I dont mind it being remade it cant tarnish the original.
Fooly Cooly was perfect. A new season or a new series needs to be as complex and unexplainable as the original, have the music of The Pillows, and have that amazing energy and flow. The story leads lots of possibilities. We could cover Naota's brother, older Naota, his freinds, Haruko, etc. I don't think a remake or new series can ruin such a perfect show. The worst than can happen is that we all ignore it after wasting a bit of time.
Yes! I agree so much! the ending was way to abrupt and kinda made me sad... BUT ANYWAY I agree totally!
+Douglas Paulson i agree, FLCL is a marvel acheivement in anime. Id love to see a remake or continuation. Eitherway, like you said, its needs to be as genious and perplexing as the original, which was so ahead of its time anyway.......a hyper- salvadore dali esque masterpeice.
Make it a film. That's it. Just one film. Fix some minor pacing issues and update the animation. Don't fuck this up, IG. I'm counting on you.

So, FLCL is basically what happened when the studio had leftover money from the budget from Outlaw Star. So there wasn't really a point, so much as "fuck it, lets make some cool stuff."
To me, it was actually a fantasy in a young boy's mind...something he imagined to make up for his boring life in a small town. The manga actually had a different ending more to this effect, so that could be a cool way to go with it.

Remake no. Best way to do something new with this is have an all new cast and have the same crazy shit happen. Then have the original members show up, now in more mature ages, and help out the noobs.
Haven't watched the video before posting this. No it's not being remade, Toonami is teaming up with Production I.G. to make two new seasons. That is all I have to say.
i think that i can be really well done, especially if they turn it into a sort of "soft anthology" wherein Haruko travels to different dimensions or to other planets and interact with other people and themes. they don't even have to focus on puberty, they can tackle anything from marriage to making friends, to dealing with loss, and as long as they handle it with is much style and creatively as the original FLCL (and with as many monsters, and robots) it will be good.
Wtf? I literally just watched this whole OVA today and just finished it, and I find this video which came out yesterday.
FLCL is my favorite anime of all time, i'm curious to see how they would remake it but i'm not excited at all. I just hope they don't fuck it all up and ruin it all. Why fix something that was never broken in the first place.
I'd say let it happen if they're honestly interested in re-making it. Odds are though the original will still be my favorite. It came during a formative period of my life, and just on music alone give me alot of happiness every time i watch it.
FLCL is my all time favourite anime series and, as much as I'd love to see those awesome designs and animation techniques again, I don't like this new wave of remakes, it's easier to drop out of the original concepts
This video -it's pretty disheartening. I'm skeptical of remakes as much as the next guy, especially when it's based off something so perfect, and iconic -but it feels like Dave and Mark weren't ever actually into FLCL.
I'll admit I'm biased, as FLCL is one of my top 3 favorite animes of all time, but from an objective standpoint -the stories of puberty (especially considering the anime manga demographic) could be told well into adulthood if done properly, by good writers.
I think what they failed to specifically hit on is, if the series is a rehash of the same stories, it's not worthwhile, plain and simple (if that's what they were saying, I didn't hear it).
I loved the original. I'd love a longer Fl Cl so much. Do it. Do it yesterday.

I love flcl. I saw it first when I was 12 and have been obsessed ever since. I've seen each episode probably a couple hundred times. I think it would be awesome if they expanded on the story, but will be very disappointed if they just remake the original six episodes. honestly, it's so great, so weird and random I don't think remaking it will do any good. I think it would just be a disappointment like most remakes.
The only way I see this being worth it is if they expand upon it. Not change things, add to them. Maybe a 12 episode series. Because it isn't like it needs remade for its animation. The show holds up. So a simple expansion is enough for me.
Remake? Tha fuck! It's animation still holds up today and its fine the way it is...
Flcl is life please don't ruin this it's the only reason I watched anime this and ghost in she'll were my cherry poppers ahh nerve wracking

Is there even a fan base? What the fuck! Everyone with good anime taste comes to an agreement that FLCL is one of the greatest animes of all time. Its in a class of its own with humor and "multi-media" collage style anime. Definitly ahead of its time with style, and the most artistic and sureal and instense fighting....and such a good story, like you said, coming of age, lost between lovers, balance of feelings, and knowing your strengths and who you are....very emotional anime.........not superficial in anyway
I want to see an FLCL2 where Naoto has gone from the transition into puberty, into a twenty or thirtysomething in a regular relationship, on the precipice of starting a family, or just still wrestling with what being an adult means, only to have Haruko come back and more insane hijinks to occur.

I don't think that it should be remake but rather a sequel continuing from the end of the original series explaining what Fooly cooly is, have the pirate king arc actually finished ( I get that each episode was standalone but the pirate king was the sub plot). Personally it's one of my favourite animes and I'd rather have them continue it

They should have bought the rights to the creator's other work "Earth Invader Girl Q" instead!
no on a remake. season 2 yes definitely. I'd love to see new episodes.
I feel like this is the anime equivilent to trying to remake Final Fantasy 7

If i die an old man, I will have died a happy anime fan if they left FLCL alone. It was perfect for that era in anime growth.. That said, I usually try and watch anything Production I.G. does.. So this does seem a little fun. I hope they leave the original 6 episodes as history. And pick up somewhere down the line.

also the anime left the theme a little more ambiguous then the manga and for that reason I prefer the anime.
so if the new anime flat-out sates the theme than it wont be as good.
NO! It's PERFECT as it is. A reboot, perhaps but not a remake. This could end up really bad.

The FLCL remake will be just like the Robocop remake: Good on it's own and completely watchable, but pointless because it doesn't do anything the original didn't do and in fact does some things worse.

continuation or side story is fine but a remake is honestly just following the reboot trend as you guys pointed out and really feels like just an excuse to jump in on a safe beloved franchise... i mean it may well be good but why rehash what was already don so well...

it makes no sense as in the same time... it does. its hard tp explain. its like the word "common sense". it makes no sense,because two people lives are not truly common. the anime is funny and cool. puberty can be assest with it,so can other things. its still good though. enjoy for what you can see in it.
