@@THEAMERICAN-ob2wt Agreed, but the opposite of addiction is not sobriety but it is meaningful connection which is sorely lacking in our culture and this is why people become addicted. Therefore addiction is created by trauma rather than weakness and it is always other people that traumatize people who then turn to drugs to escape their pain which is more real than the sham of a cruel and weak society that always blames the victims of the injustices it perpetrates. American and Australian cultures are soulless , shallow and violent - it's no wonder there is a drug epidemic that is destroying lives - I'm actually referring to pharmaceutical drugs which kill more people than all illegal drugs combined. i was lucky enough to see Ray and Robbie perform together in 2012 in Austria. The Doors were one of the first bands that introduced me to the magic of music and to actually witness these guys playing together was one of the best experiences of my life. Ray introduced the band members by calling them a „Love Machine“ while playing the keys to the intro of Touch me concluding the introduction by introducing himself to the audience saying „and i‘m Ray Manzarek and i am a Love Machine!“ one year later he passed away and i will be forever grateful to have witnessed these men playing together and unfolding their magic. I just had broken up with my girl back then. i was shattered to the ground and they came and lifted me back up again when i needed it the most. Thank you Ray and rest in love. ✌️
Great story. I have yet to meet any Doors, but I retain faith that it’ll happen. I have been to visit Jim in Paris a couple times, though. The music reminds me of happier times in my life, and lifts my spirits.
Never was a Pearl Jam fan, I was a Nirvana Gu y. But even Kurt liked Eddie and he was perfect for the induction of one of my favorite and one of the greatest American bands of all time especially in the British invasion. God bless all these guys and thank you Eddie
Well that was an absolute joy!!!!! God bless Jim and big Ray. And big love to Robbie and John. What I’d have given to see the Doors play live. Wish I’d been around in that whole era.
damn this was really good ! i know eddie vedder couldn't show up to rehearsal so he messed up a bit but honestly his knowledge of "dead cats, dead rats" and the "bum bum bum bum" part on " light my fire" (which was probably learned by listening to absolutely live and live at the hollywood bowl) amazed me! he did a great job considering he didn't have much practise.
Wow! Doors have always been in their own world! One of the greatest bands ever. They had the vibe of the 60's in their souls! Plus they play my favorite song ever! " Light My Fire " I believe was number one for at least 6 weeks!
John Densmore was once asked who his choice to sing would be if the Doors ever did a reunion show like Pink Floyd Did for Live 8. Without hesitation he said Eddie Vedder. Sadly with the passing of Ray Manzarek, that will never happen!
90's Pearl Jam/ Vedder fan here, I remember this gig very well. I downloaded songs/Mp3's from Napster late 90's and listened to the songs a million times. Never saw the video though, first time I'm watching this...and I'm in awe!! Great memories! Don't you flippin love YT!! lol. Tnx for the upload @LeFantasque!!
Eddie Vedder conjuring up his Inner Jim Morrison is magnificent. The Doors created a sound that is instantly recognizable and yet very few (perhaps The Stranglers?) have ever been able to replicate.
Jim Morrison and The Doors in my opinion is a scholar poet. He is someone that represents the past present and future of what is magical about our world and universe!
I am blessed to have seen you 3,and Jim Morrison, live, at the University of Michigan on Oct 20th, 1967. The worst concert in the world, turned into the greatest concert in the century. Absolutely killed it. 🎉WOW. 56 years later, I still have have your unique artistic sound in my heart and soul. Thanks forever ❤❤😊😊
What a remarkable memory. I’m quite younger than yourself, but I’ve been a fan for over 20 years now, since the first time I really listened. I’ve gone to visit Jim in Paris a couple times, and they remain my #1 band. I truly hope to meet Robbie and/or John one day soon.
45 now... was about 16 when I seriously got into The Doors... amazing band who will see out the test of time. Love Eddie, but he isn't Jim, but did a good job all the same. The way the band can go off and bring it all back together again is truly remarkable. True graats of their craft.
My favorite band since I was 12 years old and discovered my brothers best of doors album part 1 & 2. I played that album over and over. If i had one wish it would have been to been alive for the 60s and the 70s and to have seen the Doors live.
I think that the nineties were really like the sixties. In a musical sense especially. The Doors, MC5 made the first beam of the bridge that was finished in the nineties. I was born in 1992. in Croatia and I have only gratitude for The Doors who really helped me in my dark alleys of life. Bless to everyone reading this! The sixties and the ninties were an echo of Romanticism. From Shelley, Byron, Chateaubriand all the way to Morirson. We must continue the groove of that melody, continue to break, break on through the other side!
WOW! First time I'v watched this! The majority of the Doors playing 20 years later, with one great lead Spokesman! Nice job Eddie! Rock on Doors and Pearl Jam...
Morrison's father, George, was an Admiral in the Navy, and oversaw naval operations during the Gulf of Tonkin incident that led to the US war in Vietnam. According to his obituary, he was once the youngest Admiral in the nation's fleet. As a young man, he was also stationed in Pearl Harbor at the time of the bombing in 1941.
One of the greatest bands ever they were heavy.I remember watching THE DOORS on Ed Sullivan I was taking a bath I was 10 years old my mom brought a small TV. in the bathroom so I could watch The Doors.
They are WAILING This is awesome. Doors have been my favorite for over 20 years now. Their inventory is remarkable for only being together for 54 months. 54 MONTHS ! Rip Jim and Ray God Bless Robbie and John
An absolute fantastic compilation! Minus Jim of course! But the lead singer really did a great job. Thankfully the other band members were there to add that FANTASTIC sound and music. . Such a shame Him was taken from us at such a young age. Jim would agree this was a fine Tribute to himself.
I was lucky enough to attend a Krieger/Manzarek concert a few years ago in Rome. I went there with a lot of skepticism, because I didn't think you could make Doors music with a replacement for Jim. It was one of the best concerts of my life. The singer who replaced him was a perfect copy of Morrison, in voice and look, and was kept in skilful twilight by the lights. The illusion was perfect. The two of them were unleashed, although Manzarek was already ill, it was wonderful. And it had its original red Farfisa. It was REALLY an unforgettable evening.
@@N-nannah It was a moving evening, they played all their classical repertoire, except The End: Manzarek told us he didn't want to play it out of luck. Then we understood why: he wanted to get rid of the idea of death, poor man ... A few days later, in the same location, I had the good fortune to attend the 50th Anniversary reunion of the Beach Boys, with Brian Wilson reuniting with the survivors of the band. It's hard to say which of the two concerts was the most memorable ... What a week...! 😉 (Sorry for my poor English, I'm Italian...)

hey guys 7 comments only?! this video is gold
long live the Doors
Jim Morrison and the doors were hands down the bounds of reality
I don't know about anyone else but that is some of the best and interesting poetry I've ever heard. Critics said he wasn't a great poet, fuck that!
Critics are frustrated artistes/writers etc...they were envious of Jim's talent as a poet.
@@sandrafisherhayes3219 those who can’t do judge
@@thecat2547 so true!
Fuck them. That’s why no one remembers their names.
I'm reading Robbie's book right now and I had to stop and look up this performance they all did a phenomenal job Eddie vedder's vocals for spot-on
Same! Right now.
i was lucky enough to see Ray and Robbie perform together in 2012 in Austria. The Doors were one of the first bands that introduced me to the magic of music and to actually witness these guys playing together was one of the best experiences of my life. Ray introduced the band members by calling them a „Love Machine“ while playing the keys to the intro of Touch me concluding the introduction by introducing himself to the audience saying „and i‘m Ray Manzarek and i am a Love Machine!“
one year later he passed away and i will be forever grateful to have witnessed these men playing together and unfolding their magic.
Jim Morrison would have been approximately 50 years of age had he been able to attend this introduction.
Perfect to have Eddie Vedder sing for the Doors! Excellent job!
Vedder the bedder!
Never was a Pearl Jam fan, I was a Nirvana Gu y. But even Kurt liked Eddie and he was perfect for the induction of one of my favorite and one of the greatest American bands of all time especially in the British invasion. God bless all these guys and thank you Eddie
Ray is absolutely loveing it
Well that was an absolute joy!!!!!
God bless Jim and big Ray. And big love to Robbie and John. What I’d have given to see the Doors play live. Wish I’d been around in that whole era.
Fantastic performance by Vedder and the doors! He captured the essence if Jim’s vocals.
This was a great chance to see these guys. Vedder was a great choice to front the band. Thrilling to hear to this.
damn this was really good ! i know eddie vedder couldn't show up to rehearsal so he messed up a bit but honestly his knowledge of "dead cats, dead rats" and the "bum bum bum bum" part on " light my fire" (which was probably learned by listening to absolutely live and live at the hollywood bowl) amazed me! he did a great job considering he didn't have much practise.
It took me 18 years to watch this. Thank you very much.
Ray Manzarek is insufficiently recognized for the genius he was,
Wow! Doors have always been in their own world! One of the greatest bands ever. They had the vibe of the 60's in their souls! Plus they play my favorite song ever! " Light My Fire " I believe was number one for at least 6 weeks!
I have never stopped listening to the doors it's such cool stuff loved them since then and just as much now
John Densmore was once asked who his choice to sing would be if the Doors ever did a reunion show like Pink Floyd Did for Live 8. Without hesitation he said Eddie Vedder. Sadly with the passing of Ray Manzarek, that will never happen!
Just have to find someone who could play just like him.
The Doors created a sound that is instantly recognizable and yet very few (perhaps The Stranglers?) have ever been able to replicate.
we miss you, ray 💔
very much :(
Jim Morrison and The Doors in my opinion is a scholar poet.
He is someone that represents the past present and future of what is magical about our world and universe!
Eddie Vedder did a great job, I don't think anybody else can sing those songs better than him after Jim Morrison!
The story tellers episode from VH1 back in the day. Find it

I heard Eddie Vetter singing the songs of the Doors and he is absolutely amazing! What a vocalist!
Scott Weiland was better than Vedder.
Insomniac ur opinion 🤷🏻♂️
Jim Morrison was way above his time may the legend live on
Eddie Vedder does one hell of a Jim Morrison! One of the hardest acts to follow in Rockin Role by the way....
Just found this on UA-cam and I can’t stop watching Eddie vedder did a A1 job with the doors
Ray when your resurrected you'll be a perfect human being, never sick, never grow old, your music will truly be eternal !!!
He was already perfectly himself and human,he is already eternal!
45 now... was about 16 when I seriously got into The Doors... amazing band who will see out the test of time.
When I was a kid in the 90s I saw the doors movie and it changed my life. Thank you Oliver stone for introducing my generation to this great band.
What a performance by Eddi Vedder and the Doors 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
That was a special moment in history
I think that the nineties were really like the sixties. In a musical sense especially. The Doors, MC5 made the first beam of the bridge that was finished in the nineties. I was born in 1992. in Croatia and I have only gratitude for The Doors who really helped me in my dark alleys of life. Bless to everyone reading this! The sixties and the ninties were an echo of Romanticism. From Shelley, Byron, Chateaubriand all the way to Morirson. We must continue the groove of that melody, continue to break, break on through the other side!
I couldn't have expressed my thoughts and feelings better if I tried! Thank You!
WOW! First time I'v watched this! The majority of the Doors playing 20 years later, with one great lead Spokesman! Nice job Eddie! Rock on Doors and Pearl Jam...
One of my top five favorite bands of the 60s and early 70s. Long live the doors.
Vedder just inducting literally everybody into the hall.
The Doors gave us the L.A sound after dark...
Love that 👏🏻👏🏻
That they did. And I love Devo, too!
Best comment ever
Morrison's father, George, was an Admiral in the Navy, and oversaw naval operations during the Gulf of Tonkin incident that led to the US war in Vietnam. According to his obituary, he was once the youngest Admiral in the nation's fleet. As a young man, he was also stationed in Pearl Harbor at the time of the bombing in 1941.
Anne looks so much like her brother it’s almost like he was literally there.
One of the greatest bands ever they were heavy.I remember watching THE DOORS on Ed Sullivan I was taking a bath I was 10 years old my mom brought a small TV. in the bathroom so I could watch The Doors.
Never seen this before! Never seen them playin together after Jim´s dead -- it´s a fantastic footage! I love the DOORS
So happy they were inducted to the Hall Of Fame. They were the sound of the 60s.
Eddie was in Disneyland of Rock!!! Great performance!!
They are WAILING
This is awesome. Doors have been my favorite for over 20 years now. Their inventory is remarkable for only being together for 54 months. 54 MONTHS !
Rip Jim and Ray
God Bless Robbie and John
This is great...Yes , is..not only was it but it is great . I just saw this for the 1st time. Eddie Vedder nailed his performance.
Eddie Vedder did it justice! Great job!!!
RIP Jim ❤🕊️RIP Ray 🕊️❤️gone but never forgotten. U guys will be missed forever ❤❤❤
AMAZING, awesome, breathtaking.
i love that eddie vedder says "We couldnt get much higher" thats so important haha
Baby want you bite my wire
Wow I wish I could've been there
@@N-nannah It was a moving evening, they played all their classical repertoire, except The End: Manzarek told us he didn't want to play it out of luck.
(Sorry for my poor English, I'm Italian...)
Grazie!
When Pearl jam was hot I always thought Eddie reminded me of Jim... And then I just found this video , so cool, love it !
Puxa vida!!... aí está a prova maior que Jim Morrison não é uma lenda urbana... vendo a sua irmã,vc sente a semelhança física! Incrível!!
Light my Fire is the most psychedelic commercial song ever made. Describes my entire teen years
Man, Ray was such a great speaker. That voice could captivate a room.
Amazing band so much great music in such a short time 4 years. Today their music does not sound dated.
I was 10 yrs old when this group the Doors came in 67. The summer of love. Lived on the OSU campus col Ohio. Transister radio light my fire changed my world . Classic. Influenced me in drums and percussion in my bands. I thank these guys. These guys changed music. They where the first in prog rock. Jazz fusion blues. What a sound . R.I.P JIM AND RAY.
You nailed it. Without The Doors…there would be no prog rock. Robby and Ray played with time signatures but John took them by the collar and said come with me. I think Eddie said it best…The End was ‘67? 🤯
Scott and Eddie both have amazing voices for doors songs just shows the talent they have RIP Scott
WOW! What a fantastic performance! Even without Jim the power was still there. Those songs are timeless!
Ray you are just as much a poet as Jim. Hell, Robby and John, too. Thanks for blowing my mind wide open. Peace & Love!
Omg- Eddie sounds so much like Jim!!
Vedder is probably the best person voicewise to stand in for Morrison.
I wonder how Vedder would sound these days singing The Doors music. I think with the years his voice got that bit deeper
man you lucky lot who got to hear and see remaining doors that night WOW im sure Jim Morrison was there in spirit with you his brothers💛💚❤top notch musicians no one can touch
Indeed there was one GOAT Jim Morrison but these 80s frontmen channeled him quite.I bet he was smiling down on this special day
Eddie did a great job
