I know the editing and whatnot is pretty lacking - I did this reaction at request of a user in comment and have never done anything like this before. So if you all like this I'll probably put some more effort into my production quality if I keep it up! I just made this and threw it together in about a half hour :)
I will hold off reacting to more until I get a recommendation so I go in a good order that you all think I should do!

I just want to take a moment to recognize Ann Waychoff. We were notified of her passing on 6/29/2020. Originally I posted this under her comment on Song of Myself as it was one of her favorite songs. Pinning this one as well as this was my first reaction and the first comment our wonderful Ann ever left me. It's also still to date my top viewed song so I hope more will see this and remember a soul as beautiful as Ann's with me!
You can find comments just like this one full of positivity, love, and friendship on nearly EVERY SINGLE reaction video up until medical issues progressed recently. When I started this channel it was based off a user comment on another video. I released my first reaction video to GLS and that's where I got my first comment from Ann. She's been here on almost every video since and always felt like one of my biggest supporters.
I'm another who has used the power of Nightwish to get me through many tough times with their emotional and powerful music.
As Nightwish fans let us acknowledge Ann Waychoff's passing in proper Nightwish fashion. My meaning here is to celebrate her life as the journey and celebrate the joy she brought and spread. I make my fellow mechanics listen to the entire Wacken 2013 concert at work at least twice a week. They never will admit they love it.
I used to be a big Nightwish Fan at the time of Tarja. Then Anette came, and for me Nightwish was not really the same. I distanced myself from that Band. Then I found out they had yet another singer: Floor. I listened to her performing, and that changed everything. Like for you, Nightwish was reborn for me. I have to admit: When I heard "Ghost Love Score" with Floor for the first time, I had tears in my eyes. She is amazing!!

Comparing the two versions, at the end of the vocals, Tarja doesn't give the same climax.
Floor changed the final and give a really high note in the end.
After the vocal part, Tarja engages the Diva mode and leaves the stage. Floor stays on the stage and commands the crowd's floorgasm, making it epic.

GLS is a very difficult song to sing. Floor is a sensible woman and full of passion. She sings it with sensibility, technique and passion. Now it's perfect!

I was there and it was like all the songs only were waiting all the years just for Floor.
It was written for Tarja who sang it absolutely beautifully, but my goodness but Floor somehow blows Tarja out of the water.

Floor was asked in an interview why she does not sing operatic more often like Tarja did in older songs. And her answer was "That is only a small part of what I can do." :D

Still remember that day...it was 20th October 2012, when I was surfing on youtube and said to myself, lets check NW after few years of avoiding it. I felt from my chair when I saw Floor Jansen touring with NW in USA. That was hell of a surprise, since I know Floor from AF and Ayreon. Luckily she stayed in NW next spring, and that's it how NW got reborn.

Welcome back bro 😎 Floor Jansen auditioned for her first band "After Forever" in 1996 when she was about 16 and still was enlisted in "De Rock Academie" in Tilburg in her native country The Netherlands. In 2009 that band disolved when a member left because of artistic differences (He became a founding member of "Epica" another symphonic Metalband from the south of The Netherlands). Than Floor started her own band "Revamp" and worked too hard and had a "burn out"(nerveous breakdown or something like that). In 2012 Nightwish called and SMS'd to ask her to replace their second female vocalist Annete Olzon. From "After Forever" I recomend "Monolith of Doubt" live at "Kopspijkers" and from "Revamp" I recomend the song "Disdain" live a "Graspop" 👀👍😁 I saw "beast in Black "open for Nightwish in Amsterdam november 2018 😎 Alsoo check Anette Olzon out in her new band "Dark Element"👍 almost forgot back in the day "After Forever"Floors first band has opened for Nightwish on tour 😜
I actually just realized - Epica was one I turned to in Nightwish's absence and I recently even had watched Epica /w Floor and didn't realize at all until it was recommended to me now that was this Floor! Can't believe I Had already seen that collaboration and not been led into the Floor Nightwish on my own before!

Floor is just a goddess
Floor joined Nightwish midway through the Imaginarium tour. This concert was about six months later, at the very end of the tour.
Now imagine me, coming to this, my favorite song of Nightwish, after a DECADE of not listening to them.
Just around 2013, they played in Denmark. I took my brother to see them. He's a massive Tarja fan, didn't like Annette in Nightwish and didn't want to go. I didn't know Nightwish at all, but I could see the singer was someone called Floor. So he gave in and we went. He was estatic and so was I. He was a fan reborn, just like you. I became a fan! :) Great reaction. Keep it real, mate!
I will never tire from watching people fall in love with my favorite band; or in your case, rediscover their love for the band.

First tarja fan I have seen to appreciate FLOOR, this was the first nightwish song I heard in my life and I have since listened to it hundreds of times and chills every time
There are more of us. I was a crazy Nightwish fan but the moment Tarja left that was it for me. Yet, I am absolutely loving Floor. I still enjoy some of the songs being sang by Tarja better than by Floor, but in the same time there are songs which I prefer Floor singing them. I love them both. :)

Yes, total Floorgasm LOL you should see Floor kill Romanticide it is soooo good! (I also love old nightwish with Tarja but Floor is just so good!!) also, after Tarja was fired, Tuomas was in a bad place and wrote Poet and the Pendulum, you should watch this with lyrics and backstory and Floor bringing all the emotions and the band members keep on checking is tuomas is ok, it is a great performance. Also for new stuff, the Islander live at Tampere and of course The Greatest show on Earth live at Tampere its about life and evolution it is a true masterpiece by Tuomas but you might want to save that and do some shorter songs first ;) You will and already have for some good requests (dark chest of wonders, i also like 7 days to the wolves, and there are so much more good songs with Floor live) greetings from the Netherlands

She's so perfect that most don't even notice how excellent the other performers are, who, let's face it, are absolutely bringing their A-Game (helped by the fact that the song itself is epic and very complex) -- glad to see that you appreciated the multiple facets of this song and performance
Floor Jansen is the is the name of the vocalist you saw in this clip. She has a classical vocal background education and can sing any style she likes from jazz to opera high to growling low. Believe me when i tell you you have not even scratched the surface yet of what she's capable of.
The clip was shot a few months after Floor jointed the band right in the middle of their US leg of the world tour. They asked her to join after tensions between the previous (Anette) vocalist and the rest of the band had rissen so high that they fired her. With close to a year still to go to complete the tour, and their next concert planned 2 day later they, needed a replacement fast. They called Floor because she had toured with them when she was part of the support bands"After Forever" and later "Revamp" on several occasions and they were quiet impressed by her vocals (who would not be?). She only had 2 days, including a flight from the Netherlands to the US, to learn the setlist and only had one rehearsal with the band a couple of hours before her first show and she nailed it. Since they were making a documentary about the worldtour a lot of what happened was recorded. The rumour is going arround that Tuomas and Marco discussed Floor already as a replacement of Tarja in 2005 originally but that they did not wanted to be responsable for the break-up of the band at the time.

Thank you for throwing Monolith of Doubt out there, that's my go to to demonstrate her operatic style outside of Nightwish. That Bb5 she holds for 10 seconds on the album and for 7-8 seconds live gives me goosebumbs every time, and considering she recorded that at not even 20 years old, damn...

All right, seems we got ourselves a new Floorfan :-). Just work through Wacken 2013, Wembley 2015 and Tampere 2015, they are all great recordings and cover different albums. Wacken is still the setlist made for Anette, so the "Imaginaerum" tour. Wembley and Tampere are the new album for Floor "Endless forms most beautiful" with different older songs mixed in. Notably "Poet and the Pendulum" from Wembley which is in my opinion Floors real masterpiece in interpretation.
Have fun, I promise you will be amazed even more by Floor Jansen and Nightwish looks almost like a different band with her, they are all so happy!

Seconded from me. Do those three live concerts, Wacken 2013 first. You will also notice how happy the band is with Floor among them. The 2015 album is probably the most uplifting Tuomas has done.

Think of this, too... Floor only had 48 hours to memorize the entire set for this concert. It was her first with them.
it was like looking myself when i see your reaction. when Tarja left and Anette came in my interest were falling a bit. for me Anette were not the type of singer i like in this sort of music. but when i hear this song again with Floor i was shocked, i couldnt believe what i was hearing, and in an very positive way like many others. And now im looking every Nightwish reaction and i need too listen too this Wacken concert and also the Tampere show every single day. I am totally back in again in the Nightwish world. I think Floor was the perfect fit for Nightwish and for me i cant get enough even i sit every day for the last three years and listen too Nightwish again. Floor bring in everything i didnt know i was missing, i still get goosebumps even i listen too these songs about hundreds of times...
Anette is a great singer, but she doesn't have the power for something like this. Her newer stuff is actually quite good and worth checking out. The Dark Element.

I was right there with you. I discovered Nightwish over a decade ago after hearing Wishmaster on a streaming music channel. I was a big Tarja fan and couldn't get enough of them and the symphonic metal sound crafted by Tuomas. After Tarja left the band, I gave Anette a chance but though she was very good, she wasn't Tarja and didn't quite fit the puzzle known as Nightwish. In the last year I came across reaction videos for this performance of Ghost Love Score and received a "Floorgasm". I still love Tarja, but I now like Floor the best. I missed the last 7 years of an old favorite band also. I have since purchased the 2013 Wacken video and audio collection as well as their Endless Forms Most Beautiful CD to add to my collection. I have searched for and watched as many Tampere and Wembley performances featuring Floor as I could. Can't get enough. Welcome back!

That whole concert is fucking amazing. They did a good amount of old songs like Dark Chest of Wonders, Romanticide, She Is My Sin, Wish I Had an Angel, etc. so they got some of that heavier sound. She killed those songs. She also killed the softer stuff, too, like Ever Dream. And the straight up epic, like Bless The Child.
I think that Floor is the best possible vocalist for Nightwish: she's great at songs written for Tarja and songs written for Anette, and she has a truly metal stage presence.

I'm so, SO glad I saw your reaction! I listened to Nightwish when Tarja was the singer and kinda let the whole band go when Tarja left and never gave them a possibility! (Except The Islander, that shit is epic). I found this performance just randomly shuffling through youtube... My reaction was kinda just like yours, but I literally cried and laughed at the same time from almost the beginning. Just. Wow. Speechless. Breathless. Just WOW! And I'm from Finland btw :D

I was an After Forever fan back in the old Tarja days of Nightwish. I was so excited when she joined, and she has completely transformed the band. Her voice is unmatched, imo, and the band has never sounded tighter or looked happier on stage. Poet and the Pendulum at Wembley 2015 is another must see, as is anything from Wacken 2013. Greatest Show on Earth at Tampere 2015, which is from their first album with her.
She breathes life into Annette songs that they never had for me. Her Poet and the Pendulum is an emotional rollercoaster.
You should definitely check out some After Forever and ReVamp, her previous bands, if you want to kind of see her journey to this point. She has always been phenomenal.
Dude, you are the same as me. Nightwish fan since 1998, stopped following them when Anette came around because she obviously could not sing the old songs. And then 2 years ago I noticed that the lead singer of After Forever is now fronting Nightwish! And since then I have discovered that pretty much every single song she performs, she performs better than even Tarja could. Simply because she is not limited to her soprano. I mean, hell, she is even doing death metal growls on some songs lol. Believe me, you are in for a ride! Also, don't limit yourself to listening to old songs just because you know them. I did that at first. And missed out on some absolute masterpieces. Like "The Greatest Show on Earth" or "I want my tears back".
No worries I'll hit them all soon! It seems like people are recommending some specific ones in unison so I'll hit those first then I really want to get into the new content for sure! Right now I think I'll do Romanticide and then Poet and Pendulum - then I'll probably try one of the new ones :)

I'm an old Nightwish fan too. Hadn't completely forgot about them but they dropped off my music radar awhile ago. I was still into the genre though. Well Floor has resurrected this band for sure. She has been in the metal music scene all her life and now we can all see she deserves the attention she's finally getting.
Their current drummer is the drummer from Wintersun and he is a BEAST!! And Floor is AMAZING!!! 🤘
Her voice has this instant effect on people. 6:50 - for a clear example. It makes me happy to see people realizing how good she sounds.

I have some info on Floor Jansen for you here.
She is married to Hannes Van Dahl, drummer of the Swedish power metal band Sabaton. Together they have a daughter and.....? ( Freja & ...? )
Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 3 octaves (C3 to F6). Re-singing style ranges from opera to screams and grunts. She usually sings in English, in addition she has also sung songs in Dutch, German, Spanish, Finnish, Latin, Italian and Swedish.
Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg with classmates Jacqueline Govaert and Danny Vera, where she graduated in 2003. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she cool singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016.
From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020.

The thing about Floor....name one other band where the beloved lead singer is replaced and even the old hard core fans are amazed and enthralled by the new singer.
I don't know if you remember the band After Forever, but Floor Jansen was their singer before they broke up in 2009.
There have been more changes to the band. After this tour Jukka steped away due to health issues, he handpicked Kai (Wintersun) to replace him. He is still associated with the band, does administrative stuff. Not seen on this video is Troy, who plays many instruments (most prominently the pipes). Good song to see Troy is I Want my Tears Back live from Wacken 2013.

Too bad about Jukka, literally an out of this world drummer! I'll be interested to hear Kai dropping beats, I've listened to Wintersun YEARS ago in my HS years and I remember enjoying them.
Kai Hahto is a pure gangster on the drums. I would never classify anyone as "the best", but I will say that I've never seen better. I do miss Jukka, though. He's such a showman.

Dude, I totally agree with your reaction and your statements. Tarja was good and she started this all with her voice. Anette was different, but also good in her own way. But now with Floor...this is really on a whole new level. She is f***ing perfect for Nightwish.
This was for me a healing session... Just cried my heart out... Must have seen her/this performance a 100 times or so, but seeing an old fan like that got me into the experience deeper than ever. Thank you for your hartfelt reaction, truly appreciate it.

This is one of the first Ghost Love Score reactions I had ever seen and I come back to see it time to time. Amazing reaction and I felt it all, each and everytime.
Old nightwish fan myself. Had the same reaction an remorse. When I rediscovered them. Spent a month catching back up. Fell in love with greatest show on earth. Can't wait till their new album drops next year. Hoping for a concert near by.

Songs....Poet & The Pendulum, The Greatest Show On Earth, I want My Tears Back, Amaranth, Ghost River, Storytime, Weak Fantasy, Yours Is An Empty Hope, Romanticide.
Definitely excited for these! Esp poet and the pendulum, I remember I enjoyed it with Annette but even back then thought I'd love to hear it with a more epic voice like Tarja's so I'm excited to hear Floor on it!

@@ianblack2039 I actually rewatched it last night after I did the reaction and I legit teared up as I focused even more on it without the camera rolling. When i get really emotional around people I generally start laughing and just moving around a lot like in this video.
I remember some of the Anette songs having a notably more emotional Tuomos/sad feel so I wouldn't be surprised to shed a tear or two with Floor's angelic voice behind them!
@@thiccgeek1453 well you certainly picked the right band for emotions. 😂 Dark Passion Play is an emotional album anyway. Well, save I Want My Tears Back until after Poet, as that will get you in high spirits again. Like a party on stage. 😊

I stopped watching Listening a little after Annette and just recently heard Floor a couple months ago and was def blown away. Which is exciting because I love this band
It happened exactly the same. I stopped listening to them when Annete was there and when I saw this same video I went through all the emotions you have been through watching it.
I never get tired of this reaction.

Welcome back to Nightwish. Floor indeed took Nightwish to a whole new level, but for your interest, check out Ghost Love Score from Argentina 2012, if this is good that is Floor at her best, and also from Tampere 2015, that whole performance is absolutely stunning.
This was recommended to me and it's like watching my own reaction as an old fan who also stopped listening to them after Tarja left, then came across this particular performance. Floor is absolutely AMAZING.
Can't wait to see you checking out all of the other songs from this consert. This band has just re-born and imo being the bersion of Nightwish ever.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. im also old nightwish fan who skipped the Anette period completely and never thought id come back to my favorite band. Then Floor came along and here i am fangirling my old favorite band again :). Floor makes Anettes songs better as well so i recommend you Romanticide or Song of Myself next both live at wacken as well. i think those were anettes songs correct me someone if im wrong but they are 1000 times better with Floor if they were :). Elan is song i recommend as well but i do recommend that as official studio version since the music video is beautifully made as well and Floors singing is almost same as it would be live
Thank you! I think Romanticide might be next up, I believe it was a Tarja song originally but I'm still excited to hear it through Floor after this! I might try to do it tomorrow even if I have time! Anette in my opinion just had way too large of shoes to fill for a Nightwish singer, otherwise had a lot of talent. Can't wait to see her songs through Floor now too :)
