What's something you'd like me to answer in a more advanced OBS tutorial?
Maybe how to see what you are outputing without dropping any frames. Love the channel :)
Some scenes I don't want a transition on, is there a way to choose or does it just apply to all?
How to fix the black screen glitch
❤️❤️
How can i use your streamlabs rotating feed if my donations are set on streamlabs?
I'm only 20 and I feel like an internet granny when it comes to twitch
Me too bud, me too...
rodrick is 20 now, feel old yet?
Lol same
Mate, i'm 38.... the internet didn't exist in peoples houses when i was born. I'm just getting into streaming now so you'll be just fine!
How are you already 20 rod?
I am a lecturer and this current global pandemic situation has meant I have needed to switch to online teaching. I really wanted to ensure students continue to receive a high quality education (after all, it’s not cheap, right?). After much research, I realised the Live Streamers are the people who I need to learn from to create a better experience for my students. In particular, your tutorials and resources have been EXTREMELY useful. So thank you, on behalf of me and all my students, for allowing me to ‘up my game’. Heck, at this rate, and with my setup, I may as well go all in and start playing video games live too!....
damn 13 year old videos
good mate :)
Hey Johnny. Did you get your set up going? I would be interested to know how it is working out. I am a teacher as well. Thinking about the future if we are constantly going back and forth to remote learning. Cheers.
Now this is a good teacher
after selecting "display capture" my multi displays i.e, displays in displays aren't popping up. there's only single and its all black. what do I do?
You are such a huge help man I have been wanting to stream for years but was just nervous. Your advice makes things a lot less overwhelming. I appreciate all the hard work you put into your production, keep up the good work!
Out of all the obs videos for beginners, this has been the best one I’ve watched. Finally getting my pc built, and streaming on twitch, I needed to know how obs works. You explained it so well for me to understand
*FINALLY, Someone who ACTUALLY EXPLAINS How to Use this. Now I can Stream and see how this works.*
Hahaha right
My display wont show up :( and I dont know why
that happened to me too u have to change ur graphic settings
he never once explained where he got the white line border smh
This video is quite literally the pinnacle of support for beginners, praise
wish i knew about this before now i know about this and can create really good content just hope i dothe best
HOW you explained this was perfect. You included all the little details that most streamers already know and forget to include in videos for newbies. I appreciate the work you put into this! Thank you!
This is one of the most comprehensive and easy to follow videos ever for Twitch stream setup guide there is. You saved me hours of figuring it out on my own. Thanks!
It's not only difficult to find half-decent tutorials on streaming. It's nearly impossible to find a creator who doesn't bore you to death by the end of it. I always find these engaging, helpful and entertaining. It helps that you can tell he's genuinely excited to help out new streamers and teach them some tricks of the trade. Alpha is like what Peter McKinnon did for photography tutorials. Thanks man!
I know you mainly talk about how to improve as a streamer, but your stuff is also really helping in the UA-cam space, trying my hand at it, we’ll see how it goes
Casually Cal don’t give up man, keep trying
Casually Cal I’ll send a sub your way my guy, don’t give up
Yeah man, the only thing you absolutely need is to not give up, the gear will come with time, I believe in you, who else is getting on the ground floor with this guy?
Your stuff isn’t bad, keep it up, and keep learning and improving
I really appreciate you guys, your words mean a lot, thank you very mcuh
This is by far the most useful tutorial I have ever come across. Very good and straight to the point.
I've watched countless hours and videos about how to setup your OBS for streaming on twitch and whatnot and your video is the most high in detail, simplifying overcomplicated settings and tools while being able to deeply explain everything in full detail. Also showing what you use and where to get them is like icing on the cake. You're a true G and as soon as I wake up tmrw, hopefully, my next stream is gonna go from just a plain gameplay screen to a full out near professional stream, thank you
I know how all this works, yet, I'm watching it, just because it's so entertaining.
Whacky!!!
@LOKOGUYY _ people are selfish. They don't care about u
@@nadeemnajeeb7269 especially popular people

Dude, I'm studying a lot of OBS lately to start my Twitch, and hands down this was the best tutorial I've watched.
Please do more of these.
This was so perfect man it was literally everything I needed!
A friend of mine wanted to stream for 1 year by now but still hasn't started yet, I will totally recommend this to them! This is super helpful for setting up a stream of all kinds and it is quite hard finding a proper tutorial that actually helps with setting up a stream, thank you so much :D
This has been one of the best videos that I've discovered helping me take my stream from junk to slightly organized trash!
I just need to say one thing Harris, you are a shining light in the community of streamers. You, and a SMALL handful of others, go out of your way to assist people and welcome them into this space. I hope others will follow the example you have set.
My mates and I are soon to start up a gaming channel and me being the only techy one I needed to learn all there is to know about streaming and OBS in particular... your crash course is a time saver! Cheers mate! Brilliant content.
i opened obs for the first time tonight and was incredibly overwhelmed and had no idea where to start, but after watching this I am incredibly confident in my ability to get a basic stream going! Thank you for the guide, definitely subbed for more content and tips!
That “Now Playing” graphic is LEGIT. I would LOVE to have something like that in my stream!

An informative, ADHD-friendly video for my uninformed ADHD brain. Thanks fam
meds are so helpful for my adhd brain. but when they wear off his videos are amazing
I stand by that statement
I felt this haha
@@natthejellyfish thats nice, meds did not help me
Thank you for this! Really helpful to get started with OBS - taking all the gear I've acquired at your recommendation over the past couple of years and setting it all up to start my stream. You're a legend!
Appreciate your advice and taking the time to share this with everyone.
MOM GET THE CAMERA
Luv u harris
@Comedy Local Gaming haha- good luck
Great tutorial. I'd love a more advanced walk through, specifically when it comes to designing your own custom widgets for things like alerts.
Took a few hours of messing with things to make it how I like but I am officially setup and ready to stream!! Thank you so much!
I find your content to be super helpful. I like how you explain things + your voice is easy to listen to. Thanks for being here!
The timing is amazing... I literally did my first test stream yesterday to a couple of friends so I could start balancing my audio, and figuring out the basics... and you drop this today. I actually did a double-take when I saw this in my sub box, hahaha.
when you showed source grouping i swear i could hear the songs of the angels, so thanks for that!
OBS is fantastic and it helped A LOT in our remote teaching regime during C19 thing. We could stream from laboratory directly in a multicam set-up, without the need to prepare videos in advance, saving time on recording, editing and rendering. We fed 3 cams and screen capture in various scene configurations and used virtual cam as an input for MS Teams. Worked like a charm. 100% live interaction with students.
I'm looking to help my other half get set up on Twitch and offered to mod and set up the back end of stuff like this and was getting a bit lost. But this totally helped! My vague understanding is now a crisp vision of what needs to be done. Thank you so much!!!
Absolutely loved these tips. Even though I am using them, these are still great reminders. Would love a more advanced tutorial as well!
I'm getting into streaming on YT, in addition to my Let's Plays of single player story games. This is a great tutorial for everyone who's not familiar with OBS (like me). Thank you so much for your effort!
Absolutely flawless. Simple info Thankyou so much. Always enjoy watching , and your one of a few people that actually seem passionate about your chosen information that you share . I stumbled onto your channel and it is a first go to for me .
This is such a great video. Very well thought out and great, practical examples. It's super easy to follow along on our end to duplicate what you're doing, etc. Every video of this kind should be exactly like this! Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video and share it with us.
I very much appreciate your time and effort with all this. I have no idea what I'm doing but your help has been invaluable!
I want to start streaming and I can already tell that this is going to be extremely helpful!!! Thank you so much for making this video!
Very comprehensive video! I really enjoyed how clear you were in every topic and how you broke it down. Thank you for making this amazing video!
i literally started streaming a couple of days ago without having watched this first. Shame on me. Now I can make things even cleaner and be more confident about what I'm doing. Bless you Harris.
Hope your channel grows! I'm just for my equipment to arrive then doing my first ever stream!
I started streaming 2 days ago and watched some videos before i started. Its helped a lot and i had a stream with 10 viewers at one point last night. Such a great feeling!
@@creezin how is it going bro
@@danielagain5634 lmao was about to ask that
@@logan4410 you planning to start?
FINALLY! I’ve been waiting for this video for an eternity.
This helped me so much! I would love to see an advanced version of this!!
This is the best video I've seen on OBS...you make things clear that all the others assume or overlook. THANK YOU!
This was very useful. I’m a university professor and accountant. In responding to students and clients I’ve decided to embrace video content. Especially during these tough pandemic times of physical distancing. I’d like to learn more about setting up scenes and transitions. I realized quickly on that using the hot keys on my keyboard is a hot mess so I will be probably expensing a stream deck. For now the hot keys will have to work. I’d also like to learn how you quickly and seamlessly zoom into your face and back out and how to change the cursor on the display capture vice having the tiny arrow. Thanks for posting.
This was seriously so perfect, I’m trying to start streaming but I was so lost, thanks for the help fam
did you manage to stream at some point?
bro, you are one if not the best, at explaining what to do when it comes to setting up your stream, I can't thank u enough.
I can't thank you enough man. Watched like 10 videos and yours was the only one walking me through everything. Thanks, man.
Dude you’re a legend from guiding me through this
loved this vid it has helped me out as im starting out will be rewatching so i make sure i get it right for my first stream in a few days thank you so much
This is the most resourceful stream video I've seen to date. Amazing work Harris!
had my pc for 4 days trying to figure eveything out on my own going thru several peoples videos and yours is the only ones i understand they helped me out alot im not so stressed anymore thank you my friend suggested you watched several of your videos answering all my questions.
This was amazing. Getting my first stream ready, was super overwhelmed, but now I think I'm ready to go. Thanks dude
What a guy, I know how to stream now and actually make good content, ty Alpha Gaming!!!!
What amazing video this is. I can already tell I will watch this multiple times as a I would scroll through a textbook. 10/10 Much appreciated.
Just got a brand new pc and looked up for OBS settings and found you. This is great extremely helpful and simple perfectly explained too. Thank you for helping out the community! ❤
This is such a great tutorial for beginners man! I know I struggled a lot with this crap in the beginning (still do) 😂
Coming from a kid who wants to stream during break or during the summer, thank you so much
I've been struggling for age's to try and get streaming and this video has made me finally get everything sorted out and ready to stream my favourite games, amazing video :))
This video has been very helpful. The OBS software for a newbie can be very daunting to try and just figure it out on your own but your guide is very well made and easy to follow. I'd recommend this video to anyone coming in to learn how to get a beginners stream going. MUCH APPRECIATED!
I just started streaming on twitch this really help me a lot. Going to try this obs streaming now. Thank you!!
Rus... I am new to streaming also can you let me know how it's working out for you I will be on twitch too!
@@djmadlive it works awesome. Its free just follow his sets it works very good.
This video honestly explained so much! the only thing I'm still struggling with is how to add music because I'm on a MacBook and I don't know how to hook it up.
This is awesome! I am actually going to be doing my first test stream with my uncle this evening so this really helps to start understanding the system and execution of OBS
Always appreciate the content. I finally built a my own gaming pc for streaming (except a new GPU as we all know how that's going...) You've been an awesome inspiration and source of information on getting things going. Thanks for everything, and I look forward to all your future content!
For those of you who didn't know for switching scenes, if you don't have a streamdeck they actually have a phone app and only costs like 2 dollars a month and u can use it on your phones 😉
I sure wish OBS had an "Undo/Ctrl Z" option haha!
It's coming to the next OBS release! Version 27 I believe.
It does now
I has it now :)
@@MemerDad hey how can I stream my console using OBS studio?
@@angelaguilera600 Sorry, I don't have any idea.

Dope video bro! Greatly appreciated and wish you the best! Just got my first PC and you came in clutch with the simple and easy tutorial!
This was delivered really well for an absolute noob, feel like I have a good starting point, ty.
Foreal. It helped me get my stream set up so easily.
Would love to have "the next level" tutorial... to learn hot to automate scene switching, etc.
This was a fantastic guide my guy. Been really wanting to do this and follow through with it. Absolutely learned something from this
This was a super helpful tutorial. Not even just for streaming but for using OBS in general. I've used OBS for a bit now and don't believe how much I'd missed just from watching this video! Thanks for the help!
I’m 23 and I feel like a boomer with streaming ….now I can be more confident. Thanks for the tips
Dude thank you, when I tried obs by myself I named my scene minecraft and thought it would just show minecraft, this was a few years ago.
Great video showing the basics to get set up. Thanks for taking the time to do this...it seems trivial to some, but this is a great guide to getting started.
I've been watching tons of videos trying to make sense of all this and this is the first to make me feel like I really understood it. great work and thanks you!
Dude you save my life✌️ now i can start my Journey on youtube. 👑💖
This is nice to see, after a while. I'm moving from Streamlabs to OBS.
Edit: I started to make the switch after watching Nutty's videos about it, and I realized that regular OBS is just better, and it has more features, and *I think* uses less hardware.
TheLuckster why ? They’re essentially the same
@@simarbeer SLOBS is build on the OBS Core BUT there are a lot of differences. In short: OBS Studio has allways the newest features and has support for plugin and more indepth options, SLOBS has native Streamlabs integration and is much more straight foreward and easier to get into!
@@simarbeer maybe he faced something similar to me where i wasnt able to change the stream encoder. I had software x264 and hardware qsv, i switched to hardware qsv but when i start streaming, SLOBS always overrides tht setting and puts the encoder back to software x264 OBS on the other hand changes encoders with no problem. He prob facing the same thing, idk dou
How much more hardware intensive is streamlabs....
@@rosevolverid I didn't, I'm switching for plug-ins and things like that.
Thanks for the quick tutorial! I just started streaming two days ago using the Twitch Broadcasting Beta software. This seems a little less intimidating now and will be making the switch as soon as I am able to. Very much appreciated!
I have tried to find the right video to guide me through OBS but never have I found one that was this easy but also covered so much. I stumbled along in the darkness for a year before you brought me to the OBS light. Thank you!!! I am going to be coming here for all future needs, and I also love your beard and hair. :D
I neglected to mention that I"m not just using this to do my paranormal investigation analysis show, but to teach my University classes in World Literature. Hey, that is the one that pays the bills. ; )
Hey I think it would be cool if you did an updated version of this with all of the recent features that have come to OBS
I am SO glad this popped on my feed! I am not new to gaming as I am 48 and started out on the Atari system. I know to record and upload videos to my YT channel Mad Ferret Studios. I have used computers since the day they came out available for the public. But when it comes to using OBS for live streaming I am very much overwhelmed. I want to start live streaming now that our channel is slowly growing. And this is a whole new beast of an area. And I have to echo the sentiments of another commentary, I feel like a fricking non-tech savvy granny. Thank you for taking the time to walk us newborn noobs through. Looking forward to starting streaming soon!
man i just wanna say thank you haha, i downloaded obs and was figuring all of this out along the way as it is and had it working but my video quality was crap and i didn't know how to customize anything, i can't tell you how much all of this helped. thanks so much!
Hey dude! i know im a bit late, but how do i get it so that i can see my chat overlay while playing in full screen (single monitor)
@Luke Francis O' Meara yeah I figured it out dude thanks 🙏
I love how he puts a timestamp to skip the sponsor
That's why I watched the video every second with no skips
Dexterous A little show of respect and goodwill goes such a long way, on both sides.
Harris, you're awesome dude. I absolutely love you and your streambeats dude! Thanks for all these awesome videos you put out.
Best information, tips and tricks on streaming I have YET to find on UA-cam. Thanks man!
Bro this was so informative! What about a more in-depth "How-To" setting up an Elgato with a console to OBS specifically the audio lol
Agree, el gato audio is so confusing lol
I'd watch that one
Me: "Do u kno da wey"
Alpha Gaming: ..yes..
I'm VERY new to streaming of any kind and this was super Helpful and easy to understand for someone like me who knew very little about the OBS software and the daunting number of options.
Downloaded OBS for the first time today to set up a stream I have to do tomorrow, and the only reason I am sane and confident is this video. Everything is working fine, thank you so much for posting this guide!
‘So basically I don’t have to use an editing software to edit my vids’ ❤️
Ive been playing a bit around with OBS (Im just getting into streaming, im more interestes in just recording editing but i gave it a go).
I tried streamyard with fortnite and a webcam on me, it was unplayable, no rendering ingame. (I belive because i send to streamyard, it sends back to me and then to youtube)
Tryed the same woth OBS, much better results but when a few players interact on screen it goes to hell.
Again not padticulary interested in streaming fortnite but i was testong the limits
Tryed streaming Project Winter (far less PC power needed) everything went much better.
Anything software wise i can do to improve basic stream quality?
What platform do you use for editing recordings?
Excellent tutorial!! Articulate & paced really well. Great job!! Thanks!
This was GREAT Harris, It really helped me to set up OBS from scratch to a pretty stand out look
awesome tips ...there is a lag , a delay during my window capture . can u suggest some settings
What are you capturing in your window? If it’s a game, then window capture isn’t made for that, but if it is something else, then it is something wrong in your settings.
Sanders If it’s a game, how do you capture it?
Use streamlabs obs
@@idksom8928 streamlabs performance is horrible, if you have a bad pc use regular obs
I wish I had watched this prior to giving up and switching to streamlabs LOL
