A video showing my Passat. I would have done a better video but the gearbox damage required the clutch to be pressed in, as you could tell when I depress the clutch towards the end of the video. The engine starts well and does not smoke.

After a bit of work to make it legal it graces the roads once more. A better video shall follow in the future. It is fairly stock bar a ZF 4 speed Auto gearbox and electronic ignition.

This is standard bar a 'Bomb' box system. It has a cherry bomb silencer in the middle and a normal silencer at the rear. Personally, it's a little raspy for me, but whatever floats your boat.

This clip always makes the Buttertubs Pass look epic but really its only about a 5 minute trip. Its well worth the experience though. That part about the 'green hose pipe' is something as the drop off the road is quite a few meters deep

You can in a couple of years when import laws hit the 25 year old mark of the car. That said I'll take the 1992 Ford Sierra RS Cosworth 4x4, in left hand drive, of course.
You live in the US that has produced some of the greatest cars of all time and you can still find one of them for cheap. A Cosworth like this could easily set you back $50,000 to $100,000 yet you could find yourself an American classic for a lot less.
Standards have dropped. Very few people today have good grammar (myself included). My father who only completed high school has far better grammar than myself yet I have a Phd and attended medical school. People back then had a far greater understanding of the constitution than people have today. In the 1930s both democrats and republicans stopped FDR from changing the supreme court because they cared and the public backed then on it. Things have changed for the worst including cars.
Brendan Leuthner they are now 25 years old! You can bring one from Europe and drive Legally no problem. Plan on spending $20-25k for a nice one
From what I remember, and this is going back a fair bit. The clip/show ends with him meeting the car's current owner and basically 'grovelling' to buy it back. "Name your price".... the guy was having none of it. According to DVLA Lookup K38FMC is still MOT'd, Taxed and on the road. :)
Haha I just checked to see if it was still around myself then saw this comment. And looking at the MOT history its done very VERY few miles in the past 10 years. less than 1000 miles a year so it's definitely not been a daily driver. Perhaps Clarkson has bought it back.

I would imagine its not the sort of road that would be very sympathetic if you erm, 'went for it' those things had huge turbos and he is using all of the road in some of the clip. He's being sensible here and I can't blame him.
@@EgoShredder Yes speeding on a public road & then broadcasting it to the nation is a great idea lol He was likely sticking to the limit, but TBH a surefooted AWD motor won't look like it's going as fast as it is because they don't lurch about so much as lesser vehicles do they.

Drove this road a few years back in my first car. Car wasn't exactly well suited... Couldn't get out of second gear on some hills. Still a great place.
