Greetings from the Pacific Northwest. Your pantry is so neat and organized. It's wonderful to see young people embracing gardening, canning, storing food and celebrating one's accomplishments with all of us. My ONLY suggestion is to get a microphone so we can hear you as the volume was very low in this video. Blessings to you and your family.
Thank you! I have in the past when I didn’t have more of what I needed. I’ve also reused the lids that come with pickled things or salsa at the store. They worked great!
We always buy those big jugs of apple juice and they were on clearance for $3 at Walmart this week! Another lady and I split what was left and we each got 2. I reuse the bottles for so much storage. Also, gorgeous pantry. I'm dreaming of our future home and having a space like this!
We have the same shelving, but we put thin board on the shelves to allow more jars to fit without falling over. I would recommend you look into that. It would give you so much extra space. I love Mexican hot carrots too! My favorite!
I also have the same shelving and used wood laminate that was taken out of a house to replace with vinyl plank flooring. Two laminate planks cut to length of the shelves and snapped together works very well.
I love it, so esthetically pleasing!!!!! I would just stand in the doorway and stare at the fruits of my labor 😆 you're hubby did a great job on the counter. Put your green tomatoes in a brown bag with a banana 😉
I like that although you store mostly foods you grow yourself, you admit that you do BUY certain things. I like that you have small sections of both _bulk items & STORE BROUGHT ones!_ And I like how your not _tripping_ over having loads of LONG TERM food storage since you have a garden, obviously canning equipment, a sealer & access to a freeze dryer! (I'm assuming you have a stand alone freeze too?) You can save all that money to 'pay bills' and buy other items you can't make, i.e... toiletries, hygiene items, soap powder and any garden items you need. Beautifully cleaned pantry by the way, lol!
You just gave me an idea. I’m just learning canning and wondered where I’ll store my goods. The shelf in the utility room is too warm. Forgot about the shelves in my grow room (the extra bedroom). Plenty of space on these shelves and the right temperature since it’s under AC. Duhhhh! And I forgot to mention how beautiful is your pantry
Really nice pantry. You guys did a good job. Totally jealous as I live in an apartment and don’t even have a small pantry. It’s funny in the last few years I think I want to move out to cities and live in the countryside. But I’ve lived in cities all of my life. The only little bit I know about country life is going to my grandparents. Now my grandmother had the best pantry set up and kitchen I’ve ever seen in my life. Both my grandparents are into doing all their own food. My grandmother had two kitchens. Her main kitchen had two stoves. One was a large natural gas range, and she also had an electric glass stove top. In the second kitchen, which he called, the prep kitchen, had huge large sinks in it, an old wood burning range, and two smokers, along with a charcuterie cabinet, huge butcher block table and large oak countertops, and tables. The prep kitchen had a bunch of doors one went into a 10‘ x 10‘ room, which my grandmother called her scullery. That’s where she would keep all of her canning and copper pots for jam, making and that kind of stuff. Then she had another room a little bit bigger, which was her pantry where she stored nothing but food there was a door that led into the main kitchen and another door that lead out on to, the side Garden and patio. Our favourite door mind you was the door in the floor, which led down into the root cellar. The root cellars, are all made out of natural stone granite. The first root cellar was a complete dry cool root cellar. The second root cellar was a dump root cellar. My grandfather set up a water feature, so it would keep moisture in the air. Used to love playing down there when we were kids and helping ourselves to some of the fruit that was stored down there. About 12 years ago my grandparents put an extension onto the side of the house and built a large walk-in fridge and walk-in freezer. When it comes to the end of days, I just have to try and make it to my grandparents where I could survive comfortably lol.
I love that you turned a not usable space into something so incredibly usable! What a beautiful pantry room you have. Just an interesting fact that I thought was interesting is that in the state I live in you cannot use a room that does not have two exits as a bedroom it is illegal. You must have a door and a window or it cannot be used to sleep in so way to go on creating something amazing!
wow this video took OFF! its so nice in your pantry. I know you will continue to fill it up as the years go by! edit yes on the apple juice jugs! love it all
Santa Cruz is my favorite brand of juice. Their apple juice is so good, and I also like to keep the bottle as a bonus. I use them to make lemonade, fire cider, etc. I keep the small juice bottles also.
you lucky bugger on the size of your pantry!! i'd take a few bungies and strap them to the sides of those selves though to make sure nothing falls off them, make the bungie into a stopper, so if something rattles around for one reason or another, nothing comes crashing down. also those shelves anchored to the wall? ....canning jars...as long as they are kept cool and in a dark place, they can last YEARS!!! and you can look this up, there was a sunk ship that they pulled canned jars out of the water 100 years after the ship sank, waited a few more years before opening the jars, tested them! and they were proven to still be able to eat. Lab tested, meaning they went through "ok does it have e.coli or any other food born bacteria in it." Nope, it is safe to eat. even 100 years later. now, does that mean it looked good to eat? maybe not. but still can eat it.
@@bakerhillfarm agreed. It was particularly acidic and not a strong/worthwhile flavour. I think I have 1 more jar to muscle through... might just add it to a chili so it disappears lol
@@bakerhillfarm that's so true, though I live in an apt so it's not always possible to grow many foods inside or out. So If anyone has ideas, please share ty

If you’re storing onions in the same room, move them. Onions make potatoes sprout
We don’t store onions here 🙂
Wow. No wonder! Thanks for the tip!!
Oh my gosh I am so jealous! My house is crammed full, every nook and cranny has food shoved in it.That is a pantry to die for.. Lucky you!
That’s awesome to hear you’ve stored food as many places as you can!
I reuse my lids if they’re in good condition. They always work and usually can be reused 2 times after the first processing. Love the pantry. ❤

@@bakerhillfarm yes me too! We buy peanut butter in glass jars and I can in them all the time. Never had any issues

Got them this week too! They were $4 here. What a deal!
And thank you! 🙂

Wow I am in awe of how big your pantry is! Great job on the harvest and preservation this season!

The built in shelving 👍👍👍❤ beautiful bounty!!
Thank you! My husband did such a good job.
Truly inspiring, thank you for sharing. We thoroughly enjoyed it!

A bedroom with no windows makes a good supply closet!
Your pantry is “Awesome “

Oh my goodness that sounds wondrous! What a dream set up! I think that’s amazing. Such cool memories for you as well!
Blackberry jam is great on vanilla ice cream.
I had a lot of green tomatoes this year and canned green tomato relish.
I like the work table!😊
Thank you!

I think that’s a good law. It could be pretty dangerous.
New sub here! Loved the tour, thanks for sharing! Love love love your pantry!
Thanks so much!
Very nice use of your spare room.

Those small ones are too cute! I like to let my kids use those when they want to be fancy.
You could make green enchilada sauce with the green tomatoes. To me tastes better than using tomatillos.
Thanks for the idea!
Try the salsa verde in enchiladas. You might like it that way. Love your party!
Thank you!
I love my salsa Verde in chicken enchiladas or on tacos.
I LOVE salsa verde. I have used this in enchiladas, but I think the recipe I followed for this batch is just not a good one.
Awesome video
Thank you!
Beautiful.😍😊
Thank you!
Do you have a video to show you making the homemade vanilla with borbon?
I have a video or short where I use vodka. The process is the same.
Its just me and I can hardly eat the fruits and veggies before they spoil, so I've been cooking and freezing some of it ar times

Was your salsa verde made from green tomatoes or tomatillos? I made a green tomato one that we also didn't enjoy at all.
Green tomatoes! It seemed to lack flavor.
@@bakerhillfarm agreed. It was particularly acidic and not a strong/worthwhile flavour. I think I have 1 more jar to muscle through... might just add it to a chili so it disappears lol
The sound keeps fading out but the content is very good.
I thought the room have to be a certain temperature for canning goods
Just not too cold to where the products freeze. I just store room temp, like you would in a cupboard.
Great pantry tour! Where you you guys based out of?
Louisiana
How long does it take you to go through the raw veggies before they start to spoil?
Depends in what it is. The winter squash and sweet potatoes will last months. What is at the store is already months old.

What happens if you have earthquake all those jars will fall
We’ve never had an earthquake here, but if so- they’d probably fall and shatter.
Where are you located at what state are you I. I'm I. Va
Louisiana
Everyone shows how they preserve food but no one shows how they cook with them.
Acre Homestead does
I have several recipe videos 🙂
Hard to hear
Sorry about that.
Hard to hear you talk really soft
Sorry about that! Worked on the volume for my most recent video.
Sorry, I since can't hear you so I can't watch your video.
