I am in my 60s now. 30 years ago I would build PCs. Then it was FDisk and Format C: from a boot disk. When I sold them I always insisted on a Kosha copy of DOS, being included, which the customer had to pay for, and would get the licence. (I could not compete when crooks, copied DOS for free. Tut tut.) This is all new and I am glad to see MS have stopped rip offs. I am building my 1st PC again for my son as a games machine, and this is so inspirational. Many thanks. I do miss dropping to DOS for stuff though. I became an IT trainer in MS office advanced, now retired.
I've come back to this video so many times! Thank you for being so precise and to the point with the info an explanations. The best pc set up video on the internet.
Iam having so many problems with my new build 2200g 16gb vengence 3000mhz Asrock ab350 pro4 500 watt psu I cant download driver properly and iam getting like 5 fps in skyrim at low and at 800-600 res i have no idea what to do i have up todate windows 10
limbermanish xxsappersxx go to amd site and search for the correct drivers. Install them and restart. Then check if your RAM is overclocked in the bios
limbermanish xxsappersxx check out jays2cents channel about updating drivers. If i remember right, the drivers listed on the webpage is wrong and he had to dig for the correct drivers
limbermanish xxsappersxx only that ultra cheap AMD, VEGA 8 is not for games! just a low level GTX card, or a cheap Volta card if you can find them already... Next time read what you need, just do a basic ATX build on intel, if you became any pro in building rigs, go for the weird boards!
You need to do a fresh install of windows first bro, plus for that CPU since it has an integrated GPU in the CPU you gotta do some tweaking in the BIOS to make it run games well. Look up 2200g overclock or something and you should find some guides on youtube.
D Vargas i did a fresh install of windows 10 the cpu is stable amd i ran memtest the only thing i cant get to work is the graphics driver to install i have a yellow warning triangle on the vega i graphics
Paul, thanks a ton for making this video. I got my setup built, powered on and everything and of all the videos I've watched on the subject, not one besides this one mentions the hard drive setup.
Awesome video, building my first pc and had no problem putting it all together as getting it to run. Got to bios and just drew a blank. Seemed very informative and will have to watch a couple more times. Hopefully get this figured out now. Thanks
I’m sitting here screaming because you thought it would be a good idea to say to unzip files and fly through the process without explaining what that means or how to do it appreciate it
I was just scrolling through three comments to see otg anyone asked about that because I thought the exact same thing. I guess I thought it was harder then that. But all you do is open the file click on what you want to unzip and drag it to another folder. I think that's what her did.
Just watched this just to prepare myself on what I would be doing when I decide to build a gaming PC. If I had the time and money I would definitely build a gaming PC right now, but for now I would stick to consoles since it's cheaper and easier to use(for gaming).
No thank you. Ninite just installs everything, so if there is extra programs or crap you don't want installed, you are better off to install manually each program.
I would suggest anyone to use www.ninite.com when setting up a new PC. It automatically installs all the software you select without you having to spam next for half an hour 😁.
Crispay A-10 I know this comment is old but I'm buying my new pc next week and don't want to pay 100 for it so can I select don't want it and then when I set up my pc can I download a key but not activate it?
Harwf all you once you start installing windows 10 is just select I don’t have a product key and it works just fine but you can’t change your wallpaper on your pc until you buy it but your on a budget so no need to spend money on things that are priorities I haven’t bought windows 10 yet and I don’t know if I ever will it’s a waste of money to me

himanshu aggarwal you have a legacy bios and the one shown in the video is a UEFI bios
Cant agree more!
Just for those interested or don't know:
UEFI: Unified Extensible Firmware Interface
BIOS: Basic Input/Output System
Bios so simple and easy to remember why did they change the name?
Because it's not basic anymore
because UEFI expanded behond the basic input / output functions
Eye candy is why.. older Bios often had the exact same feature set and some had quite a bit more than normal. UEFI just added a mouse driven graphical interface over the top of the exact same functionality the BIOS already handled.
Because UEFI is not BIOS. It's a different firmware with different features & isn't necessarily backward-compatible with the BIOS

This is all new and I am glad to see MS have stopped rip offs. I am building my 1st PC again for my son as a games machine, and this is so inspirational. Many thanks. I do miss dropping to DOS for stuff though. I became an IT trainer in MS office advanced, now retired.
I just get stuck on a black screen.
Edit: I get stuck on the MSI screen because that is the motherboard I have.
Oof
This vid was very helpful after I realized that the usb drive with windows on it was in the wrong USB port. It’s a beast off a computer now.
Mr. Atooony anything I should be aware of when setting up my new pc?
@@eris3862 did you watch the video?
James he means like any simple mistakes to avoid like what happened with the dude that made the comment
Already have a pc running windows and playing games yet I’m still here
You're not alone

Fantastic as always Paul, just setting up my first ever build and this is perfect
What if I’m trying to watch this video on the new pc
Yeah it’s like those guides on how to fix your internet when if your internet was broken you couldn’t look at the guide.
Ryan Kim I’m sure you would have another device if you are rich enough to build your own pc
PieLover1572 no
PieLover1572 “rich enough to build your own pc” 😂 I created a budget pc that costs me $400 I’m just too poor to buy one pre- made
@Krioque ikr
Paul’s hardware on how to do software. 😂
building a PC in 2021 this weekend and this still seems extremely accurate and helpful. Thanks man.
As I said. I was gonna check it out :)
#twitter
So you did. Saw you on twitter before watching this, read your 3 comments and then headed to the video.
Oh cool. So you were also on twitter :) I use the same profile pic nearly everywhere
so all i have to do in the bios is make sure that everything is connected and the whole xmp stuff is optional?
Yep pretty much, i answered really fast too.
So just in time.
I've come back to this video so many times! Thank you for being so precise and to the point with the info an explanations. The best pc set up video on the internet.
No drivers show up when trying to install Windows. Also, when selecting a boot device my SATA device doesn’t exist.
@@itzdanielr5254 My hard drive was broken, I bought a new one.
@@itzdanielr5254 ik that this vid is hella old but im wondering if u have fixed this problem cause i just built my pc and i have the same issue
It would be cool to do a startup video for Linux as well! These videos are very well made and put together, would love to see a Linux version too!
Thanks, Paul. Your videos were my education on how to build my first PC. I'm writing to you from that PC right now!
Everyone: *FOCUSED AND USNTERSTANDS*
Me: *clueless* SOooo How do we do dis?.... dErp!
When I go to install it says my USB is there but when I click on it, it says “a media driver your computer needs is missing” help me please
vZyker did you find it out?
@@14Lupis well it was 10 months ago, I would hope so
Jonathan ya lmao
I came here just to be aware of what to do when my new pc arrives but I have to say, what a incredible video. Well done mate
windows installer tool keeps failing to install the program on my 32g formatted (twice now, manually formatted) drive.....halp
Same I have 16g
Did you ever fix this I think im having the same problem
Same here, how did you fix it??
Did all of this exactly and for some reason my PC keeps crashing with an error code of:
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
anyone know how to fix this?
Did you manage to fix it?

You saved me $200 to get someone to do this & alot of headaches. Thanks mate
Wow I thought the assembly part was intimidating. This is crazy over my head.
LMAO! "Edge has one use and that's to download chrome..."
Best video for post pc build setup for a complete beginner hands down! Thank you so much for this vid!!!!!!
Instructions unclear. Drank the water from my water cooling resivor.
Just kidding, great video, thank you!
'It has a single use, to install chrome.'
Me *ded*
Just exactly the channel that i need. Thanks man!
Paul- Microsoft Edge is only for installing chrome!
Microsoft Edge- Am i a joke to you?
Yes
Edge Chromium: Am I a joke to you?
can i use a chromebook to install windows onto the usb?
Jonathan Lizarraga good question, im not sure though. I am building a pc myself and have only chrome-books in my house.
MikeTheSurfer had the same problem lol. i luckily had a buddy of mine do it for me
Yeah you can im sure and if it really comes down ti it you just linux jailbreak it to get the windows install
Holy crap this video was awesome. I am learning so much from you and from Linus. You guys really make this PC world accessible to beginners like me.
If this doesnt work for people make sure to use a usb that can have 10.8 gb or more, since that is what it requires now :)
I tried using a 8gb usb but it sad that it didnt found any ssd or something. But are you sure it will help using a 10.8gb usb?
Iam having so many problems with my new build
2200g
16gb vengence 3000mhz
Asrock ab350 pro4
500 watt psu
I cant download driver properly and iam getting like 5 fps in skyrim at low and at 800-600 res i have no idea what to do i have up todate windows 10
limbermanish xxsappersxx go to amd site and search for the correct drivers. Install them and restart. Then check if your RAM is overclocked in the bios
limbermanish xxsappersxx check out jays2cents channel about updating drivers. If i remember right, the drivers listed on the webpage is wrong and he had to dig for the correct drivers
limbermanish xxsappersxx
only that ultra cheap AMD, VEGA 8 is not for games!
just a low level GTX card, or a cheap Volta card if you can find them already...
I got my setup built, powered on and everything and of all the videos I've watched on the subject, not one besides this one mentions the hard drive setup.
wow all of this stuff is way too complicated for me. i’m just gonna get a desktop
what do i do if it flashes the msi screen then goes to the select proper boot device screen

I should have bought a USB. I bought a CD without thinking about it and my drive bay is very old.
Tysm. I just finished building my pc and had no idea what to do. This helped me so much.
Who watched this with not even having a pc
Me I'm on my Mac :)
Paul I want a pc i play on Mac too 😢
Just watched this just to prepare myself on what I would be doing when I decide to build a gaming PC. If I had the time and money I would definitely build a gaming PC right now, but for now I would stick to consoles since it's cheaper and easier to use(for gaming).
Heaven2470 true I wish I could get a pc for my content to help my frames and everything and I can also run more games I hope I can get one soon
I’m waiting for mine to come in from lyte technology

today i was booting my pc for 1st time and watching this guide step by step ... really helped me ! thank you
Ninite dude...
No thank you. Ninite just installs everything, so if there is extra programs or crap you don't want installed, you are better off to install manually each program.
you get to pick and choose what gets installed. there are no extra programs.
**starts program instalation** "we recommend you try bing, chrome, etc..." **automatically installs that shit**
You were saying?
I’ve never had Ninite install something I didn’t select. Something smells fishy.
I always use ninite and have never had extra stuff installed.
8:00 Forbidden Sexy WiFi
hmmmmmmm...
Just what I needed to see before setting up my first build, thank you!
I would suggest anyone to use www.ninite.com when setting up a new PC. It automatically installs all the software you select without you having to spam next for half an hour 😁.
@Grayson Truax I don't know. Personally, I ended up installing all the stuff I need myself. I prefer it that way.
thanks but i knew windows from long time and i will stick to it i dont wanna mess with that thanks for the advice

I just bought all the parts for my first pic! I’ll use this once they all arrive! Appreciate the video!
Is it free?
JINX you can get the free version to get your pc going only difference is it isn’t as customizable
Crispay A-10 I know this comment is old but I'm buying my new pc next week and don't want to pay 100 for it so can I select don't want it and then when I set up my pc can I download a key but not activate it?
Harwf all you once you start installing windows 10 is just select I don’t have a product key and it works just fine but you can’t change your wallpaper on your pc until you buy it but your on a budget so no need to spend money on things that are priorities I haven’t bought windows 10 yet and I don’t know if I ever will it’s a waste of money to me
Harwf select i dont have a product key and then look up how to get rid of the water mark
