How to Setup Microphone on Windows 10 & Test Mic! (Easy Method)

My headset has a microphone, whenever i plug in the headset, the sound comes through the headset but the microphone isn't working, also whenever i go to sound settings the output device doesn't show my headset it only has 'Speakers (Realtek(R) Audio), same goes for my microphone, i only see 'Microphone (Realtek(R) Audio).

Because I had a problem where I had 2 mics connected and I set one to default but in some games it did not work.
What I did is to disable the mic I was not using.

If you have an xbox controller with an aux port, plug your headset into the controller. Make sure the controller is switched on, and connected to the pc - the headset and mic should connect straight to the pc :) This worked for me. God bless!

My problem is that when I go to the sound settings and try to choose a input device there is only one device. That is the built in microphone. It doesn't detect other microphones

I have the same problem; I'm wondering if it might just be that my laptop in particular is dated or other wise lousy. But even with a head set plugged in, it's exclusively locked to the default built in mic. I want to set up my voice in a way so they're just hear my voice and not my laptop's fan.

If your PC uses built-in mic instead of headset mic, search for Realtek Audio Console, and go to Device advanced settings. Under ANALOG, select Headset from the drop-down menu.
