Sad to me that i see no comments about the fact that the legendary Carl Reiner was one of the sportscasters. He was a huge part of much lf the comedy deceloped in sitcoms in the fifties and sixties. They didn't try to make him overtly funny in this show because part of the humor was for the audience recognizing it was HIM impersonating a then well known sportscaster.

I'd totally forgotten about his routine but once I'd started watching it the 'sandwich in the shorts' part came back to me immediately. Classic Steve Martin.

And he's a Renaissance man too!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great author too, I love his novel.
this video reminds me that steve martin has always sucked. plus his hair has been white since his 20s apparently

"He's putting his sandwich away for later" - I love Steve Martin, my Uncle used to do his routines for me when I was 3, I'm a lifetime fan!
I was probably 12 when this special was first on. Anyone that has grown up with a pool or been around a pool is familiar with these "dives". Classic.
Funniest man of all time.
Put a comma after Uncle and that would make Steve your uncle. How cool would that be?
I loved the "slow lane" swimming bit.
Me too! When he said the others were given the slick lanes, I lost it!
He had thicker water.
Takes me back to when I went to the pool as a kid, these were all very popular dives!!
