      That's amazing dude, I listen to a lot of Grunge, Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, especially TOOL, I've played bass for close to a year now and it's still hard for me at times but it's definitely worth it, don't give up no matter what. One last thing, if your fingers start hurting, then that's when it's time to stop, pulling a muscle in one of your fingers could paralyze your entire arm. And if your fingertips start peeling and forming calluses, that's actually a good sign, don't quit man, keep going and I promise you'll see the light at the end of the tunnel.

      It is. But it's a relatively rare one. It's an FSR, Fender Special Run. So it's a Limited Edition. I don't think that's what makes it so special. But that might be all it is. The fretboard is a little different than the others I've seen in that series. So it could be a customized version of it. Or maybe an off batch of the limited run. Which would make it very rare.
      Personally, my guess is that he won it in a contest or was gifted to him by someone he respects. Which, combined with its relative rarity, I could see myself not wanting to ever play it out either.

      @@KarstenJohansson Yeah, I bought my bass (OG white Deluxe Active Jazz 5 with phenolic fingerboard) 13 years ago and it’s sick.
      I used to recommend G&L Tribute, but the amount of razor blade fret ends those get and just the feel… nah.
      They only have 1 Floyd-Rose equipped guitar model in 2 weird colours, but so much variety otherwise! They get crazy.
      I bought my Tele knowing I was replacing the neck eventually (aluminum from Hoxey), but the stock one is fantastic! 70s accurate not-quite-baseball-bat. Great finish. Fantastic fret treatment…
      I’m changing out that bridge, but that’s not build quality, just old, flawed design. Also, I want a bridge that’s insanely high-mass. Trying for a lap- pedal steel type sound.
      The pickups are good. Rocking tone, nice cleans. I’m putting real CuNiFe ones in, but that’s years down the line.
      Notice that I will have ship of Theseus-ed this thing into a body and pickguard eventually, but I didn’t neeeed to. I’m just insane.

    • @KarstenJohansson
      @KarstenJohansson 9 місяців тому

      @@GretchZ Never heard of the nickel method, but it certainly would round off the edges. I have a fair amount of guitar repair/maintenance tools, so I use a proper filing block, which minimizes scraping the neck itself, too. The nickel idea is probably a fair choice when it's a one-off job. Or maybe the edge of a quarter.
      Also never heard of E-D syndrome until now, but it has some cross over with Marfan, which I do know about since I have *two* acquaintances with it. Marfan doesn't really affect the skin though. Just the bones and joints - they can do all the same bendy flexy tricks!
