yes the red special sounds unique in every way but this is a lot of harmonizing, knownig brian as a perfectionist, he propably recorded this track on track and didnt use any pedals, dont know if there was an harmonizing effect at that time.. when I think of brian may I think of a sustainless continues harmonized sound like this, or the last bit of the bohemian rhapsody solo...brian is just another level..

Not a coincidence. May was a massive Hendrix fan. Though of course the royal pomp of Queen would have demanded this too. It was British tradition to end concerts on the anthem.

Yes, totally agreed. I'm a big guitar buff and have listened to all the greats for decades (jazz, metal, prog, classical, rock, spanish etc). And, for me, Brian is right at the very top of the tree. They're all different in their different ways - so you there's no such thing as a 'ranking list' in my book. But for sheer musicality, he's up there with a very tiny handful of others. Nothing he ever plays is anything other than beautifully musical - and elegantly creative (like you say, unique) - to my ears.....

This is eerie: It was his last public concert performance, and the last song was God save the Queen.
Elisabeth's last public appearance was the jubilee in June 22 with God save the Queen as a closer.

My favourite part of this rendition is the very end at 0:52, where Brian plays that amazing descending line. The guitar tone changing from very regal and bright to that warm and silvery tone is so amazing. Plus the chord progression doing that awesome deceptive resolution with the V64 to V, and then to IV instead of I just creates for such an emotional ending to a song. Beautiful rendition.
I don't care for monarchy, but , apart from my family, this woman has been the biggest constant person in my life. Rest in peace, Liz!

Seriously?! As if Queen never used foul language or depicted nudity in their music videos or on stage. Their music videos for "Bicycle Race" and "Body Language" featured sexual themes and gratuitous nudity. It's naive and pointless to make comments claiming "0% nudity / 0% profanity" on older music videos, as it makes the artist seem more genuine than today's artists. Queen emerged during the sexual revolution of the 1970s...and Freddie was no sexual prude. Best believe they indulged in nudity and profanity, even if it wasn't explicitly shown.
