Interestingly enough, Gadget was inspired by blending in Lupin's goofy personality side with Visual design taken from Zenigata
I knew they were connected somehow
That’s actually pretty interesting.
@@kaylaherrera4274, Well except Inspector Gadget is... Kind of an idiot, Lupin and Zenigata while goofy in their own right are not as bumbling as Gadget.
At the start, I though he was based to the enemy of the Pink Panther.
@@alicesacco9329 that’s correct. This dude is cappin
You missed that Lupin III: The Plot of the Fuma Clan included an entirely different voice cast case a life long falling out between Lupin's original Voice Actor and Monkey Punch due to a misunderstanding about why he was not involved.
Goemon was inserted into the strip when MP received complaints that the strip is not "Japanese" enough. So he added a personification of Japanese skill and tradition, named after the most famous thief of Japan's history. The character was somewhat based on the master swordsman Kyūzō played by Seiji Miyaguchi in Kurosawa's masterpiece The Seven Samurai. The close criminal partnership of Jigen and Lupin according to MP was adapted from the criminal team of Alain Delon Charles Bronson in the 1968 French film Adieu l'ami (aka Farewell Friend aka Honor Among Thieves). Jigen was thematically if not image wise based on the James Colburn character Britt, the deadeye shootist/knife-thrower of the Magnificent Seven.
I LOVE Lupin the 3rd, I cosplay him all the time at Conventions. I'm happy to say I knew a good number of these facts too. Lupin one of the best classics ever made. :)
+Patrick H Red, Green and maybe the new Blue. If I can find the blue jacket that is.
+CrimsonNineTail what about pink?
Cakey X Ha ha, No.
@@CrimsonNineTail What about the new Black Jacket?
@@ThenamesFaceless When did this come about? 🤔
Go go gadget lawyer
+Rapid000 TF2 シ - Go go gadget legal loophole finder.
I can't believe there's a connection between Lupin and Inspector Gadget, I find that so fucking interesting.
ey it's roopid
HOLY SHIT THAT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE!!! THE STYLES MATCH UP SO WELL
Inspector Zenegata was to me like the cool version of inspector gadget... My favorite character Inspector Zenigata INTERPOL!
Go Go Gadget now technically anime claim.
Lupin III is a french character but in the french version his name is Edgar de la cambriole.
(my parents name me beause of him)
they change the name because of copyright
I do have a question have they fixed the copyright issues?
@@victoriakaren2324 Yes, in the world since 2012.
Lupin is Edgar? That's hilarious
@@victoriakaren2324 yes
Inspector Gadget totally looks like Inspector Hanshici from Lupin III part 2 episode 54. & both shows have theme songs that only say the protagonist's name.
Cool facts! 👍 Some of these I knew, some of them, I didn't.
Another fun Lupin III Fact: Lupin III had a short spin-off manga (also created by Monkey Punch) titled "Lupin III Jr." which featured Lupin's illegitimate son as the titular protagonist.
Our favorite gentleman is also, in a way, a dad. 😅
On a related note to the Arsene Lupin vs. Herlock Sholmes book: there was an anime in the '80s or earlier that really did (more or less) pit Arsene Lupin vs Sherlock Holmes, called Lupin vs. Holmes. The look and feel was totally different from Lupin III, by being more dramatic and the character designs being more faithful to the original characters (or at least how we popularly knew them).
Lupin III leading indirectly to Inspector Gadget was genuinely new information for me.
the castle of cagliostro is the reason i got into less childish anime
stand proud miyazaki
watch out we got a badass over here...
@@fumomofumosarum5893 yes
0:40 In France, Lupin III became "Edgar, Detective Cambrioleur" with the title character being called Edgar de la Cambriole.
Can we just add how in Lupin the 3rd part 5, Zenigata gets actually concerned for Lupin's saftey on more than one occasion
It was always the case: in the first series Zenigata is seriously depressed when Lupin is facing a death sentence (the clip of him shaving with his nails while referring to the tone of the characters in this video is from that episode)
DIC didn't drop the future idea either. Eventually they created 'Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century' which was probably similar to the Lupin 8th idea.
+Lerkero That show was the shit back in the day,
I had no idea there was a lupin the third, detective conan cross-over until recently :D watched both movies instantly xD
"In the past 30 years there've been no new Lupin III stories in the main arc"
There's a main arc?
The green jacket was told as the main arc of lupin the 3rd if im not wrong..
Thank you, thank you, thank you...! Lupin the 3rd is now my favorite crime anime character, side by side with Cowboy Bebop. :D I'm really forward for more Lupin stuff. Can you guys make an Cowboy Bebop one? This videos are awesome.
+Francisco Moura Cowboy Bebop is one of our favorites so we definitely have plans to do that in the future!
+Francisco Moura Apparently the Cowboy Bebop crew were modelled after Lupin and his gang. Whilst they're far from the same there're a fair few similarities between Spike, Jet, and Faye and Lupin, Jigen, and Fujiko.
Lupin is a flower. Lupus, Loup, Lupa, Lup. Lupo are wolf.
Despite being a Seinen franchise, Lupin III probably has more yaoi doujinshi than any other anime franchise. A given, since doujinshi, shounenai & Lupin III Part 1 series all came around in the 70s.
I think he was referring to the word “lupine”.
What's ironic about the original arsene lupin wanting a crossover with lupin and Sherlock holmes. We get one with Detective Conan's Conan Edogawa and Lupin III. Also there is one manga that has a girl claim lupin and fujiko are her parents. Also Looker is based on Zenigata from lupin, many of game freak and creature studios were huge monkey punch fans.
+Samurai Forever91 The ironic part wasn't wanting a crossover, it's that both series got hit by copyright claims for using characters that belong to other people without permission.
+Anime Vice i know, but I found it cool.
You must mean Aria the Scarlet Ammo. Riko Mine was a descendant of Arsene Lupin, making her Lupin IV and by implication, Lupin III and Fujiko's daughter.
Yeah, that's the manga.
Please do 7 things you didn't know about Yu Yu Hakusho
Lupin still remains one of my all time fave anime's since I stumbled upon it in the 90's! Good stuff!
Jesus even back then anime women were SIZZLIN!
*Jesus:* You got that right homie.
+Paul Staker Alright, that made my evening.
LotusbandicootRR
Evening... commissioner...
I love that episode 101 of Lupin III Part II is basically an episode of The Rose of Versailles. Having Oscar herself in the episode.
I actually enjoyed watching Lupin the third: The castle of Cagliostro that I actually ordered the unrated cut on Blu- ray a while back and now just ordered both "bye bye lady liberty" and "The legend of the gold of Babylon" on Blu-ray from Amazon.
last fact is pretty interesting!
I'd like to correct an error on Cagliostro's Schedule. They were given 6 months, not 4. It's still extremely short, and if Cagliostro is as good and beautiful as it is, it's mostly due to the fact that most of the biggest talents of that time worked on it !
*Lupin* is that dude ..!
I didn't know Inspector Gadget happened by accident. I loved that show as a kid.
Same and it makes me surprise founding out that lupin 8th idea is the based of the show
Oh, I know about 'The Legend of Twilight Gemini', it was the only one on the First Haul set that was not in Japanese. I used it as a frisbee and bought a proper copy.
Lupin the third in the castle castleostiro is actually pretty good just considering it was rushed as much as it was
my personal favourite lupin movie is Nostradamus and the Fuma Conspiracy , that oil lamp genie movie is not bad too, and there is Moma kinda over the top crazy
Wait, so we get a topless Fujiko and a full on sex scene? hm...I gotta watch that movie, cuz you know, I'm such a huge fan o Lupin and his wacky antics!
You should check out Monkey Punch's Alice as well. The whole OVA is based on a manga series about a man who tries to avenge his father's death at the hands of a sex cyborg he created.
Lupin III has been and will always be my favorite animes ever
Here's a Lupin Tidbit.. back in the 80's "The Castle of Cagliostro" Was made into a "Dragon's Lair" Type Video Game... Lupin's Name was change to "Cliff Hanger" (Also the name of the Game)
+Jettscreamer99 Cliff Jumper used scenes from other anime too, if i remember right
Oh my God, I've never known about the Inspector Gudget history, that caght me off guard o_o
I owe Lupin III even more than I thought!
Anyway, those facts I really didn;t know. Thanks for the video, it's very interesting.
*Gadget
Wait, there's 3 missing episodes of season 1 out there? I gotta have em!
I'd never have guessed it had been cancelled, because it was not only a good way to end a show on a high note, but it's also a good way to promise a potential sequel without ending on a cliffhanger.
you ever have that moment when you realize that sly cooper is lupin's fursona and you're mind is blown?
Great video! Hope the new Lupin series gets an English dub and release soon.
Cool, I've been a Lupin fan for a long time (think I've seen most of the movies). I didn't know about #7! I've gotta look up more of the old TV eps somewhere (haven't seen many of them).
I love lupin.I love your video.Thanks.💗
Damn, i need to track down a copy of that movie in number 6.
Morgil. any luck?
I just started watching lupin yesterday and I love it so much
8th thing you probably didn't know. I sat in the studio while the role of Lupin was dubbed at Funamation.
Great facts, knew some but not all. Love Lupin III, let's see a 7 Things You Didn't Know About Detective Conan.
Man I just can't hate this thief.
I loved this show! The nostalgia is real but it died out... Thanks!
I enjoy these :)
Lupin the third is a good anime series will never die.
I was 8 i when i discovered anime and the first one i saw was Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro. Then watch the whole green jacket series and some of the Red jacket series & a few of the Pink jacket series. I haven’t seen much of its movies aside from the Hayao Miyazaki classic, but there were AMVs back in early UA-cam showing bits of scenes from some movies. I was more interested in the thief side of Lupin and just ignored most of the adult scenes 😂
Can I get an Inspector Gadget/Lupin crossover? The Detective Conan/Lupin crossover was kinda meh. I liked it, but it just wasn't amazing.
Me, I’d go for a Lupin III / One Piece crossover.
I'm surprised no one mentioned a Lupin III/Cowboy Bebop crossover.
Bebop carries a good amount of influences from Lupin, especially with the characters.
@@JazzStation95 jesus that'd be soooo cool, imagine If they mixed the Re: version of Cutie Honey and the A Woman Named Fujiko Mine Lupin III, It'd definitely result in a more adult setting with a lot of humor and fanservice of course
i will be waiting.
So Fujiko was the original Nurse Joy
I definitely didn’t know that last fact! 🤯
So that is why the animation styles of Lupin The Third and Inspector Gadget are so similar, I thought it was just a coincidence.
0:56 update on this, I think this is where the idea for the Bad Guys movie got to stylistically tribute Lupin iii. with both protagonists often going by Wolf and having a similar persona
So if it wasn't for Lupin the Third, we didn't get Inspector Gadget?
Wowsers!
The More You Know!
Tony Oliver the voice of Lupin the Third help write the power rangers when then first came to america in the early 90's and that is how the green ranger got his last name of Oliver
Stuff you didn;t know about Lupin III..... The original Lupin III manga & its 70s spinoffs & sequels are self-contained universe & share little-to-no continuity with the anime franchise, proven by Jigen's poor relationship with Lupin, & Zenigata being the same age as Lupin. So in the 80s, there was a reboot that made the mangas more like the TV series. There's also 20 manga series & oneshots in total in the franchise. Luckily, MP didn't seem to be working on anything at the time of his death.
If I knew Lupin III was meant for adults to watch. As a teen, I wouldn't have made my niece who was a toddler watch it with me. After 10 mins watching the series she'd fall asleep.
I think Fujiko and Lupin and suddenly I see Sango and Miroku from Inuyasha. Lupin and Miroku are both pervert, its fun watching Sango slap Miroku in the face at times
How did you get the Lupin the Third castle of cagliostro HD? Look at that quality I wanna know where you get that! HD
the Castle of Cagistro {sorry for the misspelling} help inspired the clock fight scene in the Great Mouse Detective
its funny you brought up james bond i always think of LTT as ocean's 11 meets james bond lol
I loved Gadget as a kid, then I liked Lupin. Makes sense.
I love this series in both manga and tv form.x3
I'll never like the character Fujiko though.xP
SpeediraWindira she hot
Well kinda same for me i don't really like fujiko when i first know her..
I mean she's not meant to be likeable so yeah
Even in the show itself the only character that likes her is Lupin, and that's only to make it clear that Lupin's simping will usually get him in trouble
So that’s why they use the name Wolf, huh, intresting to know
5:43 got me wheezin
How can I get my hands on a copy of the unedited version of The Twin Gemini? If anyone here knows please tell me.
Where is the footage at 1:53 from
That ending tho
I heard there was an arcade game for Lupin the Third called Cliff Hanger. Is that true?
And when does this new cartoon for Lupin show up and how can I see it?
It was a QTE game, a Dragon's Lair rip off, that used Castle of Cagliostro video. The new series is already out, a few ovas are yet to come.
Now I have to see if I have the unedited version of Twilight Gemini in my set
He should say pops on the thumbnail instead of zenigata
from 00:50-00:54 what episode is that from?
it’s from part 1
Ok people what's your favorite thing
Isnt the image on the 6 title card One Piece?
And without Mamo, no Doctor Claw.
"And I didn't leave my bedroom in a month..."
"Lupin was actually quite..... rapey."
8 I didn't know there was a new series coming out... (I guess I'm an unconnected fan then)
5:05
7things we didnt know about future diary
We need to see Lupin the Third vs Inspector Gadget
Well I must say while I am pleasantly surprised by these facts but the real question is why hasn't inspector Zenigata shut you guys down yet for this leak of information.
Im still looking for all the US adult swim episodes
We are currently doing a Retrospective on the ENTIRE Lupin animated franchise on our channel #yearoflupin if anyone is interested - check us out - we actually referenced our good buddies here at Anime Vice on this very video.. which is awesome as all of your 7T's anime vids
Wow
Welcome to 2021 where Sherlock Holmes is in Lupin III part 6 and Herlock Sholmes is a character in the Ace Attorney series
no offense to you guys, but these facts will be known by almost all fans. there's much more rare lupin lore to be dug out
Caugh 5:18 u forgot to censored caugh
This was mindblowing omg i always thought the girls since season 1 were fujiko ugh
You search a live action series in the same style than "Lupin III"? Then, dash to watch "Lupinranger VS Patranger"; you won't be disappointed.
wait, no more green or red jacket? Now its blue? I dont know how i feel about this
So you're saying that That particular Lupin Show was inside Funimations guide lines BUT Interspecies Reviewers isn't
Suggestion: 7 things (or more) you didn't know about Gintama
wait there is a new Lupin series?
1:51
Do 7 things you didn't know about Patlabor, Ghost Stories, Ghost Hunt, Appleseed
I just noticed Ash Ketchum on the #2
Oh yea future here lupin part V 2018
So what are the differences between the uncut and the edited twilight gemini?
Harry Blum the uncut version has the full sex scene between Lupin and Fujiko, no interruptions. The edited version is where they took some of (if not most of it) out for younger audiences.
Can y'all do Cowboy Bebop
