I'm pretty sure that the butter grater thing is supposed to be used with toast. The increased surface area of the butter will make the butter melt and get softer much faster than a pat of butter, making it much easier to spread. After scraping it off, wait a tiny bit to let it soften quickly before trying to spread it.
I rarely use gadgets, but there are two that work so well for specific tasks that I would not be without them. The first is a slap-chop type, which I use to mince large quantities of garlic and ginger. I almost never use it for anything else, but for this it is incredibly fast compared to a knife. The second is an ancient Mouli-Julienne, which is sort of a hand-cranked food processor. I use that to grate cheese quickly. So much quicker and easier than either a box grater or a food processor.
AixaRawr i didnt think about cheese in the butter foamer thing. does it say it on the box or are you just thinking outside the box?? i love cheese and almost all the dinners i make have cheese in them. such a smart idea.
1. I would try that butterthing with toasted bread instead of just regular cold bread. 2. I would try just spreading the butter with the gadget itself instead of using the knife. I think the knife might be the thing screwing it up.
Just a thought I had was to try both butter items together like use the twist thing to get the butter thin then use the knife to put it on the bread? I don't know if it will work out but it's worth a try please let us know if this works? I love your video's.
I feel like a fool for always doing this, but thank you for the captions. 🙏 They really help me out! I'm autistic, so my audio processing skills aren't always the best.
Barry, Barry, Barry. 😂😂 If you want the butter to spread it would be easier with toast. I also reckon you should get Mrs. Barry a dish-washer and you can wash by hand if you want!! 😂👍 Who's with me??😂
Technically he can say you turn on captions for your language and yes English is thought and spoken in most countries but the main speaking countries are Canada 🇨🇦 USA 🇺🇸 and uk 🇬🇧
I think the most useful ones are definitely the apple corer, the herb scissors, and the little strainer looking thing that stripped greens and herbs. I also love the cute little bicycle pizza cutters!!!
I was really surprised to see a Newbury Comics bag! I've spent many a time (and dollar) there over the years. Sorry that you had to visit under less-than-ideal circumstances, but glad you got something out of it.
Butter doesn't need to be cold. It's safe for butter to be room temperature, and that actually helps it get soft. If you used butter straight from the fridge, it'll resolidify immediately. If you waited for room temp, it would have done what you wanted.
Glad I found you Barry. I love these gadget videos & you make them fun. I think I gagged when you bit into all that butter though. Thanks for giving them a fair shot, you never know, one could be the next huge thing & we can all be in on the ground-floor! Keep having fun, because it's infectious & boy do we need a diversion!
It's so awesome that you pay about some of the gadgets that are helpful for people with disabilities!! Mrs.and Mr. Barry y'all are amazing!! Also, Thanks for Sunday Fun Day!
the straw is working as glasses. you just need to put the longer end around the head to the other side and then into a drink, as it was shown on the packaging. ;)
Oh and the branding thing on different countries, here in Spain we have brands like... "Just for men", carphone warehouse it's here called "The phone house" and your autoglass repair shop, here it's called "car glass" they even translated the jingle
I know this video is super old but i wanted to comment. I actually handle cold butter similar to that "butter knife 2" bit. I scrape a little off the top with the serrated side then spread it. Not nearly as much as you scrape off but i find it spreads easier by scraping a thin layer off the top then, after placing the butter onto the toast, scraping again the same way but spreading it as i do. It spreads really nicely that way.
"Speaking two languages is cool" well don't you guys learn other languages at school in Little Britain? Here in Germany they taught us English and then either French or Latin at our school. So many people know three languages from school and maybe even one or two extra ones depending on what other languages are spoken by their parents at home. So yeah.
lifehacker123 I'm in Britain too, and we do indeed learn two languages, usually at around our 8th year in school, Spanish and French being what we learn~ also, it's nice to have one of my favourite UA-camrs coming from the same country as me~
lifehacker123 in Britain we usually get taught French, German and/or Spanish ( these are the most common ones) but it's usually only in secondary school and most people forget afterwards 😊
i was wondering can you use stirio too help people make a dough ? i know some people who have some pain in their shoulders and they can't do it by themself, i know there is a machine with a bowl that can do it, but this thing is cheaper, and for people without the biggeste pocket 50 dollars can be alot.
With the butter former thingamobob you should toast the bread because it should make the butter a lot warmer and it should kind of melt and then it will be easier to spread......hopefully
Haha mrs Barry had mentioned many times that when she cooks the kids enjoy it but when he cooks they are jumping around cause he cooks the food with a lot of spices 😂
I know this is an old video... but the butter in America is in small sticks with markings to show you where to cut for your measuring pleasure. Does the block of butter in the UK have markings on it also?
Home-made icecream sandwiches? With wafers? And this is popular enough that you can buy both plain wafers and a gadget to make ice cream wafer sandwiches??? In America we just buy them from the store, and the "bread" bit of the sandwich is more like a cookie than a wafer. I don't even think we have unflavored wafers in stores... We have the cream-sandwich wafers (basically wider kit kats without the chocolate coating) in multiple flavors though, just not ice cream.
NothingIsSacred I'll bet you do have unflavored (well, they're made with sugar) wafers in stores, you just don't notice them for reasons of convenience which is absolutely fine. When I started to cook my own food I was somewhat amazed what kind of stuff there is in supermarkets. I'm from Germany tho, but I think it's a thing you will notice it, if you ever need it.
Actually, I don't think I had any Hanuta wafers. I had a lot of Loacker brand ones, that is what the family I stayed with bought. And lots of Kinder chocolates. :)
Ayverie Ablaze hmm.. Seems like "Loacker" isn't too popular in Germany, I'll try some if I get my hands on it. Hanuta was just the first thing that came to mind, when you said hazelnuts and chocolate.
In the Netherlands we learn English very soon. Its kind off our second language 😂. almost every one can talk English. At least all the people I know 😂😂
Same in some parts of Switzerland. We start to learn it in second grade. But we also have to learn french so some learn that first. But I think because english is practically the world language now everybody learns it. And it is everywhere.
In England we don't tend to learn a second language until we start high school (age 11-12) and that is usually French, although I learnt German! We can then take 2 languages until we are 15 or so when we can drop them, which most people do. I dropped French and carried German through until I was 16. However we learn really pointless things like about drugs and alcohol and we never learn proper language like how to ask for a drink or food! Also, they never make us learn the same thing very much so I've forgotten most of the German I learnt to speak although I can read and translate it fairly well
I don't know why, but 21:11 is so funny to me! I think it's just the tone of his voice combined with the glasses and the milk straw that kinda makes him seem like a timid 12 year old nerd in school who was just shouted at by a teacher!
I recently found a kind of resealable clip-on lid you can clip onto bags and pour stuff directly out of the bag, e.g. rice or lentils. Maybe you could try that one. I am probably trying it myself but maybe other people with little storage space might like it as well.

Kara F well I don't know where you're from but in Canada we have rectangle shaped ice cream. which is make for slicing and you cut it and put it on the wafers or waffles and make a sandwich since it's already a rectangular
I really liked the veg dicer box in one of your previous videos, I feel like that would speed up my food prep so much! If you choose to make gadget boxes I'd love one of them!
I'm pretty sure that the butter grater thing is supposed to be used with toast. You should cook a meal only using kitchen gadgets

hi im also in the UK
My Virgin Kitchen need a cup cake corer and egg separator in the box and then the elvis singing egg timer !!!
My Virgin Kitchen you are supposed to let the butter sit until its at room temperature...then it spreads
barry, do you even know how to spread butter on bread?
Douglas Amaya what do you mean
It's supposed to be used for toast! Lmao
You're using way too much butter with those 2 butter gadgets. I suspect they'll work better if you use a lot less butter.
+
Gooberslot not just that, but with the knife it said to use short strokes and instead he used large sweeping motions.
Also he should've used toast it is more firm
+Dennie Lester But what if he didn't want toast?
I'd use the butter foam thing with cheese though

Carmen I mean, I'm cool not having a dishwasher since my husband does 90% of the dishes
I will start a petition. To get Mrs.Barry a dishwasher.

the butter gadgets said to use on toast which might be why they didn't work that well
Ethan Brimacombe also probably not supposed to that much butter
beutyfulnytmar13 yeah probably
The heat of the toast will melt the butter though, kinda pointless for tools that help spread butter
Sk3elly yeah but the heat will make the butter less thick and it will help spread better so it's no pointless
"Do you guys know english as well?"
Well... we are watching you Barry so answer would be yes :P
Haha lol
Can you try the butter spaghetti maker with cheese please?
That's actually a much better use for the butter-curlie-thing :P

Lars Stoerloes no youre supposed to spread it with a knife, ive seen other videos about it too
Lars Stoerloes the heated knife should be able to do it anyways because that's what it's made for
Its meant for room temp butter not refrigerated.
You have to know how to butter bread for them to work
Mr. Barry, you are so cute with such an adorable laugh! It's helps put me in a better mood! You are so fun!
Are the product names in English because that is how the products were trademarked?
Garden Plots yes I think so too
