Whenever a small car company like mazda rush out many brand new models out of the door quickly, i am concerned about cutting corners in the audio system to meet the quarters.
Man I was so excited when you said the CX50 is coming up next 😂. What's not disappointing is I just got my brand new Mazda 3 with the 12 Speaker Bose sound system about a month ago. Was thinking either Civic or Mazda3, thanks to you guys (and the fact that the Civic wasn't offered with Bose here), I got the Mazda. And it sounds freakin amazingg.
At least you feel like stepping up is worth the money. However, in the case of this Meridian Edition, stepping up is a waste because you pay more for trash audio.
If you are an audiophile, buy the base and save that money for your own audio mod project. Will be cheaper (excluding your own labor cost lol) and you will be happier. I used to have 2011 BMW 328i sport which is so far the best audio system that I ever listened to, so it is my gold standard. I can sit all day in that BMW. I modded my own CX-5 2023 with the bose system to JBL Basshub 600W woofer and door speakers. And still doesn't sound as good as the BMW. I think it still needs some sound damping mat to really seal the sound.
any sugesstions how to upgrade the sound system to have better bass and better quality speakers? I know the premium model has a big bass speaker in spare tire section but you are right the sound system is bad when driving very tinny, I just got rid of my 2010 ford fusion and that sound system was much better and it was just stock
Just purchased a 2024 camry xse with the JBL system. It's ok but certain R&B songs rattle the subwoofer. Seems this is a problem with this model and dealers cannot fix
would adding a subwoofer improve the sound quality? thats the easiest thing to do. I traded cx 5 in for cx 50 and miss the bose system. I do know there was a chip shortage that affected the bose system so that could be an issue why its not in the meridian.
It seems like upgrading the base system is going to be a pain in the butt. Based on what I've read (speakers and mounts seem to be non standard sizes) so they've kind of trapped you with the base sound system unless you pay for the Bose. If this is the case I with they offer the Bose system as optional an all trim levels. The base sound system on my 2020 RAV4 LE sucked worse than the Mazda CX-50 base sold system but at least Toyota used all standard speakers and mounts so you could just swap out the factor speakers with ease.
That the problem with Bose. They soften and smoothen the base and emphasize and sharpen the mid and treble and so most song appear pleasant and pure, but when you play rock/heavy metal songs it fails miserably and no matter how much you tune the eq it always smoothen the base.
I disagree-I drove CX-50 with both systems and the Bose system sounded mildly better at best, and only had more rich bass and actually more distorted at higher volumes. Other than that there was barely any difference.
I don't understand why they don't go with a 7 speaker with a 5-channel amp with good speakers and a real subwoofer and they should get a B tier if it is tuned correctly.
@@christopherrmcg then maybe it's time for Mazda to drop Bose for a different name. who's engineers are tuning the time delays and sound performance? They'll spend a 100 man-hours on a door or warning chime and then not give the infotainment the time and tuning it needs. so sad.
@@K03sport it's keeping me from another Mazda that's for sure.. along with them not caring about acceleration/power. Even Volvo has an optional 1000 watt H/K system in their new entry level EV, because they value good audio
so A-tier in 1 car, but D-tier in another similar sized car? I don't get it. Is that Bose's fault or Mazda's fault? Then if the Bose system blows, it's just that much harder to make it better thanks to weird speaker impedances.....
@@DailyMotorSound makes sense. CX-50 is a half-hearted attempt to beat Outback with a stretched CX-30 chassis and cheaper interior materials than CX-30 or 3. The sale has been abysmal so far

They did on my 21 blazer. Lots of features, rubbish sound. The basic system is horrible.

Lol yeah base is totally different from Bose. But the 3 Bose is by far the best in that class, so good call.
So Mazda's Bose systems are amazing for the price, and then their base systems suck. Seems to make sense.

The burmester is so rare in Panamera. I was looking at CarGurus’s listing and I only find one with that among a hundred and so listings.

Bad example. 2wd sedan isn't an suv. BMW saved money by not having that....apples and oranges.
So my choices are, good sound along with a rattling leaky sunroof vs a dry cabin, no rattle, decent sound.

Aftermarket powered sub, like a slim line JL audio. They can rip out that lame factory sub.

A little, but the cx-50 is on the noiser side, so not really. The road noise (wind and tires) fights your system.

They're cheap or don't care. Even their bose system in the CX-90 is not a performance bose system

Why is this rated lower than the 3 or CX-30’s 8 speaker base?
Price and also it was probably worse. The CX-50 Bose wasn't quite as strong as the 30 and 3 either

The cx-50 is a noiser car, so the base system , even the bose system don't cut it.
The sunroof makes a Bose equipped CX-50 a non starter. My experience tells me I won’t use a sunroof and it will eventually leak.
Wow total surprise Mazda
Sucks. The cx-50 is *significantly* noisier than the cx-5. so even the bose system is challenged by wind and tire noise.
