Nice to see Americans loving this British show and their humour.
It is a brilliant show with so many great guests.

The guests have no preparation about the untrue stories they get. That is what makes it funnier. Sometimes you will get a slight glimpse on their face of shock or laughter before they even read the story. Most of the time though they are good at keeping a poker face. The absurdity of the story telling in the spot without preparation is what makes it funny.
A big part of British humour in terms of shows like this is being thrown into a situation that you have not prepared for and just seeing how things unfold.
We have a lot of brilliant panel shows her and personally I think most of them are absolutely hilarious.
There is an almost childlike cheekiness to them. Lighthearted fun for all the family.
    A great escape from reality!

Yeah Rob Brydon had a bit of a brain fart half way through this, but I can understand how his brain could temporarily malfunction when he was trying to imagine David Mitchell in cowboy boots. 🤣

Just a point of fact, at a charity shop / thrift store the shoes do not come in boxes. Also the contestants do not know what is on the cards before they read them except for the person who is telling the truth of course.

They do know the guest and the story they’ve got in the ‘This is My…’ round however, which isn’t made a secret. So they do have time to come up with a story for it. You’re right about the cards though (in most cases, anyway. There have been some celebs who have been given their ‘card’ beforehand so that they can come up with a story… but that’s a different story…)

Just a bit of trivia for you, but the likely reason Mitchell resorted to Medieval castle design to describe the shoes was he's a history graduate, and it seems from things others have said he particularly likes castles and the medieval period.

Charity shops in UK are where people give their second hand or unwanted items like clothing, shoes, books etc and the shop sells them and the proceeds go as donatations towards a certain charity, such as Oxfam..

Now that you mention it I wonder after all these years whether they can tell if someone is lying now, what an amazing life skill to accumulate. I mean I am sure they couldn't tell every single time and I don't think you are saying that either. But if they know even 70% or 80% of the time that would be very handy in real life.

When are you guys going to start reacting to British comedy sitcom shows? We have so many over the last 60 years which I think you would love and get! Two of these shows starred two of the WILTY contestants! One is called Not Going Out and is written by Lee Mack (and he also stars in it), and the other one is called Peep Show, which stars David Mitchell. Not Going Out is PG rated, whereas Peep Show is more adult and is more of an R rated show, with swearing but it is absolutely hilarious (as is Not Going Out!)

    Cowboy Boots
Why the pointed toe?? To be able to put the toe through the stirrup more accurately and easily than a normal boot.
Why the two inch heel?? To better prevent the foot going all the way through the stirrup and getting tangled.
Side note: One of the many uses of a six gun, is to prevent being dragged to death if your foot gets hung up in a stirrup. You can shoot the horse to save your life.

None of them know what’s going to be written on the card in front of them EXCEPT for the “This is my…” section where only one person knows the guest. Obviously the person who is telling the truth knows the guest is on, and for those bits alone the other two panelists get told maybe a half hour before. It’s meant to be enough time to get some semblance of a story thought up to back up their claim, but not enough time to really come up with a well-thought out story. Part of the fun is watching people scrabbling about to come up with answers off the cuff, so to speak.

Just a note, Acaster is pronounced with the stress on the first A. As Ay-caster. A charity shop takes in and sells items, the proceeds going to a charity, There are many of them and they are popular. Many of these people are quick thinking stand up comedians, guests can be anyone, but I don't know whether or not they get prior warning of what they will be faced with.

Please forgive this comment its meant to be light hearted. i know your wife jodie is only 5ft, but in this video, she is taller than you, i would love you to show how many cushions she is on, to get up to the good camera level, I ask, because my mother was short, back in the day, there was not much adjustment on car seats as there are now, mainly through the 70's, and she use to have 2 cushions to drive the car and reach the pedals, one she sat on to see out the window, another behind her to front her forward to the pedals, my grandfather was also short and did the same early 70's that i can remember.
