Judging by the poses Ikemoto chooses for cover pages and the way he draws eyes and lips, I feel like he really wishes he was drawing a JoJo sequel instead of a Naruto sequel.
Not so hot take: Instead of cyborgs, they should've stayed with the "puppet" concept and go from there, that way they can still "innovate" but stay true to the aesthetics and baselines in-universe. Sasori and Pain's Ashura Path are really good examples of that, because early in Shippuden they introduced the idea of human puppets and Pain expanded on that with a puppet-like living body that combines flesh and bone with mechanical weapons
Yes! Puppets! It was right there! The jump to cyborgs... I see it as the influence of the modern age. A negative one. Everyone's jumps from constant smartphone companionship to sci-fi bullshit because we're surrounded by it, and writers let that influence their writing.
Question: Is she a ninja? I feel like she was never a ninja. I mean, she uses being a cyborg with alien tech and traits, so she IS more a Jojo character than a ninja.
@Bezaliel13 From my understanding, no. She basically has otherworldly charisma that draws people to her (kind of like Miquella from Elden Ring), but she at least knows taijutsu. So, even tho she isn't a ninja, she can still fight. Even if she couldn't fight, her style is so different from the standard fashion trends in Naruto
@@viviwithav Even without the rather obvious theme of "heroes triumph with hard work while villains relied too much on powers" to muddy the antagonists needing practical clothes, *why would Eida dress to fight?* Sure, "her style is so different from the standard fashion trends in Naruto," but that does not address the alien-tech cyborg "needing" to dress in what would be practical for a ninja. I mean, what good are pockets when the tools are in their bodies, like Delta?
@@Bezaliel13 True, but you could also argue there's a way of dressing impractically without breaking from Naruto's aesthetic. Sarada's manga outfit is dumb, but it's very loosely operating within the fashion of Naruto
I just hate how everyone in Boruto now has the same style (those annoying belts/high heels), while in classic Naruto, their outfit choices reflected their personalities. For instance, Ino who wore her headband around her waist, indicating that she pays a lot of attention to her figure, probably being on a diet.
That's not true, the reflection of their personalities are there you just aren't seeing them. Take ChoCho's design in both the manga and the anime. Cho Cho herself is not as self loathing about her weight as her dad was in his youth. In the manga she wears bright pink and yellow expressing her femininity. And her outfit is adorned with butterflies which shows her pride as a member of the akimichi clan. In the Anime her color scheme becomes white and yellow which shows her pride this time to her mother, as those are the common colors of the cloud village from where her mother is from. Each outfit gives a look into ChoCho's character. It's not just her, take Both of Inojin's outfits showing his love for art and or appreciation for his father, while also having the violet hue of his mother.
lol what. Y'know just on the designing process that's literally a required thing right? Like, no designer ever goes "hey let's NOT reflect any personality in this character design" This is such a stupid take. Or maybe you forgot the part when _Kishimoto_ designed Sarada, he gave her glasses to portray her as a straight forward character that takes things a bit too seriously and is strict on herself and others. Or maybe you missed how Chocho is designed to look like a gyaru and has a touch of Sukeban to show how she cares for her appearances, but also has the spirit to fight for what she believes in. Or that Inojin sported an artsy look in his early years since he favored his dad's jutsu compared to his mother's clan - however he still wears purple to proudly show that fact. Or that Kawaki is meant to look like a rebel wayward gangster with his bleached hair, ripped clothes, tattoos, and piercings. Or that Himawari keeps a balance of cute and cool with her simple shirt, baggy pants and belt (that she didn't use to wear bc she was just a child before, but since she trained a lot with chocho, she also picked up fashion. And considering she doesn't have a mom for her teen years, makes sense.) Heck, Shikadai clearly shows his lazier side by just wearing a jacket over a plain tee. And then when he turned genin, he opted a simple beige top to reflect his father. Or that there's this thing called TRENDS?? Maybe you missed it: but Naruto and Naruto shipudden also has characters who showcased their fashion statement even in a war torn world. Their ninja outfits were _uniforms_ that they occasionally alter to fit their tastes. And now they're allowed their children to further explore that. Or maybe you just _DON'T_ want to look and think?
If Boruto was about Naruto's grandson then I would not have the feeling of "why?" that I inherently have for the series. It feels like all we went through was almost for nothing and it's too early for all that's happening to go down because the time of peace was never really achieved.
No, you wouldn't, your issues wouldn't be solved by making Boruto Naruto's grandson. You'd just bitch about Naruto being washed up, the world of Naruto still having conflict or whatever nonsense you decide to cherry pick.
@@IronSavior239nah, it would be understandable that Naruto would be washed if he is in fact a living old man, this Naruto is like 32 which means he is in his prime so is Sasuke, if they want to down grade a character they should have done it in a better way. The annoying thing is that the anachronistic designs and world CAN work but not like this. For example in Gintama the characters are living in the Edo period but they can take a spaceship to go to Mars, and there are two reasons for that. The logical one is that the aliens who occupied the Earth brought their technology with them, the real one is that Gintama is a gag anime and nothing is meant to be taken seriously while watching it. In Boruto's designs things don't develop from other things, they just emerge. There is no development period, or cultural background and it is jarring.
I mean i think there was an insane economic boom after the ninja war because peacetimes allowed trade between all villages and for people to relax and focus on things like fashion and clothing stores ect. I also just dont like the coloring of the anime, the manga coloring makes those characters look great the anime looks off idk but the anime is filler trash Manga is pretty good
@@reddboytv1332 i mean the original naruto had tvs and basic computers so it just became wide spread with growth after peace. Also alot of it is due to specifically a couple scientist and also orochimaru
Anachonistic? Naruto literally wears a jumpsuit. Naruto largely features relevant technology from the late 90s and early 2000s, you know, when the manga was created. The design choices for Boruto's characters reflect the times as well.
i'll be the first to say it, i do NOT like how Ikemoto draws young girls, extremely curvy and plump, accentuate lips and doe eyes, revealing clothes and heels.. nah this is weird they look kids who got into their older sisters closets
I completely agree. Those kinds of physical traits work for some characters, certainly, particularly characters who are meant to be seductive, flirty, or traditionally feminine. But NONE of the girls in Boruto have such a personality, and more importantly, they are MINORS. Seeing literal children drawn in such a way gives me so much ick
As much as I love Jojo, it feels very bizarre (not intentional), that a lot of poses and dare i say facial structure of Boruto's art seems to be morphing into Jojo. The very outlandish fashion choices don't seem to help either.
I totally agree, but also I think that's the problem. Jojo is Araki's fashion show with a borderline crazy story and amazing drawings. Boruto should have been a sequel to Naruto, but visually it looks like everything but that. These super-fashion designs don't stick with it

Don't diss kingdom hearts like that. At least they're cool and all have the same aesthetic and design all around. While boruto is all over the place with no standard style.
Eida's design has issues, but Daemon's is everything wrong with her design with none of what works. He's this mess of bright, clashing colors and bizarre clothing decisions, and coupled with his obnoxious personality and how he was introduced into the story as being the new power cap next to Eida, he's like Scrappy Doo if Scrappy Doo was legitimately as bad as people think he was.
@MOMO-m0m0 Did you forget that electricity, computers, and tvs 📺, obviously the ninjas in the universe, don't want phones or long-range telecom devices because it would invalidate a large portion of there bag. @@MOMO-m0m0 They were using ear pieces and cable tv in Naruto, even in the og series. They even had street lights. Who said you can't have modern ninjas? Things evolve
Naruto is one of theose worlds that was in this weird place between 1980s - 1990s tech. They had earpiece radios, but not necessarily ham radios. They also had movie theatres and simple tv sets, but most people didn't have them. Their time period was very strange in terms of tech, but it was very clear there was no internet or satilites, or cars. Then the end of Naruto showed Naruto (no hokage) typing away on a Windows 2000 lap top. It was just so weird and strange and absolutely bonkers. And now we have scroll USB sticks, fully fleshed out internet with 3DS's and online gaming.
I think the flak jackets actually make a ton of sense-Naruto may be a world without guns, but it does have tons and tons of explosives and explosions. Flak jackets, as the name suggests, are meant to protect against shrapnel wounds from fragmentation explosives, not gunfire. If I lived in Naruto-world I'd totally want a flak jacket to avoid getting pincushioned by shards of kunai given how often they toss around those explosive tag things. This is the most minor nitpick, by the way. I totally agree that Shippuden-era Naruto and Boruto's character designs were ass, though I do have a soft spot for Sasuke's gay pirate (tone: affectionate) outfit.
@@jenkings0367 Basically half of the cool shit in Naruto can be boiled down to "that never happened again after Kakashi v. Zabuza." I have a huge soft spot for the series because I was obsessed with it as a kid and it was my gateway into fanfic, but the Land of Waves arc was the first and last time (outside of anime-only filler) that they got hired to do actual ninja stuff. After that every single mission they went on was just advancing the "main questline"-go do ninja exams, go get Tsunade back, go get Sasuke back, go save Gaara, go get Sasuke back, etc... etc... There was so much cool worldbuilding at the beginning! Having special-ops ninjas whose job it was to retrieve the corpses of ninjas who died or fled so that they couldn't be used to reverse-engineer secret ninja-techniques, the fact that the villain was just a mafia boss with a squad of hired goons and assassins instead of some enemy super-ninja, the stuff about Haku getting run out because people were afraid of ninjas with special abilities, that was all cool as hell! I sort of wish that Naruto had been more of a procedural drama where it focused on them getting hired to do missions like espionage, theft, assassination-y'know, ninja stuff-and the "main plot" development was a slow burn in the background.
People criticize Legend of Korra's advancement in technology when I feel like there it's a lot more believable because it's set 60 years after the original, and a lot of the 'tech' in Korra is still controlled by bending.
The original Avatar series was even established to have gotten decently far into industrialization, so Korra having tech roughly on the level of the early 1900's feels very natural to me.
One thing I have to give ALOK is how well the timeskip was handled. Things changed, drastically, but it was always clear that it was too fast, too abrupt and society wasnt coping with it. It made such a sudden shift feel a lot more real. Boruto pulls out a lightsaber and doesn't even bother to handwaive the implications.
It doesn't matter if it is believable or not, that is not the problem. The problem is introducing this garbage in the first place, the technology in avatar ruined the eastern mysticism and the technology in Boruto ruined the ninja ascetics, there is a reason guns aren't used in Harry Potter, because certain things just doesn't belong in certain types of places.
I will never forgive kishimoto for ruining sarada's potential like thats sasukes kid an uchiha and they disrespected her by making her into a cringe side love interest Edit : everyone in the comments can cry harder. Also this manga is trash

Boruto pretty much turned the entire world of Naruto into a modern day snooze fest, its boring as hell with all its technology, robots and silly Aliens. @@xioic Maybe not every kid, but you'd have to have half a brain missing if you don't see the sexualization of the female children. Mini skirts/dresses that barely cover their bottoms, tops that have zero coverage above the chest, high heels that are only meant for mature woman. Full lips and lashes that are artistically drawn in a way that is seen as more mature. That last one can be achieved without making the child look mature because that's usually used to MAKE them look more childlike, yet it somehow managed to fail that completely. And if you don't see that, then you probably shouldn't be under a video that talks about fashion and stylistic choices since you don't seem to understand it in the first place.
One of the reasons I loved Naruto as a kid was because I remember reading in one of the qna segments in one of the earlier books, someone asked Kishimoto what time period Naruto was set in and he basically said 'idk, some point before the invention of guns' and I thought that was cool because it made the series feel more separate from the other manga running in Jump at the time which were set in a more modern or pseudo-modern time. I fell off the series once the Pain path that was essentially an android got introduced, because it felt lame. I came back to check out Boruto when it released, and the sudden modernization felt disappointing, especially because they don't really address the impact that would have on a society centered around warfare. It feels like they should have just made Boruto an Edens Zero situation, where everyone resembles previous characters, but it's completely unrelated plot wise.
Judging how kishimoto is good at making political system, geopolitics struggle between villages, and villains with understandable political motive, I kinda hope that kishi will start writing an adult targeted story about politics
Kishimoto never said that. Maybe someone lied but Kishomoto never said Naruto was set in a period before guns. He said there isn't s specific period Naruto is set in but he intentionally set Naruto in a world where ninja and technology coexist to a certain extent. We saw this by the fact that in the Chunin exams and other missions, they were literally using radio. What Kishimoto said about guns is that he won't introduce guns because they would mess up the series (but it didn't). It's not Kishimoto's fault you were operating in nostalgia. Ur comment proves that And they DID talk about the ramifictions of rapid improving technology and how it would affect the world; in the manga and especially the light novels. The Kakashi light novel literally had a whole arc dedicated to the worries even Naruto had about the advancement of technology
Tbh.. I don't mind if it was naruto grandkids, or heck some unknown shinobi unrelated to the main cast of Naruto.. I mean, something like ATLA, into Korra.. The same universe, but the main character is not related at all and there's explanation on the world growth.. Boruto just felt so sudden..
@@mawandembatha6622 Looking into it, it seems like it was an interview in Shounen Jump over The Art of Naruto: Uzumaki Book that came out in 1999. I couldn't find the exact volume because all the links online are now dead, but a scantalation I found was translated as thus: - Do you have any rules about what is definitely not allowed to be drawn in the "Naruto" world? K: Firstly, projectile weapons such as guns aren't allowed. (The one exception is Inari's bowgun.) Guns aren't suited to ninja. Gunpowder is used in the anime, though I don't think it should be there. And, vehicles such as aeroplanes are not allowed. I try to restrain technology that can be used for war... For example, if missiles were in it, it'd be the end. (laughs) There's also an image of page 115 of that artbook that apparently had the same interview in the original Japanese that machine translates to "It's probably not a time too different from today" and then a similar quote to the one above. Now, obviously this was later retconned, but that was what was said. I suppose my child self didn't read the first part and just assumed that a lack of guns could only mean that the time period was before guns, rather than Kishimoto just actively choosing not to draw it. That was my fault, but that doesn't change my ultimate point about how the setting of OG Naruto was unique and that, in a war-based society like Naruto's, the explicit limitations on modern tools of war was notable and had an affect upon me as a reader. So later, when that was changed, it felt like the series itself had turned into something less engaging, leading me to drop it. Also, to address your other point, I do know that the manga talks about it, they just don't talk about it to a degree I personally feel is appropriate for how major of a change it would be. I haven't read the Kakashi light novel, and I don't think I should have to. Light novels are ultimately supplementary material, I don't feel like they should be used as a substitute for addressing a major change in setting that affects the whole story. And if it does cover such key information, it should've been adapted to the anime, like they did with Sasuke Retsuden.

They only added her to the manga as a cameo to go “Not everything in the Boruto anime is filler” and then only proceeded to use her for one thing so far.
I feel like the crux of the issue really is *the worldbuilding* , which started with Shippuden. From what I understand, the original run of the series stated outright that the Shinobi , and by extension the clans, were a just a small part of a MUCH larger world, doing jobs for clients that are important to their continued survival. But then we jump into Shippuden & Boruto and suddenly what we see is what we get as far as the world is concerned. It would make *total sense* if for Boruto's time period, a period of relative peace, the larger world started to bleed into the one we're familiar with from the original series both technologically and culturally. Mirroring Japan's RAPID industrialisation and progress even. Which, honestly, could EASILY be a theme for a storyline in of itself.
@@AlertchaseIt was canon. It was used in an arc where the villain, Ao tries to use it against Boruto but because the chakra saber is in beta, Ao didn’t know about the drawback of the rapid chakra drain and loses the upper hand in battle or something like that All of this to say is that yeah, there are some insane technological developments, but each are coming with their own established drawbacks that get/are getting explained later in the series
One of the biggest parts of Eida's character is that no one can harm her, so for her to have an outfit that's very impractical to fight in is actually a very good design decision, although it could be a bit more impractical. The cosmic theming is also good because it ties into that power as well. I have nothing to say to defend Code though, even if I really like his design.
The thing about Code is that he is an adult. Yeah. As for Sumire, if I recall correctly, her lame schoolgirl uniform is her first appearance, then she goes evil for a couple of episodes and shows that she's kind of cool actually, then she's defeated after unleashing a chakra-eating monster on the village and goes to the outfit with the black shorts and does... nothing for the rest of the series.
A small correction Flak jackets protect against explosive fragments they aren't bulletproof. So they do kinda make sense in the Naruto universe. About boruto, yes agree it's almost unwatchable because of the aesthetics.
Naruto handled technology pretty well. There was always some sort of (primitive) tech gadgets existing in the universe which never looked conflicting. All Boruto does is "gadget-ify" what was in Naruto (there is legit a ninja scroll turned pen drive in the show) and make it stand out and just look like a huge mess. The only thing that was somewhat likeable about this whole trope was the Ao arc and how this retired shinobi interacted with the new advancements.
A primitive chakra canon that can destroy the moon? A primitive fridge? Microwave? Head phones Radio Tv? Bro it isn't primitive, it wasn't just the norm unlike boruto, but guess what that's what 15 years of peace gets you Stop pretending like technological advancements happen every 100 years

In all fairness, Sumire and Eida are not fighters. Eida has the undying love and loyalty of 99.99999999999% whoever lays eyes on her. Even people who know they are being affected by this ability cant act against her without having an aneurysm. For the uber tiny number of people who dont fall in love with her, Damon fights them. They dont have to worry about heels in combat because they dont do combat. As for Sarada... i got nothin. Ikemoto glams the girls up too much. But if we want to into the discussion of unrealistic footwear, these people go into world war wearing open toed sandals
I understand the impracticality of the design's critique but the Sarada time skip design (and more worryingly her pre time skip design) goes beyond that conversation and lands in the imperative need to check on Ikemoto's hard drive. He should retire and dedicate himself to drawing henta1 cuz that's the only thing consistent about Boruto as a series, the fetishistic way female characters are drawn
Even then kishimoto has drawn better fetishistic characters compared ikemoto. Anko and Tsunade just looked like they belonged in a hentai and I'm not complaining.
Sarada's anime design is the only outfit in my opinion that follows the philosophy of previous designs. Like shes the only one who actually looks geared towards combat Iffy on the hair tho. The way it's depicted sometimes feels like it lacks so much information as well as looks to bean shaped if that makes sense
I remember being so dissapointed when I first saw Sarada's time skip outfit (even though I already didn't care about Boruto anymore at that time). All the way back when the Momoshiki fight happened I was so hyped that I drew a time skip outfit for her. 13 year old me tried really hard to match the artstyle and aesthetic and then she looked like a vough model post time skip (still proud of the idea of making the design a mix of Tsunade and Madara).
I will say three things about the video, 1. I agree that the female designs are extremely oversexualized and largely don't fit the aestheic of Naruto, your breakdown of Sumire was awesome. 2. You have the ages of some of these characters very wrong, Code is 21-22 in Two Blue Vortex, Delta (the blonde one you showed) is 24 years old in part one. Calling them teens doesn't quite fit. 3. Eida is dressed like a model yes, and it would be quite bad to fight in, but Eida is a non-combatant she doesn't fight at all, her ability makes it so people have no desire to fight her as well. Otherwise solid points
That kind of development is not unheard of in the real world you know. Fast technological advancements happen all the time and it happens the fastest during and right after large wars. You need to read more about history.
Soultaker78 is correct read up on real world history after world war two or before it we where in the industrial era from making skyscrapers to dams to advance weapons to the rocket that literally after a decade or two after world war two that took man to the moon, too the first color TV I think either the 50s or 60s so it's safe to say that advancements of technology in such a short span of time is feasible and can be achieved
I think a lot of your points are accurate except for one being the advancement of technology. By the way I am so glad someone mentioned the pencil skirt thing for young girls in Boruto, it’s so creepy when you notice all of the adults woman where anything but long skirts. Naruto in part one had freezers for milk and ice cream, Radios and Movies in colors, we couldn’t even get that last one till the 70s and they have their in hd! In the course of 20 years since the year 2000, we made high pressure water canon that cut like a light saber, the internet, escaped bad internet, made robots, made Ai who now steal art unfortunately and created medicine that numbs any bad thoughts. Boruto takes place 15-16 years in the future, they could totally reach that technology advancement that we have when they have jutsu that can bring back the dead and teleport. Though this doesn’t fix any of boruto designs problems just a cute thought I had. As for favorite design it would be early series Delta cause as I really like her fluffy nimbus like hair, color scheme that doesn’t make me vomit like most of boruto cast and she looks like an adult woman who very confident in her looks…. And then the series would de age her every appearance she got in the manga.
Well thats kinda cap ikemoto draws inspiration from kpop idols and various other things to replicate that image and ofc grown women aren’t wearing those lmao
I was thinking, the presence of chakra could have the opposite effect on technology. Because they have superpowers thanks to chakra, they don’t need to advance in technology. For example, they don’t need stoves because they can just use a small fire jutsu to start up a fire for cooking whenever they need. In the age of Madara and Hashirama, 80 years before the start of Naruto, it was basically Sengoku period. That’s the Middle Ages. 😅 In Naruto, we see many peasants dressed in traditional peasant garb, doing traditional farming work… with ploughs… bull-drawn ploughs, probably. Sure, the average citizen has light bulbs… But other than that, it was just Orochimaru’s labs that had stuff like janky computers and DNA tests. I guess, since Orochimaru turned good, he started cooperating with society to bring technology to everyone…? The public’s adoption speed is too quick, though…
Yeah the tech part is the only thing I'll disagree with as well. I lived the 90s and it was a very different time than it was in the 2010s. Tech jumped leaps and bounds when the internet became reliable and faster allowing for the sharing of knowledge at near instant speeds. The tech jumps, while it seems jarring, is believable especially if the world was just a lynch pin invention away from an explosive growth in tech.
But it’s strange that “what’s fashionable” changed so much from the original manga…. Like, I would say that in the original, we had Shippuden Ino, the Misukage, and Kurenai as good examples of fashionable women.
@@anastasiya256 , there is a moment where Eida is shopping. She is the only one who has this "futuristic" taste, because everyone around in the village is still casual. I can be wrong tho

15:30 in real life however the 2 world wars saw massive leaps in technological advancements as more and more killing and life saving needed to happen over the course of a few short years, Naruto however has it's big war happen over the span of 2 days with next to no technological issues, rather to solve it's issues it introduced gods and aliens from outer space that simply got dragged over to boruto.
The reason why Eida and Sumire don't really have practical/ battle ready outfits is because they're not fighters. Eida has two powers and one of them is that the second you lay your eyes on her and you fall in love with her to the point where you can't hurt her and time skip Sumire is basically tech support so she stays in the village and isn't a fighter which is why she got rid of the thigh pouch, she doesn't need it. Sarada tho I totally get she is a straight-up fighter and her outfit may be very stylish it's not very practical. They could have kept the stylish outfits while having practical outfits by just having two different designs like they did with Naruto at the end of Shippuden. Post-war and the last Naruto movie Naruto had two outfits of village outfit which was a white T-shirt with orange hoodie gray sweatpants and flipflop looking sandles and it was a very relaxed look. Then he had his mission outfit which was a lot more practical with the normal Shinobi sandals with a really thick soles and is basically just a color swap version of his boruto design. Also the technological advances weren't ikimoto's choice that was actually something made by kishimoto as kishimoto loves sci-fi and his other series samurai #8 that was a very sci-fi stooped world was canceled he just kind of brought that to boruto.
Just because she's tech, doesn't mean she should get rid of her fighter tools. Most of Yamanaka clan was on tech, Inoichi was in charge about those but he still dressed to fight.
My jaw literally dropped. I've been seeing the characters around, and I always thought "oh interesting, so many new anime coming out", but to find that Eida and Code are from Boruto.... I feel the show itself has lost too much of its original identity that had already started unravelling during Naruto Shippuden. I don't mind Boruto trying to carve out its own path but I feel as though they should then have widened the gap between the end of Naruto Shippuden and the beginning of Boruto waaay more. Like, Naruto should have been a grandpa or something😂😂
There are some misunderstandings. Delta is a robot. Kashin Koji is a cybernetically enhanced clone of Jiraiya. Daemon, Eida, Code, and Kawaki are all cyborgs (not robots). So, they're humans... But their bodies have been significantly modified by technology. I respect constructive critique but this video falls short. You make it evident you have a limited understanding of what you're talking about. You haven't made an effort to finish Shippuden, nevermind reading the supporting material (i.e, canon novels covering the 15 year blank period). I worry you didn't even read the Boruto manga... Next, have you considered that the designs consistently change between generations? Hashirama, Tobirama, Hiruzen, and Madara were all alive close to the warring states period. Their combat attire is more akin to armour, and many shinobi of their time carried swords. It was demonstrative of their lives being a near-constant state of war. It likely wasn't since the establishment of villages that their work became more covert, and less innately, life threatening (with finding cats now being "ninja work"). Hence, the attire changed. It wasn't necessarily just about surviving anymore. And though uncertain, peaceful periods existed. Boruto's era is mostly peaceful (within the 5 great nations). As such, the shinobi don't look, or at times, feel the part- the 5 kage of the time discuss the matter. Naruto has faith they can pass on the meaning of being shinobi. Sasuke, in novels and anime, conveys his belief that the greatest shinobi moving forward, will be those that stay true to tradition (i.e, honing techniques, skills, and training), while understanding and applying science/technology, in a way that supplements their capabilities- as opposed to being a stand in. But seriously, fair credit is never really given in the video. Konohamaru, Kakashi, and even Yamato all had designs that felt expectable of a Naruto sequel. Even Naruto and Sasuke's adult designs were agreeable. In all honesty, Sasuke actually captured the feel of being a fragment of a lost era. They represent the darkness the current peace was built on as well as the traditions and convictions associated with real ninja. Also, be fair in understanding that Kishimoto discouraged Ikimoto from following his style and designs too closely. It's not necessarily all Ikimoto's fault. Lastly, tf you mean Kashin Koji's design doesn't fit Naruto? It was one of the few Kara designs that felt like it adequately captured the mix of time periods. Like low-key, I think there's point to make, but this video just isn't it 😭

He never even wore what can be considered proper ninja attire. Even Sakura and Sasuke's attire was more ninja appropriate. Naruto jist rocked a tracksuit and people didn't complain, not realising that tracksuits are NOT a normal ninja thing Now they are suprised shit changes over 15 years
5:37 I’m gonna be that guy. Flak jackets aren’t bullet proof vests, they are designed for explosive shrapnel, so it makes a lot of sense considering how much explosives are in Naruto.
In defence of Eidas high heels, she's not a fighter, neither is Sumire if we're being honest. While Code is a fighter he technically isn't a Ninja, nor is Kawaki... Fun Fact I guess, Naruto was originally meant to be more cyberpunk inspired, Kishimoto took a lot of inspiration from Akira in the early drafts of Naruto and I think you can see this in how he designs Konoha and it's industrialisation, we see lots of pipes and vents mixed with building designs somewhat rooted in classic Japanese architecture (usually with a lot of creative liberties). We see the sci-fi influence in its entirety when we see the village hidden in the rain.
@@anastasiya256 It harkens to industrialisation which is heavily emphasised in sci-fi genres like cyberpunk and real world examples like the walled city of Kowloon. Sumire decided to stop fighting and go down a scientist path, and Eida is there for her clairvoyance and does everything through conversation, she uses her little brother's power to keep her safe. So there are so many better choices to go after when talking function in a fight.
Reading Boruto as an adult man, I was definitely looking to be taken back to the sense of coolness and adventure that Naruto gave me as a teenager. I ducking love Boruto’s post-timeskip design because that edgy-cool look is exactly how I wanted to dress as a 15-16yo. I think that a lot of the character designs are there to be cool to kids: People are more fashion conscious than ever from a younger age and I think that’s what is coming out in the designs. It’s important to have characters who can be tough, hardened killers, and who also want to dress nicely and be pretty outside of that. But I think Boruto’s wasted that potential in its current state.
Honestly Boruto feels more like completely different manga instead of next naruto series, I understand that he wanted to go out of big shadow, but then make your own scifi manga instead of running another
Yea, never watched this show and would be super interested in it. Let me say I LOVE the designs (probably a minority), but if you told me this was Naruto... no way.
Naruto had playstation like game consoles and mini mics and ear pieces. That's when I figured there was high tech. I recall a quote from the creator saying he seperated them from tech on purpose
I stopped watching Boruto after a couple dozen episodes. First of all, it was so boring. Second, it just sounds like it's become a huge mess. They're beating a dead horse imo
To play devil's advocate, neither Sumire nor Eida are fighters, if I remember correctly. Also, the era is more peaceful than naruto's time so it makes sense that fashion has evolved to be not just for combat. Now, Sarada's heels are inexcusable, yeah
You do know The point of sumire is kinda the fact that now, in their world of peace, ppl aren't all fighters she specifically chose to move toward science stuff. Its a similar thing with eida she dosesnt rly ever do much fighting cuz she doesn't need to her whole main power is that anyone who comes in contact with her is like instantly infatuated with her so why would she need to be dressed that way especially when she has what is essentially a body gaurd in her brother daemon even tho she dosent rly need it that much. Now when it comes to sarada tho she is like pretty under dressed especially in her part one design
A friend of mine put it really well once: Boruto looks like a wannabe copy of JoJo's. Although, I would rather say that it looks like a crossover fanfiction between Naruto and JoJo's. That would also explain the poses of female characters on chapter covers and even some volume covers that just don't fit into Naruto, but are something you would rather expect from JoJo's.
eida is not a robot. cyborg just means they were genetically augmented, which is something that orochimaru did in og naruto all the time, it’s not futuristic
for me it's less about the technological advancement and more about how they are designed. In Boruto a lot of the technologies look way too sleek and modern. They feel out of place. Which is kinda disappointing because Konoha being a huge, busy place where people come from all over should be an excuse to bring out more fantastical, rough around the edges, East Asian-based steampunk design or something. Hell, go retro futurism with a Japanese flair for all I care. Just make it messier. It's a fantasy ninja manga. You're expected to do that
I know it's not steampunk, but that's the closest thing I can describe the aesthetic as. When you watch Naruto, I don't think "1980" is the first time period to come to mind with all the ninja weapons and more traditional architecture
@@losj3020 1980 is where everything is based on. Its even stated as such. The villages are based on more rural places on japan which is why radios and TVs still exist in the verse
Eida isn’t a fighter so her outfit makes perfect sense. She has a ridiculous omnipotence ability where she basically can see everybody and knows everything that’s going on. So basically she just sits around comfortably while feeding her Allie’s information And also, tsumurei is in the same boat, she’s not really much of a fighter. Not actually sure what she does atm? Lastly I don’t think pointing to female characters in og naruto is a good point, the boruto manga and light novels have objectively written women better and given them significantly more importance and relevance. Himawari is a great example, Sakura has thankfully finally actually gotten so much more redemption (mostly in the light novels that take place after shippuden atm.) I would just read (not watch read) boruto and then make another video abt it talking abt your perspective as someone who’s actually read it.
Writing this comment right at the beginning of the Eida section: “this is clothing you could never wear into a fight.” She has literally never gotten into a physical altercation and has never been shown to have physical fighting skills. She currently has one technique that has two variations, one being passive and the other being reality warping. She doesn’t need to wear her outfit into a fight at least from what we have seen.
Second example is Sumire: Also in the research department for Konoha, I’m not looking up the actual name, but she’s essentially a lab assistant, not a physical assistant her primary purpose.
Sarada actually would have been a good example of a physical fighter wearing impractical clothing but you didn’t have a section for her which is weird. Third example: Code. His outfit is weird but also reflects his personality well because he has an inferiority complex from being a failed vessel for Isshiki and having his “will and goals” imposed on him. He’s trying to live up to that ideal by looking cool and edgy and when teens trying and look cool and edgy they normally end up dressing stupid most of the time. We have all been there. The tech elements mostly came from Kishimoto wanting to move on and do more sci-fi manga. That’s why he went on to Make Samurai 8 but he was pulled back into the Naruto universe because it has been popular and is the big money maker. I don’t begrudge him for including the stuff he actually wanted to write about in his manga has was essentially strong armed into continuing.
thing is it would be fine if the world building is consistent, we rarely see NON NINJA characters in main cast, we always meddle with the combatans. So assuming you are a ninja, at the very least you gonna do ninja things & summoned up in battlefield even as assistant/researcher. what weird is with all that technology none of them directed to fashion canonly? the militant look still the same the bandages still the same & kinda defeat the points of ninja, they are not there to show off they dress humble because they always on mission
About just character design aesthetic between older characters and new ones: it can be explained by distinct fashion of different generations within the world, fashion would change overtime. Also designs made by the mangaka is a reflection of the times in our world, just looking at the magenta palette of Boruto you get the feel it's of this time period, while Ikemoto is the one drawing it, the designs are what the publishing company and him think would appeal the modern audience. Btw all this is being said by someone who isn't a fan of Boruto or the art style XD
It seems very strange to me to have an opinion on the character designs and aesthetic of series when u haven't watched/read even half of the prequel and non of boruto or boruto tbv or any of the light novels or movie sequels that provide alot of the explanations and relevant background to what your criticizing. The designs in boruto are urban and completely different from the designs and aesthetic of naruto because that is quite literally the POINT. That is not accidental. Boruto is a series that takes place in a time of peace for the first time in the history of the naruto verse. So of course in an industrial and technological revolution where characters rather than coming up with creative ways to kill each other are all working together for the advancement of the world, the technology, and the new culture which had their ground works set up in naruto shippuden and naruto the last. It is now given a chance to thrive. The characters dont dress or act like "ninja" because what it means to be a ninja has completely evolved which is reflected in every aspect of the world building. Ninjas are no longer child soilders brought up in a cruel world for the sake of murdering people for the benefit of feudal lords rather they are trained and brought up to positively benefit society being able to not only actullay enjoy a childhood but also learning the techniques of their forefathers the maintain the legacy of their predecessors. In regards to the technology we already had things like aliens, robots, human and animal cloning, rockets, advanced medical technology, fire arms, advance machinery and etc... in naruto shipuuden so ofc during the industrial revolution of the series all of that would be exacerbated. Boruto is about a unified advanced world going up against an external extra terrestrial threat which again was set up at the end of shippuden and in naruto the last. Whether you like it or not ofc is up to you and ur own opinion. I personally dont love or hate boruto but this analysis imo lacks A LOT of relevant nuance which is very apparent as someone who is completely caught up in the story. No hate intended at all ofc just my own perspective on this think piece.
The main problem with Boruto is Shounen Jump. Naruto is too good for just ending it. So they come up with the idea of Boruto haphazardly. As a result it’s world building and everything is just mediocre compared to Naruto. Even Boruto's obsession of becoming someone like Sasuke is baseless and outright cringe. Sasuke became who he is today mainly because of his brother and Naruto. He had a character development. But for boruto it just feels like he is causing trouble for everyone. And also he is very disrespectful towards Naruto at the beginning. Even though Naruto is a hokage he tried to be there for his family as much as he could. But boruto is just annoying as hell at the beginning. As if he wanted attention or something.
wtf? have you even bothered the read the manga because everything you said is absolutely not true and he has plenty of character development. good mindless hate.
I hope you read these and take it as constructive criticism because theres a a big difference between having legitimate constructive criticism and just misrepresenting a series by doing the bare minimum amount of research, its fine that you didnt want to watch a 293 episode show if your not interested in it but it would be wise to at least do the research on the specific areas you want to comment on. 6:20- 7:20 Thats not how Technological progression works, its not solely linear and does not advance at the same rate every time, the jump in technology between the end of the 19th century and the start of 20th century was larger than the jump between 12th and 16th century, ontop of that your presumptions on how advanced naruto's world was prior to boruto is just straight up wrong, electricity , radio and even televisions are existed as far back as the first 20 chapters of naruto, in fact the bio engineering found in naruto outclasses what we can do in our own world, and thats within the village not outside of it. 7:20 - 9:54 1. Eida is not a shinobi, she isnt even a fighter, the series emphasizes that she doesnt enjoy fighting and will avoid it if she can. 2. Eida is not a robot she is a cyborg, cyborgs are by definition humans who have been augmented. 9:55-: 12:43 Sumire is not a shinobi, she is part of the scientific team who spends most her days doing research and being behind a computer, she had a short period of time where she was a shinobi and her attire reflected that static.wikia.nocookie.net/naruto/images/8/83/Team_15.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/1200?cb=20180314100503
There's already enough negativity about the Boruto series and I'll admit that I fell off the Naruto bandwagon midway through the War arc when it just kept dragging on past the Sasuke vs Danzo fight. And I haven't even watched Boruto myself, I've just been exposed to the entire story so far in bits and pieces by various forms of social media. Since there's already enough negativity around Boruto, I'll try to find something nice to say. Ikemoto is doing something right with his character designs no matter what the general population has to say because the show is still generating conversations. Characters are next to nothing without their design, only hard carried further by good character writing. Ikemoto has character design down. Not their fashion sense but how a character portrays themselves. Boruto looks just like a cocky, confident, wet-behind-the-ears, underdog teenage protagonist should look like. Even without his fashion, the way his movements and expressions are drawn shows a lot of his intended character arc. Also I just really like how Ikemoto draws his eyes. Whether it be conniving evil dudes like Momoshiki, stoic and emotionally bereft like Sasuke, tired but happy like Naruto, or cute and gorgeous like almost 100% of the female characters in the anime. Every gosh darn eye looks just fitting.
I'm not going to pretend that Daemon has a good design or that Sarada and Chocho didn't look inappropriate in part 1. I hate the high heels and the full lips (though they're only prominent on the covers). But man do I disagree. Momoshiki and Ishiki look incredibly good in the Manga. Same goes for Naruto, Sasuke, Sai, Kashin Koji, the Kara Members and so on. When people criticise the character designs its always the same few characters. Daemon, Eida and Sarada. This vid also includes Sumire. "How can they fight with these clothes?". Well, Eida and Sumire are not fighters. And Sarada got a well deserved backlash. Thats it, its really not a big deal. Codes design is also fine. I don't enjoy his new design, but its not bad. I urge people to read the Manga. Do not watch the Anime. If you watch the Anime, of course you're not going to like the designs, because the anime is a bad adaptation. Just compare Jigens/Ishikis Anime and Manga versions. Its also the Animes fault that it gives everything a chromatic futuristic look. For example, the Manga depicts the place in which ten tails is held as a dirty, scratchy stone structure whilst the Anime has it as a futuristic chrome structure with glowing lights. Let me lie, but computers and stuff have lots of cables powering them in the Manga, just like in Naruto Classic and Shippuden. But yeah, sure, we now also got USB Ninja scroll sticks. They're silly, its not that tragic.
technological advancement is due to one character plus the advancement of technology in the span of 15 years can be drastic, just 15 years ago you couldn’t imagine calling someone on a phone and seeing them while calling them
I actually think the technology boom in Boruto is handled pretty well. It doesn't come out of nowhere but is the result of alot of effort on the part of the adults
Very interesting pov. Like most of the stuff I’ve seen is praising TBV’s character designs. Boruto has a very different theme of Heritage and acceptance of legacy and that’s represented in the new gen. Boruto is covered in evidence of his heritage that he is desperately holding onto. Also Eida doesn’t fight btw. Sumire is also not a combatant past the first filler arc, where she wears a combat suit. Sarada dresses like she does due to the breaking of the Uchiha curse is the way I took it. Kind of a stretch ig. Most of the designs not being Ninja like is to mirror the phasing out of the warrior class. Imagine the fall of the Samurai. I get you didn’t read the manga(the only real way to experience the manga) but I feel you don’t give real justice to the story Boruto is, a story about how the world changes and things you once thought could never change do change. A young man loses everything and has to claw his way forward and hold onto his heritage that got him so far.
I really dislike when videos of people spreading misinformation blows up. I kid you not 80% of this comment section have never touched boruto. Why would cyborgs dress like shinobi? Why would people who don’t fight dress to fight? The worst part you haven’t even watched the majority of shippuden? And yet blind haters are agreeing when you’re just wrong.
It’s not hate towards it as much as it’s just offputting. The designs and vision is so different from the predecessor that I’ve no desire to get to know boruto
Not sure about you, But I like those characters design. Just bcz characters are from Boruto doesn't mean it deserves hate. People hate anything to justify Boruto is not from Naruto era.
I think the designs are actually pretty stylish and show a somewhat realistic depiction of how jurastic and diverse fashion can change over decades. If were talking about functionality and ease of use I understand how their design can get in the way of fighting in the real world but in naruto alone these are ninja that could walk on walls over a century ago and wore cloaks that could hinder movement at all times. If the future generation couldn't balance or perform effortlessly in heels as ninja I would be surprised. With technology involved in the same world as "magic" its no surprise that it would advance far beyond what we conceive can be achieved in a such a short period. Who's to say what belongs in that world besides the gods who help create it themselves. Also despite the variety each character looks distinctively a part of Boruto's world despite being able to fit in other's.

The only new boruto character that looks like they fit into the world is probably jigen and kashin koji. Other than them the rest of the cast need a massive overall in style.
since eida isn't really a fighter, her ability is all mind related & her brother fights for her when she's in danger, along with the fact that her dressing more glammed up makes sense for her as a big part of her character is her wanting to be desired & loved, so i believe she would wear that so i don't really have a problem with her design in isolation. i think it would be a pretty interesting design choice to have her be the only character who doesn't wear ninja attire, creating a point of contrast, however considering other characters have the problems you mentioned it makes eida's design seem like part of the problem rather than an intentional subversion, so i won't give any credit as that being the intention, nonetheless i don't think her design needs to be changed, but rather context (the other female characters designs) in which it exists. sarada is the most offensive to me because taking into account her character and how methodical, put together, & responsible her character is, her wearing heels is laughable, like it simply does not make sense for her character, designs should look good just from an art perspective but from a character perspective, she would definitely prioritize comfortability & utility, so she could get the job that needs to be done, done
9:10 does eida even really fight? i feel like this is one of the few exceptions on characters you could use this argument for, isnt her whole thing that she doesnt need to fight cause everyone around her gets mind controlled to love her, why would she ever dress to fight? specially when her whole thing is being charming. You certainly could make a point about how her design doesnt fit the aesthetic tho. THAT, i feel is a bit more fair.

For Pain, if I recall correctly the body with the cyborg parts were from that particular Path's powers not any modification to the body.
Yes! Puppets! It was right there! The jump to cyborgs... I see it as the influence of the modern age. A negative one. Everyone's jumps from constant smartphone companionship to sci-fi bullshit because we're surrounded by it, and writers let that influence their writing.
That makes no sense at all
Asura path is straight up a robot

When I saw Eida I thought she was a Jojo's character
Oh boy
Question: Is she a ninja? I feel like she was never a ninja. I mean, she uses being a cyborg with alien tech and traits, so she IS more a Jojo character than a ninja.
@Bezaliel13 From my understanding, no. She basically has otherworldly charisma that draws people to her (kind of like Miquella from Elden Ring), but she at least knows taijutsu. So, even tho she isn't a ninja, she can still fight. Even if she couldn't fight, her style is so different from the standard fashion trends in Naruto
@@viviwithav
Even without the rather obvious theme of "heroes triumph with hard work while villains relied too much on powers" to muddy the antagonists needing practical clothes, *why would Eida dress to fight?*
Sure, "her style is so different from the standard fashion trends in Naruto," but that does not address the alien-tech cyborg "needing" to dress in what would be practical for a ninja.
Their personalities are still intact with their designs. It's simply a different style. Some characters are more "runway model" than others.
What 😭
💀😭fools like you just expose yourself and it’s not even funny
And considering she doesn't have a mom for her teen years, makes sense.)
Heck, Shikadai clearly shows his lazier side by just wearing a jacket over a plain tee.
This!
No, you wouldn't, your issues wouldn't be solved by making Boruto Naruto's grandson. You'd just bitch about Naruto being washed up, the world of Naruto still having conflict or whatever nonsense you decide to cherry pick.

I feel it's because Naruto is much more "normal" in tome than jojo, so it cannot carry these weirder designs
@@Kazeryuun why's that?
Yeah but jojo made it make more sense since it fits into the world, and in boruto it sticks out like a thorn when a character looks bizarre.

After that every single mission they went on was just advancing the "main questline"-go do ninja exams, go get Tsunade back, go get Sasuke back, go save Gaara, go get Sasuke back, etc... etc...
There was so much cool worldbuilding at the beginning!

It should have been its own series, but if it was, it wouldn’t have been as popular.
Ur comment proves that
And they DID talk about the ramifictions of rapid improving technology and how it would affect the world; in the manga and especially the light novels. The Kakashi light novel literally had a whole arc dedicated to the worries even Naruto had about the advancement of technology

@@mawandembatha6622 Looking into it, it seems like it was an interview in Shounen Jump over The Art of Naruto: Uzumaki Book that came out in 1999. I couldn't find the exact volume because all the links online are now dead, but a scantalation I found was translated as thus:
- Do you have any rules about what is definitely not allowed to be drawn in the "Naruto" world?
K: Firstly, projectile weapons such as guns aren't allowed. (The one exception
is Inari's bowgun.) Guns aren't suited to ninja. Gunpowder is used in the anime,
though I don't think it should be there. And, vehicles such as aeroplanes are
not allowed. I try to restrain technology that can be used for war... For example, if missiles were in it, it'd be the end. (laughs)
There's also an image of page 115 of that artbook that apparently had the same interview in the original Japanese that machine translates to "It's probably not a time too different from today" and then a similar quote to the one above.

Same thing with edia she isn’t a ninja either
I feel like the crux of the issue really is *the worldbuilding* , which started with Shippuden.

But then we jump into Shippuden & Boruto and suddenly what we see is what we get as far as the world is concerned.

A correction; Kishimoto isn’t in charge of the Boruto manga. There is not a hint of his involvement credited on the Manga pages. He already expressed numerous times, he passed the torch to newer generations, and wants Naruto franchise to be like western superhero comics, where authors change numerous times.
It’s early to say for sure, but Paris interview leaks (aug 23-25) actually suggest Kishi and Ike have joint custody over the writing/plot of Boruto series
I mean it was said a long time ago that he returned to write the story when Baryon Mode Naruto was revealed in the manga. The official Naruto/Boruto also has him classified as the supervisor and writer.
@@firionkaiser8291 may I know where was he officially classified as a writer? if he is a writer why isn't he credited as one on the manga covers? sure, he's a 'supervisor' but his numerous interviews, where he talks about being exhausted and seeing the future of franchise in different hands, made it appearant that he dgaf where this franchise is going. maximum of his input on the series right now is maybe helping ikemoto with the general direction and giving him a thumbs up/down on ideas. and the tweet that 'announced' his apparent 'return' never actually implied he is returning. they only said basically they'd be more truthful to his go vision. it was a marketing trick.
@@zawasske No he IS doing the writing. That's why he's credited for Boruto right now. Ikemoto is the one doing the drawings but the story is Kishimoto and Ikemoto. I have no idea where ur getting ur info from but if he was simply the superviser, they would credit him as such.

Sumire is a scientist. After she was a spy(which wasnt covered by the manga) she retired from ninja life and became a scientist.
Nah bro thats just you now imma need to see your hard drive 😂
Yup, I noticed that instantly while watching this whole video and I didn't like that one bit.
Even then kishimoto has drawn better fetishistic characters compared ikemoto. Anko and Tsunade just looked like they belonged in a hentai and I'm not complaining.
@sunshineskystar they're also grown ahh women. That's at least one decent thing about the gut when it comes to female characters.
Cringe comment.
Sarada's anime design is the only outfit in my opinion that follows the philosophy of previous designs.
Like shes the only one who actually looks geared towards combat
Iffy on the hair tho.
I will say three things about the video,
Legend of korra is calling from the industrial revolution. Boruto: naa im gonna skip to terminator or maybe the matrix, Ends in star wars.
Lmfao ikr?
Part 1 Naruto already had Tvs, phones, and movie theaters. It's not surprising.
Perhaps I was too hard on legend of korra as a sequel series but I'll always sh*t on the Giant monster fight and dark avatar nonsense.
In Naruto, we see many peasants dressed in traditional peasant garb, doing traditional farming work… with ploughs… bull-drawn ploughs, probably.

Idk man her power sounds like bullshit, dumb writing in my opinion

But I think Boruto’s wasted that potential in its current state.

for me it's less about the technological advancement and more about how they are designed. You're expected to do that
Except it's never been steampunk. Naruto was always said to be based around the 1980's
So basically she just sits around comfortably while feeding her Allie’s information
And also, tsumurei is in the same boat, she’s not really much of a fighter.
I hate sarada's new design sm
Writing this comment right at the beginning of the Eida section: “this is clothing you could never wear into a fight.”
She has literally never gotten into a physical altercation and has never been shown to have physical fighting skills.

Why would characters who arent shinobi dress like ninjas?...thats like otsutsukis wearing headbands....
As if he wanted attention or something.
just like his father... also what you said isn't a critique, you just don't like a character. kids aren't logical
wtf? have you even bothered the read the manga because everything you said is absolutely not true and he has plenty of character development. good mindless hate.
These guys were probably on the hook to make more Fantasy Ninja stuff and wanted to make literally anything else.
To be fair, I’ve never seen Eida fight anyone. Her powers are more focused on perception and manipulation.

Thats not how Technological progression works, its not solely linear and does not advance at the same rate every time, the jump in technology between the end of the 19th century and the start of 20th century was larger than the jump between 12th and 16th century, ontop of that your presumptions on how advanced naruto's world was prior to boruto is just straight up wrong, electricity , radio and even televisions are existed as far back as the first 20 chapters of naruto, in fact the bio engineering found in naruto outclasses what we can do in our own world, and thats within the village not outside of it.

1. Eida is not a shinobi, she isnt even a fighter, the series emphasizes that she doesnt enjoy fighting and will avoid it if she can.
2. Eida is not a robot she is a cyborg, cyborgs are by definition humans who have been augmented.
9:55-: 12:43
Sumire is not a shinobi, she is part of the scientific team who spends most her days doing research and being behind a computer, she had a short period of time where she was a shinobi and her attire reflected that static.wikia.nocookie.net/naruto/images/8/83/Team_15.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/1200?cb=20180314100503
I think the art style and the charadesigne in Boruto are pretty cool… just not in Naruto universe, that doesn’t work at all.
I really don't want to be that guy but
It's sad seeing a review coming from someone who didn't watch the anime until the end... Still
Good video ig
Screw that, nobody deserves to watch or read the whole Boruto
@@Gerivassius_II😂😂 the hate is crazy
Who's going to sit and watch around 300 episodes of a show they don't like?
@@jorionedwards How tf r u gon criticize ish when u don't even know what it is about?
They're silly, its not that tragic.
technological advancement is due to one character plus the advancement of technology in the span of 15 years can be drastic, just 15 years ago you couldn’t imagine calling someone on a phone and seeing them while calling them
We couldn't imagine it? Television shows predicted it 40+ years ago.
1:01 Based on this alone, this video should already be invalidated.
I mean she’s right about the designs being trash though lol
@@kamamara2567yall do not know how to dress in real life, why tf should we take your opinion on fashion, boruto outfits are perfectly fine, eida and daemon are supposed to look outlandish, they’re literally beings conceived as cybernetic gods, why would they appear “normal” when they can barely fit in due to their powers

Well there is a problem with how 12 year old girls dress in boruto tho,
Sarada is dressed like a actual stripper lmao.
That aside, I love drip in anime but it has to make sense and fit within the aesthetic of the series,
The fashion doesn’t fit in the naruto verse at all,
Code dresses like a British royal vampire which looks out of place in a world that’s majority asian aesthetic and very obvious meant to be asian aesthetic.
The only new boruto character that looks like they fit into the world is probably jigen and kashin koji.
Other than them the rest of the cast need a massive overall in style.
Eida is a bio cyborg she was born a human
Eida don't fight
since eida isn't really a fighter, her ability is all mind related & her brother fights for her when she's in danger, along with the fact that her dressing more glammed up makes sense for her as a big part of her character is her wanting to be desired & loved, so i believe she would wear that so i don't really have a problem with her design in isolation. i think it would be a pretty interesting design choice to have her be the only character who doesn't wear ninja attire, creating a point of contrast, however considering other characters have the problems you mentioned it makes eida's design seem like part of the problem rather than an intentional subversion, so i won't give any credit as that being the intention, nonetheless i don't think her design needs to be changed, but rather context (the other female characters designs) in which it exists. sarada is the most offensive to me because taking into account her character and how methodical, put together, & responsible her character is, her wearing heels is laughable, like it simply does not make sense for her character, designs should look good just from an art perspective but from a character perspective, she would definitely prioritize comfortability & utility, so she could get the job that needs to be done, done
this video is pure example of someone's ignorance on full display
2:22 10 years in the joint
No way theres a nishiki reference here 😂
9:10 does eida even really fight? i feel like this is one of the few exceptions on characters you could use this argument for, isnt her whole thing that she doesnt need to fight cause everyone around her gets mind controlled to love her, why would she ever dress to fight? specially when her whole thing is being charming.
You certainly could make a point about how her design doesnt fit the aesthetic tho. THAT, i feel is a bit more fair.
Neither her or sumire fight
@@darkestasian6921 i remember that sumire did a lot of fighting at the "start" of the anime, dont know if it was with the same clothing nor if it happenned in the manga too
