This is the second extended "roundtable" conversation we held in the VICE office, this time focused on women's rights. Watch the shorter version here: ua-cam.com/video/LVXWPjxbLEY/v-deo.html You can also watch our previous debate, exploring how black conservatives and black liberals view American politics, right here: ua-cam.com/video/HGAsMtcPy_c/v-deo.html
The issue I and numerous other's have with this round table is OBVIOUS! Seriously, you had just ONE person there who voted for the President. Secondly, this group of individuals DOES NOT REPRESENT the US as a whole, it's evident because we have a Conservative President. The only way to resolve any issues is to have a balance and I noticed as soon as you mentioned the President's name "Trump" almost every person there groaned or made a face. This would not be a reliable consensus at all. The only young lady who wasn't biased against normal thinking was the Trump supporter.
@@MessengerRising The question is not when it is happening but who will be in it. If they rush it and fill it with all soyboys then it'll be shit. Get some people on like Dr.Jordan Peterson, Dr.Warren Farrell, etc so that the serious shit doesn't get glossed over.
“I’m not denying anything. I don’t have that much knowledge of it. So I’m listening, and I’m learning” I feel like if there is one core thing to take from this video it is that one statement because it speaks volumes.
I agree and I also admire those women for that because trans women's rights are often disregarded MASSIVELY in the republican/conservative wave of politics so, as an LGBT woman and supporter, it really hits that they wanted to be informed and learn about the problems so many strong women face daily.
Except she said this and they all continued to silence the trans woman. It’s all very well acknowledging your ignorance if you do nothing to address your structural privilege.
This is the first panel I've seen where no one aggressively dominated the conversation, everyone got equal voice time, and everyone seemed to actually respect each other, what a great mix of people! So much was said, and with such clairvoyance, I was able to really hear it. I was at ease and engaged the whole time. When other panels get heated, it stresses me out. I felt like I learned a lot on this one. Well done! 💙

I’m gonna have to somewhat disagree. The young woman in the red jacket sitting in the front row talked over people a lot, at times cutting them off and raising her voice to better control the conversation by drowning out other people’s voices, and by extension their opinion.
Tbf it’s also how the series is produced and edited. They take out anything boring or irrelevant so it could see one side dominates but can also be one side just not being good at debate
@usa girl excuse me? It sounds like you don’t know the definition and meaning of the black lives matter movement the movement is to spread awareness and get justice for police brutality victims and hate crime victims it’s equality not superiority

I have no clue how she wasn't challenged more on her views, they're crazy! The representation thing is mostly about men who are in charge that know nothing about being a woman and still are in charge of deciding what happens with us. Having females on the board would at least help provide insight on what we need and want. It doesn’t make sense to rule over somebody who you don’t relate to
The problem is, as presidential candidates they're not allowed to be open minded. They have to be "on brand" for what their campaign is already about, otherwise they'll lose supporters. Hell, they don't even nod when others are speaking because they can't agree to shit. The way things work is too corrupt for it to be like this sadly.
I would’ve been much more interested in hearing these Individuals reconvene 4 years later, than the most recent version of this debate. This was a thoughtful discussion where everyone shared and listened. I felt like I came away with away new knowledge and questions for myself. The most recent version had a chaotic and hostile vibe to it. Very divisive instead of trying to foster a conversation.
I don’t believe she meant what she said about voting for him as a “joke.”Even though she tried to recant that statement, I believe she intentionally voted for Trump. It was right after she said it that she immediately felt condemnation from other ladies, therefore, she blurted out this nonsense of voting for him as a joke. She wasn’t true to her beliefs and seemed more concerned about what the other ladies thought of her. I voted for Trump the 2nd time around and I have no problem admitting it. People pleasers do not belong in these types of conversations..
@@2expressmranderson I couldn’t agree more. I might vote for a woman someday down the road, but she must be worthy of a vote and must put The People first. Hillary would have been a nightmare of a president, IMO.

@mar not necessarily. On a large scale that is true, but it is very possible to have a libertarian socialist system when you are dealing with small groups, the authoritarianism only becomes necessary and inherent to socialism once the group in question exceeds a hundred people or so.
I agree. She was able to articulate her views very well. In fact, I liked how this conversation went. We need more of this because the more it devolves into screaming and anger the more ppl can label women as crazy and irrational. It's better to have allies than enemies.
The woman in the yellow jacket did right by calling out the clown in black to her right who approaches voting as if it's a silly joke. In fact, every time the woman in black spoke I lost more faith in humanity.

i LOVE the woman with purple hair! im pro-choice but the way she put down her pro-life views was fantastic. she didnt shame women. she did make it a negative. she didnt call it murder. she said “i understand why women do it, how can we try and stop this from happening” what a fantastic take! she’s definitely my favorite out of the group.
It's sad that this is refreshing. It used to be the case that "pro-choice" people wanted abortion to be "safe, legal, and rare." I want all of us to try to minimize the need and incidence of abortion, regardless of our various stances. That shouldn't be an ideological issue.
That’s because “Feminist for Life” don’t get any media play. Their mesg is rarely heard. If you think she’s great. This talk from the president of “Feminist for Life” is beautifully amazing!!! Such an honest convo without shaming or berating others.
ddlyify that’s true. There are more abortions among the black population in New York City than there are live births. There seems to be a disregard for protection and safe sex. Abortion would not be a huge issue as it is now if we went to the root of the issue. And there are a lot of issues that should be solved by tackling the roots instead of the aftermath. High crime rates in minority communities? Police reforms are one response, but a much better one would be increasing education quality for children there and increasing community works and employment.

I rarely comment on videos but wow I'm just in awe of the woman with the purple hair. I'm pro-choice but her argument is so thorough and respectful and I find myself not disagreeing with her on some points! We need more conversations and decisions with people like her.
absolutely and I love how it's a bit different than we usually see with the inconsistency a lot of pro life women have. she made the point that she's against ALL forms of violence towards someone in the duration of their life time as well as she wanted to look at what causes people to have abortions and not just getting rid of them because she understands that there are things that push people towards that option so let's work on those instead of just saying the only solution is to just ban abortions
I think she had great viewpoint, BUT for people that actually want to keep their kids. You don’t have to be in a terrible situation to have an abortion; There’s nothing wrong with choosing yourself rather than giving up your life to support a child you didn’t want. I think it’s more irresponsible to force someone to have a child than giving someone the option to have an abortion.
I actually think she may not be neurotypical. Especially in the beginning she does a lot of stimming behavior. Not saying that justifies her behavior but it could account for some of her interrupting, rocking etc.
@@lunarforte9515 I don’t agree with her views but did we watch the same video ? Because she wasn’t interrupting anybody and was making eye contact with everyone speaking giving them the floor. Two reasons. One, it's plain honesty, and second, it's a show that she isn't just there to assert her views or support some agenda. She has a differing view from others, and unlike the way most people seem to behave, she's genuinely interested to know why others see things the way they do.

I think you guys are forgetting that the girl in the yellow jacket can address her oppression as a woman of color while being pretty. While she does have pretty privilege it doesn’t erase the struggles of being a woman of color. We don’t know if she acknowledges or not bc that’s not what this discussion is about.
@marissa SHE REALLY WAS THOUGH. Clinton is the problem because of her husband's actions against black people, but we can't mention the fact that race plays a strong part in politics? Hearing her speak was hard to listen to.
This may be the only statement she has said that made sense. The jewish woman was talking about how people on the left physically attack people on the right, then the trans woman said that it's the other way around too because black people are being killed, but that's a totally different subject since racism don't belong to the right and not all black people are on left.
My initial reaction to the young lady wearing the red jacket was “why would they put her on the panel?” But as I dug deeper, the respectability politics and assumption of a monolithic “black community” underpinning that thought really jumped out at me. So the question became, “why not put her on the panel?” Because the reality is that there are black women who think the same way she does. And when I think about the goals and aims of a (black) women’s movement, the desired outcome is to uplift ALL women; not just the women we agree with and deem “respectable.”
this was pleasant to read, you have a great thought process and more people need to understand this, representation, good or bad, is representation. seeing the girl in red will let people understand and know that women like her exist, but they are still women and deserve to actively partake in these discussions because they represent something.
This was a great comment and great point. At first, I was thinking why did they let her on. As I listened I was like oh well hold on a minute, she is making very good points.

The girl in the red jacket at the end - when she said she didn’t raise her hand because she’s listening and learning.. THATS the reason talking is so important. At the beginning, she said she’s sick of just talking but talking is SO important. That’s how we learn.
her comment of being sick of talking was specifically in regards to the feminist movement and how there are constantly a lot of complaints and talk with no meaningful action. Which is a fair thing to claim. There is often times a lot more noise in the front than necessary and a lot less action in the back to solve the issue so the noise just perpetually continues rather than a clear cut approach of problem and solution discussion in a serious logical manner. I think everybody in this comment section is going out of their way to pull things they didn’t agree with out of context and demonize the statement and the individual who said it, though i’m not surprised. I agree with her on the part where we should take more action because actions speak louder than words. They are what really get the ball rolling. But you’re right as taking is equally crucial in forming and sharing ideas
The girl in the red jacket seems like she has an attachment to her father and that’s where her opinions and viewpoints lie. Not thinking for herself and just trying to be like her dad
That’s actually what it was. She seems like one of those kids that look for their parents approval in every single thing they do. Her dad probably spoon fed her what to believe in.

I knew when this video started and she had to throw in ‘the far left’ as why she’s not feminist that she was going to be insufferable. She really nailed it home when she started a response with ‘I’m friends with all men’. Like? 💀
This is the second extended "roundtable" conversation we held in the VICE office, this time focused on women's rights. Watch the shorter version here: ua-cam.com/video/LVXWPjxbLEY/v-deo.html
You can also watch our previous debate, exploring how black conservatives and black liberals view American politics, right here: ua-cam.com/video/HGAsMtcPy_c/v-deo.html
And when is the debate on men's issues happening?
The issue I and numerous other's have with this round table is OBVIOUS! Seriously, you had just ONE person there who voted for the President. Secondly, this group of individuals DOES NOT REPRESENT the US as a whole, it's evident because we have a Conservative President. The only way to resolve any issues is to have a balance and I noticed as soon as you mentioned the President's name "Trump" almost every person there groaned or made a face. This would not be a reliable consensus at all. The only young lady who wasn't biased against normal thinking was the Trump supporter.

Good job releasing the full video so quickly. Keep it up.

That’s because “Feminist for Life” don’t get any media play. Their mesg is rarely heard. If you think she’s great. This talk from the president of “Feminist for Life” is beautifully amazing!!! Such an honest convo without shaming or berating others.
I agree!
ddlyify that’s true.

Now if she would spend some time talking to her prolife people, maybe we could get somewhere
absolutely and I love how it's a bit different than we usually see with the inconsistency a lot of pro life women have. she made the point that she's against ALL forms of violence towards someone in the duration of their life time as well as she wanted to look at what causes people to have abortions and not just getting rid of them because she understands that there are things that push people towards that option so let's work on those instead of just saying the only solution is to just ban abortions
I agree
I loved her too and I didn't expect to at all.

- Metabolism
- Irritability (Embryo doesn't have this)
- Ability to grow
- Evolution (Embryo doesn't have this)
- Self-regulation (don't know if embryos can do that)

@G Rose It's cute that you need to insult me to invalidate what I said rather than offer something with substance.
This may be the only statement she has said that made sense. The jewish woman was talking about how people on the left physically attack people on the right, then the trans woman said that it's the other way around too because black people are being killed, but that's a totally different subject since racism don't belong to the right and not all black people are on left.
No she wasn't, it was trench coat girl, pay attention next time.
I learned so much listening! Please keep speaking

Exactly, and she just sounded very uneducated with the comments she was making about different issues
her comment of being sick of talking was specifically in regards to the feminist movement and how there are constantly a lot of complaints and talk with no meaningful action. There is often times a lot more noise in the front than necessary and a lot less action in the back to solve the issue so the noise just perpetually continues rather than a clear cut approach of problem and solution discussion in a serious logical manner.
