With a long-term stalking situation like this, the stalker has convinced himself that his victim has feelings for him. You do not realize how terrifying having a stalker can be it seems. And neither does August, generally he lacks awareness to women-specific problems and it's kind of cringe. She probably hoped by "being friends" aka answering his texts every now and then she could keep him at bay. Stalkers can get really angry when you break contact or ignore them.
When I blocked my stalker everywhere he crossed statelines just half a week later to seek me out and kill me and my girlfriend (and our cats). His attempt failed, but I would never blame a stalker-victim for being too kind to their stalker.

  • @JackieOwl94

The reason why he said “I’m a student” is that the Indian caste system sees police as lower caste and students (actually academics as a whole) as higher in the caste, and often they can get away with crimes if they do that. And a lot of Hindus in their communities as well as new Indian immigrants still try to use the system to get out of stuff. The system also sees women as property, which might contribute to his blasé attitude.
Not all are like this, but some don’t realize they aren’t in their home community anymore.
