    I did this so easily using an SD1970 + an aliexpress dial, and it's perfect: wearable (unlike a real 6105 vintage watch), accurate, inexpensive, and beautiful. I'm now going to build a Samurai -esque cased NH36 movement, so I'll have a day + date upgraded dial, for about €100. Not just getting a full Seiko-powered 200m dive watch for a fraction of the price, having the satisfaction of building it yourself is kinda priceless.

    Wearing mine now. I love it!
    Started as a Semdu willard, the cheapest at the time since SD1970 hadn't come out yet.
    -changed the cheap insert
    -changed the dial to a 'SEIKO' one
    -changed the glass to a 6105 style one.
    -modified the new insert to fit
    -modified the new glass to fit
    -relumed the hands
    -brushed out all the polished parts
    -using a Tornek style pass-through strap from Rdunae, 19mm

    What a superb result, you’ve done a great job! I would leave the case alone - it’s authentic at 19mm lug width and if you open it to 20mm the holes might become too shallow to retain the spring bars.

    Hey Dan. Found your vids recently. Loved that this case mimics the OG. So I ordered all the parts off Ali. I put it all together and it looks mint. I found the bezel action on the case had loads of play, anyone else have that problem. Anyway, what I did was got the 20mm rubber waffle and shaved 0.5mm off each side and swapped the spring bars👌🏻. Got a 20 bond elastic nato that works well too. Going to order a 19mm Milanese from Ali, see how that looks. Keep up the good work 👊🏻

    good job! it turned out great. i wouldn't do anythin to thee case, if you want 20mm lugs get a 20mm lugs case or just sand off some endlinks. you can keep those straight if you attach them to a "helper" block of something that you know has a 90 angle, you sand those both at the same time, this way it stays straight. like how people do it on lapping machines.

    I recently fitted a replacement dial from Seikosis which, while pricey, looks the part. I need to replace the bezel insert to one with 4 dots either side of the lume pip and I'm always intrigued, the original Seiko 6105 always looks as though the minute track is repeated due to the bevel on the crystal but none of the other homages, appear to have nailed this little detail. The crystal you've used on this looks pretty good for giving that effect but not sure it would fit my Rdunae R2X. Given that I'm the only one that will ever know (or care) it hardly seems worth the effort. Great video.

  • @andrewbarnes5802

    It's a lovely looking watch, great build and I love your attention to detail, including the roundness of the coin edge bezel and the ballbearings beneath it. I'd never noticed until I watched this but mine has this detail. I've got the Rdunae version and I have to say, it's closer to the original than Steeldive or others I've looked at. It's got Lock on the crown, it's got the 19mm waffle/chocolate bar strap, the date is at 4 o'clock. I was going to change the dial this afternoon to one from Seikosis but ran out of time. Love the video, inspirational stuff.

Having said that I thought your suggestions were excellent and helpful. I have the SLA033 but also wanted the King Turtle. For the King Turtle I added a lumed bezel insert and chapter ring. I also took off that hideous cyclops. That wasn’t easy!!!

    Thank you for another video of really great looking Willard. I agree with you on majority of aesthetical points here and me personally love the blue AR coating of the beautifully domed crystal. Don't know if original SLAs have blue one as well but it reminds me of it more. What would bother me is the WR uncertainty on diver's watch and a bit shame that the loom isn't on par with Lumibrite. Cheers!

    Sorry that's a 20mm, your case is 19mm. I used this braclete on my Willard, but the sace I used had a 20mm lug width. That said it fit perfectly between the lugs, but the bottom of the end link sticks out too far, so I had to file those down. I used the same dial and it's amazing, love the 150 M water Proof.

    I can't get my head around how you achieved date window alignment with the 4.1-ish crown position. Great video, as always.

    • @ItsAnotherWatch
      @ItsAnotherWatch  10 місяців тому

      It was a combination of 2 things:
      1. I put a steeldive dial on the movement and made some scratches on my movement holder at specific minute marks to help with alignment.
      2. I made sure to set it around the correct date number that was showing when the dial was on.
      I can imagine that this would have been much harder if I didn't have a 4.1 scrap dial to use as a guide. I did actually mention this in my initial rambling video but forgot to mention it when doing the shorter version.

    • @scottlewis2372
      @scottlewis2372 10 місяців тому

      @@ItsAnotherWatchThank you for replying, but I'm apparently too dense to understand. As I see it, the date wheel numeral spacing is indexed so a date is at 3 o'clock when the crown is at 3 or 3.8. In my head a 4.1 crown will either have the date falling out of the bottom of the window or 12 o'clock will not be at the true top of the case.

    • @ItsAnotherWatch
      @ItsAnotherWatch  10 місяців тому +2

      @@scottlewis2372The date wheel should line up with all 3 of those crown positions without needing to be changed. Since even when I did a 4.1 crown position build, (with my 6105 Tribute build) using an NE15, I didn't have to change it from its default one.

    • @ItsAnotherWatch
      @ItsAnotherWatch  7 місяців тому

      @@hereward1971 Yes, it is only the NH36 day wheels that need to be changed for crown alignment. So as long as you remove the dial feet and use dial dots to manually align the date window for the 4.1 crown position it will work, which is what I did with the build in this video. As I mentioned in the conclusion, if you don't want to mess around with dial dots, the Namoki 6105 style case has a 3.8 crown do you can just use the dial as it is.

      @@zestycalcoAs far as I know that's correct. if you have the heimdallr apart, check the dial feet on the back of the dial. If they look like this: imgur.com/a/7n5CafG then its a 4.1 crown position. (and I know that seikosis says 4.2 but its actually 4.1.

      Thank you so much for the info! I love the 6105 but It doesn't make sense to me to wear a vintage watch daily and the re-issues are too expensive for me to want to bang around. These clones are perfect for beaters because the movement is robust and they're inexpensive overall but still have that vintage charm. I don't want to mod them too much but there are little things I would like to tweak to get them as close as possible to the originals. Modding watches has always looked intimidating but your videos are super helpful in showing me that anyone can do it. Thanks for making them! @@ItsAnotherWatch

      I have one more question if you don't mind. I actually prefer an aluminum bezel of the ceramic. The scuffs add a bit more of that worn-in charm imo. The Heimdallr clone I have comes with a ceramic. Is it difficult to pop out the ceramic bezel insert? Does it make more sense to just but a whole new bezel to fit the aluminum insert? If so could you recommend a bezel that is close to the original? @@ItsAnotherWatch

    If someday you wanted to get that chocolate bar strap, just keep in mind it os very stiff, so stiff like it was back in the 70s XD, maybe it was on purpose. (Chocolate bar strap from Rdunae) i bought it for my Steeldive 1970. Didn't like it. I didn't have the watch already but i still got that strap laying somewhere in my dark closet 😅

    A 20mm rubber silicone or FKM strap fits a 19mm case like on my Rdunae 6105-8000 homage. Don't bother with a bracelet because original ones had only rubber straps.

      Unfortunately not, I ended up getting another silicone strap for it that allows for a deployment clasp. I breifly showed it in my latest video here: ua-cam.com/video/e9MoV4bFtUQ/v-deo.htmlsi=U48NwrMEi1vWSvFC&t=1194

    Does anyone know what the difference is between 'color 3' and 'color 4' in the feiyashi case options? They look like they're the same thing, with just the bezel rotated differently in the photo, but maybe I'm not looking closely enough to see the difference? All of the other options are clearly different in the bezel rings...

    • @ItsAnotherWatch
      @ItsAnotherWatch  7 місяців тому +1

      It looks like on "Colour 3" its got dark Blue on the bezel from 12 to 20. Where as "Colour 4" is black.

    Really nice idea, but these parts DO NOT FIT!
    The hands suggested do NOT go onto the movement!
    Well, perhaps they will, if you are capable of 1/10000 inch control of your parts.
    I've done parts before. These do NOT fit.
    Nice hands, do NOT go on...
    The Face will go on, but the instructions/demo here, suck / are non-existent.
    This could be a real BEAUTIFUL watch, but the parts given do NOT go together.
    Skip this guy until he gives MUCH better instructions, detailed video...
