I love that you bring up the disability comment. I think I've mentioned it before but these gadgets really do help us! I can't stand up long enough to prepare a meal because I broke my neck/back/hip and I have lots of these kooky gadgets because they help lots! it's the difference between making a meal at home over take aways. I like watching your videos so I can see which ones would be good for me :) there's a can opener that has a button on the side that makes it so you don't have to touch the dirty lid or cut yourself, it's one of my favorites but my friends/family think it's pointless haha
Just a heads up with microwaves... 2 minutes + 2 minutes + 2 minutes does not equal the cooking power of 6 minutes straight. That would be why it took longer than 6 minutes to cook. If you want a true test of a kitchen gadget, you need to follow the instructions to the letter. You can't expect their results if you don't do it as they say! It's like making a recipe and leaving a bad review saying "this recipe is awful. I followed the directions completely except I substituted coconut oil for butter, ground almonds for flour, soy milk for cream, and splenda for sugar and it just didn't come out right!" Just saying! Love your videos though!
And 800 w microwaves are pretty low wattage too. Average is 1000 and ours is 1200 so if directions say to cook something for 4 min in a 1000 w microwave we check at 2.5 to be sure we haven't burned it.
Ultimately, how long did it take? I can't catch him mentioning the time, other that the last time he says, 'it's been 15 minutes, now.' but it's still cooking
I feel like gadgets like this should have a disclaimer in the instructions explaining that. Something like, _"DO NOT STOP MICROWAVE UNTIL RECOMMEND COOKING TIME HAS ELAPSED. DOING SO WILL INTERRUPT THE COOKING PROCESS."_
The fact that you mentioned the disability side of things is much appreciated. Everyone makes fun of those forks that spin themselves for spaghetti but if you have arthritis or muscle issues they can be life-savers haha
Honestly, that time of watching the stirring gadget was really relaxing. I would definitely watch an entire video of it stirring something smoother like tomato soap
+Azuen Time it doesn't necessarily be tomato soup, just something smooth. Tomato soup was the only smooth item I could think of at 3 in the morning last night 😂
I love you for bringing it to people's attention that a lot of these gadgets are disability friendly. Some of the ones you've shown in the past have been complete game changers! Thanks for making your videos so accessible x
Thank you Barry for acknowledging and bringing up that some kitchen gadgets are useful for people with disabilities, I grow tired of people complaining and not realizing that some of these gadgets actually help people.
I think the problem with the chips crisper is a combination or a couple of things. The chips probably were to thick. You should really get the mandolin or the slicer on a food processor. That's why you couldn't get them out at the end of the video. The other thing is that you kept stopping the microwave to check on the chips. Maybe the instructions said to do that, but if it says it needs 6 minutes, it probably means continuous cooking. You can look through the glass to check them without having to stop the microwave. You should try this experiment doing those changes to see what happens. Cheers!
Even if some are"pointless" the whole point is to test them to see if they work. It's very helpful since that way we'll know if they're worth buying !(:
I LOVE the fact that you kindly stated that there are people with disabilities who may have a difficult time and really could use these gadgets. It was amazing that you pointed that out, instead of telling people to just jog on. Thank you for asking people to open their minds before their mouths. ❤
thank you so much for mentioning people with disabilities in the beginning of the video! many of these gadgets were originally created for that purpose and thats why they seem so pointless for abled people happy anniversary!!! we would love some gadgets from you!!
I absolutely adore your kitchen gadget videos! I have a thing for gadgets and could spend literally hours looking at them (and buying way too many) lol I have antique kitchen gadgets mounted on my kitchen wall for decoration. Keep up the great work!
I was thinking rice pudding tart. Let that thing take the first 45 minutes of stirring the rice pudding while the pastry gets made, rolled and blind-baked.
If it was more powerful and had a bigger paddle, it could revolutionize the process of pan-drying choux paste as well @-@ I get sore arms for days trying to get that dough the perfect kind of dry.
Just a quick comment. Given what you said at the beginning of your video re people remembering that these gadgets may be needed by people with various conditions to make their lives easier. I found it interesting that when testing the automatic stirrer, though you didn't dismiss it altogether, did give the impression you couldn't see the point of it really. Yet for people with arthritis, other joint conditions and loss of limbs this may be incredibly helpful. Or even perhaps when making a big meal and have lots of pans going at once, for a busy home cook, or a new mum this might be really helpful too. Just seemed a little contradictory, though you had just been distracted by the post. That said I really do like your video's and have been subscribed for a while now and really would love to get that can drainer and that apple corer, peeler slicer machine. too. Plus think your recipies are really good too. Hopefully I don't sound too critical, was just a little confused. :)
The thing doesn't really go fast enough, or seem stable enough, to prevent liquids from burning to the bottom of the pan if the recipe calls for anything higher than medium-low heat, or if you're heating something with flour or milk in it. Basically, it stirs things that don't really require more than an occasional stir every twenty minutes. There was also a different, faster, more functional version of it on the British TV show Gadget Man, which is what I'm assuming Barry expected to see in action.
I would say he was a bit dismissive because the gadget didn't work as efficiently as thought. Yes it could be useful to those people as you say but only if it stirred the whole pan. Can use a smaller pan but then that defeats the point of making a big meal. There is another gadget like this one which works better though and moves around.
If you've ever watched the infomercial for it, it's shown to be much, much more effective than the end product actually is. I know that's not much of a surprise, but seeing as how it barely works, it's definitely a disappointment. Especially if someone with arthritis did buy it to help out with stirring
+My Virgin Kitchen I know this one isn't, sorry I didn't make that clear. I was just meaning if you do agree to make sponsored videos, they shouldn't out number the non-sponsored ones.
are u going to pay Barry for his time ..If not why should he not make money $$.That elitist BS about you tubers not sponsoring them self is just that BS.He is not some kid playing video games; he is a man making money for his family .
I don't know if the ship has sailed on creating your own line of kitchen gadgets, but I think a line of disability-friendly and/or ergonomically designed tools is a fantastic idea!
Loving the can drainer thingy-me-bob! Yes, as many people have already posted, you can just use the can lid, but it gets all over your fingers and you risk cutting your fingers on the edge of the tin so - it's a thumbs up from me! I won't be rushing out to buy the stir-crazy. I think that one needs some more development. Nice idea just a bit.. hmm. As for the crisp maker - I have to confess that I bought one from Amazon several months ago but I haven't tried it out yet because I don't have a mandoline either! Now you've motivated me to go out and get one and give it a go! I love what you do. It's all well and good seeing all the blurb about all these gadgets but I prefer to see real people test them in real situations. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing!
I fell in love with the channel because of these videos. I was sunk when he started pointing out how handy they are for disabilities. Oftentimes opening jars and bottles are difficult because of my lack of fine motor controls and those jar openers are a godsend
+GameraTheBrave for sure but for tuna and what not you can use the lid to press out the liquid or do anything that thing can and it's was less clumsy than that gadget
I have the can colander and have used it for a good few years now.... it's so great especially with tuna. stops you getting tuna smelling hands and leaves you with nice dry tuna rather than tuna that'd still wet. love it.
I've had one of those can colanders, a pink one, for years. I absolutely love it! It's not flimsy and will last a long time. It takes up very little space and washing it up is so easy after you use it. Honestly it's so handy. I agree with you about the snarky comments and I'm glad you brought it up. People are so quick to judge and criticize. Some of the gadgets do seem a bit silly for the average person, but you're just displaying them, you didn't invent them. Even if you did invent them, I'd applaud you for trying to make someone's life a little easier. My father has M.S. and doing anything in the kitchen is a huge challenge, (especially if it involves getting a firm grip on a knife to cut something), so he often gives up and just settles for the same old sandwich every day. If one of these "silly" gadgets helps him make something other than another tired old sandwich, then I'm going to buy it for him. Thank you for sharing these gadgets with us.
You know, Barry's enthousiasme makes me happy, at least every week I watch a video of his. He's so positive, enthusiastic and happy-like... also, I love his English accent. I love how he thinks about people with disabilities and how the gadgets would help them. Barry is thoughtful, and also funny at times. His channel is amazing, I wish he'd get more subscribers! So Barry, thank you for not being a bad being (as some people say). If you wouldn't have created this channel, I would have never written this comment. Good day/night commenter.
Thank you for acknowledging the people who use some of these gadgets due to disability. My mom has MS and we're beyond happy whenever we can fin something that makes her life a little easier. She loves cooking, so kitchen gadgets are a must.
The less agile among us tend to pour half the liquid down the can in a steady stream, usually down an arm, past the sink, onto the cabinets and floor. I've been shown a million times how to do it, and it still feels like I'm dislocating my elbow. That teenie tiny can colander would also be easier to clean than a full-size strainer or spaghetti colander.
I used to do that to tuna and mock people who needed a special gadget...and then I got a can opener that unseals the can, rather than cuts it open. As such, the can lid is bigger than the can, and now I own a different version of a strainer for tuna. Humble pie eaten.
THANK YOU for pointing out some peoples need for the gadgets due to disability. Yes! So many would never even consider that. I'm constantly needing more help with every day things and you truly just brightened my day! ☺️
the crazy stir thing isnt just for lazy people it can be for people who have to cook alot of food at once so it takes care of one thing so they can worry about less
Someone reviewing kitchen gadgets who actually knows that people with disabilities struggle and those gadgets could help? Amazing. Iconic. Beautiful. We stan!
Barry, should you wish to try your own ideas for various (useful) food gadgets, go for it. It is your channel- your subscribers/ friends respect and are interested in what you mainly do.
I've bought and used the "crisp maker" and was very very pleased with it... mine came with a slicing tool, so the potatoes were much thinner. Definately do NOT use any oil since it may damage your grid. Try to season your crisps beforehand. I have a 1000w microwave and needed also a longer time period as marketed...
I loved all three of those gadgets !!!! I guess they are easily accessible on line ??? My mouth was watering watching you eat those chips !!!! And I would love that tuna strainer !!!Mrs. Barry must love them too !!!!
Oh my sweet Lord sugar, 3:15 I got a scare! I did not expect that! Even worst with headphones, hahaha Boston in the background: What I'm doing with my life? hahahahah
Everyone's hating on the can colander but I have this at home and it's great. I mostly use it for tuna. Gets all the liquid out and keeps all the tuna in. Seriously one of my fave kitchen items
I have a can colander that I have had for years that I love. Mine actually snaps on to the cans so you can turn them upside down and let them drain while doing other things. The way it is made lets it fit on 3 different can sizes.
And on tuna, you just cut the lid completely around, then press it down to squeeze the broth out of the tuna. However, I could see if you were preparing meals with children that the mini colander might be safer then asking them to deal with partially cut lids. Or if you have one of the can openers that detaches the entire lid from the sides of the tin instead of cutting through it, you don't get the "drain through lid" option.
i really appreciate the lil mention of the fact that a lot of these types of things can be handy for folks w disabilities, because i think that not enough people realize that! so thank you haha
l love those can colanders. I bought mine years ago with the intend of using them solely for tuna cans. So much better than using the lid of the can. The lid bends and poses a cutting hazard. I'm also loving that color, mine came in plain old white.
Oh my goodness your black pug is flipping gorgeous, he’s so so adorable! We used to have two gorgeous black pugs over the years and we miss them beyond words, thank you for including your awesome pugs in your videos it’s so so fun!!
Dumb question but what do you do with the gadgets that you don't like that much? You have done a lot of testing gadgets and some are a fail. I doubt you keep them tho lol.
I think that was your main problem. Thinner slices would work better. Maybe a more powerful microwave too. Here in the states, the usual standard in instruction manuals is a 1000 watt microwave.
Never knew that was a can colander...I just use the one around mine and others kitchens as a sink waste catcher when I am doing dishes or to catch anything when draining water. Learn something knew everyday! Thanks!
hi my name is Emily and 3yrs ago my father lost his the feeling in the lower part of his body causeing him to live the rest of his life in a wheelchair.2wks ago I showed him your show and he loves it .so thank you for what you said in the beginning of your video😊
microwave crisps with salt, pepper and paprika are really good. salt and curry powder are another favourite. we always coat our potatoes in oil before microwaving about 4 minutes.
Thank you so much for putting in that disclaimer about disabled people. I have a hard time stirring sometimes, and to make a simple soup, that stirrer would be exactly what I need :).
I love that you take into mind the feelings of people with disabilities when it comes to these gadgets! Like you said, yea some of these are kinda crazy and silly and we have fun with the show, but they do help some! And I just think it is great that you think about. Just recently discovered your videos and I am now a subscriber :)
Hope you enjoy the video folks, it's our wedding anniversary today so won't be on here too much to reply.

I think the chip/crisp gadget would've took the amount of time needed if the slice were thinner.

+Alex Abrams I'm alive, knowing it could have been the other way is enough to keep me going :) thank you pretty lady :)
+Lucky Lex it's good to see people so positive, hope you're okay and doing fine.
he may mention it , but in the video, he says " if you wanna be lazy" insinuating that only lazy people would use it

Oh the stirring thing too! Duh.
Exactly!! Love how he is so upfront!
Honestly, that time of watching the stirring gadget was really relaxing. I would definitely watch an entire video of it stirring something smoother like tomato soap
tomato soap?
I think Dove soap would be better
I always wash with tomatos as well :D
Some people don't like the smell, but who cares right?
+Azuen Time it doesn't necessarily be tomato soup, just something smooth. Tomato soup was the only smooth item I could think of at 3 in the morning last night 😂
Shoot okay I now understand why everyone is questioning me. I meant soup, not soap. Even though that was clearly a typo I thought I'd explain.
I love you for bringing it to people's attention that a lot of these gadgets are disability friendly. Some of the ones you've shown in the past have been complete game changers! Thanks for making your videos so accessible x
It said that Stir Crazy shouldn't be left unattended, and you left it. There could have been a disaster
could have turned into war of the worlds
I know right?! I was waiting for it to go all crazy as soon as Barry left the room 😂
it wasn't unattended, Boston was watching it
WW3
Yeah... it could've started the apocalypse 😱
Thank you Barry for acknowledging and bringing up that some kitchen gadgets are useful for people with disabilities, I grow tired of people complaining and not realizing that some of these gadgets actually help people.
We use that can colander in our sink drain to keep the garbage from going down and clogging it.
:o
You do realise there is a drain covered specifically for that
Domolikesyoshi oh yeah good point
+Domolikesyoshi Yeah. ... but another use of the collander 😁
That's so smart!!
Barry:Reads long instructions

For your next episode you should do a meal where you use all the gadgets at least on e and see if it actually improves your time or if it is easier
Clever idea! He should!!
Yes !!! That's how true gadget testing should be
This is a great idea, let me have a think along those lines
You never fail to make me laugh!! I love how you can take ANYTHING that has to do with cooking and make it humorous.
thank you so much for mentioning people with disabilities in the beginning of the video! many of these gadgets were originally created for that purpose and thats why they seem so pointless for abled people
happy anniversary!!!
we would love some gadgets from you!!
I absolutely adore your kitchen gadget videos! I have a thing for gadgets and could spend literally hours looking at them (and buying way too many) lol I have antique kitchen gadgets mounted on my kitchen wall for decoration. Keep up the great work!
the stir crazy would be amazing if you were making a jam, since nobody at all likes to stand there stirring it for 3 hours
It doesn't stir evenly enough for jam; the bits near the edge would still stick and burn.

That was the most brief/ British conversation I've ever heard with a postman
Just a quick comment. Given what you said at the beginning of your video re people remembering that these gadgets may be needed by people with various conditions to make their lives easier. And there are literally machines that have a little arm connected to an electric whisk that do it much better, and it's hands-free.
Yeah, it's lack of real functionality is what makes it pointless.
I would say he was a bit dismissive because the gadget didn't work as efficiently as thought. Yes it could be useful to those people as you say but only if it stirred the whole pan.
Can use a smaller pan but then that defeats the point of making a big meal.

you could just push your finger down on the can lid to strain things in cans
I do that too, usually works pretty well. And sometimes I open the lid just a little bit and strain out the liquid before completely removing the lid.
+GameraTheBrave for sure but for tuna and what not you can use the lid to press out the liquid or do anything that thing can and it's was less clumsy than that gadget

Good day/night commenter.
I remember an ancient video from Ashens who reviewed a simmilar microwave crisp maker.
the one where he throws a stuffed rabbit at the cameraman
Didn't Mike Jeavons do the crisp maker and a robostir?
Yeah, he's done both of them. I can't remember what he thought of the crisp maker but I know he was less than impressed with the 'robo-stir'.
Thank you for acknowledging the people who use some of these gadgets due to disability.
My mom has MS and we're beyond happy whenever we can fin something that makes her life a little easier. She loves cooking, so kitchen gadgets are a must.
What is wrong with using the top of the can to drain the cans. That's what I do and I never had a problem.
Some can openers leave metal shavings on the lid. I wouldn't want these in my food.
Like he said in the beginning, some people with disabilities would benefit the most from that gadget
+LightishRedGummi lol your profile picture made me chuckle
I have the can colander and the stir thingie. Love them both. The stirrer is great for boiling milk because it scorches so fast, it keeps it moving
This guy is too normal for a UA-camr. >_< I feel like he could be my neighbor (if I wasn't in the US, of course) or friend lol. What a personable guy!
^_^
love this video! gotta love videos that make you smile and chuckle out loud when you're just hangin and watching by yourself! thanks for a great one!
The crazystirring should be used in soup without chunks
I've bought and used the "crisp maker" and was very very pleased with it... mine came with a slicing tool, so the potatoes were much thinner. Definately do NOT use any oil since it may damage your grid. Try to season your crisps beforehand. I have a 1000w microwave and needed also a longer time period as marketed...
Is it the camera angle or were you eating from a giant jar of Nutella? If it's a giant one where's it from? I need to know!

Thanks :p
I loved all three of those gadgets !!!! I guess they are easily accessible on line ??? My mouth was watering watching you eat those chips !!!! And I would love that tuna strainer !!!Mrs. Barry must love them too !!!!
Hello, i have a question about your dog, is he (or she) a french bulldog? he's so cute ^^

Fishy aquafaba. I'm crying a little.
Oh my sweet Lord sugar, 3:15 I got a scare! I did not expect that! Even worst with headphones, hahaha
Boston in the background: What I'm doing with my life? hahahahah
The book fell! Barry, Your house is haunted!
I was waiting until I came across a comment like this. Newtons first law suggests that his house has ghosts!
Well he actually did leave the crazy stirring thing unattended, though being advised not to do so. So that's what going to happen ...
Viertelhund :o
Nice profile pic
Tdawg0 34 oh boy what a good
Everyone's hating on the can colander but I have this at home and it's great. I mostly use it for tuna. Gets all the liquid out and keeps all the tuna in. Seriously one of my fave kitchen items
8:28 lmao the pug
I've had a can colander for years. Love it! best way to drain veg and to press the water out of tuna
Please review the Slap Chop!
+Ruudiluca I have one to review yep
Fantastic, I'm looking forward to that! Loving all of your videos.
"You're gonna love my nuts" - Vince Offer
I have a can colander that I have had for years that I love. Mine actually snaps on to the cans so you can turn them upside down and let them drain while doing other things. The way it is made lets it fit on 3 different can sizes.
Let's be real the stir crazy thing honestly sounds like a vibrator 😂
Well, technically it is a vibrator.
ohmygod
well then
it's only a "back" massager
HOW DO YOU KNOW
Your dog at 8:13 looks so depressed he's like : 'what am i ever going to do with this human, should i just end it all???' 😭😂😂😂
When he told the pea to run for its life I thought about sausage party...
My daughter and I use the can strainer all the time. We LOVE it.
this guy is hilarious and awesome
I love the crisp maker and strainer. Enjoyed watching the video.
.......am i the only person who just opens part of the can top and then drains off the liquid then finishes off open the can and removing the lid.
Nope - first thought I had too. Can's have their own built in drainer if you use them properly don't they! lol
You are not.
Hanon Ondricek To be honest I think we're all over-thinking this. lol
I'd say that buying and using a separate gadget to do something that can be done by the tin itself is what counts as "over-thinking it". :-P
i really appreciate the lil mention of the fact that a lot of these types of things can be handy for folks w disabilities, because i think that not enough people realize that! so thank you haha
i dont like potatoes but i do love potato chips so i wonder if i would like that gadget or not
+justin rivera works for other veg
Whats wrong with you?
l love those can colanders. I bought mine years ago with the intend of using them solely for tuna cans. So much better than using the lid of the can. The lid bends and poses a cutting hazard. I'm also loving that color, mine came in plain old white.
I'm so drunk right now and I don't really understand this video but i love tuna and I also love the tuna 😍😏
great comment
+AnimeIsMyLife 56 auto correct
+AnimeIsMyLife 56 autocorrectur?
+Markus L. You need to turn on autocorrect so you can spell autocorrect!
but do you love the tuna?
1:10 in to the video and I wanted to give you a huge hug! Such an important message. Love these videos, love the passion you have for your cooking!

I am loving that pug in the background! Especially when he got the mail.
How did you react so calmly to your book falling, even I jumped
Probably because he has kids I feel like kids would knock stuff down and make startling noises
Probably because he has kids I feel like kids would knock stuff down and make startling noises
he already knows about the ghost, but refuses to accept it's existence
Oh my goodness your black pug is flipping gorgeous, he’s so so adorable! We used to have two gorgeous black pugs over the years and we miss them beyond words, thank you for including your awesome pugs in your videos it’s so so fun!!
Dumb question but what do you do with the gadgets that you don't like that much? You have done a lot of testing gadgets and some are a fail. I doubt you keep them tho lol.
+Jemina Ubaldo there are many willing volunteers
+My Virgin Kitchen hey can you show us how to make macarons or make a giant macaron.
+Joe jow he has made a giant macaroon
+Joe Jow he Allready did one giant :)
That HUGE nutella bucket! Chips or crisps?
how dare you throw that chickpea water out. You could've made meringues with it. Vegans cringing everywhere
It was mixed with tuna brine 😑😕
He could've drained it in another bowl
pls chill
Unless it was unsalted chickpeas, it would have made very poor tasting meringues, in my experience.
I have only just discovered this and will make a video on it
You left the Stir crazy "unattended" when you went to the door. Even after you read the directions. LOL
So how long did you put the crisps in the microwave for in the end?
15 mins but they were a lot thicker than needed
+My Virgin Kitchen I love your families accent
+My Virgin Kitchen let's make a deal I will advertise your channel for free while you send me some of your next cake 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I think that was your main problem. Thinner slices would work better. Maybe a more powerful microwave too. Here in the states, the usual standard in instruction manuals is a 1000 watt microwave.
I kind of want to try the crisp maker xD
Never knew that was a can colander...I just use the one around mine and others kitchens as a sink waste catcher when I am doing dishes or to catch anything when draining water. Learn something knew everyday! Thanks!
That tin colander is a game changer! Gonna have to buy one 👍🏻
I really enjoyed this video, those crisps look amazing!
I feel like 80% of the things Barry say should be SO cringe worthy but he manages to pull it off every time😂😂
I'm actually happy that there is actually someone who thinks about people who are disabled. Love the videos by the way
hi my name is Emily and 3yrs ago my father lost his the feeling in the lower part of his body causeing him to live the rest of his life in a wheelchair.2wks ago I showed him your show and he loves it .so thank you for what you said in the beginning of your video😊
I live in the states and the only reason I really watch this channel is to hear his ancient. I just love it
My family has had that can colander forever. We love it
I've had the Stir Crazy for years, and while it doesn't stir well it does make a great head massager...
One of my favorite kitchen gadgets in my kitchen is my can colander. I love it.
microwave crisps with salt, pepper and paprika are really good. salt and curry powder are another favourite. we always coat our potatoes in oil before microwaving about 4 minutes.
Thank you so much for putting in that disclaimer about disabled people. I have a hard time stirring sometimes, and to make a simple soup, that stirrer would be exactly what I need :).
The self string gadget is awesome I love that thing. I love using it for making gravy.
I love that you take into mind the feelings of people with disabilities when it comes to these gadgets! Like you said, yea some of these are kinda crazy and silly and we have fun with the show, but they do help some! And I just think it is great that you think about. Just recently discovered your videos and I am now a subscriber :)
this is the first video I have watched on your channel. I've really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to watching you previous videos as well.
Is it okay to spend my entire day on this playlist or nah?
I have never seen a dog with less reaction to a postman knocking on the door! My dogs would have lost there minds! That was too funny.
I've had the can colander for several years. I believe I purchased mine in the super market. I do like it.
the stirring thing is very good for people with reumatic or Ehler Danlos syndrom. Thanks,is it from Amazon?
