The chokehold that butyloctyl salicylate has on almost ALL of these “”mineral”” sunscreens 💀

From a formulation perspective, it’s one of those necessary factors to consider to attain higher SPFs while maintaining some level of elegance. There are other (costlier) options, but especially when it comes to bumping SPF without using 25% zinc, or using titanium dioxide which easily boosts the SPF value but gives an even whiter, opaque sunscreen, you have to consider why it’s used
Yay for more mineral options! Chemical sunscreen breaks me out so I unfortunately have to stick to mineral. I have a skin tone similar to you and the only good option I’ve found is the Live Tinted one but its only SPF 30
Thank you for posting! I saw this new on the prequel website and, being a tan person myself, my first thought was to check if you had uploaded anything about this sunscreen!
That's why the anti-sunscreen conspiracy theorists exist. I buy a very high quality SPF 50 from Aldi (German budget supermarket) it's Cruelty Free and fragrance free, 6 euros for a huge bottle!
I just tried this for the first time and I'm honestly really impressed with the formula. I am WHITE, so the slight peachy tint is perfect for me. I'm 33, and I also have acne prone, dry skin and I find this blends into almost a satin matte finish on my skin. I layer it over the Prequel gel moisturizer and they play beautifully together. So far highly recommend!
I get that making a sunscreen, especially as an independent brand, is ridiculously expensive, *but * I really wish this came in a larger size. 😔 It doesn’t seem to match the brand’s MO, either.
I enjoy this new sunscreen quite a bit and love that it contains iron oxides. It did not pill for me so if it does that for you, that may be because of the other products you wear underneath. I also make sure my vitamin C and moisturizer are fully set/dry before applying a very generous amount of sunscreen to my face, neck, chest, hands, and forearms. 👍 👏 😊
I think that FDA does not require manufacturers to say if it is nano or non-nano. All they say maximum of mineral filters 25 % in formula. In Europe they need to be more precise. Large non-nano particles produce classic white cast.
I have tan skin and loved it. I have oily skin and it did give me a shine but it wasn’t as bad as most sunscreens do. It went really nice over my makeup and I really liked it.
@GlowByRamón Just found your channel and love your 4B assessment! This was informative and both scientific and relatable for non-scientists while keeping the video short enough to watch the whole thing. Thank you for being honest that you know Dr. Ellis. @DrSamEllis this sounds like an amazing product that will work for most skin tones. As a Bay Area native, I’m excited to see you launch this, can’t wait to try it, and only wish I was closer to your office.
I really like the prequel moisturizer, the cleanser is ok but not anything special imo, I liked the ointment but again wasn’t special I like the vitamin c but I like a vitamin c that has more

What do you mean by ‘more’ in regards to the vitamin C?
apparently a lot or most MICA is not sustainably sourced and can give delusions of skin looking nice but its not actually like that. that's the reasons I have heard@
Mica is normally used to brighten ? Like a highlight

Due to those concerns, brands try their best to ensure they’re sourcing mica from ethical manufacturers. Also worth noting is that the mica used in this is most like an interference pigment, where mica is the substrate and coated with titanium and iron oxides to help neutralize and even the complexion. One thing to remember is a cosmetic is just that: something that makes the superficial appearance of the skin look better. A lot of products utilize functional fillers and interference pigments to give an immediately improved appearance to the skin is people want ‘instant’ improvement to their skin when using products. In the case of this specific product too, the interference pigment also lends itself to the ‘camouflage’ of the standard white cast of mineral sunscreens without he coverage imparted with high % of iron oxides
Glad you’re back to posting sunscreen reviews. No one does them like you. You eat this up, love!
Thank you so much 🥹🥹🥹 I’m sorry it’s taken me forever to get back into it, but I truthfully have so many reviews and so much more content coming up!
Highest quality skincare channel I follow by a landslide. Your reviews are so thorough and the editing is amazing always! 💖
I agree 💯💯💯💯
I hope Dr Sam brings these products to Europe soon 🥲
Yes hopefully soon 🇬🇧
I too hope that deeper tones are released. I'm too high on the Fitzpatrick to even consider this SPF
I just bought the Beauty of J sunscreen stick you developed! Great matte look and easy glide like you said! Will enjoy this product!!
Ramon: "This does leave a glow"
Me (super oily face): automatically uninterested 😅

@GlowByRamon Why don't they just use Octisalate and call it a day? At least there is safety data for that

I love Simon, he gives me so much emotion and love of cosmetics like me❤

OMG PERF TIMING! i just ordered hehe
I swear these sunscreen bottles are getting smaller and smaller. The cost per use doesn’t add up to me, but I’m glad you liked it!

Tiny bottles of sunscreen just make little sense to me on all levels!
It looks beautiful on you! I ordered it today and am excited to try it out. 😊 Thanks for the thorough, thoughtful review!
You’re the best! Very informative. Great teacher.

This sunscreen was horrible on my skin! Left a crazy residue, sticky, and pilled
Same here, horrible

youi make me questiion my sexuality..good work!
Can you please do a review on her vitamin C
I wish there wasn’t MICA in it. 😭😭
Why
apparently a lot or most MICA is not sustainably sourced and can give delusions of skin looking nice but its not actually like that. that's the reasons I have heard@
@it gives a gray shade

I need the whole line in Malaysia!!!!
What is the most matte sunscreen you've tried?
💙💙💙
👍👍👍
This sunscreen pilled like crazy for me immediately. It probably didn't work with my skincare.
We need bigger bottles of sunscreen and not with a price hike. It's so bizarre something we need so much of comes in expensive micro bottles 😑
It looks way too shiny and greasy for oily skin, so no, thank you! 😓
he talks too fast
You can adjust the UA-cam playback speed to meet your needs
