  • Really tough couple days fishing from the rocks. Ended up at a beautiful spot catching some beautiful fish. Just goes to show that some days the fish aren't biting, but the next day it can be bites every cast. Finally got some really cool new caps, beanies and shirts coming up for sale so check out the website:
    www.fishermans... to see.
Also follow my Instagram to see stories of where I'm going, where I'm at, and more interesting things fishing:

Hopefully he didn't carry down his pole or any non essential gear when setting his shot up if he was smart about it. Regardless it is so exhausting doing this type of filming on your own! Been doing solo camp videos for two years now and it can really help when you're alone or it can be the biggest pain. Mostly depending on the terrain and weather.

PRO PRO TIP: aim your rod directly at your snagged hook and leave no slack in the line, (with your fingers) push down on your line between the first and second eyelets to create a good amount of tension and release it quickly, should loosen the hook from whatever your caught in

ur2.pl/2318 it came looking like it was way worth more than the price. Everything was packed so cleanly and still in the wrapping. The rod feels stirty even when I extended to its full length. The handle was solid and the extended handle was a nice touch. The reel is really clean, quiet, and it turn smoothly. It does feel a little heavy and it could be the reason why it felt solid. The one down side to the reel is the little polyurethane(not sure if it's made from it), nut get stuck when you remove the reel handle. The tackle, bait, and fishing line is a bonus for people who do not fish often.

Haha, you catching that slug made me nostalgic.
When I was a kid I went fishing for the first time with my Uncle Frank. I had a bad long day of catching nothing and breaking lines on rocks. All of a sudden, I got something! It felt heavy too!. Up comes a huge red-orange STARFISH. My Uncle let me pet it, was such a weird feeling. I'll never forget the sight and feel of that thing. It was beautiful. It was too bad they wouldn't let me take it home. I'm not sure why honestly, I don't think you aren't allowed to. Then again, maybe it was better off staying alive and enjoying the ocean :) Not like we would get any use out of it beside a souvenir.

Our traditional family knot - feed line through the loop twice. you then wrap 7 times + 1 "for the old timers who can't be here today due to various problems - most of them medical" as my granddad used to say. You then push it back through both holes and tighten w/ spit. The line will break before the knot will. It's very similar to the Berkley trilene knot but requires 2 extra wraps. My grandfather came up with that version of the knot many years ago and we have multiple family member with BASS trophies and have caught trophy fish all over the world with this knot. Everything from 2 pound cod to 54 pound king salmon.

At my favorite surf spot - also favorite fishing spot when it's flat or small - we get a cheap kettle grill from Ace and toss the legs and wheels in the recycling. We keep the kettle and grill at the surf spot hidden in a gap in a pile of rocks from the cliff deadfall and bring it to where we sit where the cliff bends around to form the point where we jump into the water between sets to save a long paddle-out. We bring burgers, dogs, and coals to make a day of it and then hide it again before we leave. By the end of the season the grill is literally dust and most often the kettle is under a few tons of boulders and dirt. So it's another $30 for an Ace Hardware knock-off of the standard Coleman kettle. But it's so worth every penny...
It's really nice to stand out on the point and have your pick of casting between 10-20-30-60+ foot deep holes. You can bring lures, bait, or scrape up limpets or mussels. It's a great spot with a very deep sandy bottom in the middle away from the reef so you get a lot of different stuff swimming in to feed/hide amongst the kelp. I know there's some abalone there but have never gone diving for any so don't know how rich. Once as I was walking out on the point to jump into the lineup, I saw some scumbag pouring bleach on the massive mussels clumps to make it easy to take them off the rocks. My bro and I "encouraged" that asshole to gather his gear, drop the mussels he already had in his buckets, and very quickly leave and never come back lest he become part of the reef.

Yep that’s fishing. When I pay a bunch of $ to charter a boat and a guide, I keep in mind that it’s a fifty fifty chance of catching a big game fish. My first time out I caught a 45 lb dorado & I was ecstatic! 30 min later I caught an 85 lb Sailfish. For me half the fun is getting out on the ocean , meeting interesting people & checking out a beautiful new location.Add a couple of beers & I’m set.
