Amazing work and thank you for making this video. I have a similar project and I am wondering if you are using real gold or copper zinc gold foil. Thanks.
Sealing gold is not required and in fact, causes dulling of the finished gold. Gold does not oxidize, so sealing, unless the piece is to be handled a lot, is quite unnecessary and actually reduces the quality of the finish.
Imitation gold leaf does need sealing as it will change colour over time. Especially a small ornament/statue that is used indoors. Due to the nature of the product (statue) it can also be scratched, damaged or vulnerable to regular cleaning products in the home. Real gold leaf yes 23ct and upwards has amazing benefits that prevents it from oxidization for decades. but your right, ascetically its better not to seal it. however for durability it is very much needed. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience, ill make sure I go into a lot more detail next time. cheers :)
You did a magnificent job. I am planning on getting a statue which will need it.. Thank you so very much. I also have a couple of things around the house I would not mind gilding.. TTFN and Namaste.
