after listening to anders and justice.. its /really/ obvious just how little of anders is actually left by dragon age 2. his speech patterns, his attitude, its almost 100% justice with a thin coating of anders clinging to it..
Jorge Diaz I mean Anders the funny one. Recently, I completed the awakening story mode and I think for me, your party should be Oghren, Nathaniel and Velanna? Just to add mystery in anders justice possession in DA2. You don't need to follow this if you want. I did this because the story falls right into their places if you choose to spare the architect.
Naturally, if your party was Oghren, Velanna, and Nathaniel leaving Sigrun, Justice and Anders at Vigil's Keep, you arrived at the city of amarathine, your party believed that the city is lost. Of course you can persuade the to save the city, leaving the Vigil's Keep to its destruction and killing your spare party members there. In Dragon Age 2, Hawke and Anders meets Nathaniel in Deep Road. Surprised, Nathan told Anders that he saw his dead body in the Keep with an arrow on the neck. Anders replied that if some grey wardens came looking for him, tell them that(anders with arrow in the neck)
@Aleksa Petrovic Velanna feels more natural. It would have been one thing if they didn't try to keep Anders goofy in 2. Just her in Anders role in 2 makes way more sense. Maybe not the medic part helping people, but everything else just fits her and her beliefs better. It's hard to believe the Anders from Awakening would blow up the Chantry. Still hard to believe Anders in 2 would blow up the Chantry.
I mean, the simple fact is, by the time of Dragon Age 2, Justice *has* become a Demon, by his own definition. A spirit corrupted by his desire; in this case, his desire for Justice. That desire was corrupted by Anders' rage against the Chantry into Vengeance. By that time Justice is less interested in Justice than simply attacking the aggressor in any given situation; regardless of how the "victim" feels about the situation. Anders is host to Justice/Vengeance. As a result, the spirit does have influence over Anders' mind and actions, sometimes passively just by influencing him, sometimes actively taking control. Anders already hated the Chantry and the Templars, and on one or two occasions even expresses a mild desire to "rain fireballs on every Templar in existence". But he never acted on that Hatred, choosing simply to flee and hide from them rather than stick his neck out for every mage in existence that may or may *not* want to be "freed" from the Chantry. Justice's influence changed that. Passively, Justice's presence gave him the courage to stand up for Mages more. On occasion, Justice would more forcefully take a stand to strike back at particularly aggressive Templars going too far. When Anders' lover Karl is made Tranquil against his will, that gives Anders a big push. Meredith and her Templars keep getting more and more oppressive, squeezing tighter and tighter, becoming Tyrants even by the standards of how Mages *usually* see Templars. With Justice/Vengeance constantly seething at this within his mind, Anders is gradually pushed to seek retribution on behalf of Mages. He occasionally tries to be the cheerful snarker he used to be, but the plight of Mages is stuck at the forefront of his mind, ever glued there by Justice, smoldering at how Mages are treated. The Chantry would *never* let Mages go free, would never loosen their grasp. The Chantry sees their authority as *ABSOLUTE,* noone and nothing has a higher say than they do in their mind, especially in regards to magic. In order for Mages to *ever* truly be free of the Chantry, it would have to be by force. With the situation in Kirkwall spiraling ever more out of control, Anders/Justice/Vengeance decide to push the whole thing over the edge with one extremely drastic measure, one that will shake the foundation of every Chantry and Circle of Magi on the planet. By destroying the Chantry with the Revered Mother still inside, he forces Meredith's hand, forcing her to invoke the Rite of Annulment. But because he's not only an Apostate, outside the Circle, even before he left the Circle, he was from an *entirely different Circle,* the Kirkwall Circle are outraged and rise to defend themselves. The Mage/Templar war has begun. In Anders' eyes, it was always inevitable; either this war would happen at some point, or Mages would remain under the Templar's heels until the end of time, assuming the Chantry never decided to simply start executing Mages the moment their powers manifest (which, let's be real, Anders/Justice probably saw as a very real possible eventuality, given Meredith). He simply started something he saw as inevitable. He hates himself for what he has become by this point, fully aware of the perversion of Justice's nature by Anders' own mind. But at the same time, he sees nothing he can do to change it. He can only act on what he feels is right. As cheerful and entertaining as Anders is in Awakening, he absolutely has his moments where he gets mopey and angry about the whole Mage/Templar situation. It honestly strikes me as a very logical progression. Whoo, that turned into an essay, didn't it.

Yep. Nathaniel even has the gall of going "fuck,I was hoping Justice would be the dominant personality" when he meets Anders in DA2. In other words,Nathaniel WANTED to screw over Anders.
If you ask me, this was one of the strongest character lineups in Dragon Age games. Anders, Velanna, Nathaniel and Justice are all A tier Dragon Age companions, and Oghren and Sigrun, while not among the most interesting characters, have fun personalities and play well with the others in banter. It's a damn shame that Awakening is not a full game and pretty much ends upon acquiring the full roster of these colorful personalities, so you never really get to know them as well as you know your companions in other games. I would have paid good money for a full game with all these Warden misfits. The romance options alone would have been a great addition.
honestly i think sigrun as a character could be so interesting if she was a fully developed charatcer, her origin could add a lot to the story and it feels like death is her coping mechanism. wish she was our dwarven companion in origins instead of oghren who i personally dislike, maybe she could've joined us when we meet that group of the legion in the deep roads. I think her and velanna could really benefit from more screentime, the game basically ends when they start to develop
Reminds you why Anders got turned into crazy.Justice screwed him up,he even says it at at the end of the game, That allowing Justice in was a horriblemistake and made both ofthem into monsters with the compelling need of Vengeance.
I love the banter in awakening. It really makes one understand why Anders in Da2 is the way he is. Anders always had the same opinions on the circle and templars but was selfish before, only caring about himself, not wanting to get involved and killed. Just wanting to have fun. All while Justice is very much the opposite. selfless, serious, innocent. Them fusing broke them both. A shame but I like broken Anders too. I am watching this and realize that the actors who did Oghren and Anders voices must have had a blast doing their banters with the other characters, you can literally hear how happy they sound. DAA Anders, you will be missed, you were one of my favorite characters in DA, until you let a spirit into you and left you with his demon( I am making a baby joke here for those that does´nt get it)
I'm so happy this video exists! I didn't get to recruit Velanna because of a bug, and I would have greatly regretted never getting to hear flirty Nate.
I keep asking myself how Hawke and company would react to meeting Anders and Justice from the past. What would they think? Would they like these versions of them more? Would they be saddened that Anders and Justice used to be so amiable (and funny in Anders’ case) before they became an abomination?
justice reminds me of sten , i could actually give my first born for a conversation between those two? don't let me get started about morrigan and velanna.
Whew, i find all the comments about how perfect Anders was in Awakening so depressing. I don't think he was perfect. I think he was hiding his pain and anger behind a smart mouth. I much prefer the fully realized person he was in DA2.
johnson yeah, I don't think you were actually meant to "enjoy" a severely mentally ill character so much as appreciate the honesty of the game showing what a lifetime of abuse would do to a person.
he became a borderline abomination. Anders offered to let Justice into his body, but due to Anders' anger Justice became a spirit of vengeance instead. That destroyed Anders' personality.
Man I would have loved to see what velanna with justice as originally planned would be like. She’d whine about the Dalish like how Anders whines about the mages. Would also be cool to see velanna interact with Merrill, and also when we meet Nathaniel it’d be cool to see that they had a romance that was prematurely ended cuz of justice. Also justice crazed Velanna would be like Azula :D
Thinking about how originally it was going to be Velanna instead of anders who would reappear in da2 merged with justice, and there's adequate foreshadowing for both
@@Nakarotto1 its possible that they originally were supposed to have something developed in the future but bioware dropped their plans for velanna thus we get nothing about it. So the frames on the bottom are your canon Cousland. Mahariel, Brosca, Aeducan, Tabris and Amell? Potentially I could have a couple mixed up.
As everyone else pointed out, the Anders and Justice banter is pretty sad, and makes me wistful for Anders before his DA2 downspiral.
The elves were long lived, maybe ageless but not immortal.
Immortal is the inability to die full stop, why is that such a hard concept to grasp?
MAJOR SPOILERS FOR DA:I TRESPASSER DLC!
Well mythal endured in flemeth......
Solas even said he imprisoned the evanuris in the fade, rather than killing them.
He even stated that;
'The first of my people do not fie so easily'
maybe they never could truly die.
I've never heard immortality described as such. As I have always understood it, immortal and ageless mean about the same thing.
Nah. According to Trespasser some of them were straight up immortal.
Mythal died and she still lived so...
So it sounds like Nathaniel was the one who gave Justice the idea to possess Anders.
Secretly, Nathaniel is a Sith Lord.
The banter here is so good! It's like an actual dnd party
Valenna is a dalish blonde Morrigan.
Is that a bad thing?
+Retbullgivesyouwings we didnt get a god baby nor a god mother so its not a good thing
With a giant chip on her shoulder.
No no no no nou!!!!
She's different from Morrigan she's wayyyyy different i just cant put it to words
I love Anders❤️
“I’m not only a dwarf, I’m a moron!!”🤣😂🤣😂
I am watching this and realize that the actors who did Oghren and Anders voices must have had a blast doing their banters with the other characters, you can literally hear how happy they sound.
DAA Anders, you will be missed, you were one of my favorite characters in DA, until you let a spirit into you and left you with his demon( I am making a baby joke here for those that does´nt get it)
Nathaniel's flirting 😍
I'm so happy this video exists! I didn't get to recruit Velanna because of a bug, and I would have greatly regretted never getting to hear flirty Nate.
I keep asking myself how Hawke and company would react to meeting Anders and Justice from the past. What would they think? Would they like these versions of them more? Would they be saddened that Anders and Justice used to be so amiable (and funny in Anders’ case) before they became an abomination?
Love Velanna
i never noticed nathaniel’s little hum...... i’m in love...........
Love the banter between Anders and Oghren, he is so funnily disgusting is Oghren
I love the banter between Oghren and Anders, most xD
Justice and Nathaniel talk about justice possessing a living person
2:09 - 2:14 why now I'm imagining Nathaniel run after Anders with a sword in his hand? XD
justice reminds me of sten , i could actually give my first born for a conversation between those two? don't let me get started about morrigan and velanna.
When will we get an actual female Dwarf romance. Or a non magic elf that doesn't make my ears bleed
Oghren and Anders banter is the best
“LET ME TELL YOU ALL ABOUT MY LIFE IN ONE WORD.. ‘Burp’”
Whew, i find all the comments about how perfect Anders was in Awakening so depressing. I don't think he was perfect. I think he was hiding his pain and anger behind a smart mouth. I much prefer the fully realized person he was in DA2.
Agreed.
Yea no i dont enjoy that one i like smarty anders
johnson yeah, I don't think you were actually meant to "enjoy" a severely mentally ill character so much as appreciate the honesty of the game showing what a lifetime of abuse would do to a person.
nah, i think awakening anders was genuine, but the moment he let justice possess him... gg. i like both daa and da2 anders.
He wasn't definitely perfect in Awakening either.
I skipped Awakening before playing 2 and like omg Anders what did they do to you?
ikr!! it's so frigging weird
it was originally supposed to be the elf mage, I'm not sure if it would've been more or less out of place.
They wanted to show what happens to a person when they're possessed
he was such a chirpy little cutie pie. Then justice happened....
he became a borderline abomination. Anders offered to let Justice into his body, but due to Anders' anger Justice became a spirit of vengeance instead. That destroyed Anders' personality.
The amount of times justice said he would never possess a mortal is a little disturbing
7:25 Azula's voice comes out when shes being sadistic lol
I miss the pre-da2 anders
Me too.
Justice really messes him up.
He also needed his cat.
+Kendra Long Honestly, Justice and Anders sorta screw each other up.
+kelli campbell
The cat is still in the inventory of the hero of Ferelden.
Thinking about how originally it was going to be Velanna instead of anders who would reappear in da2 merged with justice, and there's adequate foreshadowing for both
Nathanial and Velanna
It is kinda of a surprise those two didn't hook up afterwards. I wonder if they meet again later in life.
@@Nakarotto1 its possible that they originally were supposed to have something developed in the future but bioware dropped their plans for velanna thus we get nothing about it.
Originally velanna was planned to return for kirkwall but they changed it to anders. Some of her planned story was salvaged for Merril is my guess
19:06 How exactly does one "butter a southern pony"? What size pony? Where do you begin buttering it, and what kind of butter do you use? Is it safe to do this in public?
Omg i didn't realize Anders was so funny, like my god. XD
thanks for the upload!
13:08 goddamnit Nathaniel so it was your doing anders ended up like that!
Ahaha yes, just wtf you did Nathaniel
nooooo, why did I let Nathan go, he's such a good companion 😭
02:14 Howe clever
1:24. That foreshadowing...
So is anders voice actor the same as cullens?
