15:09 I would also add that it's harder for you to get bonus damage from burn as dark elementalist. As you level up your burn eventually gives you bonus to damage. As simple kineticist you just use a bunch of wild talents and you have the Desired amount of burn. As Dark Elem you need to actually Soul Power it. So the main Pro of it is that you may not even need any burn to do that extra damage as DE but the Con is that you need to set it up after every rest.
On the topic of Kinetic Knights, Weapon Finese works for Kinetic Blades. The damage youre getting is from levels + other features so Finese Training is pointless. Also if you pick energy as your element, kinetic Blade does melee Touch attack.
Also, if you're making Kineticist for unfair as your main character - you need to max your DEX. It's the most important stat for you. You can raise CON by items, but since you have 3/4 attack progression you need to be able to hit things so DEX all the way on all level ups.

The two big differences between the regular Kineticist and the Psychokineticist is that, yes the Psycho uses wisdom instead of constitution, which makes him synergize nicely with the regular monk for that AC bonus. The second is that he doesn't burn HP but instead decreases his will save (which is already crap to begin with, so no great loss there) with every point of burn.
All that is very nice actually but the regular Kineticist can basically do the same thing if you sacrifice all STR, WIS and most INT to raise your CHA to at least 16 or preferably 18 with Musetouched Aasimar, then put one level into Monk (Scaled Fist) to add your CHA modifier to your AC and also pick up Crane Style which can later on really stack those AC. And let's be honest - it's your main. Unless you wanna fail a lot of persuasion checks you'll want high CHA anyway. If you pick Earth first it's still somewhat too weak early on to play comfortably on Unfair but very strong in the mid- and late game. It's relatively melee-heavy though. Going either Water or Fire first is stronger in the early game but you burn wild talents just to get ranged talents, you'll get Bowling and Trip a lot later and you'll be hard pressed to fit all the talents you want for your 2nd and 3rd element picks. Going Earth > Fire > Water and kinetic blade + 1 lvl monk with crane style makes for a relatively slow start but you'll ultimately end up with an absolute beast of a tank with good AC, nice DR, lots of single target and AoE Damage as well as decent control capabilities. In fights where you'll be able to start the engagement on your terms most enemies won't even reach your party. They'll be constantly getting trip-locked.
For a pure Unfair build the regular Kineticist works just as fine if you go Water > Earth > Fire, although you'll run into trouble getting all the fire infusions you want later on. However, water has very high single target damage capacity as well as healing and if you go for ranged with early Bull Rush and Pushing infusion, as well as one level in Thug at 3rd level for 2d6 of sneak rolls you'll get a poor man's version of trip just as early as you would with Earth with the same ability of provoking attacks of opportunity for your melee minions but with greater damage at the cost of AC and DR. However, once you get Deadly Earth at lvl 14 the combination of a pushing water wall and a tripping Deadly Earth becomes VERY hard for the AI to overcome and once you get Fire Cloud as well to put on top of that control nightmare you'll only ever need your party in fights the AI starts and even then, they'll only need to hold the line for a round until you can set up a nice wall to push the AI off into the Deadly Earth you set up the round after that while your party dispatches any isolated enemies that you missed with your wall. Very powerful but if you somehow get focused down by ranged enemies you'll die very quickly due to the lack of AC but since you'll never get a good AC anyway this built doesn't rely heavily on any specific gear while the first one needs monk robes and lots of AC gear in addition to stat gear in order to get the most out of it.
If you ask me, Dark Elementalist and Psychokineticist are just not worth it in comparison. Dark Elementalist can have trouble racking up burn points when you need them and the Psychokineticist is either sacrificing a key Unfair stat or Charisma or both in order to get the same thing done you can already do with the regular Kineticist can.
Kinetic Knight is interesting and can be very a very strong melee class with both high AC and damage but the regular Kineticist, again, can do pretty much the same while being more flexible.

Really good job man. Kineticist has sooo much stuff for such a simple play style. Kinetic Knight is great for a 1 level dip because of Kinetic Warrior, which allows Con to replace Intelligence when qualifying for feats & is perfect for Fighters who've dumped their Int stat. One thing I noticed is that towards the end of the mid game you get WAY more Wild Talents than you actually need. These are basically feats and can be used to take things like Deflect Arrows, Great Fortitude, Iron Will, skill specialization, or even to get a familiar.

Kinetic Knight can still attack touch AC if you pick the elemental blast. It is a good mutliclass option for Valerie to use her Con, if you pick fire, and go Dazzling infusion (i think that is the name),

I watch many of your guides, because it is really interesting to hear what experiences you made with the class and which options, especially selections like talents and in this case elements and wild talents you recommend. Unfortunately, this video was 80% redundant with just reading the tooltips.
I did like the info that elemental blasts target touch AC.

Kineticist is the closest PF has to DnD's Warlock. You just don't have to buff cha so much, you can drop everything into con/dex.

There is more nuance then just you hit touch or amour AC... Physical blast is a RANGED ATTACK. Energy blast is a RANGED TOUCH ATTACK. That means physical blast literally profits from physical feats (as a good example. When using Rapid Shooting you fire an additional beam with physical damage, doubling your damage), it gets multiple hits with higher BAB and you can adjust it with stuff like Deadly aim for example. That is why the base damage of the hit is lower and the to hit is lower against fighters (Monsters and other classes dont usually wear armour).

you're missing something here. they aren't just ranged touch attacks. they are ranged unarmed attacks. think of it as if you could throw energy fists. I'm sure there is some anime character that does that, probably in Dragonball.
now why do I say the addition is important. because every single thing, magical or equipment or ability or skill, that boosts unarmed attack will boost your blast attacks as well.
any piece of equipment that says it boosts "unarmed", that does not specify melee, will boost your blast attacks.
it gets insane with the right equipment.

You are freaking awesome. Pathfinder is so much like Baldur's Gate in a lot of ways except better in almost every way. Not even besides the fact, the rules Pathfinder Kingmaker uses is more like 3.8 which is already better than like almost every edition of D&D.

I like getting my shit pushed in and still win. However sometimes i just get pissed at RNG making perfect builds get wrecked anyway (stream of critical misses). I do want to do an Unfair victory, but it takes SO MUCH planning and research. Not to mention the smell of cheese in the room, so much cheese needed. Sony should add an option to display your rarest trophies or something to get more than just bragging rights.

Which monsters are immune to elemental attacks? How do golems (thinking beneath the stolen lands DLC) fare against fire + fire Kineticist that targets touch AC?

Toggle "Inspect" in the lower left toolbar on. Then you can inspect monsters, creatures and others and learn their stats, abilities and immunities. You often won't get all the info in your first encounter because you role dice to make a perception check, but after you fight them several times you will have access to every bit of information available.

hey, latecomer here, watching our guides helped me kinda understand how classes work on unfair (yay, finally a hard game). After some testing I wanna start a full play-trough (turn based mod, can't play pathfinder without it) and have a hard time deciding on main: arcane trickster sorcerer or kineticist. Sorcerer, by all means, seems stronger and more varied, but pathfinder is my most played pnp game and I already played it man times (haven't seen a lvl 20 character though, or over 10 really) whereas kineticist is new. Yet, I am afraid it will get boring over time, and I am pigeonholed into a single playstyle (I know, respec is always an option, but still, respeccing is usually not economic as you need a new set of gear). What are your thoughts? Not playing sorcerer for a spellcaster-ish main will ultimately lead to respeccing into one? Greetings from Sweden as well :)

@Vale Sauce no game is too difficult once you understand the system, that said, I avoid unfair. Most classes can be made work. I played through hard with a kineticist, which was borderline cheating past midgame, and then I started a more "rp" playthrough with a sorcerer which I'll finish once I will have time. Its always the matter of how much effort you put into understanding the game and into your characters.

I like your videos, but from everything I've gathered I don't know why anyone would ever play on unfair difficulty. why would you want to invalidate 90% of the builds in the game and be forced into playing ranged classes with animal companions and nothing else? The best part about games like this is experimenting with different character builds. if you just want a pure challenge play something like dark souls. To anyone looking to start the game just put it on challenging or hard difficulty and the game will be plenty difficult, but it won't punish you for experimenting with different builds and character classes.

Sadly there is something you are missing if you are not playing on Unfair Difficulty: A Steam Achievement for completing the game using it.
A lot of people are obsessed with those, especially now that you can put them on Profile display.
I personally think games should be designed with a single difficulty in mind with no options (like the mentioned Dark Souls), but that's a different matter.

    • @Draffut2003

@Vale Sauce Some people are just completion and like getting every achievement in the games they play. There is no self esteem issue at play.
"my gaming experience should be one I enjoy."
It is something they enjoy. No reason to be a dick about what other people enjoy doing with their free time because it's different to you. Grow the fuck up.
