I dropped my cylinder mower reels in to Trent at Central Coast Cylinder Mowers for a spin grind and relief grind. They sure came up a treat!

Brilliant and very informative to know about Trent’s Company offering these services - something the local mower retailer would not be able to do.
Thanks, It really is hard to find a good cylinder mower grinding company
Trent is a great guy and really helpful. Glad I got to see this video.
I will need my new Allett Stirling reel touched up soon as it’s not true from the factory. One blade is bigger than the rest and hits the bed knife whilst the others don’t.
Yeah he is a really DTE kinda guy and takes great pride in his work. Sorry to hear your new Allett mower reel isn't true and needs a bit of Trent's Magic
Trent really knows his stuff. If ever I get a cylinder mower, his company would be the one I'd use to sharpen it.
Great to see a craftsman at work.
Absolutely mate Trent is extremely thorough and a top bloke 😎
Looks like you picked the right guy for the job. It was very interesting watching how they made that man that dull blade turn razor sharp
Yeah I think I did too Richard, So keen for the first mow with it
Great to see the work involved in sharpening cylinder reels thanks for sharing
Most welcome Paul
Good information vid on the back end of our game - well done 👍
Here’s 3x things us nuts love in the lawn game…. Lush green stripes 😊, then scalping it down to dirt 🤪, and the crisp sound of the reel cutting paper 🤩
How good is that paper cut 😎
Great video as always mate. So many satisfying things to see, that paper cut was perfection 👌
Yeah I agree mate you cant beat the end result when the paper cuts sharply and evenly
Fascinating stuff, can't wait to watch your opion on quality of cut.
I think its going to be outstanding.
I will probably wait until i do a scalp before I use it but I'm very excited to see how the lawn comes up when its being cut with the 3250
Excellent video M8
Thanks for showing a really detailed vid on cylinder reel sharpening.
Very interesting , never got to do this type of work as a fitter machinist years ago.
Very precise 👌
Yeah its pretty amazing I think, , Hows things up your way?
@@theaussielawn just finished my zoysia lawn reno today at 7pm
Just got to set up some caution tape to keep the posty off and some stinky fertiliser to keep the kids tonka trucks off.
Weather has been mint up north QLD mate.
Not so good for the family around camden region south of you guys.
Hopefully 🤞 a dry summer for NSW

That video is brilliant. I have always wondered how machine sharpening was done. Thank you.
No worries mate, Yeah there is so much set up before the action starts its amazing
That was just slightly different to what I used to do with my little Flymo push reel mower! I've always been interested in how greenkeepers achieve their magic, be it by machinery or magic potions that work overnight. They couldn't do it without a specialist like that to maintain their gear. Thanks for the education.
So cool to see a professional at work he knows what hes doing and they came up mint
Yeah I reckon mate, I cannot wait to get a mow in with them once this rainy weekend passes
Can't wait to see how it cuts now.
Me too but Im too scared now ill hit a rock or something from the road 😬😬😬🤦♂😂😎
Great to have a peak behind the curtain
Yeah it’s pretty sweet hey
So cool! thanks for making this video. I love seeing this kind of stuff. I need to find a local person to grind my mowers this winter.
Great to see how it’s done!
Yeah I was always keen to shoot a vid on how a reel is ground Im glad its been so well received
Awesome vid mate-again so good to see the process of something that I’ve always been fascinated about
I enjoyed editing that vid it was such a great day I'm glad the process came through clearly in the vid
Great to see how much goes into grinding reels.
Yeah there is way more that goes on behind the scenes than you would think
And the Aussie Lawn blokes Toro thinks. “Gee, whenI grow up I want to be like the big feller on the lift”
I know right haha how cool was that mower 😎
That was really cool!
Thanks mate I'm glad you enjoyed it
Awesome
Cheers mate, Hope you are having a good weekend
Love it
Thanks mate Its a pretty sweet process hey
Great video mate!
Thanks Bryce
Work of art.
Did you think just for a second to get a seat of one of the ones out side lol
Yeah haha I did and a radiator screen too 😝
Great video. So good to see the behind the scenes work. 12mm, what's that crap??!! 🤭
I know right haha I felt violated 😂😂😂😂 but seriously though 12mm might do me this season esp if we keep getting rained out and I cant get any sand to top dress
@@theaussielawn 12mm might be a pleasant change for you. I keep mine at 12mm and find the colour great. Just need to watch out for the thatch beast, but who am I to tell the master 😂
@@markkearns6231 yeah I’m good with 12 but would like to be able to go lower for height resets
How bloody awesome are those lipped bottom blades. I’ve got them on my mowers here at home ❤❤
Yeah they are pretty sweet hey
@@theaussielawn yeah less chances of picking up rocks in the reel I’ve found. More likely to push them down under the blade
Nice mate
Thanks Andy 😎
Great video, didn't know this guy even existed? How did you come across him? What suburb is he in? I have been sending all my cylinder mower customers down to Sydney to get their reals serviced. Will start sending him some work.
Hey Jason
Im located at magenta on the central coast.
Happy for you to come down and we can help you out! Thanks Trent
@@trentdeaves2282 Hey Trent, i own The Lawn Doctor 2 U and we provide professional Greenkeeping Services on the Central Coast. I am in Wadalba. We dont mow,we do spraying, fertilising, aeration, topdressing, drainage, ect but have lots real mower customers who always ask me where they can get their mowers worked on. I send them to GYC in Hornsby. Happy to send them your way. How long you been on the Coast doing this? My son was the 3ic at Koonidah, but now works for me full time. I know Magenta well. I have done a bit of work in the estate over the years.
Hey mate hows things, Yeah I have a mate on the Coast who recommended him to me and I must say Im glad he did
So question - Do you need to rotate the location of each reel periodically to ensure even wearing?
Na mate you don't need to swap reels around, any irregularities are sorted out with the Foley grinding machine.
Great stuff - does he do Allett 17" removable reels?
Absolutely He can yes, But he will need the complete mower (I just checked with Trent)
@@theaussielawn damn thanks for checking, I’m south of Wollongong so hard to do
Hey mate have you got a number for central coast cylinders as I don’t have any social media. Cheers.
I would rather not post his contact number up on this forum out of respect to Trent but if you shoot me an email I can do it that way . You can find a link to my email address on my main UA-cam home page 😎
