The majority of Lees are lies.. But the quick witted story telling makes everything worth it

Lee knew he couldn't convince them that he had written a cook book so he went for the joke instead. Both Lee and David have stated that they consider the show to be a parlor game where the main object is to have fun rather than win.

they both also do pretty well with it. (Rightfully so) So they win anyway.

Lees mind is so sharp. So quickfire, not only with his jokes but the stories he conjures up. Just brilliant

The man on Lee's left is Adrian Edmondson. He was a comedy partner of Rik Mayall. They have some really funny videos up on youtube. But "Rik Mayall & Adrian Edmondson break character" is my favorite.
And the song is "Rock around the Clock".

One of the things to remember here is there is a overall meta game being played by the team captians. Because they are on every show, most of their truths have been used up, so they mostly get lies but the trick for them then becomes making up a story that is also funny, to entertain. Lee has that lighting quick wit which really helps him here, he can react and be funny like no one else. But as David once said, this game plays tricks on you. Because in the meta game they both know every now and again the producers will throw out a truth for the captains, and when you've been getting used to Lee or David telling 2 lies per show for 8 shows, your not so sure if on the 9th one his actually lying.
Just one of the elements which makes this show so great. Remember they have no idea what is written on the cards until they read them, they don't know if they will even get a truth that day (which goes for all players), so not only are you judging if something is true, you are also judging that persons ability to lie on the spot. This is why Claudia Winkleman is so good at it, she herself is so hard to read because she is batsh!t crazy to start with :)

Nice to hear a previous comment of mine to get a mention today! My favorite bit of this video was when Nick asked Jodi why she said 'lie', and she shrugged casually and said, "Oh, I totally thought the whole thing was fabricated." Nick's expression and facepalm of shame that followed was a joy to watch. An absolutely delightful moment.
    Hope you're both well.

I noticed you smiled a little when Lee said "P..p..p..pick up a Penguin." Well done, if you recognised this. If you didn't, it comes from an extremely well-known TV advert for Penguin chocolate biscuits from many years ago. Everyone went around saying "P..p..pick up a Penguin" which is why the audience laughed so.

I really think he should bring this out. Obviously mostly for humour value from his part, but have a chef include actual Eastern cuisine recipes, Lee would just write the bits in between the recipes, like a fake Jamie Oliver style. I'd buy it.
Similar in style to mathematician Eugenia Cheng's book (which I highly recommend) "How to Bake Pi". Each section alternates between her talking about mathematics and actual baking recipes. (In her case she did actually write the recipes - I don't expect that of Lee Mack.)

I think you’re playing this game wrong. Don’t just weigh up the details about what’s plausible. Weigh up what’s likely for a WILTY writer to be make up. Also weigh up the fact that the team captains are on every episode and all their true stories will have been exhausted in the first couple of seasons.
