I'm a 16 year old girl and i watch ALL of your videos for absolutely no reason at all. i just enjoy them. and i have no idea why. just felt the need to confess that.
I was in 4th grade when my mother who was 40 yrs and dad 57 yrs at my birth decided to homestead. My dad retire from a local pencil factory. Our 1st gardens tomato patches look just like the ones here, lol. Ous neighbors would drive by day, evening, night up to the patch and pull em off a few. Thanks for that beautiful memory. He has been gone since 1991 and her 2001, sad it seems like yesterday but the education I received is God given. Blessings to you all!
I'm a social/cultural anthropology student in Denmark and I don't even live in the US but I think it's so interesting learning a bit about people's grocery and food habits in different places. I'm fortunate to live close to many grocery stores but I love the idea of farms where you harvest your own produce - and that Amish store looked really good!
Ken and Shelby picked a peck of peppers and a whole trailer of tomatoes! WOW! You two just are never still! Great way to keep your love and yourself young and alive! Girl the Amish store was just amazing! I’ve never seen anything quite like it! I didn’t even know what some of the spices were! But with your wealth of cooking knowledge has use for them all! The meat was beautiful! I’ll take mine medium! You need to give Ken a great big hug and kiss for the flower beds! You are both champs! 💛🌻
Oh Shelby ... I am so glad the Amish store was so nice. I was raised Mennonite and our sugar, flour (100 pound bags) lunch meats, cheeses, jello, canning needs and spices we bought at the Amish market. Dad painted the dairy farmers barns and house in exchange for a gallon of milk and a pound of butter everyday delivered to our door and 1/2 a cow when they butchered. Dad also painted the pig farmers house and barns for 2 pigs at butchering time. We had a 2 acre garden we called the truck patch and then a table garden of everything we ate that Summer. We had 100 chickens and raised rabbits for food. Dad would pheasant hunt and go frog leggin ... We had apple trees, concord grapes and pear, trees and 100 strawberry plant bed. I loved my childhood and raised my boy that way till I couldn't can ect anymore. I have MS. I love your video's
I’m so excited to wake up on this Wednesday morning in New Zealand to see another video from you, I’m saving to watch this till bedtime tonight, your a absolutely joy to watch and my favourite, have a great day 🙋♀️
My first time watching any of your videos. What lovely scenery on your drive to the Amish Store. $10 for a bushel of peppers and $16 for each bushel of tomatoes? Oh, my word. No farms like that around here, I'm afraid. Your property is gorgeous and your kitchen island is to die for! I look forward to watching more of your videos. I would love to see you process the tomatoes and peppers.
Awesome haul! We have 3 Amish/mennonite stores just over our state line. We make a trip about every 2 or 3 months. It’s amazing what you find and at such great prices. I love canning tomatoes, I don’t do it anymore but one trip I found gallon cans of diced tomatoes for .99! I bought 5 gallons. When I open one, I use what I need then put the rest in containers in the freezer for later use. Would love to see you can all those tomatoes!
Awesome haul. We don't have any Amish stores here in Mississippi. One thing I've noticed and don't be angry with me because I am concerned for your health. Your hands looked like you are retaining fluid. Be careful with that. I had problems with fluid retention and had to be careful what I ate etc. I would hate for you to have problems because you are such a nice person. Please take care of you. God bless you.
Hey Queens my name is Carmela and im a country girl but i live in the city now and i just subscribed to your channel and im just loving to see yall go to farms and Amish stores and how you and your husband work together!! Its taking me back to my roots keep up tje good work im enjoying myself, i just started and i think i have watched like 4 videos straight!😃
My husband and l go to the Amish store in Pennsylvania every November and we have such a great time, they have fantastic buys.l even have bought furniture from them that is made so well,it will last for ever.Great video. This is my 2nd one watching you and l look forward to seeing more.
Amish Market, this was my dream business adventure. (we are Conservative Plain Quakers) BUT just before we were ready to dive in, I suddenly became disabled and my whole world changed. But there is nothing more dear to my heart than this. Thank you for the shopping haul....a bakers/cook/chef/homesteader's delight! Thanks for all the sharing. It does a body good.
I am surrounded by the Amish where I live. I shop their products all the time. Being dairy farmers, when I was growing up we had them as neighbors, helping each other. I get most of my produce and all of my spices and baking goods from our stores here. You should check out their furniture stores. Their craftsmanship is outstanding. Try out their Belgium Cream filling for pastries. All of their pasta choices. Their homemade noodles stand the test of an all day warming of chicken noodle soup on the stove. Their meat is tops. Try the Buffalo. They also have some nice devotionals. There are some places that have cut ware. Their knives are nice. Try the tomato slicer knife. Brilliant. My grandson's love when I take them because they get a little pie to eat. The taffey is good too. When certain fruits and veggies start coming in on season the prices are fantastic and quantity is great. It helps to supplement your canning from your home garden. Love the Mennonite and Amish stores. Many of their containers are freezer safe.
Seriously??? Where do you people find all this energy? That Amish store is AWESOME. I would die the sweetest of deaths in there. Thanks for taking us along! I enjoy every one of your videos. Kinda new so I have some catching up to do. One of my new favorites ❤️🤩
I have watch older videos and I was blown away to hear you say you have a 10 person family! I never realized you had other children except the boys that are renovating the property with Kenny.
I would have lost my mind as well.I love that store.keep the containers because they are reusable and very well strong and holds their shape, use them over and over again. You racked up sweetheart
I admire your organization skills and your cooking abuility. Your a loving caring woman for your family. I wish you and your husband good health and strenghth to continue to independantly take care of your family and home.
The Amish markets are my kryptonite. Everything you can think of spice and produce wise. Our local Amish market has a deli and bakery but it's not as cheap as y'alls market prices. I can walk around those stores for hours. That was a very beautiful farm. Lots of yummy produce. It reminds me of my pawpaws farm he had 8-10 gardens planted every year not including his kitchen garden. He'd feed the half the community. The things he didn't grow other farmers did and they would trade. I miss those simpler times
If a date asks me what do I watch, how do I explain I watch a woman go food shopping, a day in the life, and her hauls? I'm sure cooking videos, tv shows, and even reading sounds more normal. I love your videos. Keep them up the best you can.
Woww they Amish shop ❤️ love all your videos and your sweet hardworking husband hugs frm Sacramento 😊🙏 love@picking your own veggie so beautiful good job 👍
What a wonderful video, I like your calm manner of speaking, that Amish store was incredible, what great spices and prices, I use Hungarian paprika for most of my cooking, it has such a lovely flavour, and Spanish paprika for garnishing as I find it more spicy!
Love your videos. You're going to be one busy woman canning all those tomatoes and peppers. You'll sure enjoy them this winter when you're making soups and stews with them.
What a beautiful drive to the Amish market and tomato farm. Would be worth a revisit in the fall. Great market and prices. I would gave gone " a little crazy also". Hope you have a productive canning day.
Wow, what a wonderful market. I like purchasing their cheeses and breads too. I thought about cooking us some fried pies tonight for supper. Thanks for taking us along.
What a great day! No wonder you were exhausted by the end! Thanks for sharing! ~ We are headed to our local Amish store tomorrow, I'm so excited! Its very similar to the one you went to! Spices here I come!!
My husband and I just got home from Amish Country (Holmes County, Ohio) and I stocked up, too. I am set for fall and winter holiday baking/cooking. I try not to buy too much or I can’t justify needing to go back for a while 😉 I got fry pies to bring home to the kids and lemon pie filling for my aspiring baker (14yo) daughter. One of my sons goes cuckoo for those pastel mints with the nonpareil‘s on them so I got some for his stocking. While we are there my husband eats his weight in pickled eggs. And he sings to me from Beauty and the Best. When I was a boy I ate 5 dozen eggs...🎶 😂 I need to learn how to make them.
That amish store was totally awesome! I'd love to seen your canning of the tomatoes and that steak marinade. Thank you for sharing your day with us! Love your videos!!
Oh my gosht that Amish store is amazing! You are so lucky to have a place like that to shop. Nothing even close to that where I live. I would go nuts in there too Shelby.
I am having land envy, kitchen envy, shopping opportunities (like an Amish store) envy .........I just loved watching your day and am going to definitely be a new subscriber. You have a sweet hubby, a gorgeous home and I really hope to see more video's! Thanks for sharing your experiences!
I live about 3 hours from the Pennsylvania Amish Country and I really enjoy going just for a weekend and enjoying their food and desserts! They are very talented in cooking! And I have glanced at their furniture which also looks amazing. I like going straight to the Amish store to get things instead of buying them at a regular grocery store, quality and service is unmatched
I've just discovered you from the recent 2020 groceries video. Binge-watching and now subscribed. I enjoy your style of relating the information so much. Thanks.
Wow Shelby and Ken, looks like the Amish market is a dream come true, I would be in there all day, lol. The tomatoes and peppers look fantastic, you will defiantly enjoy them this winter. Get some rest.
A quick way to defrost meat is to turn your oven on low & place a metal cookie sheet by the vent where hot air comes out. Place your meat, meat side down on the cookie sheet & in no time the warmth from the oven air will defrost anything from frozen. Thanks for sharing your hauls.
Wow!! Your grocery prices were really cheap. I also shop some similar items, of course not where you are, on regular basis hence able to make quick notes inside my head for comparison. Thanks for sharing your shopping ideas. 🙂👍🛒
Okay, I'm new to your channel so I know this video is 2 years old but I visit Marilla Country store just to buy their Amish food. I don't even cringe when I'm given the total. It's so amazing to buy their spices and especially their pasta that is cholesterol free. My heart pitter patters when I go shopping there.
My Sunday School Class makes ‘fried apple pies’ to sell at monthly breakfasts. They dry the apples in the fall and sell the pies near the holidays which gives a scholarship for high school seniors going off to college!
New subbie here this video is so interesting it looked like a lot of fun! I am binging on all your other videos I get such motivation from you! Your home is lovely thanks for sharing!
Oh.my.god-Shelby !! I would be just like you going to that store .i can imagine how excited I’d be,I can understand you... Love watching your videos.i hope you are good over the pond.. 🥰🙏🏻 P.s-we r lucky.neighbour has a overgrown bay tree here, and simply pick what we need(of course,we do get on very very well,so it’s all good) xx
I think with those tubs of spices I would peel off the labels, trim it down and stick the name part of the label to the side of the tubs so they can be stacked up and you can still read the labels.....absolutely amazing prices....I’m in Australia and honestly some things you show in your hauls we pay about four to five times the price, it’s crazy ! I know wages in Australia are higher but I don’t think they are that much higher but I may be wrong...in one of your hauls you showed some roasts at under $2 a pound....most red meat here is over $25.00 kg ( about $12 pound ?) and that’s not the quality stuff..even basic cheap minced beef is $10 kg here ( about $4.50 pound ?) love watching your channel...wish I had the space to have a really good pantry !! Thanks you
Shelby that chickweed salve is good to have for your hens if they ever have an open wound or get pecked. We have a local amish store very similar. They will order supplies that we suggest which I also love.
Hi Shelby! Love your videos, even watching for quite a while now. I would be so interested to see how you store your foods, both in the freezer and in the fridge. Or a fridge your would be awesome!! 💞
Awesome video- I hope you vlogged the canning of the tomatoes. I would love to see that. Love your videos! What an awesome score at the Amish store. I would have done the same thing with the spices!!
Ugh... that store is 3 hrs away for me, but thanks for sharing your day, I would have been ecstatic! Show us how you make your tabouli when you make it. Thank you and glad to see a vid from you. ❤😁
Linda Mangold Booth All in all the three hour trip would be well worth it say once a year. Stock up and freeze the spices. The store carries so much and in any size bag you want. You can even freeze flour. Try it out and see how much it saves you in the long run.

YOU ARE LEARNING FROM THE BEST AT A YOUNG AGE,,,YOU WILL BE SO ORGANIZED AND PREPARED FOR LIFES SITUATIONS, 👍🏻
Yes, she is awesome!
If I lived near an Amish shop, I wouldn’t shop anywhere else. Such great prices and healthy food . And the variety is amazing.

So much fun! Wish Ole Kountry Store had a website to order spices online. What a great place. Picking tomatoes brings back great memories.
“I’m gonna go crazy..”
*whole trolley full of spices*
“Ok so I went a little crazy”
😂😂😂😂
I think the lady showed great restraint not going overboard .
😂😂👍🏼
It's such a blessing that you and your husband is retired and get to go and do such interesting shopping hauls together

Ugh... that store is 3 hrs away for me, but thanks for sharing your day, I would have been ecstatic!
