You had me as soon as you said (and clearly explained why) you can cut the binding piece on the grain. I love how you show how to add the placket + cuff to a basic sleeve pattern too. Thank you!
Hi Karina, You always make me feel like an accomplished seamstress. Thank you so much for providing us your wonderful tutorials. Every time am trying to figure out how to sew something in the simplest way, I always think, "what would Karina do?" You are amazing!
Karina I truly love your videos. As I've said before I save them all for future reference. I have learned so much from you and you have the ability to explain that my elderly brain gets. As always, thank you
I used this tutorial to sew a cuff for another pattern and it was so helpful! I had removed my first try (that I did without the tutorial) and found this tutorial so very helpful!
Thank you so much for this, Karina! I lost my sewjo a year or so ago, right before I was supposed to install the bound sleeveplacket on my Alma blouse. I just came back to sewing a few days ago, and this video helped me get my sleeves sewn, and they look pretty fantastic! Thanks again for so generously sharing your expertise with us!
Karina, you know I think your sewing tips are fabulous! They really are. Length and depth. (Long). As someone who speaks multiple languages, I understand sometimes we... misplace a word. 😆 Thank you again.
Even native speakers don’t speak perfectly. I do my best but I’m not perfect… that’s why I make graphics and use text also. I don’t see why you had to point that out here 🤷🏻♀️. Grammar policing is a thing and I’m particularly sensitive to it as someone who is going online, putting myself out there 🥲 and making a big effort to be helpful.
Joni hand ….Yr remark is really not relevant and very rude of you to comment this way . Karina speaks fluently and explains very well plus adding great graphics and she is well appreciated !
Your Patina blouse is a favorite of mine. This kind of video helps me so much, with your clear instructions, I’ve gained confidence and I’m able to sew much more.
Thank you Karina, it’s fabulous that you take the time put up these videos, you definitely make my sewing much more enjoyable, I follow your advice step by step. 💖
Thank you Karinaaaa💕💕💕 Love this simple one. Thanks for the many example on many fabric, esp those light tricky ones, the contrast adds beautiful touch. I've made the double placket complicated one for my husband's shirt, totally worth it, because that's for him. For me, I prefer the simple ones like this. Love it love it love it💕
I like this simple technique for plackets. Haven’t made a shirt yet. I just tried this method on a top that needed more ease around the hips and it worked! I also have a top with a high neckline that bugs me. Going to open it up. I assume a bigger v cut (stay stitched) will work? The neckline already has a bias binding. Going back pre-Karina to try and salvage some of my earlier attempts. A big thank you to your late aunt. We wouldn’t be learning from you if it hadn’t been for her.
Thank you Karina. I’m in the middle of making a shirt style blouse for myself so I’ll be using this tutorial as a reference. So happy that it’s coincided with my current make. 🤓🏴
This is a great technique and frankly in no way infer to the more laborious method used I’m menswear. Certainly, it is preferable for very lightweight fabrics. Thanks for the excellent demonstration.
It looks so simple and perhaps I would have better luck with an adult shirt. I am doing a child’s dress white shirt with only a 3 inch slash and no matter how I try I only get puckers or holes. I enjoy and learn from your videos.
Thanks for this video. I just did my first sleeve placket and it turned out well! I was wondering if at some point you could do a video covering how you hide the seam allowances when you turn the cuff to the inside. The part that makes the square edge of the cuff. I always find it hard to hide that part with hand sewing or machine stitching. It always sticks out through the seam. I'm not sure if I'm explaining it well though.
Right. I’m going to do it. I recently made knit dresses for my granddaughters. They don’t live close enough to try them on but should be down here before June. I’m almost sure they’re not going to be able to get them over their heads. Family failing 🫤. I’ve been debating how to open up the neckband and neatly add extra space. Think you’ve given me the courage to cut. Many thanks.

With every one of your videos I feel like I am becoming a better sewist. Thank you! These instructions were so clear and easy to understand!
I could not figure out a continuous lap from the Vogue pattern I am using. Your instructions were so good! You are an excellent teacher!

Excellent, clear instructions, as usual, Karina. You are such a great teacher! Thank you. 👍💕
I was looking for something more delicate for my Aria sleeve. Thank you for this video!

You inspire confidence because this is scary ❤️
This is so useful, Karina. I have a blouse in the wardrobe I rarely wear because it has elastic to gather in the sleeves.
Excellent tutorial, thanks 😊

I finally got it to work by using bias cut strips! Yeah!
