There's so many great jokes in this storyboard version of the pilot already! The dialogue in this is almost the same as the final version, plus even here the models are really polished, you can even see that they already have wireframe renders of the 3D animation this early in production. Idk why, this stuff is just really impressive to me for some reason.
I bet the CG stuff was started as soon as the story board was created. This was thrown together with VO to give to the animators who were probably foreign based something to get started on.

They tend to do this a lot during animatics for animated shows; they’ll switch between the original voice actor and then placeholder lines for voice lines that haven’t been completed yet. I could be wrong but I recall animatics for SpongeBob being the exact same way.
I laughed at it so hard, it really is a solid Fry moment I mean regardless of this being a segueway to the intro theme - I would have enjoyed this quote so much better
How ironic that when this first aired it was a neat show about the future, but now 20 years later we're here looking back on it with nostalgia missing what once was and the time we had back then. It's amazing when a show's concept can grow with the audience and be seen from two different perspectives from the airing and then the post airing. Also, looking back on this show I kinda realize how hard they dropped the concept of the career chips considering it was the entire drive of the series being kicked off.
Exactly, I wish they showed that in at least 1 scene in the show instead of it being knocked over in Old New York. Although there is a scene showing the before and after of Fry's house, and they included the Empire State Building not being there in the after portion, as it was knocked down, and I enjoyed that little detail.

Music cues and themes can be developed early but they aren’t refined and cut to time until picture lock. You would never want to work from a Leica because it’s timing is pretty loose beyond overall runtime.

Honestly, if you're from the past, it would be cool to be able to see the Empire State Building's uppermost levels up close without having to go inside! 9:14 This is such a cute thing for Fry to do. And I love how confused the robot/machine is about it. 20:59 The extended New Year's Rockin' Eve sequence is kinda fun, but I understand why they cut it short. 23:15 This is a fun line! I sorta wish they kept it in. But it probably hurts the pacing a little bit. 24:02 This is a cute scene!

I don't. The show ended with a good, well-made and sentimental episode. A great way to finish it without being destroyed.
