The end of CL presentations from you will be missed my many but the wisdom of your advanced method to move a golf ball from point A to B will stand for ever
I’ve learn so much from you on this journey about CL and the benefits of it but also the knowledge to understand my golf body more and it’s function and the golf ball in general
Your creation is ahead of its time and until it was seen on the mind control device...TV ...the sheep would never believe it because the TV said so ...what fools they are
Thank you so much JH for what you brought to the for front to us who were wise enough to listen and understand

      Hi Steve,
Hopefully the 'Sheeple' will see the 'Light' down the road .. CL just works.. you just have to open your mind up to change from traditional doctrine ... one day some prominent Swing Teacher will stumble across one of my CL videos and say .. ' 'Hey ...this guy knew what he was talking about'.. I know that will happen ..

IMO and at 80+ I’ve seen it all and played with some of the best players in the game over the last 50 years or so… your CL has brought together elements of the Martin Ayres “ twirl” & George Knudson extreme inside takeaway… well done… is the Golf Swing of the Future 👏👏👏

      Hi Pat,
You having been a good player.. and clearly having a good swing process yourself..its good to hear you endorse CL as an alternative swing process .

hey JH! i totally understand what you mean. i'm full into channel lock now and I practice at a very busy range and i get a lot of confused looks. but nobody has offered free advice yet, perhaps because they see how well ive been hitting it. i see all the new players struggling so bad, even the ones who were just taking lessons from the pros right next to me, and i think to myself "if only they could open their mind to channel lock, they'd pick up golf so much faster and enjoy it so much more". it's just an easier swing to understand and master. and it feels more intuitive if you just give it a chance. im 39 and hitting longer than i ever have, just because the of the purity of my shots.

@@1atomicgolf I hear you loud and clear, JH. I tried for months to get some of the guys in our men's golf group to try CL, knowing that they would see significant improvement in their ball striking. Of the 12 or so guys that I suggested try it, two gave it a go and one actually stuck with it. The rest are too stubborn (or perhaps happy shooting 95). Anymore I only discuss CL if someone asks me about the technique, which usually begins with "Where the #$#? are you aiming?" or "Do you realize that you're playing everything off your back foot?" Interesting conversations often ensue. Take care, amigo. I wish you all the best.

JH, thank you for all you have done to promote Channel Lock. It has been an amazing three years and has completely changed my golf game. The only time I play poorly is when I violate one or more of the protocols. I too, have had resistance from my golfing buddies about changing their golf swings to the CL method. Their loss. Sorry to see the series end but I completely understand. I plan to continue to use this method to the end. I will continue to frequent your Channel regardless, as you are the Library of Congress for golf knowledge. Again, Thank You so much. Dan

Hey, J.H. I'm a little late to the farewell party, but I wanted to respond, nevertheless. I took up Channel Lock a couple years ago because I had a severely Arthritic left hip, and could no longer move my weight to the left on my downswing. Channel Lock kept me out on the course. A couple years later, I have had the hip replaced, so it's no longer an issue. However, I still do Channel Lock because it's just a more reliable--and consistent--way to swing the club, especially for a codger like me (I'm 73). Thank you J.H.

      Hi Don,
This video..ua-cam.com/video/qWODpZ74Wpg/v-deo.html is general overview of Channel Lock swing principles and required protocols, it will give you a general understanding of the geometry/ mechanics of the swing type.
On my channel there is over 100 videos about channel lock, unfortunately they aren't chronologically sequenced.. but generally they are 'historically' listed on the channel.
Just type in Channel Lock into the search bar of the UA-cam channel and it should take you to Channel Lock specific videos.
The swing is very different to traditional swing mechanics, but I believe its actually easier to use because of the non negotiable back foot ball position requirement .that ball position will always have you in the correct consistent address position.

Thanks again JH for keeping me in the game of golf with my injured lead leg. Waiting for 8 months for the
cartilage in my lead wrist to heal. If you have any thoughts how I can swing CL and not rotate my wrist I would like to hear your advice. I'm going to close the face a few degrees and see what happens.
Since starting CL I have won a tournament on a course that I had never played before. After it held a U.S,
Open qualifier the day before. I had two sub par rounds at the course I play and two hole in ones back to back on the same hole.
Thank you for always responding on all my questions and for all your fine videos, CL and DVC.
I remember back in 1991 when I went to Tampa and Jack K. introduce many of us golf teachers to the
Moe Norman single plain swing and he said it would take time for it to catch on. CL will catch on with the
fine teachers teaching CL. Thanks to Mr. X, Steve Walters, Mat Gray, Rene and MMI golf for their instructions.

    • @1atomicgolf
      @1atomicgolf  4 роки тому

      Hi Ray,
Back to back hole in one's is impressive.. what you could do to take the pressure of your wrist is to substitute a hinging' action of the wrists instead of a 'cocking' action of the wrists ..
There is a lot more longitudinal stretching of the ligaments in the wrist with a cocking action than that of a hinging action ..
A Hinging action is simply that of what occurs when you use a paintbrush in a sideways lateral brushing motion .. the back of the trail wrist moves directly towards the front of the forearm .. virtually a 'slapping' motion with the trail hand palm .. and a 'backhanding' motion with the lead hand as a physical understanding ..
I am actually a 'Hinger' and not a 'cocker' of the wrists .. I converted to that process a long time ago because of the number of balls I used to hit in practice and my wrists used to get tendonitis because of the cocking strain on my tendons.
Give the hinging a try. I think you will be surprised how strong an action it is and how it doesn't put undue pressure on the wrist tendons ..
      cheers JHG

      @@tomallison1213 Hi Tom,
I wouldn't go doing anything with a new shaft in your newish model Driver .. if you can borrow a 5 wood or hybrid shaft from a Pro shop or retail golf shop and try that length out ..
It takes quite a lot of shots to dial in the timing and 'lightness' of feel a significantly shorter shaft creates in a modern driver ..
The head will 'feel' lighter bigtime initially when you swing a much shorter driver .. but the reality is that the headweight is exactly the same as it was with the longer shaft .. you haven't altered the head weight at all ..
The clubhead will 'feel' lighter because the club has an entirely different 'balance point with a shorter shaft .. that feeling will dissipate as you hit more balls .. it took me around 60 hits to get the head feel I needed with the shorter shaft ..now if I pick up a normal length driver it feels like a sledgehammer ..
As well initially you will probably lose some distance because you will be still trying to set up with the short shaft as to do with a normal long shaft .. you don't stretch out at all with a short shaft .. you get the grip as close to you as you can and swing as you would an iron ..
The extra speed you can swing your arms is because your balance is so much better offsets the loss of swing radius you lose with a shorter shaft ..
But the major plus is the accuracy you gain with the shorter shaft .. ... it takes time to build a short driver swing .. but it's well worth the time and effort .. I could never go back to a normal length driver ..

The second was Channel Lock, that has provided me with a level of consistency I've never been able to achieve before.
I completely understand your point here. Golf is sort of a religion for a lot of folks. I mean, just look at all the hate Bryson Dechambeau stil gets because he dares to be too different than the 'norm'. I know people that still think he is just a 'goof', even though he has proven himself on tour.
I believe it was Jack Kuykendall who said " If you build a better mouse trap, the world will beat a path to your door, but not when it comes to golf"
I don't see myself playing anything other than CL mechanics from now on either.

Ok JH. Well, I’m disappointed but I can say that I do understand I think. I don’t like it but it is what it is. It
was just so exciting to be a small part of something that was fun and made me feel like I was a golfer for the first time in my life. A very small part of a movement. It felt like a secret club of sorts. I’m laughing on the inside. But there is truth in it. It was soooo fun when all the momentum was in it. I enjoyed the process so much and our Maylocks. And now all the “leaders” are gone or going away. It’s just a bit sad for me and I know at least one other will feel the same way. But at the same time I want to thank you and the other former leaders/followers in that secret club for the fun and success I’ve had because of Channel Lock.
Whoever it was that said all good things must come to an end really knew what he was talking about. But it’s a sad day for me. But I will continue my channel lock journey and I’m so grateful. Thank you again. Cheers!

It is so different from the conventional swing and I think it would have been useful if you had done some videos , perhaps with Mr X, playing on some courses - to show what channel lock can do ! If people see you recording respectable scores this would help enormously. Some people lack imagination and cant really see your shots on the range. Come back occasionally!

The reality is there are many ways to move a golf ball around. This way will work great for some and not for others. Every golfer needs to do the work and experimentation to find his or her way. Then at some point the experimentation stops because they've found it, then that's when you actually can start playing golf.

JH, I always hoped you would do a video with a camera above you and one in front, with lines on the ground, so we then could get a better visual of CL. Learning from videos is never as easy as a personal lesson, so those sorts of video tricks and things such as shot tracker really can help, especially with a radical change in mind such as CL. It may be easier to do on a inside range rather than where you usually work. I hope one day you will find someone who can help you with a little project like that.
To get CL to a wider audience I think a little marketing and gloss are definitely required. All the very best mate.

      Hi William,
CL will by way of general evolution surface down the road within the World teaching arena.. someone will work out 'why' no traditional/conventional swing can produce a guaranteed 'starting direction for a golf shot ..
At least I know within myself I have worked that mystery out and I will have that knowledge .. and Golf Swing repeatability playing itself out for me for the rest of my golfing days..
There is enough detail of the CL swing mechanics/principals etc in the many videos I have on my UA-cam Channel .. any true swing enthusiast that really wants to learn CL can do that by a studious commitment to the visual and verbal explanations I extoll/demonstrate in those videos .. its'all' there.. it only requires commitment to understanding what I have done in those videos ..
I liken my CL videos to that of how 'Textbook' information is uptaken .. the initial readings of textbooks are not immediate understanding uptake experiences .. it's only after subsequent readings that the information starts to sink into the general understanding ..
Any Textbook I have ever read on any subject matter has only really started to resonate the subject matter understanding within in me after the 3rd or 4th reading .. sometimes the 5th/6th..
Whereas I won't be doing videos anymore specifically relating to the CL swing mechanics/geometry etc.. I will be blending as much as possible of the mechanics/geometry into traditional/conventional type Golf Swings that I will be talking about .. I believe in the geometry/mechanics so strongly that I will be 'unofficially' plying the general principals of CL where they 'can' be integrated into traditional type Golf Swings ..

Apply CL correctly and you totally eliminate those types of shots ..
I cannot hit a genuine drag or pull shot with CL mechanics .. not possible ..
The perfect indictment of a great swing coach not being able to eliminate dragged or pulled shots was De la Torre.. when Moe went off in 2002 to De Le Torre's swing process he would hit the occasional pull shot .. Moe just brushed it off as being new to the process .. it wasn't the 'newness' of the process.. it was the 'Process' itself ..

When you backcock and corrall your head are you thinking about keeping your lead arm straight through the backswing and through contact with the ball? I have a tendency to hit them fat sometimes with back ball position just wondering if that has to do with not keeping lead arm straight enough i might be getting chicken wing what are your thoughts on that and any ideas to fix hitting fat shots and fixing chicken wing? Thank you for all the video's.

    • @1atomicgolf
      @1atomicgolf  3 місяці тому

      Hi Allen,
Actually believe it or not.. you will probably eliminate hitting the ball fat just by moving it 'further' back in your stance than you currently have it now.
You may think the ball is back far enough at present but with the CL swing being so different from a conventional swing ball positioning requirement its hard to convince yourself the ball should be as far back as it needs to be.
Just try putting the ball further back in your stance at address.. I would bet you are not positioning the ball back far enough at address at the moment.. which is totally normal when trying the CL swing because positioning the ball as far back as the CL swing requires is just so foreign for the brain to accept.
If you think about where a 'Chicken Wing' action occurs in a normal golf swing.. its past the center of the body.. you will never be in that position with the CL swing at impact because the ball is positioned behind the centerline of the body at impact.
I have no intentional feeling of trying to keep my lead arm straight through impact.. I don't have to because the rearwards ball positioning of the CL swing ensures the the lead arm will not be breaking down through impact.
      Cheers JH

Hi JH, I’ve got one final question to ask you and I hope you will answer it for me regarding channel lock. The question is why do I sometimes have better ball striking and flight from a square stance with no trail foot drop back and sometimes it’s better with my trail foot drop back or foot flare? It seems like on certain days I can do better with one or the other but not with both. I have become very aware of the club face when I grip the club. I have to close it down a good bit to keep from over drawing the ball when I hit it. I thought I had found the holy grail of channel lock a couple of weeks ago but now I realize that I have not. What I have found out is that if I close that club face down when taking my grip and aim left far enough I can tame the over draw somewhat. It just seems that I am going back and forth with Channel Lock. One day it works with a certain grip and stance and setup then the next day I may have to use a completely different setup. I practice a lot but it just seems that I have to keep changing what I’m doing each time I hit balls to get good results. It’s one way today then the next day it doesn’t work so I have to hit ball after ball to figure out what’s going to work on that day. I’m not giving up on CL because I believe it’s the best golf swing that there has ever been but I guess that’s just the way it’s going to be for me unless you can shed some light on my situation.

Invariably inconsistency with shot quality from day to day is caused by a difference in ball position at address .. in all the lessons I gave over the years to rank and file golfers.. inconsistent ball position was significantly prevalent in the great majority ..
You only need a small difference in ball position at address to get a significant knock-on effect to the swing geometry and dynamics .. visual perception of where the ball is fed back to the body in its structural positioning needs..
As well balance factors are effected and loadings will change accordingly which will additionally send differing feedback messages to the bio-mechanical response mechanisms ..
You really need to be very diligent in setting up geometrically precisely the 'same' every time you address the ball .. find a way of ' knowing' when you have the ball positioned at address correctly.. that will be when you are hitting the ball as you want to .. devise a methodology to 'know' when the ball is in the correct place at address.. and absolutely adhere to that procedure/mechaism every time you setup to hit a shot ..
Be cognisant of how your head is positioned at address.. don't 'tilt' it forward or backward.. 'tilting' the head skews the eye girdle and can effect visual acuity feedback as to where the ball is in reality positioned .. you can have your head 'turned' towards the back of the ball at address .. but do the turning perfectly horizontally .. ..
I used to have a standard line I used with all students .. The only difference between a good shot .. and a not so good shot.. is that you didn't do what you did for the good shot with the not so good shot''. and it's really that simple ..

If you are hitting the ball Fat with the irons I would just suggest keep moving the ball back until you stop hitting the ground first .. that's what I do with people that hit the irons fat ..
With the driver if you are getting again a variable result it would normally relate to the shoulders not being kept closed on 'every' shot at impact ..
If you move the ball up from around the trail foot position you are defeating the beside the body Channel geomewtry of the swing .. every shot with the driver should 'start' out to the right initially .. every shot .. and then the ball should track back to the targhet .. how much it moves out to the right depends on the amount of face closure you have on the clubface at impact .. it must be closed all the time at impact ..

Question...is it absolutely advised against having a forward shaft lean at address with channel lock? Asking because that is what feels most comfortable and natural for me and it’s working pretty well. I use a strong grip which keeps the club face closed automatically and combined with the forward shaft lean it feels best for me. When I take away the lean, it feels so awkward and uncomfortable. Curious what your thoughts are on this?

    • @1atomicgolf
      @1atomicgolf  4 роки тому +1

If you can achieve a ball trajectory that is acceptable with the hands forward and a back foot ball position it's absolutely ok to swing that way ..
I personally just find my ball flight becomes to flat for my liking if I have to much forward lean on the shaft at impact..and as well for me it tends to get my clubface to open at address/impact.. but that's just me .. if you get the ball flight you are happy with by applying some shaft lean ..go for it.. its all about what 'works' for 'you'..

For example, George Zankas is teaching a very unusual golf swing, which is clearly NON traditional. But, he also has a student, Matt Wolfe, who is a PGA Tour winner. Bryson DeChambeau is another example of a very successful player with a non traditional swing. In the end, does the ball end up at the target that you chose?? I think that, in time, folks will be attracted to your TRULY Galilean and unconventional approach. After all, WHO wouldn't want to hit it LEFT??
