    This is only a 6x6" cube, people. It's not going to cool your room it's going to cool your personal space. #1 - freeze the filter #2 use ice cubes in the water tray, put it about 3-4 feet away from you. You step out of the zone, you're not going to feel cool anymore. I work for long periods in front of my computer, and it's perfect for that. Even after the filter thaws and the ice is melted, it's still cooler than just having a fan.

    I was really impressed that you used a temperature gun when testing out if it cools super hot air (from the hair dryer) Great Review; you proved this really does work. Maybe not as much as some people would like it to work, but it works a lot better than the original! 😃

      I was impressed with this product. Even with some really hot temperatures this item cooled off the air. I'll look forward to using this during the hot summer months.

    I’m two minutes in and I already like your style of review. To the point and not a lot of unnecessary information. To me it reminds me of a swamp cooler which works in arid and dry regions to put moisture in the air to cool it as opposed to Florida where water (humidity) is extracted

    1. It's basically a tiny swamp cooler. Which are fine in dry air conditions. 2. They could drop the price by eliminating the built in light. Why do you need that? 3. It should come with two filters so you can be freezing one while using the other. All that said, it might be perfect for a smaller truck camper like mine. I'll consider it. Thanks for the great review.

      You're right this is better in a small space. Some people like the light for night. I don't really care for it either.

    I love my Artic Air. I have the original model and have been using it for over two years. It is a "personal space" cooler and is not made to cool an entire room. Mine has worked for what it was designed to do. I sleep with it on my night stand and use it in the day on my desk when I am working. I use distilled water in it just so there is no scale buildup. No complaints here.

    • @Jeffreviews4u

      I've heard many like the original over the new one. The main complaint has been the change with the plug. Thanks for sharing the tip with the distilled water.

      Great demonstration! I have the Arctic air tower it’s bigger its a cylinder shaped one but I’m a little confused ... the arctic original is cube shaped and the upgrade ultra is also cubed shaped as you’ve just demonstrated here for us today so where does the the cylinder shaped one fit into all of this I’m a little confused 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Great Review! I'm thinking of getting this product. Of course knowing that it isn't going to cool a big space. It's great to have people like you testing products to help people decide whether it's worth spending money on them.

    I have 4 of these to replace my existing artic air v1. It is slightly bigger with an adjustable front vent. The fan is much more powerfull then the existing artic air. And the new filter is better than the old thin paper one.
    From my experience living in Hawaii it gets hot year round. This product is intended for personal use but it will tend to cools the air around me in an hour if used the right way. As all reviews will say. Freeze the filter. Add ice cold water and ice chips in the top for full effect. Make sure to have a second and 3rd filter ready every 1-2 hours. I will say tho. It does the job right when I need it the most during the hot and humid summer days.

    I bought this a few days ago and will let anyone know that with the small effort required freezing the filter and adding ice cubes to the water this DOES WORK awsome I love it ..it really is (for me anyway) like a real air conditioner although it won't cool an entire big room it will certainly cool any reasonable smaller space and the fan blows amazingly far 6 feet away and I feel the cool air on me . Best 60$ (in Canada) I've spent in a long time !

    Nice to see a positive review about this product! Many people talk bad about this and the original version. I've used both the revised original version w/ the adjustable vents and the 2019 version and I'm pleased with them both. As you said it's about the realistic expectation it creates a comfortable micro climate around you vs cooling a whole room which it's not capable of doing. I don't freeze the filters and I'm sitting in about 80-85 degrees and it's blowing out 59-63 degree air which is comfortable to me. Only other thing that is worth mentioning is this will not work in higher humidity levels 50% or higher forget it. Even at 30-40% mark you will start seeing extremely reduced performance unfortunately. I've seen another reviewer using it in 40-45%+ humidity levels and saying it doesn't work well, clearly they don't understand how evaporative cooling works!

    • @Jeffreviews4u
      @Jeffreviews4u  5 років тому +1

      Thanks for the comment, if the buyer realizes that this unit is meant for individual use they will be very happy. They should not expect a $40 whole room air conditioner. I appreciate the tip on humidity, I wonder if a frozen filter would help in areas with higher humidity.

      Thanks for saying something about it not working in high humidity. I just saw one at a local store by me and was tempted, but wanted to check reviews first. I live in Michigan, where the humidity is pretty much always higher than 50%. So, I would think this product wouldn't work for me.

  • @tmst2199
    @tmst2199 5 років тому +10

    Evaporative air coolers work best in dry climates. The cooling performance is directly proportional to the rate of water evaporation. Just FYI.

    I have a problem with overheating while I sleep. I’ve seen mixed reviews on this thing. I used to sleep with a fan blowing in my face and replaced it with this thing. I can tell you it really works. It takes at least 40 minutes of running before it really cools down. I’ve not gone back to the fan in 3 months. I love it. My wife who is always cold absolutely hates it because it truly works. You will have better results if you use distilled water also. Nice review though.

      The ice in water would certainly remove the heat from the room, however, water alone will also help through latent heat of evaporation. This is at best a Humidifier/De-Humidifier depending on your climate. Its misleading to call it an air-conditioner in the strictest sense although it does adjust the temperature.

    The machine has to break the surface tension of water atomize it and make a copper magnet move so because it doesn't say how to destroy energy in the form of heat like destroying matter its just a fan with a humidifier and overall will make the room hotter and more humid because you're turning electric current and potential energy into kinetic energy that will turn into heat energy just for your body because it doesn't displace heat energy out of a room it only creates it but if you place it facing you technically it will displace the heat that is with you elsewhere in the room. That's why we've been using ac for the past 999 googleplexian years in the burbs with our google years old houses

    Filter froze rather quickly. Using it now.
    PRPS: fan is impressively stronger than I anticipated. I'm sitting about 5 feet. From it and can feel it quite nicely on high and medium settings. More subtle on low but can still feel it.
    Pretty quiet overall. A little more noticeable on high but nowhere near an AC even a regular fan. Think more along the lines of a PC. Which is not surprising since it is powered by a PC powersupply fan.
    Takes up little space. Is only about 7 inches cubed, so is very portable and cord routing tabs are convenient and useful.
    CONS: must be literally right on front of unit within a few feet of fan in order to feel.
    It is not (as some claim) a cooler, but moreover a personal space cooler.
    The surrounding area/air/room temp will/does not change.
    Freezing the filter didn't seem to help much.
    Chilling the water for the tank to just below freezing, along with freezing the filter should make a lot of difference as this water is drawn up into the filter.

    This is a personal ac cooler. It's only intended to cool you down if it's in close proximity. However, I bought two of tem but is was marketed under Cool Air. The units are identical although this New version has a removable/changeable filter. The units I bought worked fine for a couple of months with the first one and a couple of days for he second one. Used it to cool me while I was at my computer station. About 2 feet away.
    I would not want to buy another one now since it looks like they did not improve this much. Let's see if it's still working a few months from now. Cheap and doesn't last for very long. I kind of knew it might go kaput so I bought two of them. Bad investment.
