No one will ever sing this tune better than Jim Morrison himself. With that being said, Eddie sounded really good here, and he did the song justice in my opinion.
He's the only person I've seen sing with them that was being themselves and not just being a karaoke Jim. He was genuinely being part of the band and mixing things up...sounded like a slight miscommunication towards the end where he had the audience participation and Ray expected another repeated line...I think Eddie was their favourite singer. Certainly John said he was the only one he'd rejoin Ray and Robbie with. Precisely because, I think, he was being himself and genuinely being a musician. Not someone who just sang the song exactly as Jim did and was predictable. The band was always about Jim's unpredictable lyrical meanderings and if Eddie had been up for it, with practice and getting to know each other better as musicians it could have worked out brilliantly.
im not the biggest pearl jam/eddie vedder fan and the doors are my favorite band ever and i must say, that eddie vedder absolutely killed this. so awesome.
While it may sound like existential philosophy, it's really just about drinking too much the night before and downing a cold beer to soften the blow of a vicious hangover. Not judging, I've done it myself.
People you need to understand something. Eddie Vedder wasn't there to impersonate Jim Morrison, he was there to sing it in his own style which The Doors considered to be a great fit for their songs. God you people are too damn stupid and narrow-minded. Morrison was awesome, and so is Eddie, both awesome musicians and awesome vocalists. Much love for them, much pity for you who try to compare them and trash talk bout Eddie.
Agreed. I'm a big Who fan and I fricken LOVE Eddie's covers of so many of their songs. He isn't Daltry, and Daltry isn't Eddie. Both have their own styles and sound, and both KICK ASS on the Who songs! And I love the drummer whose name I can't recall who used to be with Soundgarden. I was never a Pearl Jam fan until this week when I've been home with some medical issues and watching videos on UA-cam.
Eddie vedder is a horrible vocalist. the only reason I know what's being sung here is because I know and love the song so much. it is not because I can understand Vedder's mumbling!
He forgot the "The future is uncertain and the end is always near" part. Luckily, the band handled the situation as they used to do with Morrison, haha.
Damn you can tell Eddie is sure enjoying this, and the band looks like they are really enjoying having him! Some awesome chemistry here! RIP Jim and RIP Ray now!
eddie is lucky to sing with these guys, and these guys are lucky to have eddie. Everyone should be happy. If eddie drank half a bottle of whisky before going on, then it might even be better
I absolutely love this! The energy is amazing. Everyone especially robby is feelin the grove. Eddie gave me goose bumps, it totally blows my mind how much he sounds like jim. This band was the foundation of so much. I can't thank you enough .

No one can touch Jim Morrison by a mile. Having said that, excellent job Mr. Vedder you rock dude aces. A+ from a person who has had Jim in his heart for 40 years.
Eddie Vedder stood next to Joey Ramone and filled some mighty big shoes for Jim Morrison. Eddie is LEGENDARY. Oh and I forgot Mick Jagger too...the boy gets around!
I remember when I first listened to Pearl Jam/Eddie back in 6th grade '92. Mom comes in, hears the songs, and says, "Who's that? He reminds me of Jim Morrison."
Eddie & Jim both sing with deep voices so OBVIOUSLY Eddie could sound like Jim and at the same time put some of himself in there. You can tell they love Eddie's singing
Fantastic rendition of one of my favs of all time. Crowd didn't deserve that amazing piece. Piano, guitar, drums vocals - all spot on. Jim would be proud.
Eddie's so happy here its adorable Robbie is the most underrated guitar player in rock Eddy Vedder, has played with so many different bands. His versatility is unreal.

Must have been such a blast for the three surviving Doors to do this, can you imagine all the flashbacks to their glory days... Don’t know much about Eddie Vedder but those are some huge Rock n Roll shoes to fill and I think he did a pretty amazing job. You can see Ray was totally only the groove there 🤘
I’m not a fan of Ed Ved at all, but he was perfect here. You know sometimes you get astounded at what people can do when they’re placed in a new setting. 11 years ago I saw The Faces (in the new setup) with Mick Hucknall on vocals. And he absolutely killed it. I was awestruck.
He's really versatile that is for sure!! I love PJ and find all the covers they do are top notch ... Vedder is up there with Layne Staley in my opinion. The greats ...
No one will ever sing this tune better than Jim Morrison himself. With that being said, Eddie sounded really good here, and he did the song justice in my opinion.
+Timliu92 Vetter really was the only one with a similar vocal quality. I've always said Jim Morrison was the ultimate rockn' roll singer.
yes very well said
1 pick as my R/R male vocalist:Jim Morrison.

Timliu92 except for Jimmy Fallon
Like it or not, Eddie was the perfect fill in for Jim. NO ONE will ever out sing Jim on his own song, but Eddie surely did the song justice.
In addition, look how happy they all look! Everyone obviously enjoyed themselves
clearly you haven't seen creeds version lol
Also look up travis Meeks covers the doors. Probably the best. He is from days of the new. Voice it spot on...
Scott Weiland did very well singing Break On Through. Not better then Jim of course but still it was good.
Yes he did even though he missed some lyrics at the end
i love it how Eddie just stands in the background during the solo. Shows total respect and a brilliant performance
vern russell he always does with older guys from great bands he is humble and respectful
Yes, that was a classy move
I came here for this comment. Totally can't agree more.
Eddie is always classy and respectful. Love him! 🤘
Robbie is the most underrated guitar player in rock

@@zanghi_6177 Oh, yes. Andy Summers for sure.
Robbie is adequately rated.
dane vore Alex lifeson rush is great as well
Why do you rate him so badly?

Its amazing how the work together and complement each other
There missing one piece
Ray and Robby in particular are locked in step like Blackmore/Lord.
It's like they never stopped.
Actually they sound better than ever. Amazing what good equipment and sobriety will do for a band
Gotta love that little snippet of Elenor Rigby that Robbie plays during his solo at 2:05. One legend’s homage to another. Very cool!
im not the biggest pearl jam/eddie vedder fan and the doors are my favorite band ever and i must say, that eddie vedder absolutely killed this. so awesome.
Scott from stp . Is the best voice for the doors. After Jim of course

I'm sure Eddie felt honored to play with them, however, he deserves it. Sad to see Manazarek is gone. RIP

As The Doors are my favorite band I think a tour with Eddie on vocals would’ve been a great thing for the band. Love this rendition.
