Are Inktense Pencils the Same as Watercolor Pencils?

Water soluble pencils are a lot of fun to use. You can sketch a lot of cool things with them, like a butterfly. In this video I'm going to compare Derwent Inktense pencils with Derwent watercolor pencils while sketching a Blue Morpho butterfly that I found at a Butterfly Biosphere.

I bought a set of 24 Inktense when they first came out they were hexagonal shape, the later pencils are round, the inktense paints are great like using them both.

Thanks Susan! I was actually just wondering what the right balance between real-time and sped-up is. Making these videos has been fun and like my art, I'm still learning about what "works" and doesn't "work". It makes me happy to know they are somewhat helpful though!

I am with Susan, since your process and artwork are interesting, no problem to watch 40 or 50 minutes videos. Recently I started watching Russian speaking art videos, and they are brutally great and really relaxed people 30 minutes are the minimum. 😀

This was an interesting video. I now have both types of pencils having purchased the large set of inktense pencils recently. I will use both as needed together without fear now. I have been using the inktense pencils mostly for base washes for pastel paintings which is absolutely lovely!

Zsófia Gyükér one of the best artist in my area uses Derwent Watercolor pencils dry. I visited two weekend workshops of her, and her technique and method is fantastic.

The Intense Watercolor is easy to use and gets great results, I m getting a larger set.

I just brought home a set of Inktense Water color pencils and I already have a large set of Inktense blocks. Need pointers on both.

Im confused🤪 when you began you said you were using inktense on the right but later in the video said the intense was on the left😂 i guess that means both types of pencils did a good job. Thank you for doing the tutorial!
