I went to Newcastle about 3 weeks ago for a night out and I made sure I tried this road on my way home in the M3. Fucking brilliant, especially with "Loose Fit" on the iPod like this.
From what I remember, and this is going back a fair bit. The clip/show ends with him meeting the car's current owner and basically 'grovelling' to buy it back. "Name your price".... the guy was having none of it. According to DVLA Lookup K38FMC is still MOT'd, Taxed and on the road. :)
Haha I just checked to see if it was still around myself then saw this comment. And looking at the MOT history its done very VERY few miles in the past 10 years. less than 1000 miles a year so it's definitely not been a daily driver. Perhaps Clarkson has bought it back.
I would imagine its not the sort of road that would be very sympathetic if you erm, 'went for it' those things had huge turbos and he is using all of the road in some of the clip. He's being sensible here and I can't blame him.
@@EgoShredder Yes speeding on a public road & then broadcasting it to the nation is a great idea lol He was likely sticking to the limit, but TBH a surefooted AWD motor won't look like it's going as fast as it is because they don't lurch about so much as lesser vehicles do they.
You are not a driver(not to speak racer) if you never were in a Cossie. That extraordinary turbo makes my heart go nuts. It's the most amaizing car I had ever drove. It was just an honour.
This clip always makes the Buttertubs Pass look epic but really its only about a 5 minute trip. Its well worth the experience though. That part about the 'green hose pipe' is something as the drop off the road is quite a few meters deep
The song is just Happy Mondays - Loose Fit, but for the tv they just edit the song and remove the vocal/loop parts of the break etc, so the vocals dont clash with the talking/voice overs. So i doubt you will find the instrumental version, unless there was one released on a B side.
April 2021... Buying a real, imported, cossie... So excited... I'll own one of less than 100 in my country (United States) She'll be owned and extremely operated in West Virginia 😁
Drove this road a few years back in my first car. Car wasn't exactly well suited... Couldn't get out of second gear on some hills. Still a great place.
my dream car, one day i will own you! decent one is 25k upwards and keep rising, this machine ia becoming a timeless classic... having a saph cossie in the past makes me want this so bad!
These are such head turners, mines a group-n replica with 343bhp, its not mine its my dads, but when i see the people i don't like at school who say I'm poor, and i get picked up in the cossie, its good :D Cosworth ftw! Shame there not doing so well in F1
The music and the car make me miss the 90’s twocs, raves and nailing car hopping scallys! Sorry for you insuerance premiums! It was fun at the time, and I did my time so….
A fast Ford from the late 80s/early 90s is truly the pinnacle of motoring. I wish the current blokes at Fords RS division would take a look at some of their legendary works of before, and make the current Focus RS with 4wd (like its meant to be), and make it in Britain (like its meant to be), and maybe a big "fuck off" spoiler on the back of it as well, just for good measure.
You probably already know this since the video is 5 years old, but the song is the 12" single version... can be found on the "Double Easy U.S. Singles" album.
This road looks like it would be a blast in a GT-R. R34, of course, because 90s. As for the music in this clip, it took a fuckton of digging, but the song you're looking for is "Happy Mondays- Loose Fit - Kei's Mix"
He says he had it in the early nineties which suggests he was in his 30's. That doesn't make me feel too bad considering I want one now and Im 24. I will wait then
If we tasked Ford with making a performance car that isn't a Mustang nowadays, they'd give us a base model Edge with some extra badges on it. Oh wait, they already did that.
The first ford was the T, the last sould had been the Cosworth. they are opposites. Cheap against Expensive Slow against Very very Fast Sense against Nonsense Yet both the very very best cars of their era. One at the birth, the other near the death of the personal verhicle.
Thay wanted it for the Rally car so it had to be ther. once the 1st batch of 2500 where bilt to make the FIA happy the wing become a opsion, but if your going to have a Escort Cosworth RS you got to have a big wing its just how it is, funny tho the wing slowed the cars top speed down a fair bit but thats not a problem on a twisty rally stage or even a twisty road like this :)
There are a few folk over here starting to put ford and that other populare v8 engine (Ls1???? cant remeber) into escort cosworth, that imo would be a great engine in that car
@SonofSilas hahahah well you got me there mate! but if i were writing an essay then i might give a shit. thank god you're clever enough to understand what i was trying to say, otherwise there would be some serious confusion going on!!! lol
This car is the F40 of hot hatches. It really is.
Everything Clarkson ever did, this is my favorite bit.

No wonder Jeremy was going so slow if it was someone elses car. Shame..... would have been nice to see it put through its paces!
I would imagine its not the sort of road that would be very sympathetic if you erm, 'went for it' those things had huge turbos and he is using all of the road in some of the clip. He's being sensible here and I can't blame him.

The entire episode is online but he doesn’t show him meeting the then current owner- he definitely did tho, I remember it!
This vid is so great... the atmosphere, the music... absolutely stunning!
My favourite Clarkson segment of all time, the music the car and the road just make it so cool
Amazing 😈
You are not a driver(not to speak racer) if you never were in a Cossie. That extraordinary turbo makes my heart go nuts. It's the most amaizing car I had ever drove. It was just an honour.
same spec as my old one- same age colour and also a lux version. Why oh why did I sell it???? And yes I did take it over Buttertubs. Happy Days.
Went to the buttertubs pass yesterday and what a road, loved every minute of it!
Is Jeremy Clarkson from Yorkshire? wow..... love
I took my 64 plate, Fiesta ST over the pass for the first time a few weeks ago....it really is epic, so good. :D
This clip always makes the Buttertubs Pass look epic but really its only about a 5 minute trip. Its well worth the experience though. That part about the 'green hose pipe' is something as the drop off the road is quite a few meters deep
My absolute favorite car my favorite presenter my favorite show it's like heaven!
I bought Happy Mondays' cd because of this video. It will be my bgm when I finally get the chance to drive a Cossie.
Assuming you can find one with a CD player
That road looks like soo much fun. I would love to drive that!
And the end of clarkson has come, I stand by this is my favourite thing he ever did.
I love escort... Cossie too
was offered a swap of a saphhy cossie for my supra about 6 years back, gutted i didnt do it now :(

Just driven that road today - very fun!
@@elloello_erm From Hawes to Thwaite and back to Leburn via Muker, Reeth etc...
This music and video makes me „homesick“ of the Nürburgring...
Went over this road last week all we could see over the edge was fog. Tan hill is another good road near there with a lovely pub.
It's the 12" version of "Loose Fit" by the Happy Mondays, it's called "Loose Fix".
The most beautiful road ever!
This road. Went there with my mate a few months back. And wow
April 2021... Buying a real, imported, cossie... So excited... I'll own one of less than 100 in my country (United States)
She'll be owned and extremely operated in West Virginia 😁
Congrats mate hope your enjoying it
Drove this road a few years back in my first car. Car wasn't exactly well suited... Couldn't get out of second gear on some hills.
Still a great place.
Do not need to watch this any more, i can just imagine it...
im 17 and looking at one of those for my first car, nobody my age understands how legendary these cars are!
IIHacKerZII yeah, a 1300 fibreglass special. good panel gaps on them i hear.
@bambuskola Yup. All RS Cosworths including the Sierra had power steering
That was my favourite car of all when I was kid in the 90's.
If I had the money I'd buy this and a Sierra cosworth
Must of spend a good 4:00 of that 4:30 review looking at the front left bonnet vent! Great camera work Jeremy, amazing.
my dream car, one day i will own you! decent one is 25k upwards and keep rising, this machine ia becoming a timeless classic... having a saph cossie in the past makes me want this so bad!
God I wish it was £25k for a cossie today. This comment is a time capsule
Just got one well two actually
I went there over the weekend...what an absolutely epic road! I need bigger and better brakes though :D
Only the rear suspension was troublesome and it was the first thing they changed in the WRC Escort.
These are such head turners, mines a group-n replica with 343bhp, its not mine its my dads, but when i see the people i don't like at school who say I'm poor, and i get picked up in the cossie, its good :D

An English Cartman this car is German not British, ford cars haven't been built in the uk for a very long time. (think cortina not sierra or mondeo)
I think that new Focus RS will be worth buying. It will have revolutionary fwd system. I'm looking forward to it actually.
I owned this car in 1993 as the second owner on the V5 Ford motor co being the first wish i kept it!
Shut up clown
I remember my 19 year old cousin Darek wanting one. He never did get one. He's 47 in August. 🤔
That car is so good looking.
Took to this road on the weekend. I was not let down.
this one is still on the road and seems to me only doing about 1000 miles a year
You probably already know this since the video is 5 years old, but the song is the 12" single version... can be found on the "Double Easy U.S. Singles" album.

This is so great. Wonder what he would have to say about a cossie in 2014?
my father wants to buy one, but because I was born, he has to buy something else, still, he buys a sierra cosworth saloon.
god I miss my 92 escort gt.
great vid!!!
He says he had it in the early nineties which suggests he was in his 30's. That doesn't make me feel too bad considering I want one now and Im 24. I will wait then
It's the Perfecto Mix, just been edited for the instrumental bits.
Yes, they make a lot of engines today. They make a lot of premium performance parts as well.
Driving thus road next week
Ford. Bring back the Escort.... and most importantly bring back Cosworth Tuning!
If we tasked Ford with making a performance car that isn't a Mustang nowadays, they'd give us a base model Edge with some extra badges on it.
Oh wait, they already did that.
I love this road...I did it once in my evo
Not even my kind of car, BUT, the cossie has got something about it. Anyway, i love a fast ford. So this ticks all the right boxes for me.
a true beauty!
The first ford was the T, the last sould had been the Cosworth.
they are opposites.

FrightfulAccountant beautiful
@158158cow there is serious fun to be had with a focus st, a friend of mine has a 310 bhp one. fun in its own right but its no escort cosworth!
@RSTBADBOY They made one, it'll be out soon, The new ford focus RS all wheel drive 247hp twin turbo, and coming to north america.
guys please help me, i can't find this exact version of Loose Fit by Happy Mondays anywhere, which version is it?
its the happy mondays, Loose fit is the song name!
please dear god one day let there be a focus cosworth
ur right its not a lancia (its running for a start) id rather have the cossie everytime
Still prefer the look, sound and feel of the old 3.0 Capris
There are a few folk over here starting to put ford and that other populare v8 engine (Ls1???? cant remeber) into escort cosworth, that imo would be a great engine in that car
@GepieNL They do. Ford focus RS.
Am I right in saying this car was banned in Ireland initially as it was too powerful? Some controversy like that?
cosworth 4 ever..from italy!
Anyone know what year this was filmed in?
Does cosworth make any cars/engines today or recently? Someone please tell me I would love to know!
RE: the song... was the right mix ever found?
Great car the cozy
WHat is the song when the cose drives off for the first time
4:14 I CANT AGREE MORE!!
cossay............ =O
Just waiting to 2017 so I can look into getting one...(LHD and all)
Did ya get one? 👍
whats this song? itunes doesnt have it :(
Those engines are amazing......in a mark 2 escort😂
I had an Orion Ghia in Black 1.6 and I regret ever getting it scrapped 🤦♂️🤦♂️
Its the Happy Mondays Can't remember the song.
Did you find the mix?
@SonofSilas hahahah well you got me there mate! but if i were writing an essay then i might give a shit. thank god you're clever enough to understand what i was trying to say, otherwise there would be some serious confusion going on!!! lol
@23chilled now yes, back then?? no. the cosworth has no competition.
i had this car on my scaletrix track not great looking but a great car of its time
@Mr80Sxman Cars today are bogged down with safety and electronics, which adds weight. Plus they are quiet and fuel efficient
Good spot for your burger and fries.Snack tray.
Im not trying ti offend anyone but what makes a 15K escort better than a 2K Impreza with the same power, weight and 4wd?
That is THE car
you'd need millions to insure it. I know of someone who bought one for £1000 and was then quoted £20,000 to insure it!
That's the biggest killer of these cars were their insurance.
i agree
whats the name of the song as hes driving?
I wish they would have brought this car here to the states
Because of the all AWD the rarity and motor I think
Try merkur sierra
+camer81 the motorsport pedigree, it's what makes e30 m3s so valuable, integrales, 3 door Sierra cosworths (especially rs500), etc.
Good old COSWORTH
I hate the spoiler, but I love the car
Anyone know the music????
@coopersx19 How about the VAG? Or was i sleeping when they stopped making money?
