I’d have known about this way back then too. I’d have supplemented her diet with collagen. I’ve lost 68lbs on Keto but noticed my skin getting loose. I’m hoping the collagen peptides help with firmness and elasticity from here on out.

Thanks so much Thomas!!! You are inspirational!!! I use collagen (bone broth) everyday. I’ve noticed after my hard workouts my muscles don’t feel totally wasted. That’s super important for me as I am lifting weights (I walk a lot too) and the fact that I don’t feel totally worn out helps me continue to do my weight lifting. I believe a reason I stopped lifting weights in the past was due to the ragged way I felt afterward. Sticking with the lifting and bone broth, I’ve noticed I’m getting (girly) guns!!!! 💪🏻I’ve also noticed an increase in the health and the texture of my hair, nails and skin in general- face it- for women and men to look less tired and NOT your age is a huge plus!!!

      Hi !!🌞
I'm sorry to hear that, all I know is that you have to drink the right type of collagen . What I drink is : ORGANIKA "Full Spectrum " Collagen Type 1,2,3
Before that I drink "just" collagen and I did not have any results..
This 1 2 3 is different. Sometimes you have to wait 5 months to see any positive changes, I achieved it after 3 months..but, also completely changed my diet, which certainly helped to keep my hair from falling out...And one more thing I start to rub in my scalp is NEEM Oil...🙈 suppose to help, but I just start and is to early to say that it help...CHeck this info about this oil on You Tube. I hope this will help you...good luck 👍🌞

Of special interest to me: 8:33 ... I don't do protein shakes. Instead, I normally have a 12 oz bone broth with 2 scoops of collagen post workout and have noticed I'm not sore after a full day of intense hilly terrain hiking. Not coincidentally, on days I don't have the broth with collagen I've noticed it takes me longer to recover.

31 year old man here. I started with retinol lowest dose for around eyes and forehead, and after 6 weeks the wrinkles around eyes are less visable and the skin is clear and smoother. I'm usually very sceptical. So I then tried marine collagen. After 5 weeks of 10g a day this combination I look 3-4 years younger around the eyes and forehead. I also wear suncream every day. Amazing results especially when I bumped into old school mate I disliked 😄

Now that I am several days back into taking it again, the stress has gone down 👍....Just saying💪

I can definitely attest to the benefits of collagen, especially when used with the Keto diet. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and have outrageously high inflammation levels. For the past 6 months my Rheumatologist has been doing a happy dance because my bloodwork hasn’t looked this great in years. Not to mention I haven’t had to have any cortisone injections.
