    one thing i cant wrap my head around: WHY would they not include a .01mm adjustment parameter to the z offset calibration screen? the smallest adjustment they allow is .05, I need much finer adjustments than that when it comes to dialing in my offset. Wtf creality.

    This is a great series and has been very helpful however I don't appear to have estimated time remaining or number of layer. Are they added from somewhere else? I'm using Ender 5 Plus with silent motherboard and micro swiss ng with revo. I also have to reset the z offset every time, it says its saving but it doesn't!!

    hello, need help! ender6 with bl touch, works well, want to use sonic pad, installation goes well according to manual, until self-test of the fans, then the bed rises against the nozzle, have to switch off the printer, the bl touch does not work during the self-test, how do I do this? Furthermore, I have been looking for advice for a long time, thanks in advance for pointing out a solution. Regards, Henk

    Ricky thank you for all the great information and help as I get started with the hobby. I got the Ender 3 S1 Pro and the sonic pad on your recommendation. Please let me know if there is a better forum to post this question. Now the question. When I slice with Cura 5.3.0 I'm getting Z scaring. This just started with the sonic pad. When slicing using Creality Slicer 4.8.2 it disappears completely. The only thing I change is the slicer. Any Idea what I'm doing wrong? I've seen videos that talk about turning of the power outage recovery. I can confirm that is off. I'm using the same temp, filament, speed both times just something in cura is causing z blobs. I sliced multiple times cura only decrease speed 100mm to 50mm and the blobs are identical. They don't appear on the straight runs, mostly just the curve of the bow. The matching pattern is why I suspected the slicer. Again thank you for your informative and entertaining videos. Can't wait for the rest of the series. Cheers!

    • @RickyImpey
      @RickyImpey  Рік тому

      Sorry for the delay. I won't say that I know the answer but there are a few things to check. Firstly, how much calibration have you done with the Sonic Pad? I would advise working through the basics and now intermediate series and the next couple of videos I have coming out. As part of these, I advise turning off acceleration control in Cura. It may be that it is only activated in the newer version, you want the Sonic Pad to handle accelerations now. Pressure Advance would be the next thing I would focus on for particularly visible z seams. I am currently editing this video but it should be out soon. You can follow a klipper pressure advance guide if you can't wait but make sure you also do input shaping.
      Hopefully, once these things are tuned, you will see big improvements. It's annoying when quality goes with a slicer update but it will likely be a simple setting somewhere, You can of course go back to the version that was working for you until you get the newer one dialed in.

    Just having the sonic pad, does it speed up the printing time for real? I saw creality's video on how to really speed up printing time but you need the ceramic heating kit, the cooling fan kit and the hyper series filament along with the sonic pad... do you think that is all necesarry?

    • @RickyImpey
      @RickyImpey  7 місяців тому +1

      You are correct in that to gain the fastest print speeds, you will need a higher flow hot end and better cooling but most machines can handle much higher speeds with a 0.4mm nozzle. As an example, machines that I used to print at 60mm/s max velocity now print at over 100mm/s

    Hi Ricky, thanks for the best video so far on the Sonic Pad set up. I have the upgraded Creality Official Ender 3 Silent Motherboard Upgrade V4.2.7 Mainboard Control Board with TMC2225 Driver, a CR Touch and a Sprite Pro Extruder kit. Planning to fit to my standard Ender 3. Two questions as Google and Creality etc. are suitably vague. What firmware version do I need to use? Will the changes in hardware make it compatible with a Sonic Pad, i.e will it behave as a S1 or V2 with the upgraded hardware? Any advice much appreciated. Thank you

    Dont know if you have an Ender6 with BLtouch. If you do could you share your Printer.cfg file for the Sonic Pad. I have made what I think are the necessary changes to include the BL touch in the Klipper cfg file for the Ender6 but I cannot save or restart as it just says
    "Unknown pin chip name 'probe'
    Once the underlying issue is corrected, use the "RESTART"
    command to reload the config and restart the host software.
    Printer is halted. "
    Regrattably I cannot understand how to resolve this issue.

    Ricky - I notice at 7:29 that you have a nozzle target of 21c and bed at 50c. I have a new Pad and have been following your setup instructions and have an issue where the print job seems to be ignoring the temperatures set in the slicer and setting very low targets like yours. I'm wondering what I have missed (I am using the Creality profiles and the first layer temps are set correctly) - What am I missing?

    I have a question, My CR-10S Pro V2 automatically sets the Z offset. I don't have a limit switch for the print head to hit, it has a sensor. When I add the Sonic Pad will the functionality still be the same as in will it set the Z offset set automatically? When I print the Z offset is always different after auto calibration. I don't have a save feature on my printer.. I am only adding the Sonic pad for ethernet and WIFI Printing.

    At the moment I’m disappointed (to say the least) with the Sonic Pad and I haven’t got to printing yet😮
    Time doesn’t appear to be from either a real time clock or from the local network.
    When WIFI network connected you see a Green Arrow and IP address, when it’s not disconnected but not working you see the word ‘connected’ but no IP address. There is no ‘Forget this network’ or similar message.
    Who knows what I’m going to find, when or if I get past this point.

    • @RickyImpey
      @RickyImpey  Рік тому +2

      The clock finds the correct time when it connects to the internet through a wifi connection. Yes, I noticed that the labels are wrong for the network connection. I found that mine sometimes has connection issues if it's further away from my router. Hope you manage to sort a connection for yours.

    • @paulowen9628
      @paulowen9628 Рік тому

      Thanks, Ricky. Once I had achieved a WiFi connection I saw the correct time displayed. Getting WiFi to work must have taken me best part of a day (8 hrs) I reset my AP which is only 5m away, changed the WiFi password, reinstalled the Sonic Pad and I think the printer firmware.
      Unfortunately, the manual is not particularly well detailed. I’m still not certain about the USB stick operation and when I do plug it in as shown I get an error message that is can’t be accessed. If I ignore the message and ‘Next’ again it says it’s successful. 😵‍💫
      I’m glad there are those out there like you that at least give us a chance to get things working.
      Going through your videos and attempting a basic bed level test print has revealed what I think are some teething problems but may be my complete ignorance of Klipper. As for ‘Plug and ‘Play!!!!!!
      I look forward to your upcoming videos for fine tuning of and required default settings for Klipper/Sonic Pad.

      Paul
