We have a bunch more Noclip Sessions dropping over the coming weeks as we prepare for our exciting next round of filming. We can't wait to tell you what's coming up next. It's one of our most requested projects.
I was hoping it might be the witcher, but this makes me think it probably isn't ;). In any case, thanks for the video! The Witcher is my favorite game series.
Just in case you don't know, he already did a documentary in a similar format of CD Projekt Red, but it's located in Gamespot and called: Introducing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Most of my time spent "with" Danny before he started NoClip was via Giant Bomb's podcasts, Quick Looks, what have you. Only so many hours in the day...
I've been waiting for something on CD Projekt Red since this channel started! Thanks to the entire crew at noclip for making this happen (and those of you contributing on Patreon of course) :)
Please include a documentary about GOG.com!! There is not very much on the internet about the inside and people of their company. Btw, that was an amazing session with Marcin already. Thanks!
I appreciate them being so tight lipped about cyber punk simply because when people get the slightest bit of information about anything, the media runs with the tiny big of information and make up their own narrative of how the game is vs what the facts are. CD Projekt wants to tell their own story and not have the media make up the story for them. keep up the good work guys
"DID YOU SAY NO MANS SKY? PRE-ORDERING NOW....." "Oh my god. I accepted way more. I thought we could do everything. I'm disapointed now." I hope people really DON'T set their exceptations too high, even if it's CDPR that made the great Witcher franchise.
Pawel95 exactly as he stated there is pressure because there are a lot of expectations now from them since they have been doing so well and I imagine they are all very nervous about how the game will be received. Better to hold your cards close then pull a Sean Murray.
Pawel95 Even if it surpasses the expectations that most people have a lot of people will still be disappointed and compare every little detail in Cyberpunk to The Witcher 3. Everyone has their own idea of a perfect Cyberpunk game and they won't all be the same.
NMS is a bad example, since the backlash was more over how Hello Games blatantly lied about features existing, than hype making consumer expectations higher.
What a smooth operator. And the shit he and the limited team back in 08/09 must've gone through. What a wonderful epilogue to the video. Great work as always.
Currently playing through the witcher 3 for the first time and my god what have I been missing for the past year and a half, the game is easily the best open world game EVER.
Read the books afterwards, it totally makes the game better, especially finding out more about the brilliant characters (Some you hate, some you love!!!) :).
Thatssomegoodpie Animations I bought it months ago only to come back with goty edition this time because I felt I rushed and burned out on the game. enjoyed this second playthrough more than the first. the expansions are on another level as well which I didn't expect! 50 dollars well spent.
I've been playing through all the witcher games and reading the books because I want to do videos on witcher lore. There is a lot to work through, especially with having so many different paths for the player to take, I'm currently working on the first game, having finished recording the 2nd and 3rd games. And I'm on the 3rd book. I think it's incredible how close Marcin and CD Projekt Red stayed to the source material. I think that is one of the reasons the games turned out so well, but the attention to detail is admirable, and it makes me wish they would take the reigns of other franchises I love because I can't think of anyone who could do them more justice. All too often we've seen a video game that completely destroys the world of its source material, CD Project Red didn't do that, they treated it with incredible care. I think I had grown jaded with video games, especially rpg, for a while and started to find them cartoony and lethargic. Games like Dragon Age that just missed the mark, to Bethesda games that felt kind of stale and childish. The witcher 3 really reminded me of what it was like to feel immersed in these worlds, in the story and the characters. Characters that are so alive and memorable. It is more akin to another book written by Andrzej Sapkowski, the author of the book series, than it is a knockoff series of video games. The gritty world felt so much more adult, willing to handle themes and images other games wouldn't touch. It definitely is like a crossover between a novel and video game to me, much more mature and refined, the kind of game that reminds you video games can be art too. After playing through the first witcher games it's been pretty amazing to see how CD Projekt has grown. I've become a huge fan of theirs. As if making good games wasn't enough, they also treat their fans well by not DLC whoring everything in sight. I look forward to their upcoming games. I hear they even have the same music producer they did for the Witcher 3 on board for Cyberpunk. Thanks for making great games Marcin and CD Projekt team, I'll keep playing them.
That ending is the best ending I ever heard and saw in an interview. You guys make an astounding duo. These twenty minutes felt like a genious improvisation in a very well executed jazz standard.
Recently bought the Witcher 3 GotY edition. I played the main game to death before but never got the expansions. I've decided to play it through completely and so far it's even better 2nd time around. Bunch of feckin' legends.
Varga Dániel A true leader* Bosses are corporate assholes Andrew Wilson looks like a typical boss, ordering people around. Marcin Iwinski looks like a leader people would want to follow.
I'm so happy about CDP success. I remember when I bought CE of the first game, it was immediately apparent that the dev team had immense potential but I never knew they could go to lenghts of making something like TW3. They are by far my favorite dev team now (shame that Squaresoft died...anyone remember that time when they stringed FF9, Front Mission 3, Vagrant Story and Chrono Cross...)
Not sure if you guys still do corrections to the subtitles, but the unintelligible part and it's context around 5:59 is "it's important to just, just to stress that when we started The Witcher 1".
Watching this, and all the other pieces done by this channel on CDPR after cyberpunks release, it really enables me to be way more forgiving of them with the super rocky launch. The amount of work that goes into their games, shit witcher 3 alone, is almost unfathomable. And considering how ambitious they were with their original ideas for cyberpunk its no wonder they had to delay it so many times. I really wish they would have delayed it more and I feel bad for the team for having to cave to the pressure to release it before it was ready.
17:55 "friends are the center of your life" I know its unrelated to context of what they were talking about but: Not only is that good life observation, this is why the witcher has such good stories imo. The friends that geralt has and meets along his adventure, and how he interacts with them. It makes it believable and like a real Human experience even when the world is a bunch of crazy fantasy stuff.
I'm glad you guys got this interview, by far my favorite game developers, for their games and their ideology. (I know I watched this awhile after it was posted...busy life currently). Keep up the good work Danny, and hopefully more on CDPR!!
Watching all of the short doc vids and sessions. I'm also working on watching all of the docs in prep for the new arkane one. They are all so good. I'm gonna become a patron soon.
that's very sad, I feel really bad for him :(( Hope everything goes well somehow. As CEO he is 'responsible' for everything that happens in the company - he has the most nervous position in CDPR. Plus I just can't imagine how investors put pressure on him - everyone wanted this game on time. If CDPR had just a couple of years, I think everything what happened with Cyberpunk just would not have happened. But still this game is beautiful. I really enjoyed it ^ ^ Hope CDPR recovers :*
Very nice that he told the story about his daughter. Being successful also has its price sometimes. And even though he says that she hated him for that, I'm sure she understood it at some point. I hope that it is so, and I wish Mr Iwiński and his team all the best and continued success.
I really, really hope they continue to lead by example when it comes to best in practice customer service and a consumer oriented business model. There isn't an AAA developer in existence who can call themselves their peer. Can you even imagine if EA, Ubisoft, MS or Square Enix followed in their footsteps?
Respect for this guy went from 10/10 to over 9000/10 during this video, with all the troubles during W1 & W2 they managed to create 2 great AAA games packed with shit loads of content, even if it meant risking everything he and his partner got, they just want to make great games, not just profit, I bought 3 copies of the Witcher 3 at full price on every console gaming platform I have (PC, PS4, XB1), not mentioning the copies I bought for my friends just to support CDPR that's how much I loved W3, CDPR is the ONLY developer I trust right now! P.S you never see a CEO talking in this detail about their previous problems, and personal life as normal human beings driven by passion, Marcin feel you have what it takes to save the gaming industry, I'll use GOG exclusively from now on and will spend every extra money on it, Go CDPR! I'll preorder cyberpunk to everyone of my friends as soon as it's possible!
Nice interview. That last reply is apparently true "I'm happy" He looks happy and much healthier. If you go back pre-release of Witcher 3 Iwiński was looking a little rough around the edges, tired and stressed. I hope he can maintain that peace and happiness the closer we get to the release of Cyberpunk 2077. Game development, especially on such massive and ambitious projects like TW3 and CP2077 can be draining. When was this filmed?
This guy is amazing! The witcher documentaries were the ones which made me start watching game documentaries. Kudos to noclip for putting stuff like these out there.
Maybe it's just me, but it really made me feel great when he ended with saying he's happy. It's a well damn deserved for what those people have accomplished and I hope that they all got their big warm fuzzy dose of happiness in return for what they're doing for us (both the Witcher franchise and GOG with its no DRM policy etc). Truly great company.
Come to Poland and drop me a message... we'll get some beer the good stuff, local brew. Your taste buds will explode! Also I'd show you the places that were put into The Vanishing of Ethan Carter it's like a 15 minute drive from my home.

I was hoping it might be the witcher, but this makes me think it probably isn't ;). In any case, thanks for the video! The Witcher is my favorite game series.
so many requests I can't even imagine
A NOCLIP episode on the witcher would be delicious af. I love the shit out of you Danny. You and CDPR.
I'm not high. I just love awesome stuff.
Would be awesome if it was the story behind the original release of Destiny, there's definitely a story to tell there
Please do a full documentary on CD Projekt Red.
PLEASE!! We beg you!!
Just in case you don't know, he already did a documentary in a similar format of CD Projekt Red, but it's located in Gamespot and called: Introducing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Probably when Cyberpunk get released. No point doing it now when they can't and wont say anything about the game. Better wrap it into a Cyberpunk doc.
I didn't know that--pulling it up now. Thanks!
arhn.eu, polish UA-cam's channel is making a documentary movie about Witcher 1. Coming this fall with english subtitles on release =)
I'm very glad Danny quit Gamespot, we wouldn't have these great interviews and documentaries otherwise.
Two thumbs up yet again.

Only so many hours in the day...
Oh shit he quit, I had no idea. I thought that was him talking! I was like, he sounds a lot like Danny from GS.

You have to be joking. I was already on a Noclip binge today, and suddenly something pertaining to CDPR comes out? Mr. O'Dwyer, you are spoiling us!
