  • Today I have a very doable jacket collar sewing tutorial for you. This NEAT & EASY technique could work for any jacket that has this type of collar and small lapel.... most typically found in denim jackets. You know you can make them in other wovens too. I hope this is helpful and motivates you to sew your first jacket, and if you have struggled before... no more :)
    Come and join me today!
Previous sewing tutorial on jacket collars is here: • Denim JACKET COLLAR se... Apart from the sewing, you'll get a lot of general information on types of collars and some patterns.
Patterns featured in this video that use this technique:

Augusta top & dress (Grainline Studio)
The mystery denim jacket from this video is coming to the channel soon!

Thank you Karina! I have saved this to my sewing technique file so it's easy to reference. I haven't done a collar without a collar stand yet but now I'm prepared. 💛

Hesitant about sewing anything with a collar execution (the dreaded lump). This technique, I can sew and have it look good. I understand the logic. Thank you for showing us a simpler way. Can finally move forward and try this collar style. The decision on interfacing (how much, type of fabric) was also valuable. Looking forward to more joy ❤️

I just love your hints and tricks Karina. I’ve only ever had the courage to sew a pyjama collar but now I feel confident to have a go at something more ambitious. X

Thank you so much for teaching this method. I have avoided lapel collars because I just could not get it right. This method gives me hope.

I found this tutorial so helpful, thankyou. I am looking to adapt a Burda pattern that I have already adjusted to fit me, but dislike the way the front band and collar are attached on the pattern. I am going to try adapting the pattern to reflect the steps you have shown. Many thanks again

Karina if pattern has the front facing not integrated, just a separate facing . Can I just add the separate facing piece to the front pieces ? Or will this mess up my collar pls ?
or better leave as is ? I am not an experienced sewist like you are however I love to try yr methods 😋. Thank you for simplifying and showing us great methods that encourages us to continue our hobby 😍

Great video, thanks for explaining it so clearly and for the encouragement! I wonder if there is a tutorial on how to draw a collar on paper. I have a re-cycled jacket where the collar needs replacement, it got stained and ripped so it was taken out, I got the jacket for free but don't know how to draw the shape on paper. I am better at sewing than drawing ! Thank you!

No, I don't have content on how to make small pattern pieces. There is no way I can demonstrate that for an already make jacket where the shape and size is unknown. It's not a rectangle and each pattern has a collar in a unique shape that matches that specific neckline.
