Psychokineticist - burns do not decrease HP and damage based on wisdom. But burns amount is based on constitution so character requires 3 stats to maximize.
Dark elementalist - can remove burns a few times per day by using fresh corpses. Damage is based on int so character requires 3 stats to maximize.
Elemental knight - can use only kinetic blade and has no range attacks, can use medium and heavy armor. Knight can be a tank, melee damage dealer, support character, can spend 1 or 2 levels to get another class like rouge.
Energy blasts do less damage but significantly more accurate. All composite blasts have accuracy of physical blast except blue flame (fire+fire). Composite blast inherit all infusions of both elements. For example deadly earth can be used from earth blast and lava blast but lava version does more damage, can use fire DOT and requires more burns.
Kinetic sword can hit more then once per round if gathering power abilities are disabled.
Robe of fire does not increase damage of fire blast but affects resistance to fire DOT if it was used with fire blast.
I used to just avoid kinecist all together because they felt really complicated but after watching your guide I can say this is my favorite class to this day because I'm hitting like a mack truck lol
thank you for this guide. I like the way you go through the different elements and give an overview of what the main advantages of each one is. This class was very hard for me to figure out but after watching your video I feel confident enough to try it. I just subscribed and hope your other videos are just as informative.
I usually play a fighter type character to tank. My most recent playthrough I decided to do something different and play a class I never would have before. People recommended a Kineticist and it is what I picked. To be honest I did not know what I doing and could not figure out why i kept getting beat. Now I realize what i was doing wrong, how I was nerfing myself with choices at the beginning, and just how much fun it is play a Kinetic. Thank you for that.
If you want to play a great tank thats not a fighter, try the vivisectionist subclass of alchemist! Got my AC to 40+ at level 13!

Hello. I thought your Character Class review was very thoughtful, thorough and helpful. Instead of just bringing up the character class panel and dumping the first thing that comes to your mind out of your mouth, you took the time to explain the class, its strengths and so on. I appreciated the examples of some of its powers/spells, the charts you made to explain its different elements and so on. A+ You put all those other dudes to shame.
Very well done! I do level dips with the subclasses. Dark Elementalist dips nicely into rouge for skillpoints & sneak attack. Monk gives great AC to Psycokineticist. And a dip into Kinetic knight gives low Int characters a shot at combat expertise feats. Fire is my favorite element as shatter defenses negates CMD, making trip & push infusions godlike.

Good write up. I really need to play a Kineticist main sometime. I can't be bothered to micromanage Burn on a NPC. And yet still I find Kaessi useful.
It's also interesting how Owlcat implemented this class better than it works in PnP. On a table, I wouldn't touch this class with a pole and I'd facepalm if someone else took it. But here, it's fun even if you never fire a composite blast.
And just to confirm, yes Kineticist Blade is buffed by Amulets of Agile Fist. It still counts as a Natural Attack. So just like Wild Shaped druids, they get the benefit.
so a build of kine and monk would be good?

Really enjoy the channel and appreciate the breakdown. Long time DnD and Pathfinder Player but never delved into the Kineticist and have had a hard time wrapping my head around it. On a side note, I have been looking for a good Two Weapon Fighting Build that isn't using knives or kukris. If you have any suggestions would enjoy hearing them.

Whats a good multi-class option for a kineticist? i dont feel like having two characters with the same class. ( I already have two clerics and two rangers)
Since i gave Kanerah the "Trip" feat, but it felt so useless, i was thining a monk mix.
Slick is a nice skill to have in the early game functioning like Grease, making me feel less compelled to take sorcerer every game. Kineticist also has the benefit of actually doing ok damage unlike sorcerer who is starved for spell slot early game.

Hey, great guide! Trying out this build myself and loving it so far. One question tho, i figured STR was my dump-stat so i went negative with it (-2) does this affect my BAB in any way?

when i do the bull rush push with water, do i need to activate the bull rush maneuver? cause every time i try to it cancels my water kinetic blast ability. so how do you sync improve bull rush with the push infusion in game?
you do not need to activate bulll rush, only activate push and it will work.

I would have liked to see more info on the kinetic blade and how it works with kinetic knight like what feats to take with it and stuff like that
I think with the knight, you do not get burn for using the blade and you do not have to charge up for. So it will be like a nornal melee weapon. When select you element you choose to do energy for touch ac or choose non energy. I am not sure if you can change that later. It scale 1d6 every 2 levels. So at level 3 it deals 2d6 plus con bonuses.
Also i think the elementale blade hits the touch ac and the physical hits normal ac
Kinetic knight can have very powerful blade but hit only once per round or you can disable gathering of power and hit multiple times (number of hits based on Base Attack Modifier and depends on level of character, also haste spell adds one attack per round). In first case you can use composite blade with multiple buffs but in the second case you have to use simple blade. Gathering power abilities require free second hand but if you don't use them you can equip shield or second weapon. Second weapon decreases accuracy of main weapon so energy blade is better because it has more accuracy. You can take 1 lvl of thug and get for free ability for simple weapons "Weapon Finesse" (kinetic blade is a simple weapon). Also you do extra-damage when multiple characters attack the same target (Sneak Attack) and you have access to the Perfect Sneak Attack.
It basically acts as a natural melee attack with a blade animation. No different in effect than a wild-shaped druid or a pet's attack. Except that it uses your element to bypass DR.
The Kinetic Blade can be outright broken, if you make right use of it but you most likely need to be Kinetic Knight to do so.
Max out Dex and Con and chose Weapon Finess for Kinetic Blast (which will also count towards Kinetic Blade, which is considered a light weapon, therefor adding your Dex)
I slept on this quite a bit but tried it at the Varnholds Lot DLC and my Kinetic Knight Aasimar dished out non critical hits with around 30 dmg per hit, while my MAd Dog 2h Barb only was around 25 per hit
I know this is an old video, but do you have any suggestions for someone that wants to focus on Earth and Fire elements instead of starting with Water?
Its been over a year since i played kineticist so i might remember some things incorrectly but....
Fire has alot of usefull utility wild talents, and will help you deal more damage early on because it targets touch AC. Your MC will probly have persuasion so going dazzling display/deadly carnage will be powerfull. Then you can get shattered defenses on your melee fighters and they will tear through the entire encounter whenever you leave enemies shaken.
If you instead start with earth, trip infusion + kinetic blade is the way to go. You can also stack DR early making you very tanky. Then later on Deadly earth + trip infusion is the most broken thing in this game.

just curious as to how you would build a fire/earth/air mixed kineticist or a double fire earth one.
get dreadful carnage as soon as possible. grab dazzling display for your wild talent at 2 then dreadful carnage at level 4. then dip 1 level into thug. i personally would go fire/fire at 8 to get a composite blast that targets touch AC. At this point you should be able to 1 shot alot of weaker enemies that usually stay in the back lines, and procing dreadful carnage off of them. for infusions eruption, flash, foxfire, unraveling are all very strong and usefull. be sure to grab fire's fury wild talent. you are going to be lacking some defense so make sure to get a nice set of armor on this character, might even want to grab medium armor training as a talent. past this its hard to say without actually having used the fire element personally but i know that fear is very strong and will make a lot of encounters easier to manage.

@@Twilight5007 oh yea it totally can, the kinetic blasts hit like a truck and everything else is really just flavor added on top. Some elements are better then others obviously but they are all strong IMO and have something usfull about them.
Hi I'm just picked up this game and I know this is a while later but I was wondering how this buuld works out for turn based mode? I play on console and fell in love with the way this class looks but I mostly play turn based.

How does your character gain burn? I put a couple of levels into kineticist but my character still has 0 burn
Certain blast infusions or wild talents cause burn. Basic blasts won't though

I'm very early level so I can't do any of this stuff and combat is shit since all I have is a crappy fireball I can throw that misses 80% of the time
how this is guide when it's never shown what he does, only shows animation, never explained what he does, instead talks about trivia that is written everywhere. I swear, everyone decided they can make a video guide to anything (even for C++ programming), but's actually way harder to do right than to write one.

dude. take your time. if you are going to set up a combo like a force wall/deadly earth... pick an actual combat where it is more likely to work and record it only when it DOES work.
it's entirely useless to show a combo that literally doesn't work.
Just gonna take a look at your channel to see how many helpful videos you’ve posted, since you’re an expert. And before you say the same to me, that combat video on my feed is directly responsible for getting that setup nerfed after I posted a tutorial on their forum. I then took over the wiki. Good data is still good data dude.
