I just read something by a close friend of his that confirmed that very thing. That last "I still love you" that he whispered at the end of the song was for the fans.
He was actually very sick while making this video and having terrible pain from open sores on his body due to the AIDS virus. But you wouldn’t have known it, the director said he fought through it to leave on his terms.
When he looks into the camera (and our souls) and whispers "I still love you" my heart breaks into a million pieces. Oh Freddie, we still love you too and we miss you more than words can say.
My mum passed away on Sunday at the grand old age of 89yrs and she loved queen, and I've chosen this song to be played at her funeral as it seems so perfect
Freddie gave me hope and strength to go on with his music when I was diagnosed with HIV and there was no treatment then in South Africa and Dr said I had 3 to 4 months to live 20 years now I'm still alive and feeling very happy achieved most of my dreams and became a professional nurse that I've always wanted to be. When the time comes for me to die I hope I won't have no regrets I'll be grateful for the life I've lived like Freddie
Thanks so much but believe me when I say at the biggining of my diagnosis I felt like I was going mad because I couldn't understand how come I had sex once felt pregnant and contracted a diseases that was deemed deadly at the same time. But now I just embrace life because I've survived stigma that came with the disease then and came out on top through Freddie's music and I forgave the man that gave me the disease, I'm really at peace with myself and very happy.
Brian said that he was in so much pain during this time. He had wounds that would not heal, all those tumors (which I forget there real name) and it was just hard for him to stand. Brian May said that Freddie would take a couple shots, drag himself up with the mic and sing. He literally died doing what he loved and this video makes me want to cry due to how brave of him to even make this video and looking as sick as he did. Freddie tried to hid it with make up and that’s also why it’s in black and white as well. We don’t get to see much of that anymore which is saddening tbh
They were leisions, not tumors. Tumors are what you have when you have cancer. Freddie had AIDS. Which destroys your immune system and your body deteriorates while you’re still alive.

I am glad my parents brought me up listening to the right music (Queen from my Mum, and Pink Floyd from my Dad, Pink Floyd is probably my favourite band of all time)
After Knebworth 1986 He stopped doing concerts therefore there was no concert following the release of innuedo which is when you can tell something was wrong with Freddie.
He did. If you watch the documentary on the making of this video, Brian said Freddie had a couple of vodka bottles on the video set. Freddie would have a couple drinks of vodka before a take, prop himself up at the mixing desk with the mic, and, to quote Brian, Freddie would "go for it."
That smile at 0:52 breaks my heart. R.I.P Freddie, you’ll live forever and your voice will ring out throughout the ages, long after we’re all gone. Why couldn’t there have been a cure, too many people have lost their lives to that horrible illness.
That smile , his movements his passion his personality shines through in this video. He was of the best performers. It's not sad guys, it's a celebration of a truly wonderful song.. The 4 of them looked happy in this video.
He looks so frail here... a portrait of a dying man. *BUT* just imagine the sheer courage, the energy, the spirit and the damn tenacity that this man must have needed to show up, stand up and perform right up until his final days. It's a triumph of strength and vitality. What a fucking breathtaking way to go out. What a legacy to leave behind.
He was so sick, and he knew his time was coming to an end, so he told the boys " I want to do as much as possible ", so they recorded at all hours of the day and night to accommodate how Freddie was feeling. This song is beautiful, but when you think of the circumstances, it makes it that much more special !!!
area3eventing Yes they were. I was watching a Brian May interview on RT and he was talking about how depressed he got, and driving and seeing a cliff and wondering if it would do, and realized he had people depending on him, and that that is not how Freddy would of approved of him doing. H went on and did what Freddy would have wanted - live and finsished his Phd and other passions. Deaky simply said Queen died with Freddy dying and walked away from it all. It was Freddy or nothing.
Even though I wasn’t born during Queen’s prime time, their music has changed the music industry and has inspired lots of artists. Thank you for all the great years Freddy we will all miss you.❤❤❤
It's interesting to watch the expressions on Roger's and Brian's faces. They knew he was dying. They'd look at him and smile. These men were more than band mates. They were friends, and they loved each other. Joel Zimmerman (Deadmau5) said "If you can impact one person with your music then it is pretty much worth it." Freddie impacted millions of people. He's still impacting people with his music. It was worth it. We still love you, Freddie.
The fact he’s still Freddie when he knows he’s gonna die of an incurable illness is not only amazing but legendary, we miss you Freddie. Ladies and gentlemen I give you the god of rock and roll, Freddie Mercury
makes me so sad, Freddie is saying goodbye to us, really makes you think just how short life is, so dont fuck it up you will never get another chance guys! God bless you Freddie!

On the last “I still love you” he looked directly into our eyes, and said that. And then everybody knew. The legend was saying goodbye Edit: Thanks so much for the likes. It's great that so many are gathered together to keep Freddie's and Queen's music alive
Every time I listen to this song, all I hear is a man telling is life story, especially after watching the documentary. All I can hear is a man summarizing is life experience. .... What a gifted musician.
When recording "the show must go on" he was in hospital from his illness. Brian may said "are you fine fred? I'm not sure if you could still sing " to which Freddie replied "oh dont worry, I'll fucking do it darling" drinks his vodka and gives one of the greatest recorded performances he has ever done. We will always love you Freddie. No vocalist even compares to your talents
@@karenmathieson3565 Actually your wrong, I don’t wanna be a downer but he was diagnosed in 1987 (you can look it up) and live aid was in 1985 and even though he had was ill during live aid (he had a cold) he still went on to perform the greatest performance ever! But he did think he really had aids in 1986 only to be confirmed one year later. I can see where you are coming from though as in the movie they did say he knew he had HIV aids before. They also got other things wrong in the movie as well but it doesn’t really matter as the movie was great. The music is brilliant and Freddie will always in my eyes be the best singer in history and Queen being the best band in history
Olajuwon Ayo-Omobo we all wish we could, I always think of him when I listen to his song “Only The Good Die Young” he did pass too soon wow I could have met this legend before he left too soon🙏🏼😭😓
For me, Brian May’s guitar is the most heart wrenching aspect to this song. Freddie’s part is actually quite uplifting almost like a thin veneer of artificial cheerfulness, but those guitar riffs towards the end are like the tangibility of their collective sorrow. THAT is what they’re all truly feeling and it gives me chills every time I hear it…
That guitar riff wrecks me every time. I wonder how many times he had to play it through to be able to perform it without the emotions becoming too much.
Goodness, I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. Like you said, listening to and watching Freddie is sad, but uplifting at the same time, because his positivity and strength consoles you. He still had that same familiar playfulness and uncanny ability to comfort, to make you feel safe, and it shines through for us, even at the end. But when Brian begins those riffs, it literally sounds as if the Red Special is actually wailing and crying for what's about to happen to that beautiful, genius of a human being. And it's almost too much. There will never be anyone else like Freddie. And I don't think I'd want there to be. He was music itself. So, in a way, he'll never die.
Why does everyone care about Freddie I honestly think because Freddie's dead everyone's caring for him and that's OK and all but no one notices how good Deacy roger and Brian are
@@matildaproctor8439 same with xxxtentacion or however its spelt , I never heard of him and no one in my school or my friends listened to his music until after he was killed
The year Freddy died in 1991. I was 24 years old that year and on the verge of the golden age of youth, living in the "now". Too young to look back with a smile and a tear. Queen was always one of my favourite bands. This song is so touching, especially now that I'm getting older myself and dealing with the deaths of close relatives in recent years. When I look back, the memories of times long gone become more and more clear. Some are bitter but much more are sweet as Freddy sings. And all the bitter and sweet is so beautiful in this last song of Queen and all the band members carry it with strong emotions, knowing that Freddy will not be with us much longer. Thank you Freddy for being there, for sharing your talent.
28 years ago, on 24th November, 1991, an angel was called home, and that angel was Queen's legendary frontman, singer, songwriter, multi- talented, and hero, Freddie Mercury.
What gets me is when Freddie looks at the camera at the end and says I still love you. Its as if those were his last words to every Queen fan. Rip Freddie
The hard part of that was not finding out until much later. I was in elementary/primary school at the time and everyone was gutted by the news including our teacher who was a big fan
I was privileged to see Queen at the Wembley Live Aid concert in 1985. Freddie delivered an iconic performance that mesmerises audiences to this day. Freddie, we still love you!
Ciclopea2 I've been watching him more than usual lately. I was only 1 when he died, I wish so badly I could have been around to watch him. But at least we still have his music.
No one can ever replace Freddie. His voice was unique, that’s why he never fixed his teeth (braces). He thought it would change the way he sang. Just think of what Queen could have done with the music industry. Never goodbye, it’s “see you later”. Never forgotten, always remembered . 🎶 ❤️ 🎶
Brian’s smile at the end showed pain. This must have been the hardest thing to ever do in their lives. I hate that I wasn’t alive when Freddie was. He is so inspirational and just plain out fantastic. This is the most emotional non emotional song ever. Genuinely my favorite song. “I still love you” 😭❤️🥀 but he isn’t really dead. His music, voice, personality, smile, etc. still live on!!! WE STILL LOVE YOU TOO
I’m 10. I love Queen so I shared “radio Gaga” with some of my friends... they didn’t like it... we are not friends anymore.. just kiddin, but I was so sad when they didn’t like it! 😩
Colene Olleres one day we will invent a backwards time machine or something to bring people who have passed away back, and Freddie will be first on our list

He shot his scenes later in the year, as he was on tour and couldn't be there. At that point, Freddie would have been in far worse shape. He looked so heartbroken.
Freddie was one of a kind, he did not make music he was the music. You can see the sadness in his eyes, he knew his time was short and this was to be his last song. The life style that he loved so much killed him but his dying at such a young age and at the top of his game has made him a true legend. He is now forever young. I've been listening to his music for most of my life, well over 50 years. It never gets old only better.
I know alot of people here are sad because Freddie died, but instead we should be happy he was here. And even though I was born after he died I was lucky enough to have parents who raised me well.
I was literally just thinking. I was born in ‘01, and was lucky enough to have been influenced by the generation that Freddie, MJ and Prince. Iconic🔥👑🥰
He passed when I was ten and remember learning there are gods living amongst us and how they shake the world, be glad you lived on a rock that had David Bowie on it too
This was Freddie's last appearance on camera, just a couple months after making this he passed away. Freddie could barely stand at this point, but when the cameras rolled he still found the strength to perform, to give one last gift to the world.
Show must go on. It seems like this song is anthem of all the people in terminal state of illness that still find it in themselves to use every single day, hour, minute and second of the time they have left.
Brian May once commented on this song and the video. "His saying Goodbye in this video. His saying Goodbye to his Family, to his friends and most especially to his fans." 😭
@This is my B00Mstick no. His last song was Mother's Love. Brian May sang the last verse of the song because Freddie died before it was finished. And the colored version is not aa leaked video. It was part of the "Days Of Our Lives" documentary by Queen. It that documentary they said lots of things about their journey up to Freddie's death. They also expressed their anger to the man who took pictures of Freddie looking pale and Roger calling the man a "wanker". They also talked about in the video how they protected Freddie during his last years of fighting aids. Saying "F*ck you" to reporters who repeatedly asks about Freddie's real condition at that time. And lastly the most hearbreaking part is when Roger cried while telling the interviewer about Freddie's last hours and how he was not able to make it to come to Freddie's side moments before he died. 😭
Love of my life: “ To remind you how I still love you, I still love you...” Radio Ga Ga: “ Someone still loves you...” These are the days of our lives: “ I still love you “
Especially Brian at the end...he tries to smile but he looks like he is holding back tears :-( For anyone who jad lost a loved one to this or cancer or similar wasting illnesses, it kills you every day to see the once vibrant and healthy person being wasted away by cancer or AIDS :-(
It’s been 30 years next month that Freddie had passed away, we will also love his and queens music, blessed with a beautiful voice, we love you too Freddie
I remember exactly where I was when the news broke....my parents were in the local cosy pub and myself and my older sister would be upstairs chilling out. We were both in tears! He was a class act and meant so much to the British people, he was full of charisma in his own very shy unique way!❤❤❤
In 1976, I was 5, in a bank with my mom was the first time I heard Bohemian Rhapsody for the first time and fell in love with the song. Since my mother and father didn't listen to Queen it took me years to figure out who it was that sang it. I was 12 and the first album I bought was Queen's greatest hits at Cavages in the Thruway Mall and played the crap out of it. I remember seeing Queen advertised coming to town for a concert, and I wanted to go, but my father wouldn't let me. I swore the next time they came I was going. But there was never another show 😔 In 2007, I won a trip to go see the play- We Will Rock You in Ontario Canada little did I know Queen was playing the music while the performers sang. Though I never saw the band with Freddie, I did at least get to see and hear them play. My favorite band for all time.
"You can't turn back the clock, you can't turn back the tide.. ain't that a shame?" and the close-up to Freddie's face, brings me to tears every single time..
I've always believed that this video was Freddie's way of telling all of us goodbye and that he loved us all.

:((
Yes, he had wound on his feet, and for all time when he was singing this he felt pain
At that time Freddie was barely able to stand up. And he still made this clip. What a legend!
John could have offered his seat
Freddie probably didn't tell Decay nor any of his bandmates
Mr Jojo Red Cat he did
He did. If you watch the documentary on the making of this video, Brian said Freddie had a couple of vodka bottles on the video set. Freddie would have a couple drinks of vodka before a take, prop himself up at the mixing desk with the mic, and, to quote Brian, Freddie would "go for it."
Nagy Norbert yep!
3:57 He had his last bow.
3:58..... "his last words.. probably his best and most beautiful way of saying goodbye.....

Why do i always come across this comment during that part of the vid
It was phisycally his last words
His last word is love ..on Mother Love.
This was definitely him saying "Goodbye," to us. How brave and courageous he was.😢😢
That smile at 0:52 breaks my heart. R.I.P Freddie, you’ll live forever and your voice will ring out throughout the ages, long after we’re all gone. Why couldn’t there have been a cure, too many people have lost their lives to that horrible illness.
WallStreetBlues There still isn’t a cure for AIDS.
I felt that too. This video hurts.
That smile , his movements his passion his personality shines through in this video. He was of the best performers. It's not sad guys, it's a celebration of a truly wonderful song.. The 4 of them looked happy in this video.
There is no cure to this day, there are only life extenders that makes you live longer but not normally
Of course people under treatment live normally. Learn more.

Oh my god 😞😞😞😞😞😞😢
And mother love was his last recorded song which he couldn't even complete
@Reo Tries that's not true. Brian said he was too ill to complete it. So Brian completed it. But Freddie died 6 months later.
He was so sick, and he knew his time was coming to an end, so he told the boys " I want to do as much as possible ", so they recorded at all hours of the day and night to accommodate how Freddie was feeling. This song is beautiful, but when you think of the circumstances, it makes it that much more special !!!

And layers and layers of clothes to disguise the fact that he was so wasted away.
You can see the sickness in his face. Can’t imagine how Roger Brian and John felt watching him deteriorate like that. So sad. What legends.
area3eventing
Yes they were.
Yeah
Despite his sickness, he looks even more attractive. For me he is the most handsome at this video. The last. The best.

I don't think anyone was any the wiser about that. It was difficult but he kept his illness well hid during the Headlong, IGSM, and TATDOOL videos.

For me, Brian May’s guitar is the most heart wrenching aspect to this song. Freddie’s part is actually quite uplifting almost like a thin veneer of artificial cheerfulness, but those guitar riffs towards the end are like the tangibility of their collective sorrow. THAT is what they’re all truly feeling and it gives me chills every time I hear it…
I agree!
That guitar riff wrecks me every time. I wonder how many times he had to play it through to be able to perform it without the emotions becoming too much.
Beautifully put.
That guitar solo is just amazing, unmatched
We're still loving you Freddie in 2024
